5 Digital Nomads Reveal Their Secrets on How to Become a Digital Nomad in 2024

Want to become a digital nomad in 2024?

Want to travel the world while working full-time remotely?

Whether you are an aspiring digital nomad looking for actionable tips or a new digital nomad seeking more ideas to grow, this roundup post is for you!

I asked some experienced digital nomads the following question:

If you have tips or practical advice on how to become a digital nomad, start a successful travel blog, get a remote job, or anything similar, I’d love to hear from you and publish your thoughts in my blog post.

As a beginner traveler new to the digital nomad world, learning the best practices can be overwhelming.

The tips listed below reflect the hard work and experience of various successful digital nomads and online entrepreneurs. I’m confident their advice will help you grow as a digital nomad.

Let’s dive right in.

Digital nomad 1

1. If you’re dreaming of the digital nomad lifestyle, the biggest decision you’ll need to make is how to fund your lifestyle.

There are a lot of different ways to become a digital nomad. You can start your own business offering digital skills as a freelancer; you can get hired as an employee with a fully remote company; you can become a successful content creator. Throughout my nearly 5 years as a digital nomad, I’ve done it all. Some things I’ve enjoyed, some I couldn’t wait to move on from.

If you’re dreaming of the digital nomad lifestyle, the biggest decision you’ll need to make is how to fund your lifestyle. The beauty of being a digital nomad is certainly the freedom it brings with it, so you’ll need a way to make an income from wherever in the world you want to hop to.

Each of the main income revenues outlined above comes with a web of specifics but you’ll want to start from the general and work your way to the nitty-gritty.

Here are some pros and cons you’ll want to keep in mind when making your decision:

1. As a freelancer:Pros: You get you to set your own schedule and work only in what you enjoy and have experience with. You’ll have the most freedom as a freelancer since you won’t have a boss telling you when you need to work and from where.Cons: You’ll have to find your own clients, so will constantly need to be in sales mode. If you don’t do the work, you won’t get paid, so it really relies on you having the motivation to get things done even when there’s a beautiful beach right outside your door.2. As an employee:Pros: You’ll earn a stable paycheck, so you can easily choose places that you know you can afford. You know your responsibilities on a day-to-day basis and don’t have to worry about the admin side of the business.Cons: You’ll be stuck with their schedule. It can be tough to navigate time zones if you require any “face-to-face” online meetings throughout your day. You’ll need to prove to your boss that you can be self-sufficient and work from anywhere.3. As a content creator:Pros: You get to be creative and utilize the platform you enjoy the most. This could be social media, a travel blog, or a mixture of the two. Just like as a freelancer, you’re your own boss, but in this job your main objective is to share about your travels.Cons: It can be time-consuming and a long journey to monetize this. It’s certainly possible but know that it will take a lot of “free” work until you start to make significant money as a content creator.

Once you’ve chosen which of these 3 paths you most prefer, put your head down and focus on how you’ll achieve it. The moment your online income starts to roll in, it’s time to buy that plane/train/bus ticket and hit the road as a digital nomad!

2. That’s why many digital nomads burn out.

One of the most important steps to becoming a digital nomad is setting realistic expectations.

Without realistic expectations, you won’t last long.

To set realistic expectations, first determine what your work needs and goals are. This is different for everyone, depending on the type of digital nomad jobs you have.

Are you working as a full-time employee for a remote company? Don’t expect to be at the beach every day with your friends.

Wanna spend every day at the beach with your friends? Don’t expect to work full-time or be as productive as you would be at home.

In fact, unless you’re staying in one spot for several months at a time, you should never expect to be as productive as you would be at home.

Hopping from place to place is awesome, and it’s totally doable for short stints. But know that the more you move, the more you have to plan. Move too fast for too long and the logistics involved will start to feel like a second job.

That’s why many digital nomads burn out.

You can avoid this by shifting your mindset. It’s natural to feel FOMO, and we all have the urge to see as much as possible. But as a digital nomad, it’s not necessary.

You’re not on a two-week vacation anymore. It’s perfectly fine to “miss” some of the highlights that all the other short-term travelers are raving about. Because unlike those short-term travelers, you can return to a country as many times as you want.

If it’s helpful, don’t think of it as traveling in different countries as a digital nomad. You’re now living in different countries.

There’s no rush.

And the sooner you let that sink in, the more you’ll enjoy being a digital nomad.

3. Make it a habit to routinely look at your bank account and see how much money is coming and going.

One of the most impactful things that you do to help yourself become a digital nomad is to learn how to budget. If you don’t have control over your spending, stress and anxiety about finances will constantly infringe on your travel experiences.

Budgeting can feel like a dirty word, but start this week with a cash grocery budget. Decide on how much money you’re willing to spend on groceries per week, and take out that much cash.

Use a week-by-week budget instead of a monthly budget because it’s easier to succeed and if you do slip up, failure doesn’t last longer than a few days before your budget resets.

Also make it a habit to routinely look at your bank account and see how much money is coming and going. This will help you develop a positive relationship with your finances, and be proactive rather than reactive.

Budgeting is often only associated with saving money, but it gives you a sense of control that’s invaluable.

When you’re a digital nomad without a home base, having a sense of control over your money (one of the most important aspects of your life) will improve your travel experience radically.

4. One of the best ways to combat burnout and fatigue is by embracing slow travel.

One of the frequently overlooked elements of travel as a digital nomad is pacing. Many travelers feel that to really be nomadic, they need to move as fast as possible and see as much as possible.

But this can often lead to burnout and fatigue, where you don’t really enjoy the moment you’re living in because you’re constantly planning the next part.

One of the best ways to combat this can be by embracing slow travel.

Slow travel can involve spending more time in one place and really getting to know the area before moving on. This gives you more time to discover hidden gems and immerse yourself in local culture.

It can also give you more time to explore the activities that you personally find most interesting, whether it’s hiking up a volcano or spotting wild sloths

Having days off travel can also be a great way to recharge or to get remote work completed before moving on.

Lingering in one place longer is also a great way to make connections through networking with like-minded travelers in the local community.

By establishing a base more frequently, you can also be sure of a consistent Wi-Fi connection, which can ease work anxiety and make it easier to meet deadlines.

Slow travel can also be a great way to stretch your budget for longer. By booking the accommodation longer-term, you can often secure favorable renting rates.

And by choosing accommodation with cooking facilities, nomads can save so much money on food by grocery shopping and batch cooking.

These tips can all help a digital nomad to regain a feeling of control in their life and achieve a better work-life balance while on the road.

5. The biggest roadblock for many digital nomads is making their lifestyle “nomad-friendly”.

The first step to becoming a digital nomad is letting go of clutter.

Getting a remote job and learning how to make money online is pretty easy in the modern world. So, while this is most definitely an important step, it is easier than you would imagine.

The biggest roadblock for many digital nomads is making their lifestyle “nomad-friendly”.

As a digital nomad, you’ll need to be able to fit all of your essential possessions in just one or two pieces of luggage. This likely means selling your Xbox, throwing out the boxes of random stuff under your bed, and essentially storing or getting rid of 90% of the things you own.

This is a pretty major transition. It can be pretty difficult for new nomads to cut down their wardrobe to a travel-friendly collection, and deciphering which of your possessions are necessary and which aren’t is a major challenge.

It took me a few tries to become truly minimalist. I made a list of everything I owned and decided what I would actually use in the next 2 years, and what would just become annoying clutter, weighing me down as I traveled the world.

Beyond physical possessions, you also must make your financial life more “digital nomad-friendly”.

Most digital nomads don’t start making a consistent full-time income right away, so it is important to make sure you are in control of your finances. This involves ending all your useless monthly subscriptions.

End that gym membership you no longer use, sell your car, and rid yourself of any financial burdens that will make your nomad journey more difficult. The trick isn’t to make more money, but instead to be fully in control of your money so that you can do what you want with each dollar.

From Hitchhiking Bliss to a Survival Night in Dzukou Valley: Lost in the Wild and Lessons Learned

From the best hitchhiking experience in Northeast India to a thrilling Dzukou Valley trek where we found ourselves lost in the wild, discover the valuable lessons we learned and the mistakes we made.

9 June — Hitchhiking — Guwahati to Dimapur

Abeer and I were at a mosque at night in Guwahati, Assam, and in the morning, we decided to hitchhike to Dimapur, Nagaland.

We took multiple cars and one e-rickshaw. All the people were so welcoming and kind, but the e-rickshaw driver deserves a special mention.

He saw our lift card and stopped, telling us he was going to Khanapara, Guwahati. We hopped on, and as we talked, he was so happy. After reaching Khanapara, he gave us money to reach our next destination.

I told him repeatedly that we didn’t need the money, but he insisted, saying it would make things easier for us. His kindness made me emotional. He wasn’t wealthy, but he had the richest heart.

Then, we got a ride from some college students in a car, followed by a car ride to Dimapur with two guys from Karnataka.

At the end of the day, we decided to stay at the Gurudwara in Dimapur. The room was great, with electricity, three beds, a fan, and washroom facilities.

We had our dinner (langar) at 8:30 PM. There was daal, chawal, roti, and lassi. I don’t drink lassi, so I only had roti, sabji, and daal chawal. It was great and tasty.

10 June — Hitchhiking — Dimapur to Kohima

We had our breakfast around 10 AM and did some seva (service) in the langar, moving utensils from one floor to another.

We left the Gurudwara and informed them that we might visit again after our Dzukou Valley trek.

Then, we went to the police station to get our Inner Line Permit (ILP).

They told us to visit the DC office, but an officer informed us that we couldn’t get the ILP that day or the next as everyone was busy with the election.

We had applied for the ILP two days ago, but it was still showing as “under process.”

We visited a computer shop to see if they could help arrange ILPs for us. The lady called someone but said it wasn’t possible.

However, she assured us we could travel and that nothing would happen if we explained our situation.

We then started hitchhiking to Kohima.

After waiting for a long time, an auto driver gave us a lift, followed by another auto.

Finally, we got a truck ride to Lalmati. It was my first time hitchhiking on a truck, and I enjoyed the stunning view of the hills while relaxing in the cool breeze. The driver was from Assam and he was a great guy.

From Lalmati, two guys from Dimapur gave us a lift in their car to Kohima. We decided to stay the night at Kohima Mosque.

While hitchhiking, we both received notifications that our ILPs were approved, we paid the required fee (Rupees 100 for me and Rupees 50 for Abeer) and received our ILPs online.

11 June — Hitchhiking — Kohima to Zakhama

After waiting for a long time in Kohima, we got a lift to Zakhama village from Savi Uncle, who works as a guide in Dzukou Valley.

The Worst Trekking Experience Ever — Lost In the Wild.

We reached Zakhama and began trekking around 12 PM. After trekking for about six hours, we almost reached the peak but lost our route.

We screamed for help and got some responses, but no one came.

We decided to return to the mid-rest house, but it was already dark.

We pitched our tent in the middle of the jungle, on the edge of a cliff. It wasn’t safe, but we had no energy left. We had no food, no water, and no other options.

We were just hoping for rain to get some water.

We placed two pots outside the tent for rainwater and hoped for the best.

With no network, we couldn’t call for help. It was the worst trekking experience to date.

I just hoped to wake up healthy the next morning and considered stopping the journey and returning home.

12 June — Struggling to Survive: Our Search for Help

I couldn’t sleep at night.

In the morning, we tried to find a route but failed.

We had no energy, food, or water.

After realizing we couldn’t find a route, we tried contacting local guides from a place where there was little network availability, but no one was awake.

We called Dawn Homestay for a local guide. The owner was responsive and tried her best, but everyone was asleep.

We also called Savi Uncle, who also tried to help.

We then called all our friends and family. They provided us with numbers and contacted the police.

Finally, we connected with a rescue team who told us to stay at the location. They promised to arrive within an hour or two.

Here’s the update I posted on my Instagram story:

“We’re in the middle of the jungle without water and food since 3 PM yesterday.

We started the Dzukou Valley trek from a new route without a guide, which was our first mistake. Our second mistake was not carrying enough water and food.

We’ve contacted a rescue team, and they should arrive within two hours. Let’s hope for the best.

We’re waiting in the middle of the jungle with limited network availability. We can’t move because we don’t know the route, we have no energy, and we might lose energy and network connection if we try to move.

We’re just waiting for the local guide.

Thanks for all the support.

Thanks a lot @baldeepdhurkot @andrenoarii @thisissanidol, Dawn Homestay, Savi Uncle, and all my friends and well-wishers.

See you soon ❤

Finally, three local guides came, gave us food and water, carried our rucksacks, and dropped us at Dawn Homestay, Zakhama.

The Mistakes Made and Lessons Learned: Reflections from Our Trek

We made many mistakes:

We started the trek late.We carried heavy rucksacks. We went on the trek without a guide. We didn’t carry enough water.

We learned many lessons.

We’ll never trek without a guide again, start trekking in the morning, pack our backpacks light, and always carry enough water and dry fruits.

We realized the importance of water. Spending 18 hours without water was incredibly difficult. We survived by eating sugar, dry Electral powder, and three palm fruits.

Why I Always Travel with SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: Peace of Mind for Every Adventure

Is it worth buying travel insurance before traveling around the world?

What is it really, and what can it protect you from during fascinating adventures in the farthest corners of the world? Or maybe you are a digital nomad and want to live in a beautiful, exotic place?

Read this blog post to the end, and you’ll find out what insurance I use, what its conditions are, and in what situations it may be useful.

What is Travel Insurance, and What Does It Provide?

Travel insurance is my protection when traveling.

Having appropriate insurance protects me against medical costs in the event of an accident or illness, as well as costs resulting from flight delays and theft of electronics or equipment I travel with.

Since I also work remotely while traveling, I have a laptop, and camera with me, which I would not like to lose.

If I need medical help or go to the hospital during my trip, the insurance company will cover all the costs, giving me peace of mind. I don’t have to stress about a high bill.

Remember that in some countries, the costs of treatment are very high. If you do not have a policy with a high sum insured, you must cover all costs yourself (doctor’s care, medical transport, hospital stay, or medications).

What Insurance Do I Use When Traveling Around the World?

When traveling around the world, I always have an insurance policy. Having done a lot of research, I chose SafetyWing Nomad insurance.

This is an absolute necessity for me! This gives me complete peace and mental comfort. I know that in the event of an unplanned event or accident, I am fully protected.

Fortunately, I didn’t have a chance to use it. However, it provides me with psychological comfort and the knowledge that in case of problems, I am covered by solid insurance that I can rely on. Below you will find the current insurance conditions:

Guaranteed sum insured: $250,000Own contribution: $250 (paid only once during the annual insurance period)Emergency dental treatment: up to $1,000Lost checked baggage: up to $3,000Civil liability: up to $25,000Medical transport: up to $100,000What is SafetyWing?

SafetyWing is a new travel medical insurance provider that launched in 2018. Based in California, this Norwegian start-up is entirely remote and specializes in providing coverage for low-cost travelers and digital nomads; however, you don’t have to be either to be covered.

Run by expats and nomads, they are well aware of the needs of travelers of this nature. You can purchase a policy even if your trip has already started. You can pause and resume coverage with flexibility. 185 countries are covered, and you don’t need to inform them about your itinerary in advance.

SafetyWing offers budget-friendly basic insurance plans (called “Nomad Insurance”) for a fraction of what other companies charge for almost similar coverage. In my opinion, they are the best travel insurance company available on the market.

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance image

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance 2.0 – Everything You Need to Know!

What Changes Were Introduced in Version 2.0?

Extreme sports: The insurance covers over 30 extreme sports, such as diving, boxing, and quad riding.Electronics theft: If stolen, you will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for each item (laptop, phone, camera, or other electronic devices). The procedure for reporting damage has been simplified, and the waiting time for decisions has been significantly shortened.

The above changes in the insurance offered mean that the offer is more tailored to my travel preferences and the way I travel around the world.

In What Situations Can an Insurance Policy Be Useful?

They say that accidents happen to people, but fortunately, they pass me by. However, I prefer to “play it safe” and always be prepared and equipped with decent insurance. One that will provide me with the necessary financial assistance in the event of an accident or natural disaster (I often visit at-risk regions).

How to File a Claim?

Using SafetyWing’s website, submitting a claim is simple.

All you have to do is upload the necessary documents, screenshots, and images, then wait for a response.

The majority of claims are processed in less than a week, while they can take up to 45 working days. As of 2024, SafetyWing’s average claim handling time is just four days.

That’s much faster than most companies!

You must file a claim within 60 days of your insurance expiration date. In some cases, you may need to let them know in advance so that they can make the necessary arrangements (such as for “Emergency transportation to a better equipped hospital”).

If you are hospitalized, you must notify them as soon as possible, at least before discharge. You may submit your claim as follows:

Pay yourself and submit a claim for reimbursement on the SafetyWing website, or email claims@safetywing.com.Reach out to their 24/7 assistance so that they can arrange for the payment. This option is not available for all types of claims.Do I Recommend SafetyWing Travel Insurance?

I definitely recommend SafetyWing travel insurance. For me, the biggest negative factor was the $250 deductible, which was eliminated last year.

Other positive points of this insurance, in my opinion, are:

Excellent cost-benefit ratioCoverage limit of up to $250,000 for medical care, hospitalization, and ambulance servicesCoverage in over 180 countries worldwide, allowing for flexible itineraries (an extra fee is charged only if you travel to the United States)Easy automatic renewal, which is great for people who do not know their travel end dateCovers both flexible trips and planned trips, regardless of durationCovers baggage delays up to $500 per item (total maximum coverage is $3,000)Provides food and accommodation for flight delays over 12 hours (limited to a maximum of $100 per day, for up to two days)Covers various adventure sports for an additional $10 per monthCovers even electronics theft, also for an extra $10 per month

I recommend carefully reading the coverage to ensure it aligns with your needs. For example, SafetyWing insurance does not cover professional or high-risk sports activities, pre-existing conditions, cancer treatment, or trips canceled before departure.

You can get a quote for free using the booking widget below.

Do you have any questions about the SafetyWing policy or travel insurance in general?

Don’t know how to choose the offer that best suits your travel style?

Do you have doubts?

Write a comment below, and I will try to help and advise you.

Mastering The Art Of Selling On Instagram: A Guide For Sellers

Words cannot express enough the impressive achievements of the digital era in turning what was once just a fancy Instagram fad into the sales powerhouse it is known for today.

However, in the same way, as all masterpieces require more than brushing, it is necessary to put a lot of effort into a perfect Instagram marketing plan.

Successfully selling online or selling on Instagram requires a wide range of artistic skills, strategies and deft knowledge of the ins and outs of the trade.

Please consider this tool to be a workspace made explicitly for you, to create space for all the things you will need to explore the ancient craft of sales in a radically social network platform known as Instagram.

Whether you are a budding startup or a thriving business empire, here you’ll find everything – from guides and checklists to inside tips and tricks — to help you succeed on Instagram.

All right then, my friend, let us begin our trip and turn your Instagram profile into an effective selling tool.

Instagram Fundamentals

What’s at the app’s essence – Instagram is like a vast visual choice, offering a digital mat for where style-telling and beauty have the upper hand.

Not only because of its slim design and a wide selection of tools that grow every day, but mostly because it is where you can find the sellers looking to get all the attention that can look as vibrant as a picture of art class.

However, as soon as you have a grasp of this, let us progress to more extra activities.

Instagram is generally about photos and videos, and you can add captions to them. Users interact with one another through comments, likes, and shares and also via direct messages.

It is broad and mighty in its reach, with its user set being composed of people from just about any age or vocation and from anywhere in the world as its users.

From that, a mix of users is very likely, which enables almost anyone to find something for themselves, e.g., small shop owners who would provide their unique and individual products.

A slick and formal Instagram page is your virtual showroom; the front space, which is very important, should have an impressive bio as roomy as a pop song and images as folksy as anything.

Whether it likes- what is Liked and who should scroll it- it is crucial to get into the minds of what is being. Having Instagram incorporated in a billion people’s lives is one of the most powerful social platforms globally.

A platform performs this task by proving that the youthful generation aged 18-34 years are its key demographic customers, and hence, it becomes an ideal platform for targeting companies.

They did not stop at just a title. Their wits and artistry are evident. The next thing you do is to optimize your page and contents so that they can readily be attended to by this following of yours.

Let us now talk about the other hand of the coin. There, you may be taken towards a place ardently depicting the scene where your efforts are rewarded by success in business.

Building Your Brand on Instagram

Imagine your Instagram account as a fresh and vividly colored tapestry, each thread representing the different elements of the brand identity you set for yourself.

The objective is to tell a story that meanings your values and mission to attract customers’ attention so that they differentiate your brand from the rest.

Here’s how to lay the cornerstone of your branding on Instagram:

Profile Aesthetics:

What people remember you by often comes from the first meeting. Get an appropriate profile picture as your profile that would uniquely showcase your brand, and make sure your bio is short, engaging, and has a call to action.

Content Strategy:

Being consistent in both your message and your visuals is what matters. Plan your posts to make a memorable appearance that tells the truth about your brand’s identity and principles.

This multipart show will be an audacious reiteration of your audiences’ most desired and required components.

Messaging:

Resound in that echo, clatter, and click. Your voice should be audible through the captioned, response, and storied hallways. Whether clever and bubbly or sincere and educational, ensure that are you in your authentic self.

If you want to join them, then the pioneers who’ve already created their small empires on Instagram should inspire you. You analyze the way they apply themes, color schemes, and direct connections for brand loyalty spark-up.

Recollecting branding on Instagram starts with more than colors, type fonts, and photography. It is an integrated mechanism to realize interaction with your audience.

Utilizing Instagram’s Features for Selling

Instagram is not just a place to show those who are green with envy, sunny side up. It is a populated shop plastered with selling space. In this guide, we will explore all the incredible features of Instagram, from which we can get followers to customers and hashtags to handshakes.

Hashtags: These activities aren’t only about the performances! They become your shortcuts that bring clients like a magnet from the street straight to your store. Borrow them, and you are more likely to be seen amongst the millions of posts on the Instagram bustling town.Stories: These are your references. Through the right content, they can make the customers unload their bags and then stunt shop. On the positive side, they are also the spot for time-sensitive promotions, which effectively create a mood of urgency that increases sales.Shoppable Posts: Make your feed the shop window. Label the products in pictures and let people shop merely by clicking. My store is like having a sales assistant in each post, where the commercial assistant is connected with the customers 24/7.

Utilizing this potential, you make the DNA of the digital market on Instagram. Every time you hit “post,” add a story, or launch a hashtag campaign, you are, in essence, casting out into the great Instagram ocean to lure the fish you want.

Creating Click-Worthy Content

In the lively marketplace of Instagram, you are the vivid stall that draws eyeballs. Creating scintillating written pieces is similar to a chef preparing a food décor; it should appeal to the eyes and the soul.

To create a banquet of this kind, start with top-notch visuals; let your videos and photos take someone’s thumb still when they are scrolling.

Put that together with a catchy caption that reads like a close friend is telling a little joke, and use hashtags like you would use salt in your food to make sure those who are hungry find you.

Storytelling is your secret weapon. It is not only about displaying the product that conveys the message but also creating a storyline that engages on an emotional level.

Develop a harmonious feed that integrates with the very core of your brand – a color scheme that translates your story to the Instagram canvas.

Harness the strength of the crowd via user-generated content and influencer partnerships and transform customers into your foremost advocates.

Utilizing Instagram Shopping

Instagram shoppable posts are just like transforming your feed into a beautiful shop front, compelling folks to get their items through the app. The Instagram shop will be a step-changing element, integrating a visual appeal and a seamless process with an opportunity to make purchases within the app.

Through utilizing tools like product tagging as well as shoppable posts then, they can quickly become your potential customers.

Seamless shopping experience: Instagram’s user-friendly design is designed so that buying is easy, aire to the chance of instant purchases from the feed.Shop optimization: Use the vast selection of instagram’s features and make your store irresistible. Remember to display top sellers, put items into categories, and take photos that appeal to customers.

Instagram exhibit is not merely about aesthetics; it has functional sense as well. Making sure there is a seamless addition of shopping features to your brand gives it the best chance of leveraging Instagram’s massive audience. What I’m trying to say here is that the simpler the transition will be from discovery to buying, the higher your chances are to win that sale.

Leveraging Instagram Insights For Success

By knowing which posts your audience delivers positive emotions, you can repeat that success. Let’s discover now this treasure trove of knowledge.

Engagement Metrics: Keep an eye on the likes, comments, saves, and shares. Think of them as the beacon that will light your way through the abundance of content.Reach and Impressions: These figures show you the distance that your content traveled, and in this way, you will be able to understand the world of digital better.Follower Activity: Identify peak times when your audience is mostly active. In this case, you’re acting like a party planner who arranges the party to be well-attended.Story Analytics: A story is like a short espresso shot of content. Track your distribution to see who is craving that jolt of your brand all over the world.

By ongoing analysis and adaptation, Instagram Insights may be the key that takes you on the path to a targeted, effective selling strategy. Therefore, don your detective hat and follow the clues towards the Insta-success!

Understanding Your Target Audience On Instagram

Launch of the Instagram sales campaign resembles throwing a dart to a balloon, so it is necessary to know where you must point. It’s essential to get a handle on your audience – the things people like, where they move, and what they do – are the foundation of your strategy.

Picture Instagram as a city with all the infinite people inside. Each citizen has their own lifestyle and habits.

Demographic Diversity: Instagram’s users are as diverse as a box of chocolates from those of different age groups, preferences, and walks of life.Behavioral Insights: Much as your footprints in the sand will get “translated’ by Instagram analytics, use these approaches to grasp the patterns of your audience. When are they online? What content makes them stop scrolling so that they act?Tailored Approach: After you have pinpointed the landscape of the audience’s world that you wish to explore, your content can be tailored to them as the chef does to his spices – your content will be prepared to suit the taste of the audience.

When you fine-tune your message to your audience’s heartbeat, you will not only speak their language but also dance to their desires and needs. Buysocialfame is steadfast in its dedication to offering real, superior Instagram followers, which will then lead to a sales harmonious manner.

Utilizing Instagram Marketing Strategies

If you consider the Instagram slideshow as your canvas for painting the brand you have, think of marketing strategies as a palette full of bold colors.

The potential of Instagram Ads and sponsored posts is similar to throwing an artist’s premium brushes into her hands – she can paint any audience she wants as effectively as if she threw a red splash in the middle of the gray sea.

Curate Eye-Catching Ads: Your ad should be more engaging than a cat video on a loop, which has no end. Marry the arresting visuals with the copy that directly addresses the hearts of your viewers.Target with Intent: Use Instagram’s thorough targeting choices to convey your message to your target people. Analyze and Optimize: Review how the audience interacts with it, find out what works better, improve it, and show only the best to the public in the next masterpiece later.

Through these tactics, you develop a brand presence that is no longer just visible but also felt.

I made more than $699 on Medium, without the Medium Partner Program. Here’s how!

As of now, I have over 3.5k followers on Medium, some of my posts went viral, and I have been a top writer on business topics multiple times.

Targeted traffic = Money

Whenever I write, I always try to write about my personal experiences, personal stories, and unfiltered thoughts, but I also try to add value at the same time. I think about SEO first when I write on my blog Inuidea.com, but I don’t force SEO on my writings on Medium. I just write from the bottom of my heart and I think it really works on Medium.

Basically, I got high quality traffic and made some money from Medium, even though the Medium Partner Program isn’t available in India.

Here are the income sources that helped me monetize my Medium account, and I made more than $699 on Medium, without the Medium Partner Program.

Buy Me a Coffee — $148

I love coffee.

Actually, I’m talking about Buy Me a Coffee.

I wrote an article on Medium a year ago when an anonymous person bought me a cup of coffee on Buy Me a Coffee. Since then, I occasionally receive contributions from my supporters.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“Financial support from someone you’ve never met is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. Having people send you money just because they enjoy your writing/work is great.”

You can read the full article here — Buy Me a Coffee — My New Income Stream?

It’s now easier for both my readers and clients to support me through my Buy Me a Coffee page because it’s straightforward, modern, and user-friendly.

As of now, I’ve received a total of $121 from my supporters on Buy Me a Coffee and received $27 as referral commissions.

If you haven’t already created your Buy Me a Coffee page, I recommend you create a Buy Me a Coffee page right now so that your biggest supporters can support you.

My referral link — https://www.buymeacoffee.com/invite/inuetc

Your supporters will definitely contribute, and sometimes even your clients may send you payments or tips through your Buy Me a Coffee page.

You can also start your shop to sell your digital products, as well as offer services and receive one-time or monthly contributions from your supporters.

If you’re not here to create a page, but because you appreciate my work, please consider showing some love on my Buy Me a Coffee page as well.

Sponsorship — $250

On April 24, 2023, I received an email from Vondy, an all-in-one AI platform.

“Hey Inu! Great to meet you.

Would you be interested in doing a collaboration?

A sponsored post would be excellent, showcasing Vondy’s specific tools and anything else that stands out to you on our platform. We would like you to conjure up the article for your audience.”

I regularly get sponsorship opportunities on Inuidea.com. I thought the guy wanted me to write about their product on Inuidea.com, so I sent a detailed email about the guidelines and the charges for publishing a sponsored post on Inuidea.com.

The guy replied saying that he actually wants me to write an article and publish it on my Medium account, not on Inuidea.com.

Here’s the screenshot of the email about the deal confirmation.

Sponsorship deal confirmation email - Inu Etc

Sponsorship deal confirmation email — Screenshot by Inu Etc

I wrote a detailed post about Vondy, sharing some of my favorite features. I published it on my Medium account, then I told them about it, and they replied.

“The article is fantastic! Thank you for the work you’ve done! We will send a payment to your PayPal ASAP. We really do appreciate the work you have done.”

That’s how I received $250 from Vondy for writing and publishing a sponsored post about them on Medium.

Affiliate marketing — $301

I wrote two controversial articles on Medium about AI, which received lots of hate comments, and my articles went viral.

In the call-to-action (CTA) of these articles, I promoted CopyAI, an AI writing tool. As a result, some of you guys created CopyAI accounts through my referral link, I earned some affiliate commissions.

Read more: Affiliate Marketing on Medium – My Success Story

Here’s the full story —  I made $200 using AI, but received hate comments, and then made another $301.

Freelancing — Website design, article writing, AdSense review, etc.

By using my Medium account traffic, I generated income through Buy Me a Coffee, Sponsorship, and Affiliate Marketing.

However, there are more indirect ways to make money from a Medium account or any other place where you have targeted traffic.

Many of my readers visit both my main blog, Inuidea.com, and my ‘Work With Me‘ page after reading my Medium articles.

I regularly get clients who get to know me and my work after reading my blog and hire me for the services I offer.

Because it’s hard to track the source, I’m not sure how much I’ve indirectly earned from Medium. Sometimes, I ask my clients how they discovered me, and some have told me they read my article on Medium; that’s how they got to know me.

I have worked with clients as a web developer, reviewed websites for AdSense approval, and written high-quality SEO articles.

I made more than $699 on Medium, without the Medium Partner Program - Inu Etc

What are the ways you can earn money on Medium?

Try to help people genuinely.

It’s important to give generously before making any requests.

Write high-quality content, add value, make proper use of call-to-action links, and keep promoting your services and products.

Try monetizing your account similarly to how I’ve monetized my Medium account. You can replicate the exact methods or explore new ones. If the Medium Partner Program is available in your country, consider applying for it.

You can create your Buy Me a Coffee page, sell digital products such as eBooks and design templates, sell your services, engage in affiliate marketing, and more.

Growth Marketing: The Beginner’s Guide

Growth marketing is a customer-focused strategy for growing and sustaining companies. It uses constant testing, analysis, and marketing techniques to deliver results.

It developed out of the entrepreneurs’ need to extract more from their business tactics and marketing strategies to outdo the competition. Traditional marketing approaches are unsustainable for many small-sized businesses, as they often lack the resources required for optimal results.

New business owners learn early on that they have to conserve their cash flow. Their budgets are no match for already established companies. Yet, they still have to fund both their operations and branding efforts.

In a way, business owners are comparable to drill sergeants or successful coaches, continually pushing their recruits or players to achieve more. They always aim for the extra mile.

That’s the essence of growth marketing: changing, experimenting, customizing, and implementing various tactics to attract and retain customers.

Differences Between Traditional Marketing and Growth Marketing

Since 2015, companies have spent more money on digital marketing than on traditional channels. That’s not to say that traditional marketing doesn’t work, because it remains useful.

Differences Between Traditional Marketing and Growth Marketing

Here is a breakdown of the two approaches and their connection to growth marketing:

Traditional Marketing

Traditional marketing refers to non-digital methods that have been in use since the emergence of advertising. It entails methods like:

print ads, billboards, brochures and flyers, direct mailbroadcast advertisingtelemarketingevent marketing.

It aims to create exposure through word-of-mouth, with the expectation that increased engagement will start conversations and turn listeners into customers. Also, public ads help build the company’s brand.

Going the traditional route poses many challenges to startups. For instance:

it’s expensive and difficult to replace after the campaign starts;the only way to measure its effectiveness is through leads and sales;there’s not enough engagement;you have very few options for receiving feedback.

That’s why startups tend to opt for growth marketing strategies.

Growth Marketing

Growth marketing emerged among startup and bootstrapping companies. Instead of focusing on the company, which doesn’t have an established brand yet, it concentrates on the customer.

It comprises methods like SEO, website development, and social media marketing, using affiliates, online ads, and email marketing campaigns. Marketers test, enhance, and apply their digital marketing techniques to their target customers.

SEO and content marketing are powerful strategies for attracting customers at every stage of their buying journey. They are inexpensive and generate many sales leads for new companies while convincing existing customers to stay loyal to the brand.

The table below will summarize the differences between traditional and growth marketing:

Traditional Marketing

Growth marketing delivers many benefits to your company. For one, you’ll achieve great results on a constrained budget.

Secondly, it grows your user base in a short period. Large numbers of followers mean a higher potential for sales, engagement, and product promotion. In turn, your customer base ensures a continuous stream of income for your company, despite it being a startup.

Finally, it allows you to test, research, and analyze your approach to become more effective. A streamlined process reduces money wastage and guarantees results.

Growth Marketing Vs. Growth Hacking and Inbound Marketing

Here are some most important differences between growth marketing, growth hacking and inbound marketing.

Growth Hacking

Sean Ellis created the concept of growth hacking in 2010, using what he calls “cross-functional experimentation” to achieve business growth. He added massive user bases to several companies, including his own, leading to billion-dollar valuations.

People tend to use the terms’ growth marketing’ and ‘growth hacking’ interchangeably. However, there’s a minimal difference. Growth marketing is a long process that ensures long-term stability, whereas growth hacking is a short-term attempt at boosting growth through faster implementation of tactics.

Startups have four growth strategies—product development and penetration, segmenting, and diversifying into new markets.

Challenges to Growth Hacking

As growth hacking became mainstream, the assumption was that it would give startups a better chance of survival. Fast growth was supposed to guarantee more time to stabilize down the line.

Unfortunately, several challenges persist. These are:

developing and scaling the products;adding new employees that fit with the core team;finding experienced growth hackers;poor testing strategies;aligning different marketing actions to achieve specific goals.

All of these should be taken into account when adopting the growth hacking approach.

Inbound Marketing

The term ‘inbound marketing’ refers to actions you take to attract and engage customers. It entails content marketing and advertising. Growth marketers test several methods to find those that will magnify their results.

Inbound Marketing

Content marketing involves creating videos, blogging, and using SEO. It builds brand loyalty by providing helpful and personalized content.

Advertising, on the other hand, refers to paying to position your ads on different platforms. When people click on the ads, they get redirected to your website, where you can attempt to sell to them.

Tips for Building a Growth Marketing Strategy

Growth marketing begins long before the first stage of the sales funnel. The stages entail product awareness and research, company reviews, and product purchases. Enjoying the product and planning to buy from the brand is the final stage.

To get the customer through these stages successfully, you must have an effective growth marketing strategy. The following steps will show you how to build one:

#1 Identify the Right Customers

Gain customers by tailoring the product to their needs. A growth marketer teams up with the product development team to uncover the customers’ pain points. That process will make marketing effective by clarifying buyer characteristics.

#2 Understand Product Value

Describe how the product fits the customer. Use content marketing to show product value and entice potential buyers. Promote the content on social media and connect with interested shoppers.

#3 Analyze your Platforms and Channels

Choose platforms and channels that will work well for your product. Some social media channels may work better than others, while some website platforms may be unsuitable for your product.

Look for weaknesses in these options during testing. For example, check whether your website takes too long to load. These delays may push away new customers.

Automate your business activities where possible. A successful growth marketing strategy is only possible if you can manage customer contact, interactions, and experience.

As a beginner, look for free automation software, such as website chatbots, customer recruitment, and contact management.

#4 Test Your Assumptions

Once you are clear about your customers, products, and platforms, test your assumptions to learn how to improve customer experiences at every point of their sales journey.

For instance, you can offer a reward in exchange for specific actions. If people respond positively, refine your tests, and optimize your results. A simple tweak could make a difference.

Factors to Consider When Conducting Tests

Constant and rapid testing is at the core of growth hacking. Split and A/B tests measure which strategies perform better. Split tests compare more substantial differences, whereas A/B tests focus on smaller changes.

For example, you can investigate which color suits your webpage better or test individual website designs. Whatever it is, experimenting will give you observable results.

During testing, consider the following:

keep it simple, have a focus area and a hypothesis;research the potential outcomes and their impact on your business;make subtle changes and contrast the old and new versions with A/B tests;prevent hasty conclusions by having a timeframe for analyzing results;compare your results to your hypothesis.

Remember, the goal is to enhance user experience and influence customer behavior.

#5 Execute the Changes and Measure their Effectiveness

Use the data you’ve collected to make the necessary changes. Measure the effectiveness of those changes over a short period, then start testing other ideas.

Repeat the process, making minor adjustments each time. Those constant alterations help to innovate valuable ways of growing your user base.

#6 Hang on to Customers and Keep them Engaged

Testing in the latter stages of the buyer’s journey gives you insights into how to retain them. Determine how customers are using your website through analytics and create content to guide them on product features and handling.

Turn your customers into brand champions by talking to them on social media. Their increased loyalty will lead to more sales, and they may feel inspired to generate content, attracting even more buyers to your company.

If you have an e-commerce website, measure the impact of retargeting activities. Re-targeting converts reluctant visitors into customers, so A/B tests your retargeting methods to unearth the most efficient tactics.

Examples of Growth Marketing Campaigns

Dropbox, a cloud-based storage software, is one of the famous examples of growth marketing. The startup used an incentivized referral approach to grow its user numbers by 60%.

They conducted surveys, split tests, and optimized sign-ups to get more customers, using the reward of extra storage space as an incentive.

They offered this deal to their social media followers and those who brought referrals. Combined with a great product, these tactics led to millions of users in just a few months.

The website builder, Squarespace, is another company that grew rapidly. Founder Anthony Casalena focused on creating a website platform that was both functional and beautiful, which attracted many users, who spread the message about the company.

Anthony hired experts to run essential departments like customer service. By listening to customers, the company crafts compelling messages and improves its software.

Squarespace has also invested in Superbowl ads, which drew a lot of attention. Though expensive, advertising during the Superbowl allowed the company to reach a broader audience.

Helpful Tools in Growth Marketing

There are many growth marketing tools available to a beginner. The ones below are simple to use and don’t need a lot of technical expertise. Taking the time to learn how to use them is a good idea.

We’ve split the tools into several categories:

Analytics Tools

These tools help you track user activity, count the number of visitors, and analyze customer behavior. The most common ones include Google and Twitter Analytics, Facebook Insights, WordPress Metrics, and KISSmetrics.

Testing Tools

Testing tools enable you to A/B test various hypotheses and determine the effectiveness of one idea over another.

Common examples include Unbounce and OptinMonster. Unbounce allows you to create landing pages and measure their impact. OptinMonster provides A/B testing tools and conversion analytics.

SEO and Content Marketing Tools

Beginners must find reliable content management systems (CMS) and marketing tools. WordPress is the most popular CMS, useful for blogging, website design, and analytics, while SemRush is a brilliant tool for keyword research, site audits, and marketing.

Design Tools

When you start out, you’ll need quality designs for your graphics and your social media sites. Choose a quality design option such as Adobe Photoshop, or try free alternatives like Canva.

Business Automation Tools

Business automation is vital for growth marketing. As new users show up, you need a way to manage all of them. HubSpot provides free Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and sales management tools. Nimble is another tool that also manages your contacts.

MailChimp is great for email marketing since it provides templates and thousands of emails free. Zapier integrates various business and marketing apps and automates tasks.

Social Media Tools

Social media platforms are for sharing your content and interacting with potential customers. Choose the ones with the most users, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Make video content and share it on YouTube or Periscope. Also, use social media management tools like HootSuite, Mention, and Buffer.

Final Thoughts

Growth marketing is about implementing data-driven changes to your marketing approach to improve your results, boost your user numbers, and increase sales. It doesn’t have to be a complex undertaking.

Make sure your efforts begin before your product development. Identify where people need solutions and tailor your products to those needs. Immerse your growth marketing tactics in every stage of the buyer’s journey.

With this all-around approach, you’ll find the company is growing faster and keeping more customers. There’ll be greater innovation to meet the desires and expectations of the consumers. Rest assured that growth marketing will strengthen your brand.

How to Create a Successful Fiverr Gig in 2024

Are you still hustling to create a successful gig on Fiverr?

Creating a successful Fiverr gig in 2024 is a time-taking and challenging job. The main reason is the competition on Fiverr is increasing day by day, which makes it difficult for newbies to fit in.

But in this complete guide to Fiverr, I will explain to you all the steps to create a Fiverr gig which you will find convenient and easy.

“Getting successful on Fiverr takes time, but you can do it if you’re skilled enough and if you optimize your profile properly. It takes just a little bit of SEO and engaging images to make a Fiverr Gig stand out. Create all 7 gigs, stay active and keep applying to buyer requests. Step 1: Choose a Niche

Step number one in creating a gig on Fiverr is to choose your niche. Niche is the services that you will provide on the platform.

While selecting a niche, what matters the most is your area of interest, if you are interested in content writing. Select content writing. Same if you are interested in graphic designing. Select it. If you have the skill to offer, select the one and start earning from it.

Also, decide the time you can give to your work. Some niches require more time, and some need less time and effort. Always choose a niche considering your time availability.

You cannot choose multiple niches at a time. Create a separate gig if you want to offer more services.

It’s easy for the clients to find you if your gig is straightforward and understandable.

Step 2: Competition of Your Niche

It is a significant and crucial step in making a successful gig. Most people overlook it, but it’s one of the most important factors to consider while selecting a niche.

If you select a high competition niche, it will require more time and effort to rank it. Due to already present high profiles and heavy traffic its minimum chances for your profile to rank.

But if you choose a low competition niche, it increases your chances to rank higher and fast. Fewer people mean low competition and easy ranking.

So always check your competition while choosing a niche and setting up your profile.

Step 3: Selecting a Title

Always choose a special and unique name for the service you will provide. Name is the identity of your service. It should be appropriate and accurate.

Many people have the same names for their services on Fiverr, making it difficult for a client to find you. The same terms mix up everyone.

So don’t make this mistake. Have a unique name and identity for your service.

Step 4: Make an Account

A Fiverr account is required to post your gig. So, this makes it the most important step.

You can join the account by your:

Account on GoogleAccount on FacebookEmail address

Now the next step is writing your name. They also ask for a password. After adding both, you can create your account.

After creating an account, activate it and then set up your profile.

Step 5: Setting Up Your Profile

Setting up your profile helps your clients know you before placing an order. Try to add all relevant and vital information about yourself and your services to your profile. It’s convenient for the client and builds a trust factor between you and your client.

Fiverr asks you to add all the relevant information in your profile like picture, description, language, skills, education, etc.

Inu Etc's Fiverr Profile

Profile picture

Add a profile picture that gives a more professional look. Add the image of your face; it helps clients trust you by ensuring that you are a real person. A professional-looking profile is mandatory to get more orders and rank higher.

Language

Language is imperative to make sure that you can talk to your client smoothly without any hurdle.

If you offer any translation or transcription services, then language is fundamental. You should be fluent in English to communicate and work on Fiverr.

Description

Add a relevant description to your profile. Tell your buyers who you are, your expertise, what you can offer them, and your skills and experiences.

Use this option to impress your clients with the fantastic skills that you acquire.

Education

Add your education and the name of the institutes.

You can attach certificates related to your services. It can make you more prominent and trustworthy.

Skills

Fiverr allows you to choose ten skills that you have. If you have skills related to your gig, you can add them. Make a wise choice by adding only relevant skills.

If you optimize your profile for SEO, your profile will undoubtedly perform better.

Step 6: Make a New Gig

After setting up your profile, you are now set to create your first ever gig. To do this

At the screen top, select the “Selling” menu; select the option “Gigs” in the dropdown menu.Select “Create New Gig”, and then you can start the process of creating your gig.Step 7: Your Gigs Overview

While writing an overview of your gig, stay patient and focused. Please don’t rush the process. It takes you more close to making a mistake.

Here they offer you to fill three boxes:

In the first one, you have to write the title of your gigIn the second one, you have to mention the category under which your gig fallsAt last, you have to enter search tags relevant to your gigStep 8: Set a Price

Setting a price for your gig is a tough job. While choosing a price for your gig, keep in mind all the important factors like the time you have to invest in it, your skillset, the quality of your work that you will offer your client, et cetera.

Never set a price too high or too low. Always keep it appropriate and acceptable.

Three different kinds of packages Fiverr offer

BasicStandardPremium

Always select your package wisely. Don’t take too many orders if you cannot meet the deadline. Reputation matters more than other things. Always maintain your reputation.

Step 9: Descriptions and FAQS

Descriptions are game-changers. If you add a good and attractive description to your gig, it can increase your worth. Before placing an order, all clients go through the profile’s description. If they find it trustworthy and attractive, they place an order.

Always think according to a client’s perspective while writing a description. Add all your skills and specialties to it. There is a limit of 120 minimum and 1200 maximum characters. So, make sure to add every relevant detail within the word limit.

Now adding FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is also very important. You have to add the viewers’ questions while going through your profile here. Try to answer all of them. Also, keep changing these questions regularly according to new demands and conditions. You can add more FAQs by clicking the “+ Add FAQ” button.

Once your gig is activated, you will come to know the repeatedly asked FAQs. So once you get them, try to answer them. It will be convenient for your viewers.

Step 10: Gig Requirements

Your client will give you all the information you need to complete your order.

Fiverr offer three different options to get the required information

Free Text

With this option, you can communicate with your client through text messages. You can ask your required questions, and your client will answer them. This is a very convenient way to solve all your queries.

Attached Files

Choose this option when you want your client to send you any files to complete the order. Add all your requirements in the description, and your client will upload it. “+ Add Another Requirement” option is available so that you can ask for as many files as you want.

Multiple Answers

You can ask your client relevant questions in a multiple-choice format using this option. You can write your question and add two or more options to choose from for your client. Your client can choose one option which he found more accurate and appropriate.

You have to provide a minimum of two options to choose from. Click the “+ Add Optional Answer” to add more options.

Step 11: Visuals

You should add pictures, videos, and PDFs to make your profile eye-catching. Note that all the photos and videos you add should be relevant to your gig.

Step 12: Publish

To publish your gig, click on the “Publish Gig” option. It is the easiest step to perform. After doing all these steps now, your profile is live.

Discovering North East India – Exploring Mysterious Tripura and Beautiful Mizoram

North East India is quite underrated among travelers, and I’m glad it is. I’m not a fan of crowded places; they don’t seem peaceful, and it’s hard to connect with nature when surrounded by so many people.

I have explored Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Assam, and Meghalaya before.

Although Meghalaya is beautiful, it has been crowded in recent years, and traffic is a problem.

The raw natural beauty of Meghalaya is still there, and we need to take care of it before it disappears.

Among all the places I have seen, Dzukou Valley in Nagaland stands out as the best. It was my first solo trip, and I’ve traveled a lot since then, but I’ve never seen anything like Dzukou Valley.

Inu Etc Travel (44)

Arunachal Pradesh was also less crowded. Overall, north-east India is not overcrowded, and you can still see raw nature and authentic people.

This time, Rohan and I decided to explore Tripura and Mizoram, two of India’s unique and least-explored states.

21 March 2024 — Guwahati to Agartala, Tripura

I took a flight from Guwahati Airport (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport) to Agartala Airport (Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport). It was an hour-long flight by Akasa Air.

The worst travel experience of my life

It was my first time in Agartala, I was hungry, alone, in a completely new city. I had booked a hotel (Cheers, near Agartala Airport) online through a company, but when I arrived, the receptionist informed me that they didn’t have any available rooms, despite having multiple vacancies.

I waited at the reception for almost two hours to receive a refund. Once I got the refund, they provided me with a dirty room and charged me ₹700 for it.

It was clear they were only causing this drama to avoid sharing commission with the hotel booking company.

22 March 2024 – Chabimura

In the morning, we rented a car for the whole day and began our trip.

The first stop was Chabimura, famous for its rock carvings on the steep mountain wall along the bank of the Gomati River in the Indian state of Tripura.

There are huge carved images of Shiva, Vishnu, Kartika, Mahisasura Mardini Durga, and other gods and goddesses.

My experience on a speed boat on the Gomati River was one of the most memorable I have had so far. The weather was rainy, and I felt like Ranbir Kapoor from the movie Roy as I sat on the deck of the boat.

At the location, I made a short video that’s available on Instagram and my YouTube vlog as well.

Neermahal

Next, we visited Neermahal, also known as Twijilikma Nuyung ( Literally: “Water Palace” ) is a former royal palace of Tripura Kingdom, built by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma Bahadur in 1930.

It is also the largest water palace in India. The palace is situated in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake ( Twijilikma ), in Melaghar, 53 kilometers away from Agartala, the capital of Tripura.

As the palace is surrounded by water, there is only one way to visit this palace, and that is through a boat ride.

In the afternoon, the driver dropped us at Agartala Railway Station, where we took a train to Kumarghat. In Kumarghat, Tripura, we spent the night at the Debroy Hotel.

23 March 2024 — Unakoti

In the morning, we booked an auto rickshaw to visit Unakoti.

It was my favorite place from my Tripura trip.

Unakoti, famously known as Angkor Wat of the North-East, is a sculptural emblem and ancient Shaivite place that hosts rock carvings, figures, and images of gods and goddesses.

It is a place of worship with huge rock reliefs celebrating Shiva. Unakoti literally means “one less than one crore” or “koti” in Hindi. It is known that there are ninety-nine lakh ninety-nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine (99,99,999) idols found here.

It was a place that was full of mysteries, a place that was spiritual and unique in its own way.

Kumarghat to Siliguri, Assam

We took a train to Siliguri and arrived there at night.

After that, we took an overnight trip by SUV from Siliguri to Aizawl, Mizoram.

Inner Line Permit

The Inner Line Permit (ILP) is an official document that allows Indian citizens to travel into a protected area for a limited time. A valid ILP is required to enter a protected state for Indian citizens living outside those states. The ILP was introduced to preserve the North Eastern Tribes’ heritage and avoid migration.

After entering Mizoram around midnight, we got our inner line permit. The officer in charge told me I looked like a famous singer. Although I was unable to understand the singer’s name, I felt good, since I have always wanted to become a singer. 😊

24 March 2024 — Aizawl

It was early in the morning when we reached Aizawl. It was Sunday, and we realized for the first time that almost everything (public transportation, shops, restaurants) in Mizoram is closed on Sundays. There was taxi available, and we booked a taxi to reach Reiek Tourist Resort.

We had our lunch in the resort, and we just took some rest as overnight journey made us so tired.

25 March 2024 — Reiek Trek in the morning — The best sunrise view ever

Reiek, also known as Reiek Tlang, is a mountain and tourist spot in Mizoram, India at an elevation of 1,548 meters. It’s located 29 kilometers from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram.

The Reiek trek is a 2-kilometer hike that can be completed in 45–60 minutes if you take it at a leisurely pace. It took us almost an hour to complete.

At the top of Reiek, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valley and Mizo Hills. Most days, you will be able to see beautiful cloud formations from the peak.

We started hiking around 3:30 in the morning. It was dark when we started. After an hour-long hike, I witnessed the most beautiful sunrise at the peak. It was truly a mesmerizing experience.

Reiek Trek Mizoram - Travel pic by Inu Etc2

The experience of sitting on the edge of the cliff was thrilling and filled with adrenaline. You can watch the trek experience in my vlog, and you can see the images I took in my Instagram posts as well.

While we only saw the sunrise, I recommend watching the sunset as well. Both views will look great, I’m sure.

Mizo Village

We saw a typical Mizo village near the Reiek Tourist Resort after the hike. It was fascinating to see how they made their homes, the tools they used, and how they lived in the early days.

From Reiek, we went to Aizawl City with Ruata, a local tour guide who came with another group.

We met him at the resort, and he accompanied us on the Reiek Trek as well.

Aizawl Peak Restaurant — The best sunset view ever

Our plan was to reach Aizawl Peak Restaurant in the evening to see the beautiful sunset view of Aizawl city from the top of the viewpoint.

We booked a taxi, but Google Maps showed us the wrong route, so the driver was unable to take us there. We had to use two bike taxi services for the two of us.

From the Aizawl Peak Restaurant viewpoint, we witnessed the best sunset view and the most beautiful night cityscape ever.

On our way back, we encountered the kindest-hearted woman in Mizoram, Madam Luri. She was friendly, and we engaged in discussions about music, travel, and our experiences.

Upon reaching her home, she generously gave 500 rupees to the driver, even though the total fare was 600 rupees. The original plan was to split the money equally, but she gave it all to the driver and thanked us for visiting Mizoram.

We stayed the night at the Hotel Cosmo in Aizawl.

26 March 2024 — Aizawl to Guwahati flight.

Last day.

Rohan had his flight in the morning, so we arrived early, and I had to wait until 3PM for my flight.

At the airport, I met Zela, a guy who works there. I was waiting for a long time with my travel backpack looking like a passionate traveler, and he got curious about me, and we talked about our dreams, travel plans, etc., after which he invited me to visit Mizoram again.

I became friends with him in a short amount of time. If I return to Mizoram, I will definitely meet him and Madam Luri again.

I took my flight to Guwahati Airport at 3PM from Lengpui Airport. During the hour-long Alliance Air flight, I saw beautiful views of the mountains.
