Lupinus stiversii: Dear Larry, (chair of the Board at World Univ & Sch, and MIT alumnus '69) * MIT Professors Wyn Kelley, Joaqin Terrones, "Nogueira talk" * * Am wondering too when WUaS can send out the July 18, 2020 WUaS Monthly Business Meeting minutes,
Dear Larry,
(chair of the Board at World Univ & Sch, and MIT alumnus '69)
In this MIT talk yesterday - https://twitter.com/SHASS4Students/status/1287787464531247105?s=20 - I started chatting 'privately' in Zoom video conferencing with MIT Professor Wyn Kelley, and added my email to one text message, and she emailed me, I'm glad to write. She's brilliant, receptive and engaging (see, for example, her 4 minutes' video on Moby Dick here - https://lit.mit.edu/people/wkelley/ - and she works with the New Bedford Whaling Museum in her Melville scholarship). I had emailed Yvain at MOOCit France the "Introduction to Fiction" MIT OCW course she created too - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/literature/21l-003-introduction-to-fiction-fall-2003/. Here's some of our conversation - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/lupinus-stiversii-mit-professors-wyn.html .
I haven't heard back from Yvain yet, but if MIT Profs like Wyn Kelley could do the 'migration' to the WUaS Open edX platform that would make our WUaS courses dynamically engaging. Am wondering too when WUaS can send out the July 18, 2020 Monthly Business Meeting minutes, and with the newly emerging WUaS Open edX PLATFORM, and hopefully even with a course or two. (Am wondering too what the conversation between Yvain at MOOCit France is with Open edX, and Ned and Anant, for example). In waiting mode!
Sincerely, Scott- https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/lupinus-stiversii-mit-professors-wyn.html -

Fascinating video here about “Moby Dick” - https://lit.mit.edu/people/wkelley/ - and interesting to see that you work with the New Bedford Whaling Museum and which is near Cuttyhunk Island, where I’ve grown up since I was little, and with many Portuguese too ... and re MIT OCW-centric online World University and School Brazil and in Portuguese https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil - and - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Portuguese_language - could this great talk become a basis for Brazil WUaS, and since MIT OCW has also been in Portuguese in the past?
Let's follow up after the talk. Thank you!

Thanks for this excellent Nogueira talk in Zoom. At Prof. Kelley's suggestion, I'm writing to inquire about beginning Brazil World University and School online, and out of MIT OCW (see our texting below) in Portuguese https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil - and - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Portuguese_language . How might we talk about this?.
Thank you, and regards, Scott

*Scott: Re this talk and anti-racism online, am wondering about how to bring together the web even with a wiki aspect to online MIT OCW-centric university degrees in Portuguese, and how Brazilians such as Nogueira, MIT Prof Terrones and academic colleagues, could help create this, on both wiki and degree sides. Would this address some anti-racism issues of online academia, I wonder?
*
Wyn:
I would write Joaquin if you want to look into Brazilian universities and terreiros. jsterron@mit.edu

Scott
Will do. Thank you. Do you speak Portuguese re ‘tereirors’? Here’s the archived MIT OCW in Portuguese - https://web.archive.org/web/20180217213422/http://mit.ocw.universia.net/ … World University and school is also developing newly in WUaS Open edX and seeking to offer Bachelor’s degree-oriented literature courses this autumn by migrating your OCW course for example - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/literature/21l-003-introduction-to-fiction-fall-2003/ - into Open edX. How could we talk further about this, I wonder? Here’s the idea - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/passion-vines-when-might-be-able-to.html - and where WUaS is now. Thank you!
* WUaS has a translation focus - and eventually machine learning-wise (think Google Translate for all countries’ language, and eventually for universities) - am wondering when we’ll see translation in Zoom so that we can hear real time translations of the Portuguese (which could possibly address some of the implicit questions in this talk too)
*How best, I wonder, further to ‘migrate’ or ‘adapt’ CC-4 MIT OCW into Open edX (at WUaS) via MOOCit France for 7-8 week long courses, and in English, and in Portuguese (as WUaS seeks to license in CA with BPPE and accredited with WASC senior, which accredits Stanford and UC Berkeley too), I’m asking myself? Education is a way to move away from racism (which may be a truism!). Thanks!
*Wyn: Sorry, not my expertise! But it sounds exciting.
* Scott: Appreciating your literature expertise. WUaS is wiki, and also planning online accrediting degrees - Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, and M.D. and I.B. - in all ~200 countries’ official languages, emerging from MIT OCW in 4 languages now .. so in Portuguese … and our first majors in English this autumn are English literature, EECS, Gen. Engineering, History, Gen. Science & Business. Would be exciting to stay in touch about the English literature degrees, at both Bach and Ph.D. levels! :)

Just came across this Stuart Liddell Glen Fiddich 2019 performance (I think) - https://vimeo.com/371359345 - and since we're just beginning to explore Hornpipes and Jigs (albeit with not enough of them in your CoP Blue Tutor Vol. 3 compared with my Blue Tutor due to versions), I thought you might like to hear this 'perfect' MSR with 'perfect' drones too. What's the difference in words between the strathspey and reel for you? Gary West (my tutor at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 2003-04, & head of BBC Piping Live) introduces, and they're both performing Scottish-ness on the internet (I'm an anthropologist as well) in interesting ways. Am planning to play the reel on my upcoming "Honey in the Bag" album (and can play with Stuart here even on my B flat chanter on SSP:). And what do you think of the five piping forms on Michael Grey's M S R HP J in the 2010 Livingstone Invitationalhttps://youtu.be/NQ7E-hS0NGo compared with Stuart Liddell's MSR here (let's come back to Michael Grey's 'visionary' St. Kilda video and piobaireachd later)? I may explore listening to each of these again - the MSR and the MSRHPJ - and by kind of dancing to them standing up to get the forms further into my bodymind! :)
Re-posted the MSR on FB, and separately re-posted a related Stuart Liddell / Gordon Duncan blog post - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/03/grey-seal-gordon-duncan-and-stuart.html - re what's a Stuart Liddell sound in comparison with a Gordon Duncan 'sound' which Connor Sinclair played for me in a lesson not too long ago (amazingly in a way). All of this, too, re expressivity (and per these Guidelines too - http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm)
I now have space to set up my keyboard piano again (having cleaned my place yesterday) ... and will begin to explore on it the A and D chanters' 9 notes, and the B flat chanter, on sheet music (digital and paper), and potentially for writing harmony too. :)
See you Thursday - and for the Hornpipe and Jig in the Scots' Guards' book (and let's explore the D chanter further here too:)!
Musical cheers, Scott

Hi Taylor,
Regarding Stuart Liddell's Glen Fiddich video, I see a meditative mind (possibly even learned in part from the drones) - so a Scottish meditation in a sense (and also re Sal Khan's Zen desk too) and remarkable mastery learning in Stuart.
I tried 'dancing' experimentally last night with Michael Grey's MSR HP J - and while I could imagine myself slaloming to the HP, I didn't find the jig very danceable at all. He wrote this, and he also composes Scottish pipe music in interesting complex rhythms 12/8s or similar for example, - and the jigs I like and find danceable as dance tunes I hope to be able to share with you in one way or another at some point.
As a heads' up, my smartphone died last Friday morning, and a new one is supposed to come on Thursday by around 5, and to a friends' house in Berkeley (since the shipper wouldn't send it to Canyon 94516, possibly because it might be risky). And my neighbor, and my landlady's fiance, wants to test mesh networking wifi tomorrow, Wednesday, afternoon. If something breaks, it's possible I won't have any connectivity on Thursday whatsoever. Will try to keep you informed in one way or another (but i'm letting you know here just in case). Am planning to be online on Thursday at this point.
Musical regards, Scott

Ned, Anant, MOOCit, me, contact, Larry

Very nice to talk to you in Paris last Wednesday. And thank you for asking me to send you 3-4 CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare courses (below) for MOOCit France to begin 'migrating' onto the upcoming WUaS Open edX platform, which you'll host, - as free-to-students' for-credit WUaS courses. We mentioned exploring 7-8 week long courses, with initially 30 minutes to an hour of studying per week - with discussion. Would this involve splitting the 15-16 week long MIT OCW courses in half? You also mentioned, I think, showing World Univ & Sch how we could do this for ourselves - and potentially so that our graduate student instructors could create their own courses, for example - and eventually in many languages, including especially in French.
Here's the enjoyable edX HarvardX JuryX course I mentioned taking in 2016, "JuryX: Deliberations for Social Change" - https://www.edx.org/course/juryx-deliberations-for-social-change, taught by Harvard Law Emeritus Professor Charles Nesson, and regarding the 'threads,' or asynchronous discussion, information technologies, as well as being engaging for students, and even using early VR for some jury decision-making case studies (about which I've blogged http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2015/03/red-eared-guenon-harvard-law-professor.html and http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2015/03/red-eared-guenon-harvard-law-professor.html).
I'm seeking, if at all possible, to email these 3-4 new courses, on the upcoming WUaS Open edX platform, out with the World Univ & Sch Minutes from our open WUaS Monthly Business Meeting on Sat. July 18, 2020 (https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2020/07/sat-71820-open-world-university-and.html). I'm writing to inquire when you think I might be able to email out this new WUaS Open edX platform, and the links to these 3-4 WUaS courses, for our WUaS prospective students to begin studying around September 1, 2020 even? World Univ & Sch students would be taking these courses toward free-to-students' best STEM CC-4 OCW licensing (in CA) and accrediting Bachelor's degrees (at first).
Thank you so much!

Bonjour Yvain,
Very nice to talk to you in Paris just now. As a starting point, here are some courses in World Univ & Sch's majors - worlduniversityandschool.org - to explore migrating or adapting to the Open edX platform at WUaS with MOOCit France:
English literature:Introduction to Fictionhttps://ocw.mit.edu/courses/literature/21l-003-introduction-to-fiction-fall-2003/
General Science: Scientific Visualization across Disciplines: A Critical Introductionhttps://ocw.mit.edu/courses/science-technology-and-society/sts-067-scientific-visualization-across-disciplines-a-critical-introduction-spring-2005/
General Engineering: Lego Roboticshttps://ocw.mit.edu/courses/experimental-study-group/es-293-lego-robotics-spring-2007/(or https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/engineering-systems-division/esd-00-introduction-to-engineering-systems-spring-2011/ )
History: Introduction to Environmental History
https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/history/21h-421-introduction-to-environmental-history-spring-2011/(or https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/history/21h-007j-empire-introduction-to-ancient-and-medieval-studies-fall-2012/ )
WUaS is seeking to link these new WUaS Open edX courses also to their corresponding wiki subjects here - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects (and eventually in many languages).
Thoughts, questions, ideas, suggestions? Merci beaucoup.
Best regards, Scott

Nontheist Friends, All,
"What is the connection between belief in God and morality?" Good to read some data. I recall talking with a Quaker family (family friends) in the 1990s (or early 2000s) that data showed that atheists were less than 1 % in the USA, and that the USA was one of richest countries with the highest number of believers (albeit very plural when it comes to religion).
The survey or polling perspective - especially Lee Rainie's at Pew Research- is often interesting re questions such as asking people as a group in the aggregate, and learning what they say ...
The Global God Divide
People’s thoughts on whether belief in God is necessary to be moral vary by economic development, education and age
BY CHRISTINE TAMIR, AIDAN CONNAUGHTON AND ARIANA MONIQUE SALAZAR
https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2020/07/20/the-global-god-divide/
There seem to be some definitional challenges here, such as that the definition of 'God' doesn't appear to be addressed, for example. These challenges could be compounded when surveying across countries, cultures, languages etc. (God as monotheism is mostly in the 27 countries where Arabic is the official language , and the 15 Christian nation states, and the so-called historically Christian countries - https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-christian-countries).
That nontheist Friends (NtFs) seem to have cultivated atheistic or agnostic Quakerism in part, and in relation to the broader RSOF would put NtFs off the purview of this survey, I'd think.
I think an interesting Pew survey could focus on non-theism and morality, and would raise probably a very different set of survey questions, and possibly survey subjects or respondents.
Not an issue for free-thinking Unitarian Universalists for decades or longer (God and morality in the US, as I see this), but for some Quakers, yes.

Hi M,
Thanks for your email. Gabrielle is a good friend from Reed College, living in San Francisco with her family, and a '(life) coach and facilitator,' and understanding and smart (and on the KP list I just noticed, but am not sure how this would work). Thanks for your other thoughts. I stay in touch, and socially, via emails (now), - and even re Manuel Castells' book "Communication Power." Am appreciative too in these regards of the Desiderata's - "Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story" (https://www.desiderata.com/desiderata.html) and George's great thinking especially; emailing friends is a way to speak my truth quietly and clearly (and it's also something I think George sought to listen to among analysands, for example) Language can be therapeutic. I think on my new upcoming 'unlocked' phone - I'll be able to keep both numbers on the same smartphone (412 - - - - - - - and the free local Google Voice number 415 . Will seek too to limit my group emails to you in particular, which I think I hear you saying in writing.
Am a writer - as ethnographer too - and also documenter and whistleblower, and through which it might be possible sometimes to effect change even, and in the name of ethics and morality. Here's a UU thinking-related / Quaker / Nontheist Friend email I sent an hour ago - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/magnolia-sieboldii-ntf-talk-global-god.html - which you might enjoy. Writing, emailing, thinking, speaking - toward social change for the better has_many plus sides.
Thanks for your Sunday email in my somewhat solitariness! Am seeking a life partner in an ongoing way in these regards, and writing about this has merit, as I think about this, too! Talk to you after I get my new smartphone, potentially on Thursday! :)
Love, Scott

GREG MANKIW'S BLOGRandom Observations for Students of EconomicsSUNDAY, JUNE 07, 2020What I've been watchingOver the past week, I have watched the six-part HBO miniseries The Plot Against America , which came out in March. It is based on the 2004 Philip Roth novel of the same title and tells an alternative history in which FDR is defeated in 1940 by the fascist-sympathizing Charles Lindbergh through the eyes of a Jewish family living in Newark, NJ. Compelling story, well acted. It is the best piece of television I have seen in years.

CYC June 1 2020 Newsletter and COVID Plan -
Cuttyhunk Yacht Club sailing program in Massachusetts - and planning for the next epidemic in remote locations
Scott MacLeod9:43 AM (3 hours ago)

Dear David, Patti, Bee, George, Anna, Captain Dale, Stew, Serena, Mary, Gayle, Lisa, Paula, Seymour, Janie, Johnny, Anne, Cuttyhunkers All,
Very nice to see you all in the Cuttyhunk Board of Selectmen Town Meeting yesterday. Thanks for responding too to my what if a covid-19 emergency arises, Stew - and that Cuttyhunk is prepared with ventilators on 2 ferries. (A genetic mutation, and rapid spread of new genes, among a group of seniors, would potentially entail the need for new tests even - https://www.projectbaseline.com/study/covid-19/).
Since we spent the first 30 minutes talking about Cuttyhunk preparedness for covid-19, how to go from genetic tests into the Google-Apple coronavirus tracing App into electronic medical records with remarkably high accuracy is a fascinating question, if not for this pandemic, but the next one per Harvard and MIT Prof. of Genetics George Church:

Am appreciative too of how many MASK Tweets George Church has posted in recent months.
Hope to see you all in 'virtual Cuttyhunk' or on actual Cuttyhunk in the next while.
Warm regards, Scott

WUaS Educational Services' Store
Scott MacLeod <sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org>11:53 AM (1 hour ago)

ACTUAL-VIRTUAL BUSINESS PLAN ( 'retail' in the digital age - i.e. and to get books and computers etc to our WUaS students!)
An Actual-Virtual business plan in all ~200 countries' languages at WUaS Educational Services' Store - and way beyond WUaS officially carrying Lego robotics? Start with Google Pixel smartphones?
My SmartPhone is down ... and it would be great to become an official carrier of the Google Pixel smartphones, like Lego Robotics - and especially in planning for all ~200 countries' official and main languages, both online and on-the-ground. See yesterday's phone SAGA in the post script below.
So SmartPhone is down here, and the new one comes in a week. Since my smartphone (an old Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone) died yesterday morning, I may have to head to get a Google Pixel 3a smartphone, and then see at the same time if an upgrade to the Google Pixel 4a smartphone (due in October 2020 - if only my current old smartphone could have lasted until then!) becomes somehow available, and FOR something like Google DayDream digital masks and augmented reality generation from home, and virtual reality, and even in a SINGLE realistic virtual earth as STEM field sites and as classrooms, for law, too - REALISTIC VIRTUAL EARTH FOR LAW - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForLaw?src=hashtag_click ! SmartPhones are so central to life these days!
So, become an official VIRTUAL carrier of Google Pixel 4a phones (for augmented reality in what comes after Google DayDream masks for a realistic virtual earth?), like being an official carrier of Lego Robotics (but not yet a reseller!) ONLINE first - and then move to on-the-ground WUaS Educational Service Stores? As you can see here re WUaS carrying Lego robotics - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html - people in other countries have to find a Lego distributor in that country; see the Lego store-finder link here. Let Google and Lego figure out distribution ON-the-GROUND in all ~200 countries' languages at first (and later WUaS can help?).
(WUaS ALSO seeks to leverage our two 2 WUaS LEGAL entities' wings - and in all 200 countries and in all 7,117 known living languages - and there's amazing leverage potential here too).
So, how to get Lego Robotics and Google Pixel 4a phones to rural Sri Lankan WUaS students, and rural Indian WUaS students - somewhat like getting a Google Pixel 3a phone here where I live in rural America (in the woods in Canyon 94516, 25 minutes from Berkeley - SEE phone SAGA below)? VIRTUALLY first from web sites to secure shipping destinations (in America, Sri Lanka, Romania, Malaysia, India +)
Am seeking to keep this line from the Desiderata in mind in these regards as well:"Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time." (https://www.desiderata.com/desiderata.html)
Am wondering if, with John Hennessy as Chairman of Alphabet, and Sundar Pichai as CEO of Google, whether they could help with the VIRTUAL WUaS Educational Services' Stores carrying Google Pixel phones in all of Google's countries - and whether they could even help WUaS build the platform, and with TensorFlow machine learning as well?
Thoughts, ideas, questions, suggestions?
Sincerely, Scotthttps://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/bornean-peacock-pheasant-migrating-best.html
PSYesterday's smartphone SAGA in the post script.: So SmartPhone is down here, and the new one comes in about a week. Since my smartphone (an old Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone) died yesterday morning, I may have to head to get a Google Pixel 3a smartphone, and then see at the same time if an upgrade to the Google Pixel 4a smartphone (due out in October - if only my current old smartphone could have lasted until then!) becomes somehow available! For something like Google DayDream digital masks and augmented reality generation from home, and virtual reality, and a realistic virtual earth! Phones are central to life these days!
Phone seemed to die around 6am in the morning - and the Samsung logo was on the screen. My old phone is some 8 years old. So what to do? Having weeks' ago identified the Google Pixel 4a as the next phone I want, and checked T-Mobile's website (where it seemed I could purchase this), I went to T-Mobile store (since T-Mobile is my carrier) in Oakland near Lake Merritt, and they didn't have it, and when they called other stores, none had it either. (They suggested checking out Best Buy and Target). I went to Walmart for other shopping - and they didn't have it either. The T-Mobile store also suggested ordering it online, but later I couldn't. (I didn't have a phone to call the free 800 number, and I didn't have a workable FaceTime video App to talk with them - digital catch-22).
So, Best Buy, like T-Mobile, like Target didn't have it in-store, and T-Mobile's VIRTUAL-store doesn't work without calling a free 1 800 - - - - - - - telephone number to place order, and my phone is broken, (or with FaceTime, which App doesn't work for me, like many Apple software Apps for me ... re my non-functioning Apple ID).
Why couldn't I find it physically in-store anywhere - and in the SF Bay Area? Perhaps Google releases these Pixela value smartphones carefully VIRTUALLY for a variety of reasons, including security (physically and VIRTUALLY), and through a trusted VIRTUAL retailer (Amazon) for them.
Then it occurred to me to try Amazon - and for learning purposes too for the WUaS Educational Services' Store - and since I would much prefer to have bought this phone from WUaS Educational Services' Store in the big picture anyway (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0852WY8CR/). And I could buy it from efficient VIRTUAL Amazon - and for less than $400 which is a value price in the USA - but I had to ship it to a friend's address, probably because where I live in Canyon 94516 even with its own US post office, isn't secure for shipping a smartphone, and Amazon's software anticipated this glitch, and I could efficiently have my upcoming phone shipped to my friend's house arriving in 7-10 days! O my - 10 days without a phone (and not so efficient of Amazon either!)!
And why has this situation evolved for Google to distribute their phones in this way? (Possibly lack of trust in physical in-store retailers - albeit Target had the much more expensive Google Pixel 4 phone in-store).
Was my smartphone somehow locked by Samsung remotely at the end of its approximately 8 year life? And can I get the photos and text messages off it, like getting Harbin field work data off my dead previous Treo smartphone - with a new kind of digital archaeology even ? Here at the bottom of yesterday's blog post are the messages I was texting to 4 friends/ family while out on a walk. Could these messages even have had something to do with my "dead" smartphone? Who knows?
Begin with the VIRTUAL in all 200 countries as one irons out the postal systems/languages/currencies, and then develop on-the-ground cafes / bookstores / computer stores / robotics' stores building out of Google's Starbuck's store placement regarding I.T. software? OR first the virtual in some countries, and first the actual/physical in some countries?
Warm regards, Scott

Migrating best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare to the upcoming WUaS Open edX via MOOCit France as service provider, and as host
Scott MacLeod <sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org>5:58 PM (3 hours ago)

World Univ & Sch had a successful meeting with CEO Yvain of MOOCit France as service provider on Wednesday - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/green-pheasant-congratulations-rifai.html - regarding the upcoming WUaS Open edX platform, and 'adapting' CC-4 MIT OCW. It seems as if they're going to 'migrate' 3-4 MIT OpenCourseWare courses for WUaS to a WUaS Open edX courseware approach, and show WUaS too how we can instruct graduate student instructors to migrate further CC-4 MIT OCW, and their own courses they'd like to teach, to the WUaS Open edX platform ahead. They're also going to HOST our new upcoming WUaS Open edX platform. (They seem to be working somewhat with Open edX architect / programmer Ned Batchelder in Brookline, MA, and MOOCit France won an Instructional Design Prize recently, and was a presenter in the Open edX monthly community meeting which I attended).
... But what about our WUaS Educational Services' Store - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html (and academic press in 7 languages, beginning with Google Translate's 100 languages), now officially carrying Lego robotics - since MIT OCW has a contractual it seems relationship with Amazon? I think WUaS will have to add our own courses with our own books, such as Board Chairman Larry Viehland adding his Introductory Chemistry 2 year course (for Chatham Univ. students in Pgh) to the WUaS Open edX platform, for one. Potentially by hiring 2nd year and beyond highest achieving graduate student instructors from Harvard / MIT / Stanford / Oxbridge etc., who are seeking to become university faculty members, WUaS will be able to add courses of their own devising ... and perhaps even with a realistic virtual earth for STEM - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1286410161561640960?s=20 ... in combination with - as a WHOLE ...

Hi Ma,
Thanks for your email! Glad regarding your mentioning the coyote I saw and texted you about that you're getting and reading my texts and my emails +! Re a Unitarian Universalist vision for social justice WITH the law (which I think I share with you), am wondering how the idea of AGENCY (per my email to you and David) plays a role here too.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning as well in Zoom online in 'virtual Cuttyhunk' - probably in the Cuttyhunk Town Hall and with some familiar faces! It will be interesting to see what we learn about coronavirus pandemic safety on Cuttyhunk this summer! (I've been emailing Ed a bit further about whether and how Canyon 94516 could be a dangerous situation, and I think he understands; I wonder what roles A) law, B) medicine and C) psychiatry might be playing newly here even).
Brainstorming idea:It would be fascinating if we could add so many Zoom video 'backgrounds' from the period over the coronavirus pandemic into a single interactive realistic virtual earth - kind of a new idea too (and am thinking of piping them all into Google Street View)!
Taylor will be traveling this evening, so no piping lesson, but we'll resume next week, he wrote too (I think we're at around his 16th lesson). Am playing my Scottish small pipes daily before heading to bed as well ... and toward my upcoming "Honey in the Bag" SSP album!
If we do find out in the BoS meeting that Cuttyhunk is a safe place to visit tomorrow, I'd like to keep open the possibility of heading there this year even nevertheless. (I might even meet a life partner on the journey there ... and tempus fugit! )
Just connected with my former housemaster George Preston and friends, Andrew Lownie and Yuen Lok Mok, from my year at Fettes College earlier and regarding, too, a great video from its current Fettes head of school Helen Harrison with many cultural insights into the pastoral care aspect of a Scottish education as well as Fettes academic focus - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/olrogs-gull-pastoral-care-and-academic.html (but unfortunately this video is private).
And after my good meeting with CEO Yvain at MOOCit France as a service provider yesterday for migrating CC-4 MIT OCW into WUaS Open edX, I hope my big educational project will make possible free-to-students' online best STEM CC-4 OCW-centric Bachelor degrees to Fettesian students as early as September 1, 2020. Am finding the Scottish identity themes playing out here further - in my studying there for 2 separate years, playing the bagpipes (formerly the highland pipes and now the Scottish small pipes), in family NAMES - and am exploring it also in this family history here - http://scottmacleod.com/ScottMacLeodFamilyHistory.htm - which is growing. I want to ask you more about the names, like Monroe in your grandfather's name, Oscar Monroe Gilbert MD, and am curious too about James A Brown, Grandpa's grandfather, and re Scotland too. What do you recall of James A Brown if anything? :)

Dear Head Harrison Andrew, Yuen Lok, George,
Inspiring, ~ Head Harrison! Made the corners of my mouth 'un-droop.' (I heard echoes of John Cleese even, a bit too :).

I had asked on June 11, 2020 at the invitation of this Fettes Community to ask a question:
Hi Fettesians,
Greetings from the SF Bay Area. Am glad to announce that World University and School is seeking its 2nd undergraduate class for free-to-students' online Bachelor's degrees this autumn 2020 as WUaS proceeds with licensing and accreditation. World University & School is like Wikipedia in ~300 languages, with the best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare (OCW) in its current 4 languages - https://youtu.be/vZcp2zqkI9w & just updated both WINGS http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ & http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html @WUaSPress info@ worlduniversityandschool.org ~

I found much socio-cultural insight into Edinburgh and Scotland in Head Helen Harrison's video, and appreciated, too, the Fettes' pastoral & academic excellence 'visions,' but I noticed she didn't answer my question. (Just yesterday, I had a 45 minutes' talk with Yvain Demollière, CEO of MOOCit France in Paris, and it looks like they're going to become the service provider for World Univ & Sch to put CC-4 MIT OCW onto the Open edX platform for World University and School, I'm very glad to write! And M. Rifai in Sri Lanka just became the first chancellor of WUaS - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/green-pheasant-congratulations-rifai.html - out of about 200 planned chancellors, for each countries' major online University and in all of these nation states' official or main languages, and esp. for free-to-students' online Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, MD and IB high school degrees!) Please give my regards to Head Helen Harrison! How are you all?
Friendly regards, Scott

Dear Helen, To what degree do you as Head of Fettes engage in university admissions' questions for Fettes' students outside of Scotland, England and the British Isles? I ask in the context of developing best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare-centric World University & School for free-to-students' online university degrees, where students would be studying from homes, post-Fettes. This autumn World Univ & Sch hopes to offer online edX (founded by Harvard & MIT) courses as WUaS proceeds with licensing and accreditation from California (potentially CA's BPPE and WASC). In what ways do you think Fettes students could be interested in free-to-students' online degrees, studying from home? Thank you. Sincerely, Scott GK MacLeod K'78 (worlduniversityandschool.org and scottmacleod.com - https://fettescommunity.org/user/778519) [image error]

I'm researching the MacLeod family from Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. James Edward McLeod (which he spelled MacLeod when he moved to the U.S.) was probably born on the Isle of Raasay in Inverness-shire, Scotland in the 1820s (1824?, or 1829?). He emigrated to PEI in 1839. He was married twice, and had 17 children, and was a tailor and kilt maker in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He then emigrated from Canada to the U.S.A. circa 1895. He died on January 5, 1899, in Boston, Massachusetts (having lived for 75? years), and was buried in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. His gravestone can be found in the Boston area. Who came before him? My first cousin, Mark Kenneth MacLeod (a family genealogist, significantly), has discovered recently (spring 2020) that James MacLeod's parents were Norman John MacLeod (c. 1795-1862) and Isobel MacKenzie ( -1880) from the Isle of Raasay, Scotland.
I'm primarily interested in genealogical and biographical information about the following people.
James Edward MacLeod married his first wife, Ann Bulger, July 4, 1850. They had 8 kids, of whom 6 survived. Who came before her? Her parents were Philip Bulger and Mary Duffy.
After his first wife died, he was married again in PEI, this time to Margaret E. Barnes; they had 7 sons: Edward, Henry, Charles, Frederick, Ernest James, William, J. Gordon, and 2 daughters: Mary Gertrude, and Amy. (All born on PEI? No â Henry and Frederick were born in Halifax). Ernest James MacLeod was my great grandfather, one of whose sons Gordon had Gordon (1929-2007) (http://www.pitt.edu/~gmacleod), who is my father. Who came before Margaret Barnes? Her parents were Edward Barnes and Catherine Duffy.
My father, Gordon K. MacLeod MD, was an Internal Medicine MD, and a Professor of Public Health. He was also the Secretary of Health in the State of Pennsylvania responsible for handling the Three Mile Island nuclear catastrophe in 1979, as well as president of the faculty senate at the University of Pittsburgh toward the end of his career there (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_K._MacLeod). My parents, Gordon Kenneth MacLeod MD and Janet Kirkbride Brown MacLeod (1935-) have two children, myself and my brother Sandy, aka Alexander Brown MacLeod (https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/sandy-macleod/ was: http://sandysculpture.com).
In addition, I'm researching the Mary Glynn family, my great grandmother who married my great grandfather Ernest MacLeod. She was born in St. John's, Newfoundland. Who came before Mary Glynn? Her parents were John T Glynn and Catherine OâBrien (and her grandparents are available in my cousin Mark K. MacLeod's Ancestry.com family tree - https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/154485576/family?cfpid=242040162889 - if you're interested). I'm also researching Margaret Driscoll MacLeod, and her father's and mother's families. As I understand it she was born in Ireland, and moved to the United States around her first year of life. His name was John Driscoll and was born in County Cork, Ireland and married Catherine Ryan who was born on Banquet Hill, County Tipperary. Who came before them? Timothy Driscoll and possibly Joanna Hays, and Daniel Ryan and Mary McGrath.
My father's eldest brother was Francis Ernest MacLeod, a Harvard student, who went also to Boston Latin School (like my father), before he died in WWII in the Vosges mountains in France at around 20 years of age. His younger siblings were Mary Regina MacLeod Kennedy, my father Gordon Kenneth MacLeod MD, Paul Roger MacLeod, and Bruce Vincent MacLeod. Bruce is the father of Mark K. MacLeod, and was a favorite uncle, and a Quaker too.
My mother's father's father was
Alden Hugh Brown (1869-1919) and he married Martha Holway Chadbourne (1871-1909), who died in childbirth, having given birth to a) Alexander "Sandy" Chadbourne Brown, my mother's father, so my grandfather, b) Mary Chadbourne Brown, and c) Martha Holway Brown Briscoe ("Aunt Marf"). Sandy and Rachel Gilbert Brown had Theodore "Ted" Chadbourne Brown, and Janet "Janie" Kirkbride Brown MacLeod (my mother), Mary Chadbourne Brown had Edward "Denny" Titus MD, and Martha HB Briscoe, with John "Jack" D Briscoe, had John and Alden Frank Briscoe, all favorite uncles, cousins and family members of mine. My grandfather, Sandy Brown (ACB), studied at MIT for 2 degrees in chemical engineering in the 1920s (something like a BS and MS), and went to Phillips Exeter Academy for high school, and had 9 patents to his name regarding fatty acids; he also played the western classical piano beautifully.
Benjamin Lincoln (January 24, 1733 (O.S. January 13, 1732) â May 9, 1810), in the Chadbourne line, received the sword of surrender from the British in the Revolutionary War and fought in Shay's rebellion. I'm familiar with some of the Chadbourne history through William Chadbourne in England in the late 1500s but don't know who preceded him. William Chadbourne (1582 - aft. 1652) crossed the Atlantic on the Pied Cow (Pide-Cowe) in 1634. Lt. Alexander Scammel Chadbourne (1831-1900) of Maine, I think, (see Jim W. Corder's book "Hunting Lieutenant Chadbourne" which contains letters by my grandfather, ACB, as well as being a good read) who fought in the War of the Rebellion and the Battle of Chickamauga around 1862, is also in this line. Fort Chadbourne in Texas is named after him. Who came before them?
Sarah Bolles (20 Jan 1656 - 1694), who married Humphrey Chadbourne (14 generations back from this author), reportedly comes from a long, documented line of kings and queens in Scotland, England and France (see Bacon's "The Chadbourne Family in America: A Family Genealogy" and, also - https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Bolles-Family-Tree-66): "Sarah Bolles has a well-established royal descent from Edward I, King of England (1272-1307) and many earlier Kings of England, Scotland and France, as published in 'Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists' by Frederick Lewis Weis, 7th Edition [1992] compiled by Walter Lee Sheppard, Jr." Here's what the online Encyclopedia Britannica says about Edward I:
"b. June 17, 1239, Westminster, Middlesex, Eng. d. July 7, 1307, Burgh by Sands, near Carlisle, CumberlandHereâs what the online Encyclopedia Britannica said about Edward Iâs parents:
byname EDWARD LONGSHANKS son of Henry III and king of England in 1272-1307, during a period of rising national consciousness. He strengthened the crown and Parliament against the old feudal nobility. He subdued Wales, destroying its autonomy; and he sought (unsuccessfully) the conquest of Scotland. His reign is particularly noted for administrative efficiency and legal reform. He introduced a series of statutes that did much to strengthen the crown in the feudal hierarchy. His definition and emendation of English common law has earned him the name of the "English Justinian." "
"Edward was the eldest son of King Henry III* and Eleanor of Provence*. In 1254 he was given the duchy of Gascony, the French Oléron, the Channel Islands, Ireland, Henry's lands in Wales, and the earldom of Chester, as well as several castles. Henry negotiated Edward's marriage with Eleanor of Castile*, half sister of Alfonso X of Leon and Castile. Edward married Eleanor at Las Huelgas in Spain (October 1254) and then traveled to Bordeaux to organize his scattered appanage. He now had his own household and officials, chancery and seal, with an exchequer (treasury) at Bristol Castle; though nominally governing all his lands, he merely enjoyed the revenues in Gascony and Ireland. He returned to England in November 1255 and attacked Llywelyn ap Gruffudd*, prince of Gwynedd, to whom his Welsh subjects had appealed for support when Edward attempted to introduce English administrative units in his Welsh lands. Edward, receiving no help from either Henry or the marcher lords, was defeated ignominiously. His arrogant lawlessness and his close association with his greedy Poitevin uncles, who had accompanied his mother from France, increased Edward's unpopularity among the English. But after the Poitevins were expelled, Edward fell under the influence of Simon de Montfort*, his uncle by marriage, with whom he made a formal pact. Montfort was the leader of a baronial clique that was attempting to curb the misgovernment of Henry." (See, too: https://www.britannica.com/biography/Henry-III-king-of-England-1207-1272 and https://www.britannica.com/biography/Eleanor-of-Provence and https://www.britannica.com/biography/Eleanor-of-Castile and https://www.britannica.com/biography/Llywelyn-ap-Gruffudd and https://www.britannica.com/biography/Simon-de-Montfort-earl-of-Leicester).Jeremiah O'Brien is also a direct ancestor from the revolutionary war period, who fired the first naval shot, and I'm interested in how he relates to the rest of the tree. (I recall learning this from my grandmother, Rachel Gilbert Brown, too. Granny Brown was both an 'oral historian,' - she talked a lot :) - and interested in family genealogy. She seemed especially interested in her husband Grandpa Sandy Brown's family history). Here's a newly found reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiah_O%27Brien.
"Edward I* reluctantly accepted the Provisions of Oxford* (1258), which gave effective government to the barons at the expense of the king. On the other hand, he intervened dramatically to support the radical Provisions of Westminster* (October 1259), which ordered the barons to accept reforms demanded by their tenants...â The Encyclopedia Britannica continues for many more pages about Edward I (https://www.britannica.com/event/Provisions-of-Oxford and https://www.britannica.com/topic/Provisions-of-Westminster and from https://www.britannica.com/biography/Edward-I-king-of-England accessed July 19, 2020).
I'm also interested in who came before my great grandfather Alden Hugh Brown, a mining engineer. James Brown?
My mother's mother's father was Oscar Gilbert, MD of Boulder Colorado, who married Agnes Kirkbride who also had roots in Missouri, Virginia, and Colorado. Some of Agnes Kirkbride's forbears, one named Jane Horn, came from Kirbythor and Appleby in the north of England, not far from Newcastle-on-Tyne. My grandmother received some heirlooms from her, because her mother assisted Jane Horn financially at some point, I think. How does she fit into the line?
My motherâs mother, Rachel Gilbert Brown, who had a great interest in family history also said that we have a Native American Cherokee ancestor, only a few generations before her. Where does he (I think) fit in the line?
Some of Oscar Gilbert, MD's ancestors, the Powells, came from Virginia in the late 1700's. Who came before them?
There's possibly another Native American ancestor from Virginia (per cousin Susan Gilbert Harvey) in this line.
And what will genetic genealogy research show?
New information?

Cuttyhunk island, Massachusetts
My family first started going to Cuttyhunk island, MA, in 1966, and we stayed in both the Allen House, and the Bosworth House, 2 inns, in those first years. We've continued to go back every summer since, beginning to rent Piney's House around 1969 or so, renting it from the niece of Hetty Shepherd Wheeler (a dean at former women's college in the Boston area), named Betty Garretson, and thanks to having learned about Piney's House (a Walpole cottage) from Eleanor Moore (Granny Moore), whom my parents knew through the Unitarian Universalist church in the Boston area. My father, growing up in the Boston area, had first gone to Cuttyhunk island as a kid in the 1930s, I think.

My family, Gordon K. MacLeod MD, Janet Brown MacLeod, and younger brother, Sandy MacLeod moved to Hamden, CT, when my father joined the Yale faculty.
moved to New Haven, CT, in the middle of the 1960s
My family, Gordon K. MacLeod MD, Janet Brown MacLeod, and younger brother, Sandy MacLeod moved to Hamden, CT, when my father joined the Yale faculty. I first went to Putnam Street School, then Newhall Street School in Hamden, for 2nd-5th grade, then Ridge Hill School, a brand new school architecturally designed with open classrooms, and with names like Apollo and Gemini, (re the remarkable US space program then). Open classroom schools were a radical re-envisioning of education. (After one year at Ridge Hill School around 1971, I think, my family moved to the DC area, where I attended another open classroom school, Green Acres School in Rockville, MD, (inspired by John Dewey), where I attended 6th, and 7th grade, but for 6th months of which, my family all lived in Geneva, Switzerland.

I moved to Portland, OR, from Pittsburgh, PA, to attend Reed College. I lived the first semester in the Sisson dormitory (cross-Canyon), and then moved into a 'communal' Reed house in January 1980 on Clinton St. in SE Portland near People's Food Co-op
Reed College years in Portland, Oregon
I moved to Portland, OR, from Pittsburgh, PA, to attend Reed College in 1979, and lived there on and off until 1987, when I moved to the Philadelphia area. At Reed, I lived the first semester in the Sisson dormitory (cross-Canyon), and then moved into a 'communal' Reed house in January 1980 on Clinton St. in SE Portland near People's Food Co-op. I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail for 3.5 months after my first year (about 2/3rds of it), moved into the Brooklyn Street house, another 'Reed House,' after this, studied for a year in Munich, Germany, 1981-1982, through a Reed College program, hiked the PCT a second time in 1982 in the state of Washington, about half of it from the Canadian border south, and after graduating with a degree in Religion in 1985, I continued to live in the Brooklyn Street House, with an interest in communities (including visiting Alpha Farm a number of times, and also while working in Kline's Cyclamen nursery in Lake Oswego / Beaverton, OR, for 2 seasons). During these years, I also visited my favorite Uncle and Aunt Ted and Mary Brown at their tree ranch in eastern Oregon, Wisdom Creek Ranch, Medical Springs, Oregon, (near both Union, and La Grande, Oregon, too).
1981-1982Munich, Bavaria, Germany
Through Reed College, I went to study at the University of Munich (LMU) & also through a study abroad program with Lewis & Clark college, where classes met in Olympiazentrum. I lived in Studentenstadt in Egon Wiberg House on the English Gardens
Studying in Munich, Bavaria, Germany
Through a Reed College program, I went to study at the University of Munich (LMU) & also through a study abroad program in conjunction with Lewis & Clark college, where classes met in Olympiazentrum. I lived in Studentenstadt in Egon Wiberg House on the 6th floor on the English Gardens. During this year, I won a very small ZIS stipendium to study bagpiping in Scotland, and recall traveling to Scotland, and taking a workshop with the great piper Duncan Johnstone. I think the paper I had to write for this still exists in the library at Schloss Salem, a headquarters of the UNESCO ZIS program.
Jan 1982Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, USA
I think I moved into the Brooklyn Street House, at 2202 SE Brooklyn Street, Portland, Oregon, 97202, as a Reed College student, in January of 1982 and lived in this collective house with other Reed students on and off through 1987, when I moved back east
Moved into the Brooklyn Street 'Reed House'
I think I moved into the Brooklyn Street House, at 2202 SE Brooklyn Street, Portland, Oregon, 97202, as a Reed College student, in January of 1982, and lived in this collective house with other Reed students on and off through 1987, when I moved back east to the Philadelphia area, to study then at Pendle Hill, a Quaker Center for Study and Contemplation, for year. I had an interest in living in community, both from the Reed collective houses, I had lived in, as well as Alpha Farm in the Oregon coast range, and from Quakers too, who have a long history of growing communities, both in Quaker Meetings, and in other ways.
1985Portland, Multnomah, Oregon
I received my college diploma in 1985 from Reed College in Portland, OR, in Religion (in German too). My senior thesis was on Rosemary Ruether's 1983 book "Sexism God-Talk" http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/201...
1987Cuttyhunk island, Massachusetts, USA
My parents were able to buy Piney's House on Cuttyhunk island in 1987, the house my family had rented since around 1969 or so, & which was so small my brother and I had to sleep outside in a tent (2 tents) every summer for years, an outside address :)
Piney's House, Cuttyhunk island, MA

1987-1991Wallingford, Delaware county, Pennsylvania, USA
I moved from Portland, OR, to Pendle Hill (a Quaker study center), in Wallingford, PA, near Swarthmore College, as a student for 3 semesters. (I had wanted to study Yoga with Mary Dunn, who had just moved from San Diego to NYC, but which didn't work out).
Pendle Hill Quaker Center for Study and Contemplation
I moved from Portland, Oregon, to Pendle Hill (a Quaker Center for Study and Contemplation), in Wallingford, PA, near Swarthmore College, in the Philadelphia area, as a student for 3 terms. (I had wanted to study Yoga with Mary Dunn, who had just moved from San Diego to NYC, but which didn't work out). My Uncle Bruce MacLeod (my father's youngest sibling) had been a student at Pendle Hill as well, and helped me become familiar with it. After studying for a year, I found a place to stay in the attic of the local Quakers' Sam & Jane James' house, in Media, PA (a beautiful 1 acre property), and worked in the Pendle Hill Bookstore / Pendle Hill Publishing for 2 1/2 years, community on my bicycle, even through winter, to Pendle Hill from here. (I became a member of the Society of Friends - RSOF - some years later, while studying in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2003-2004 - http://www.quakerquaker.org/profile/ScottMacLeod - and involved in the Central Edinburgh Quaker Meeting). Am interested these days in Nontheist Friends.
1991-2001San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA
I moved to San Francisco in 1991 to study at the Iyengar Yoga Center, where I completed a 2 year CA certificate program in 1 year because I had a good practice, thanks to Dona Holleman's self-published books "Yoga for Teacher & Student" & "Asana.."
Studying & Teaching Yoga in SF
I moved to San Francisco in 1991 to study at the Iyengar Yoga Center on Taraval St., where I completed a 2 year CA certificate program in 1 year because I had a good daily Yoga practice, thanks to Dona Holleman's self-published companion books "Yoga for Teacher & Student" & "Asana in Photo." Since 1991, I've lived in about 5 different places in the SF Bay Area since then, on and off, - Park Merced in SF, on Stuart Street in Berkeley, on upper Market Street in SF, from 1994-2001, and at 2909 Ashby Street, in Berkeley, CA, 94705 in the 'Tree House': ), and now in Canyon, CA 94516. I enjoyed taking Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten's Yoga workshops first in around 1984, in Portland, Oregon, due to their creativity and vision, especially.
1994-20013632 Market Street, San Francisco, CA, 94131
I lived in the Garden Cottage here from 1994-2001, above the Romaine Street pedestrian bridge over Market St, riding my bicycle up Market Street with an early little ZAP electric motor, and teaching Yoga. Bill Roberts was landlord living in front domicile.
Living on upper Market Street while teaching Yoga in SF
I lived in the Garden Cottage at 3632 Market St. from 1994-2001, behind a whole row of houses, and looking out in 2 directions on gardens. I only rode my bicycle in those years (as a Friendly witness for global warming even) and rode up Market Street with an early, little ZAP electric motor, and while both teaching Yoga, as well as hearing many great San Francisco Symphony Concerts while working there as well. Bill Roberts was my landlord living in front domicile of 3632, and we still occasionally share a meal together.
2001-2003Goleta, Santa Barbara, California, USA
I moved to study at the university of California, Santa Barbara for a MA in sociocultural anthropology from 2001-2003, living in Goleta. After getting a Master's, I decided to go to Edinburgh to study for my Ph.D., but instead only wrote a M.Sc. thesis.

I moved to study Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received a MA in sociocultural anthropology in 2003, living in Goleta or Isla Vista. After getting the Master's degree. I wrote some anthropology theory papers there, which references you can find here - http://scottmacleod.com/papers.htm. I decided to go to Edinburgh to study for my Ph.D., but instead only wrote a M.Sc. thesis on St. Kilda, the island archipelago off the west coast of Scotland - as virtual place which one could visit online in new ways - and the networks of the Internet and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

I worked in the Harbin office answering the phones "Hello this is Harbin Hot Springs, how may I help you" and taking reservations. I stayed in the Fern dormitory close to the pool area, and soaked often in those lovely pools, a kind of meditation.

Thanks for your mail. I'll seek to send you a Google Meet video conference invitation tomorrow to your gmail address at 9am Pacific Time (is this 9:30 pm in India where you are?) and Larry Viehland will likely be on the telephone with me. We'll see who else joins WUaS Monthly Business Meeting; you'll get further information too about World Univ & Sch's process (which is conducted loosely in the manner of Friends / Quakers' Monthly Business Meetings). Perhaps we could explore further developing India World Univ & Sch in Hindi, as well as the India Law School at World University and School (first in English and in Hindi).
India World University & School beginnings (as wiki too) - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/India - and check out the MIT OpenCourseWare eventually for credit potentially on the Open edX platform in particular. (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States)
Hindi language WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Hindi_language (planned in Hindi)
India World Univ & Sch - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/India_Law_School_at_WUaS( https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Law_School )
Am hoping the information technologies work out well tomorrow.
With best regards, Scott

WUaS Monthly Business Meeting begins in about 30 minutes (and on 3rd Saturdays at 9am Pacific Time, for one hour). What time will it be in India for you, Rohit? (Time Zone navigation https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html - can be initially challenging!). See you soon in Google Meet, Rohit - and I'll send you the link in a half hour! Thank you!

I'm sorry you weren't able to join WUaS's Monthly Business Meeting. What happened from your end? Let's test this before another meeting. What is the time difference? (Meeting in Mondays' WUaS LiveStreams News Q & A at 10 am Pacific Time could work if you'd like to talk; these meet every week too - https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html ). And what questions do you have?
Or your joining next month's WUaS Monthly Business Meeting could work as well - on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 9 am Pacific Time.
Meeting this Monday, July 20 at 10 am Pacific Time could work for me. Or another time and day! Please let me know. Let's talk soon.

A. If we can create something in India, what kind of assistance and role shall be taken over by WUaS?
B. What is going to be my role in it? Especially when I have great networking in universities around the corners of the country, do you think a position or leadership role can be performed by me, before I join my law firm?
C. If yes, is this not for profit organization? Even if it is, I am glad to help because even I want to learn edupreneurship from a reputed person like yourself?
Looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks in anticipation

Thank you for your response.
1Could we try meeting on M 20th July at 9:30 am Pacific Time in Google Meet - what time is this in India where you are - https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html - and what's the time difference; is it a 12 1/2 hours or 13 /12 hours or an other time difference?) ... I'll seek to provide the googlemeet link about 5 minutes' beforehand.
2I would then, 30 minutes later at 10am Pacific Time, proceed to hold the WUaS Livestream News (via a different platform called LightStream which records to Youtube) and you could join this as well, if interested.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdURAADdLc9ctxnbismtXzQ/live(which is accessible from https://www.youtube.com/user/WorldUnivandSch)
A This is the beginning of India WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/India (which will grow to 1000s of wiki pages) - and hopefully WUaS will be able to offer https://ocw.mit.edu/ on the Open edX platform for free to students' degrees in India. After English, courses in Hindi would follow and then in all 22 official languages in India.
BLet's talk about this, and email about this in conversation. It would be interesting to develop India World Univ & Sch on the Google Sites' platform in the Hindi language, for example, like Sri Lanka WUaS here - https://sites.google.com/view/worlduniversityandschool/srilanka - thanks to Rifai in Sri Lanka. And let's see what leadership role for you emerges out of this conversation, and related set of developments. Let's talk about this soon further. It's the Open edX courses from MIT OCW that will make WUaS different from great Indian universities, but you also have much knowledge about how INdian students could best benefit from the best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare Open edX courses. (This blog post too might give you further insight into a recent parallel Sri Lanka World Univ & Sch - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/sri-lankan-elephant-mooc-it-france-edx.html).
CIn the USA, and in California, WUaS is a 501 c 3 tax exempt non-profit, on the World Univ & Sch side, and as a legal entity. It's also a second legal entity in California, the WUaS Corporation. Both are planned as services in all ~200 countries and in all 7117 known living languages. How these play out in India are questions you would have much knowledge about as a law student as well. More to talk about here.
See you this Monday, July 20, at 9:30 am Pacific Time in Google Meet, and where I'll send the Google Meet link around 9:25 am Pacific Time - to your Gmail (because I think Google Meet works better with a Gmail address)?
Thank you for your interest in World University and School (which is like the best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare - - in 4 languages , and Wikipedia in 300 languages), Rohit.

WUaS is developing with aspects of the MIT Media Lab's creativity, and is also seeking high achieving Indian students for free-to-students' online degrees (in English, then Hindi, then in the other official languages in India).
This is in Japanese, from a MIT Media Lab professor, and might be translatable better from Japanese into Hindi - https://twitter.com/ishii_mit_BOT/status/1284557565158805504?s=20than this translation -
"MIT Media Lab is fully paid for tuition and salary. What you need is originality, co-creation, competitiveness â¶http://bit.ly/zilg2x RT mobius1_F22A: ishii_mit I would like to hit it out if I have money and ability. But the most important thing is enthusiasm and belief..." (which is a so, so translation into English).
