Hi Barbara,
Nice to visit today.
When I mentioned that my tutor at the University of Edinburgh, Gary West, in ~2004 in making his beautiful CD 'The Islay Ball' (around 2001) said something like - it was the only thing that gave him meaning, ... and that Edinburgh has a lot of alienation or anomie in my experience in 2003-2004, I mean by anomie this:
"Anomie, also spelled anomy, in societies or individuals, a condition of instability resulting from a breakdown of standards and values or from a lack of purpose or ideals." (Brittanica.com)
There's a different ethos there than what gave rise in the 1960s and early 1970s to Jethro Tull, Steeleye Span and Rolling Stones, Cream ... (and Angela and Victor in a sense too - Angela and Mick Jagger sharing some things in common). (And the ethos of the 1960s was still a little in the air in Edinburgh, Scotland, when I lived there my first full year in 1976-77, or '77-78, studying at Fettes College in the 1st year 6th form, a kind of junior year abroad from high school).
Ethos, beauty and wisdom of 2019-2020? ... what have we in Berzerkeley, one of the birthplaces of the Grateful Dead in that time too in the SF Bay Area?
And how to think of ethos in giving rise to music - consciously ?
Eric Dodson is hippy minded, plays rock guitar, is philosophical, and very conscious (embodying aspects of panoramic awareness and holism in the way he talks) ... and is a professor. I learn from him.
Seeking to bring a kind of panoramic awareness to my Honey in the Bag album on Scottish Small Pipes too (possibly with some influences of the 1960s and 70s even ... hmm ... how?) ... am finding beauty and wisdom in this :) check out this 'consciousness' label - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/consciousness?m=0 - and related posts. (Alasdair Fraser is of the 1960s and this time touches his music too:).
I guess Kathryn Tickell playing borderpipes too comes closest for me of pipers I know to infusing her music with the spirit of the 1960s & 70s. Check out this blog post as well http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/10/pistachio-how-how-to-move-toward-more.html?m=0 and it's 'bagpiping' label too.
Cheers, Scott

Barbara,
Methinks the '60s - and Berkeley too - were revolutionary ... you were there ... had revolutionary ideas in the air .... how to be-ing (bring) this spirit into the creation of my Scottish small pipes' cd? And is my actual-virtual Harbin ethnographic book in this vein? :)Naked Harbin Ethnography:

Ants and Koh were asking about the Twitter feed photo of this Boston Tea Party ship -
Boston Tea Party ship where American Independence began, a replica floating in Boston Harbor at near sunrise. It's name is "Beaver," whereas the other 2 revolutionary ships were the "Dartmouth" & the "Eleanor" https://t.co/CU6HjcM5V5 > https://t.co/BO2b3fK91H @WorldUnivAndSch ~ pic.twitter.com/cYejblrU5c— WorldUnivandSch (@WorldUnivAndSch) July 17, 2019
https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1151451898194681856
- which photo I took this past summer 2019, and I replied, perhaps with the beginnings of a song to be accompanied on Scottish Small Pipes:
The Boston Tea Party ship
Is a symbol now
Of freedom from oppression
By the English whose crown was
Taxing tea they were selling
To young Americans -
Exorbitant outrageous taxes,
With no political representation -
In that monarchy.
What of democracy?
Taxation without representation
Is wrong Americans cried,
And they doth protested.
The British red coats, these
Mercenary turncoat toadies
Of an unjust regime, a monarchy,
sought to repress further these early
Citizens-to-be of a nation,
The United States' Americans.
So Americans-to-be went onto
This ship, the Beaver,
and 2 other ships too,
Dartmouth and Eleanor
In Boston harbor in 1773,
Right about where the Beaver floats now
And threw this tea,
these British owned chests of tea
Into the sea, and spoiled it,
and its profits for the crown,
Proclaiming taxation without representation is wrong, -
With their actions, their activist freedom-seeking actions.
Further struggle broke out,
Further futile British attempts at controlling the
Freedom-seekers from oppression.
Red coat mercenary British soldiers
With arms, & martial law, seeking
to put down these
Young AMericans.
A war broke out,
and the tea party was its beginning.
A revolution broke out, and Americans cried:
One if by land - a lantern in Old North Church signaling British red coats on the road raid marauding
Two if by sea, - 2 lights in the Church, signaling those heinous red coats arriving by sea.
The young Americans
Could have thrown these red coats into the sea too, like the tea.
This knowledge, signaling, and v thinking, helped set us free.
So a freedom seeking struggle grew,
And Americans eventually won, -
The British turned tail, went back over the sea,
And my ancestor, actually, General Benjamin Lincoln,
2nd in command to George Washington,
accepted their sword of surrender
At Yorktown VA in 1781
(https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/remembering-the-other-important-lincoln-in-american-history/)
And in 1787, Lincoln won Shay's Rebellion in MA leading to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
This in a nutshell - will do some further fact checking - is the significance of the Boston Tea Party ship, the Beaver in the photo in my Twitter feed, and which replica of that very revolutionary symbol of a ship I pass by every summer near South Station in Boston Massachusetts on my way to Cuttyhunk Island (where my family has a home), via New Bedford, a home of Herman Melville. But that is another tale of this nation and its growth - once set free - free from the yoke of British oppression - the crown - which indeed bound the embryo of a nation since Jamestown VA in 1602s and Plymouth MA in the 1620 with Pilgrims on the Manpower (http://sites.austincc.edu/caddis/new-england-1620-1692/)
Turn this poem-let into a folk song of revolution to be? An anthem? A ballad? We'll see ... folk rock perchance ... sung with Scottish small pipes ... c'est possible ... (the French were young Americans' allies in our early growth, with their ideals too of throwing off the yoke of the aristocracy in 1789 their revolution).
To be revisited idea-wise :)
Boston Tea Party ship I think does not sail ... but people go aboard it - a vessel on the sea, and symbol of democracy - to re-live this birth of a democratic freedom - & re the heinous taxation without representation :) ... a call for freedom!
Much more in blog post today to come :)
Cheers, Scott

Hi Ants and Koh, and All,
Happy Birthday, Ants! And thanks for the nice invitation! Will let you know on the 15th (since I have a couple of balls in the air).
I'd also like to invite you and All to another birthday party for you on Saturday the 19th chez moi (in Canyon 94516).
There's a picture of Tarun, Takeshi and myself from the last party chez moi, next to the picture of the Boston Tea party ship here - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch (and above) - currently on the main WUaS Twitter feed. (Are you both still in the Bay Area?:)
Happy upcoming birthday, Ants!

Thanks very much - I think we can make it on the 19th. If you can manage the 15th you'll be most welcome! Boston Tea Party ship? Does it go on tour or is it moored at its historic fixed location? (I'm clearly ignorant on the matter). Because of the maritime theme and the presence of ancient ships (I recall a mention of the local Balclutha) it reminds me of our quest for fireworks the night before I went into labour (the 4th of July) - good job we managed a wee outing on the final day of having only one child! Well technically sprog2 was born on the 6th of July but it was just after midnight - nine minutes after midnight, after I'd gone into labour on the 5th. So you witnessed the very last gasp of the one-child scenario and the beginning of bi-sprogular configuration!

Indeed, we were of course aware of the general story of the Boston Tea Party, but we didn't know there was a physical ship to be seen in our time! Also of course we didn't know that one of your ancestors was involved. Most intriguing! We hope to see you at the other party, which isn't Bostonian but may involve tea and will certainly involve liberty unless the neighbours call the police on us for disturbing the peace.

Was myself born in Lexington, that most revolutionary city, in 1960, at its 12/31 close, a revolutionary US decade itself, the battle of Lexington taking place in 1775 -
"What happened at the Battle of Lexington and Concord?
The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. The battles were fought on April 19, 1775 in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy (present-day Arlington), and Cambridge" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battl...)
- well, physically in Cambridge, MA, in Mt. Auburn hospital, and am not sure whether my parents brought me home to Lexington where they lived on 12/31/60 or 1/1/61 or soon thereafter. My US passport says Lexington as place of birth.
Why is 1776 considered the us birthday?
"We think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. But July 4, 1776 wasn't the day that the Continental Congress decided to declare independence (they did that on July 2, 1776)."
Why was the Boston Tea Party important?
"The Boston Tea Party was a raid that took place in the Boston Harbor in 1773 during which American colonists dumped shiploads of tea into the water to protest a British tax on tea. This event was important because it fueled the tension that had already begun between Britain and America."
Circling around to the ship the Beaver, which began this tale, Americans-to-be made tea in the sea of the British crown's profits ... in the name of the revolutionary cry that taxation without representation is NOT democratic, - and proceeded to create a constitutional democracy, the longest continuous one in the world in 2019.
And after the Boston tea party on Beaver, Eleanor and Dartmouth ships in 1773, to the 4th of July in 1776, Americans returned to their farms, - and now could vote, and choose their governments - of the people, by the people and for the people :)
Scott
And how will Scotland proceed with the English in the 2020s re freedom and democracy? To be seen ... in the voting in part, as well as in the writing.

How - how - to move toward more beautiful piping re learning, and how to learn too how to engage with practicing in new ways?
I think these guidelines are helpful in these regards re envisioning and seeking out private instruction http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm (and there are others I've written for eliciting loving bliss neurophysiology like practicing a musical instrument - http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingLovingBlissvavMusicalInstrument.htm) ... but I think I'm going to explore writing some re learning to love practicing an instrument on top of these two.

Am taking Skype piping lessons presently with Finlay MacDonald, Head of Piping Studies at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow (which merged in 2018 with The College of Piping in Glasgow) ... partly toward my "Honey in the Bag" album in 2020, with 3 chanters - A, D, B flat - and may seek to have my lesson before meeting with you on Thursday. Am curious to talk with him about how to
focus my piping with Open Band (where almost all of the sheet music is not in the A chanter's range - allowing opportunities to be creative however:).
Seeking too to get the D-E 'Combo Drone,' the 4th drone on SSP, working well and find how to make most beautiful piping music with it as well.

Top 10 Indicators of Wisdom by Eric Dodson:
10. Kindness, compassion & generosity
9. Appreciation and gratitude
8. The ability to hold things loosely
7. Balance
6. Playfulness, humor and laughter
5. Spontaneity and creativity

New label: 'wisdom'
(may head back through this blog to add new 'wisdom' label to a few other posts)

Re wisdom, Ma, your observations "to let go" and some of these questions even, have just blogged about Prof / Philosopher Eric L. Dodson today - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/10/andean-cock-of-rock-wisdom-education-by.html - who has a Ph.D. from Duquesne University (in psychology), and seems wise, - and thinks about wisdom from his own reasoning. His 8th indicator of being wise in his "Wisdom and Education" video is:
8. The ability to hold things loosely
Am curious if he knew George Alexander MD (family friend and Lacanian psychiatrist), since ERic's thinking seems to reflect conversation philosophically with George. Eric seems to have lived in Pittsburgh from 1989-1996 when he took a teaching position in the south. Do you recall having met him, by any chance? You might enjoy his 3 videos in this blog post, as well as the piping ideas.
Thank you!

Cashew (Anacardium occidentale): Avatar Bot Medical Records in Wikidata in Tunisia re UBI TOO -:strategy, brainstorming, medicine and Google stake in Wikidata/Wikibase re 7.5 billion people as Wikidata Q-item #s'
Scott MacLeod5:30 PM (0 minutes ago)

This email is a strategy, brainstorming, medicine and Google stake in Wikidata/Wikibase re 7.5 billion people as Wikidata Q-item #s' email, in response to some of your recent emails.
Brainstorming-wise, and taking a medical charting by MDs with Wikidata for psychiatry approach, and for 7.5 billion people on planet for psychiatry too - AND with planning for voice, and per wiki World Univ & Sch's recent laying "claim to create 7.5 Billion Wikidata Q's" email, how would this work with avatar bot electronic medical records?
Conceptually, here are some Avatar bots images re medicine - 'topbot' ...

- https://web.archive.org/web/20170831212017/https://www.topbots.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/ai_healthcare_challenges_800x350.jpg (with this image and one more heart in avatar bot image from MIT here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/oregon-coast-wuas-avatarbotelectronicme.html). This first image contains a whole human avatar bot, a world map plus many other components of possible avatar bot electronic medical records - scaled large. (And brainstorming-wise, I'm also thinking in terms of Kaiser Permanente Health Maintenance Organization / health care provider with 1000s of MDs in the US in many US states as standards for charting for psychiatry in digital age as precedent in these regards).
So, for example, take epilepsy as a psychiatric condition, how would a psychiatrist MD medically chart epilepsy findings one medical appointment after another for a single patient over time? So, for example, here's an image of the 'frontal lobe epilepsy' -

https://web.archive.org/web/20181105175551/http://epilepsyu.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/frontal-lobe.png. And say this is an image of a patient's brain at the cellular (or the atomic) level. Potentially this image could be added to the above 'topbot' avatar bot (with its Wikidata Q-item number) with a date and in relation to that epileptic patient's other brain imaging thus far over time, and in video too - and potentially many MDs over time could add this to this patient's avatar bot electronic medical record as well. Wikidata could play a significant role in this scenario, by helping structure the data for labeling and retrieving data about what kind of epilepsy this image shows, and this patient has - https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9917-epilepsy-types-and-their-symptoms (see too https://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/Epilepsy_and_psychiatric_disorders and https://www.omicsonline.org/open-access/epilepsy-and-its-management-in-relation-to-psychiatry-2376-0281-1000121.php?aid=32022). So a hypothetical Tunisian psychiatrist could in this patient avatar bot electronic medical records as Wikidata Q-ttems' charting example create records in either French or Arabic (or any other of the ~300 languages in Wikipedia).
And furthermore, a Wikidata query by a Tunisian psychiatrist doctor MD or researcher scientist looking at related cases of eplepsy in Tunisia, for example, could ask Wikidata-wise "how many patients in Tunisia in 2010 had 'Frontal Lobe epilepsy'?" along with "where in Tunisia did these epileptic seizures take place?" - and along with psychiatry-wise "Are there ways to further localize and identify in this image specific parts of the brain in the frontal lobe where the seizure occurs together with behavior questions and with medication and treatment questions." I think this would shape a new approach to Wikidata Bioinformatics. Brainstorming-wise further, in what ways could Wikidata / you / World University and School's Research and Tunisia Medical School at WUaS begin to do pilot studies in Tunisia with say 10,000 patients in one hospital over one year, some of whom had epileptic seizures with good imaging and data about these - each patient a Wikidata Q-item - as well as (what other aspects of the epilepsy data in Wikidata ie treatment, medication etc)? Google's TensorFlow could be used to analyze and especially learn via machine learning from these data via Wikidata.
Moving on from avatar bot electronic medical records re Wikidata and the above example, to Google's stake in Wikidata/Wikipedia re WUaS's claim 7.5 billion people, each a Wikidata Q-item #, and UBI experiments, it was good to see in a recent Twitter post by John Palfrey (former Harvard Law Professor, and former Head of Phillips Academy Andover High School - and now newly President of the MacArthur Foundation based in Chicago, who's parents are both Harvard MDs), that Google protocols are coming under AntiTrust (anti-monopoly legal rulings in the US) scrutiny from the House of Representatives -
Google Draws House Antitrust Scrutiny of Internet Protocol https://t.co/TqmgXjUTDj— John Palfrey (@jpalfrey) September 29, 2019
https://twitter.com/jpalfrey/status/1178312201993629696 . If Google's protocols become the way UBI experiments are explored (to distribute a single cryptocurrency backed by some number of ~200 countries' central banks) - each person of 7.5 billion people on planet earth a Wikidata Q-item - first in the USA then in many other countries with different legal systems, this would significantly affect Wikidata's / Wikimedia's strategy in new ways. Please remember that CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School donated itself to Wikidata for co-development in 2015, and received the WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki in 2017 but that they're not yet interoperable, and that WUaS seeks to create Wikidata Q-item numbers for speakers in each of all 7,111 known living languages - each a wiki school at WUaS for open teaching and learning - and also for all 7.5 billion people, each a wiki teacher or learner at WUaS, in these regards.
So re Google's stake in Wikidata / Wikipedia further, and in that World Univ & Sch is both in Wikidata as well as in Google Education, I'm going to seek to add some of the above avatar bot images above to our new Google for Nonprofits' pages - g.page/world-university-and-school and g.page/world-university-and-school?share - and in seeking for WUaS to further develop with Wikidata Q-item numbers and re our unfolding WUaS Medical Schools and online teaching Hospitals - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Hospital - for online clinical care. Brainstorming-wise, in what ways Houcemeddine and Sebastion and All re Wikidata and DBPedia and FreeBase might we further explore creating 10,000 avatar bot electronic medical records for 10,000 Tunisians each a Wikidata Q-item to explore developing this further? And in this pilot study vein too how might we start creating Wikidata queries on these 10,000 avatar bot electronic medical records for 10,000 Tunisians each a Wikidata Q-item re epilepsy, for example?
I touch on these Wikidata Q-items for each of all 7.5 billion people - in 3 ways to begin - in World Univ & Sch's Monthly Business Meeting Minutes from 21 September 2019 - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/xerochrysum-bracteatum-agenda-news-for.html and https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2019/09/agenda-news-for-21-sep-2019-world-univ.html
Thanks for your direct responses, Houcemeddine and Sebastian!
All the best, Scott

And in this pilot study vein too how might we start creating Wikidata queries on these 10,000 avatar bot electronic medical records for 10,000 Tunisians each a Wikidata Q-item re epilepsy, for example?I touch on these Wikidata Q-items for each of all 7.5 billion people - in 3 ways to begin - in World Univ & Sch's Monthly Business Meeting Minutes from 21 September 2019 - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/xerochrysum-bracteatum-agenda-news-for.html and https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2019/09/agenda-news-for-21-sep-2019-world-univ.html
Thanks for your direct responses, Houcemeddine and Sebastian!
All the best, Scott
If Google's protocols become the way #UBIexperiments are explored (to distribute a #SingleCryptocurrency backed by % of ~200 countries' central banks) - all 7.5 billion people on planet earth a Wikidata Q-item at WUaS - these legal developments would reshape Internet finance law

Hi M,
Came across these 'Walk in the Light' song words from the culture of Quakerism - http://quakerismtoday.blogspot.com/2008/10/quaker-song-walk-in-light.html?m=1 - raising some intercultural Quaker questions for me, - possibly from a few centuries ago.
Am in touch a bit with Amy Hesse '03-Biology re her invitation to me to join a Reed Career Alliance video call on Thursday, but without her following up.
Am curious how she as a 37yo-something Assistant Alumni Director, and a Reed alumna, might know of some 28yo-something MD Reedies in the SF Bay Area, for ex., possibly interested in beginning a family, and might even arrange an introduction ...
Just texted this to Ed in these regards as well -
"Hello Ed, How's your weekend going? Met 3 interesting UC Berkeley Cal students the other day ... similar connecting potential in another context perchance ... one was connecting positively with me, with her friends encouragement, language-wise ... with backgrounds in a distant developing country, ... appreciated the connecting impetus coming from one ...
- https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/ ... could happen too through blog ... How's your week shaping up as well? cheers, Scott"
Seeking a friend, and putting it out there, and good to have attended the Reed FAR meetings in these regards re your 'Odds and Ends' thread, Ma!

Hi Ma,
I don't know the ethnomusicological history of "Walk in the Light," but it could make for interesting research - and re questions of cultures esp. And thru time. Ethnomusicological research at Haverford, Swarthmore, Earlham and at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre near Birmingham, and Britain Yearly Meeting in London. Part of this could involve performance - how technically to sing it beautifully, re innovation - and online .. and to further WUaS online libraries too.
I first explore Walk in the Light here recently https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/andes-reed-college-thank-you-for-your.html?m=0 and re a Turkish re-Tweet from IBM's and MIT's Jim Spohrer.
Am seeking to learn how further to play Scottish Small Pipes movingly for my upcoming 'Honey in the Bag' album too (thinking Yo Yo Ma's Bach Cello Suites here ...) interesting learning questions ... rewriting the practicing word once again.
Will share some WUaS wiki school's about these questions later. But you'll find these subjects -

Hi Ma,
Nice to talk again yesterday evening. Shared this with Ed the other evening after we had talked when I was at Stanford:
Nice to talk earlier. What's the name of the Atul Gawande article on computing and medicine you mentioned? Is this it?

Am curious too how to plan for improving on existing psychiatry departments in US universities' medical schools, and at Kaiser Permanente, and in each of all ~200 countries' medical schools, (and maybe even as Stanford Medicine builds a new psychiatric wing, about which I heard some residents give presentations a few weeks ago).
Am curious how online psychiatry, psychotherapy, and esp. psychoanalysis, could be made better ... and even eventually with seemingly 'sentient' avatar bots ... If someone were seeing a Yale-trained psychiatrist in Marin County a couple of times a year - not psychoanalytically trained - in what ways could such very well-trained and smart MD psychiatrists get access further to online psychoanalytic training, and also help develop related theorizing of online psychoanalysis (eventually in multiple languages) with regards to existing opportunities for psychoanalytic training. An additional two years of psychoanalytic study for certificate, plus two years, 4-5 times per week of being a training analysand online? How could outcomes be measured - re people learning about their own unconscious minds (a goal of psychoanalysis) - and psychoanalysis quality improved especially?

Hi Ma,
How have your last two long days gone? How are you and how's the weather?
Circling around to this thread from mid-May, am curious how to move beyond even Lacanian psychoanalysis re this helpful overview - https://www.psychiatrictimes.com/psychotherapy/jacques-lacan-best-and-least-known-psychoanalyst - and perhaps with ideas from John Money PhD re online effective measurable psychoanalysis (?), given human individuality, perhaps eventually with AI and machine learning ... and even in a virtual Harbin Hot Springs, depending ...
Appreciating that Friends Hospital (1813) is behaviorally oriented but recognize this only goes so far and might not address issues relevant to someone seeking psychotherapy or psychoanalysis.
Just emailed Carl and Larry:

(Old links)
Seeking to begin the licensing process with BPPE for Bachelor and PhD degrees, which precede medicine and law - planned in all countries' main languages. WUaS is exploring building out of/collaborating with Friends Hospital (1813) in Philadelphia -
For example, see -
"In what ways could Friends' Hospital, the oldest private psychiatric hospital in the nation (1813) https://friendshospital.com/programs-and-services/, best inform ONLINE World University & School Psychiatry https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Psychiatry & in ~200 countries' languages? And Is Friends' Hospital still Quaker?"
https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/20... - and re my whistleblowing at SFFM with regards to issues with kids, and bringing law and psychiatry to the Meeting."
But psychoanalysis+ given human subjectivity (and theorizing) seems both like it could help people - the only thing that might when other modalities don't - and also deeply problematic for a variety of reasons .... Hmmm
Yet I appreciate the thinking that (Lacanian psychoanalyst MD) George, and Brig, explored in these regards themselves, and for the benefit of their kids who seem happy and in good careers.
Hmmm ... glad we've been thinking along these lines and in medical schools too re psychoanalysis nevertheless. And there's probably already a successful (and also not so) history of practicing psychoanalysis online to build from.
I think thinking about the mind and bodymind is the way to go though.
Love, Scott

Fri, Sep 27, 4:40 PM (19 hours ago)
to Scott, Michael, Barbara, stearns, Jim, Edward, Richard, kmoler, Hank, Roland, jtcampb, Robert, John, Larry
Dear Professor and Chairman Stearns of the - https://facultysenate.stanford.edu - and Professors Moler, Greely, Campbell, Vogl, Harrington, Viehland, Chairman Hennessy, and McConnell and van Schewick, (https://facultysenate.stanford.edu/past-senates/48th-faculty-senate),
I'm emailing you Professor Stearns, as Chairman of Stanford faculty senate, having not heard back from other Professors above since the first email in this thread on July 25, 2019 re requesting an ethics' investigation into Stanford Libraries, Research, and Academics.
I continue to receive numerous invitations to Stanford public events, so am writing to inquire how the ethics' investigation I've humbly requested may be proceeding. re the many questions I've raised (mostly in this thread).
Since someone (a S.Z.???), who said he was from a local (not Stanford) CA police department, stopped and read me a letter the last time I was invited to, and attended, a Stanford Medicine Center for Digital Health (CDH, of which Stanford Chairman of Medicine, Bob Harrington MD above is or has been its Executive Director until recently) event in person, - but this person didn't show a badge or ID - I'm writing to inquire in particular about the legality of this. I also told this person I had inquired several times with the Stanford faculty senate about an unfolding ethics' investigation.
In World University & School's official affiliation with Stanford Medicine CDH, the emails I've received from Stanford vice provost and librarian, M.K. - banning me from the Stanford campus for no reason (and from the Stanford Libraries too - and similarly the Stanford Archaeology Department's 'ban' to me before this, with threat too of calling the Santa Clara police) seem particularly detrimental to Stanford. What might Stanford Libraries and Archaeology be trying to hide? Something to do with the sex trade, I wonder? (Having seen only little indications of this, this is a question - given the 'strength,' spuriousness and unjustness of communications I've received, from M. K, I. H., and A.V. as well, suggesting that there could be something to hide. There could be many other reasons for such spurious and unjust communications from these Stanford employees in particular, about which I don't have knowledge as well). How about asking them what's going on? I'd think that opening Stanford talks to the public would be one way of Stanford controlling for this kind of thing, or related unethical or even illegal activities at Stanford.
So I'm writing to address these ongoing and months-old ethics' inquiry questions to you Chairman Stearns, - in not hearing back from the Stanford faculty senate committee members and Stanford Law/Medicine faculty above thus far. And Chairman Hennessy above, as Stanford President Emeritus for 16 years, with possible experience in related questions, may not be able to say anything potentially either.
As president of MIT OCW-centric World University and School, now officially in Google for Nonprofits, WUaS seeks to build further positive and mutually beneficial collaborations with great Stanford. And as the president of World University and School, I'm wondering too what the Stanford process is for addressing such questions. I noticed that the first Stanford faculty senate committee meeting may be on 10/10/19, and wonder if this would be the best way to address both my somewhat growing list of ethics' questions and some legal questions too, but if there are any related issues on Stanford's campus re potential inferences above, whether the Stanford faculty senate would also be the place to address these questions - for the potential betterment of Stanford Academics and Research - and develop a strategy for dealing with these possibilities both ethically and legally?
Chairman Stearns, if you would like to, Professor Larry Viehland above, Chairman of World University and School's both wings, is a MIT alumnus, like yourself, and might be able to answer any questions you might have from the perspective of World University and School / the WUaS Press/WUaS Corporation (and you can see his name here, for example, re MIT OCW WUaS - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2019/09/minutes-for-21-september-2019-world.html - planned in ~200 countries' official languages as major online universities, as well as in 7,111 known living languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning. World Univ & Sch is also planning to facilitate developing a realistic virtual earth/universe for everything, at the cellular and atomic levels too - think Google Street View with time slider / Maps / Earth / TensorFlow / Translate with individual and species avatar bots, including, conceptually, CRISPR Cas9 into something like Google Street View - as both STEM field sites for researchers around the world, as well as classrooms).
In the meantime, would it be possible please to begin attending again Stanford public talks and events with your protection/ok? (I've been emailing both the Chair of World University and School, and some other friends about MIT's Rafael Reif's handling with his changing story of the craziness that lead to MIT Media Lab Executive Director Joi Ito resigning recently, and don't think it would be in Stanford's interest to have something similar unfold as detrimentally (to victims of the sex trade) and unethically and illegally, as what is developing at MIT now. Students are calling for MIT President Rafael Reif's resignation, for example).
I wonder too if it would be very much in Stanford's interests to launch a full police investigation into Stanford Libraries and Archaeology and other Stanford departments in these regards.
Thank you so much. And I hope to hear from you soon about continuing to attend public Stanford talks.
Sincerely, Scott
Scott GK MacLeod

Parachute plant (Ceropegia): METHODOLOGY, as I recall, for potentially even finding or creating a JOB or CAREER you really love - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool... - in the book by Dick Bolles' "What Co
Brainstorming-wise, moving Dick Bolles' "What Color Is Your Parachute: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters & Career-Changers" book (50th edition? - http://www.jobhuntersbible.com/ - see these current 10 commandments - http://www.parachutebook.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/parachute-1200x1200-1.jpg) into machine learning / AI / a great computer program could be so helpful to so many! It's both the book's focus on methodology, i.e. what you've enjoyed doing/working on in the past, with a kind of personal, playful-even, and while not hand holding, yet an engaged conversation approach, that makes the book stellar. It also provides a beginning METHODOLOGY, as I recall, for potentially even finding or creating a JOB or CAREER you really love - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Finding_/_creating_a_job_you_really_love (the only such methodology I know of).
First written in 1970, and published in 1972 by the innovative Ten Speed Press in Berkeley, California ... it seems to me to embody a kind of people-centric, reader-has-agency, freedom-for-the-people approach to job seeking, and re finance questions especially - and building on human networking thinking!

Hi Amy,
(Reed College)
I blogged a little about this here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/andes-reed-college-thank-you-for-your.html?m=0 - brainstorming-wise, and with an impressive British interview of Richard Dawkins about his new book by Alex @CosmicSkeptic, an atheist studying theology at Oxford; my appreciation for smart interviews grows, culturally informed. This interview by Alex O'Connor of Dawkins could even inform Alex's career significantly for the better. They're both kind of philosophers, interestingly.
I also think Hugh Porter's interview of President Audrey Bilger is a good example of an interview style that would work for Reedie viewers, for example - https://youtu.be/FjxSqc2CCQg.
With regards to what we talked about after the 2nd Reed College FAR alumni careers's meeting on 14 September - ie brainstorming-wise moving Dick Bolles' "What Color Is Your Parachute: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters & Career-Changers" book (50th edition? - http://www.jobhuntersbible.com/ - see these current 10 commandments - http://www.parachutebook.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/parachute-1200x1200-1.jpg) into machine learning / AI / a great computer program, it's both the book's focus on methodology what you've enjoyed doing / working on in the past with a kind of personal, playful-even, and while not hand holding, yet an engaged conversation approach that makes the book stellar. It also provides a beginning METHODOLOGY, as I recall, for potentially even finding creating you really love - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Finding_/_creating_a_job_you_really_love.
Am curious too how such a book - "What Color ... ?" - might be focused in a machine learning program - innovation-wise - for Reedie graduates - both those going on for Ph.D.s and those taking other career paths? But even as, brainstorming-wise, an approach to help Reedies with careers without turning "What Color ... " into a computer program conceptually - and perhaps in conjunction with World Univ & Sch - this book could help advance Reed through developing a methodologically sound approach to careers for Reedies (building on what exists already at Reed for this).
Given a kind of exploration of Reed-World Univ & Sch possible collaborations for advancing Reed (re FAR) here, I wonder too about how all the wiki subjects I shared with you recently could be turned into Reedie opportunities to begin growing their careers. And how, if WUaS were to begin to get funding to grow, how such a project manager at Reed re World Univ & Sch might even emerge? I'd be curious about your thoughts in these regards as well?
Greetings to Audrey and Hugh as well.
Best regards, Scott

to Larry Viehland
Dear Larry,
Am wondering even if Amy Hesse (Biology '03) at Reed College, who emailed me Wednesday invited me to further Reed FAR engagement (Forum for Advancing Reed), could become a kind of Project Manager at World University and School at Reed.
Given a kind of exploration of Reed-World Univ & Sch possible collaborations for advancing Reed (re FAR) here, I wonder too about how all the wiki subjects I shared with her recently - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/andes-reed-college-thank-you-for-your.html and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/parachute-plant-ceropegia-methodology.html - could be turned into Reedie opportunities to begin growing their careers. And how, if WUaS were to begin to get funding to grow, how would Amy as such a project manager at Reed re World Univ & Sch grow?
I'd be curious about your thoughts in these regards as well? How would the quid pro quo or this for that work out in the community of Reed, and newly Reed and WUaS? (By way of comparison, how does the 'this for that' work out within MIT circles - and say perhaps with Harvard, or possibly edX - or other online startup educational accrediting schools ?)
Sincerely, Scott

In wondering about this last night, and re highest achieving colleges, as well as Quaker colleges, the only one on this above list that crossed my mind was the University of Washington. I wonder about Earlham College as being a great place to work some decades ago especially. And it's interesting to me that the words 'community' and 'Christian' re colleges come up so much in this list.
Why are not more highest achieving colleges on this list I wonder?

Am curious too how not only to create 2.2 million careers at World Univ & Sch, but also how this might emerge for Reedies and others on the virtual / digital side in a realistic virtual Harbin / realistic virtual earth, in addition to online free-to-students' degrees, and also staff positions at World University and School, for example. Thinking ~200 countries' main languages, and 7111 known living languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning.
