Why You Shouldn’t Beg for Followers on Medium or YouTube — Here’s How to Grow

A lot of people comment on my articles, asking me to read their articles.

I’ve also seen similar comments on other articles on Medium.

Guys, please, don’t do this.

“Follow for follow,” “subscribe for subscribe,” “read for read” — this isn’t the right way to grow on any platform. These techniques are harmful to your account and are just spammy and irritating to others.

Recently, I got a comment on my YouTube channel that said:

“I see all your videos on YouTube, but why don’t you read my articles on Medium?”

I replied:

“I’ll create a video and write an article on this — why you should not request someone to read your articles.

If you don’t find the videos helpful, don’t watch them.

Watch my videos only if you find them helpful; I’m not forcing you to watch.

The same goes for articles and social media posts.”

The Main Reason You Shouldn’t Beg for Followers

The main issue is engagement.

Even if you force someone to become your subscriber or follower, if your content doesn’t align with their interests, they won’t engage. They won’t read your article or watch your videos.

They’ll become ‘dead followers.’

And if you have too many dead followers on any platform, your account essentially dies because the algorithm assumes that the majority of people don’t like your content.

For example, if you have 10 subscribers on your YouTube channel, only three you got organically because they enjoy your content.

The other 7 are your family members and friends, and people you literally begged to subscribe and watch your content.

Some of them will open YouTube just to watch your content. That’s a red flag, too — the algorithm recognizes fake behavior. YouTube or any other platform wants people to stay on the platform, and if someone just comes and watches only one video before closing the app, that’s an obvious red flag.

The other people stay as dead subscribers. The algorithm assumes that the majority of your audience doesn’t like the content, which is why your content isn’t getting engagement.

It then stops recommending your content to new audiences.

That’s how your YouTube channel or Medium account eventually becomes “dead.”

It’s Not Possible To Grow on Any Platform by Begging for Followers

How many people can you ask?

Look at famous people like MrBeast, who has over 332 million subscribers on YouTube, or Tim Denning, with 327,219 followers on Medium.

Is it possible to ask millions of people to regularly engage with your content?

I’ve never asked anyone to subscribe to my channel, not even once. I’ve never asked anyone to follow me on Medium.

People follow because I add value.

The real way to grow on any platform is simple: just keep creating high-quality content.

How to Grow?

Just focus on posting quality content consistently.

Whether it’s Medium, YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram, any platform will recommend your content to a small audience.

If they like it, the platform will recommend it to more people.

That’s how organic growth happens.

Influencers with millions of followers or writers with thousands of followers on Medium — everyone grows this way.

You can add a CTA at the end of your content asking people to follow you. If they like your content, they will follow you.

You can also focus on SEO to get organic traffic from Google. If you upload videos on YouTube, you must optimize them with a proper title, thumbnail, description, and tags for SEO to rank higher on YouTube and get the maximum number of views organically.

You can share your content on social media, and I highly recommend Pinterest if you write articles on your blog or on Medium.

Begging people to follow only gets you dead followers, not real success.

Laying The Groundwork For Accessing An International Market

Heading into a new country for whatever commercial purpose you have can seem exciting and scary — having access to a new market could be a real benefit to the life of your firm, but at the same time international markets aren’t just bigger versions of your local marketplace, and you likely know that.

This means what worked in one country might completely fall flat in another. Cumin is a delicious spice if used with the appropriate chili recipe, but in a sweet dish? Perhaps that’s not quite as useful.

Food analogies aren’t always great, so let’s consider where these measures really have an impact — cultural nuances, language barriers, and technological differences can mean you need a totally different approach to get things right.

So how do you actually lay the groundwork for breaking into international markets? Well, of course, you need to get the administration effort right first. But in terms of preparing a marketing to receive you, the approach is more refined. Here’s how smart companies approach this:

Region-Specific SEO

SEO isn’t universal, and it’s important to respect that. A French SEO agency will tell you that keywords work differently in different languages and regions.

What ranks on Google in the US might be completely invisible in France or in the EU market, because the kind of content people are looking for and appreciate can differ depending on your requirements.

You also need to understand local search behaviors, the specific terms people use, and how search engines prioritize content in different markets.

Set Launch Dates & Countdowns

Timing matters more than most people realize, and at the very least letting people know you’re arriving is worthwhile. This isn’t like a party where you’ll seem cooler if you arrive looking above it all.

Different cultures have different relationships with marketing campaigns and product launches too. Some regions love anticipation and build-up, others prefer immediate availability, but of course, one place might not have heard what you have to sell before.

Others may be more than happy to understand. For instance, the United Kingdom is often crying out for better Mexican food joints, but it took a while for Bubble Tea stores to expand into the juggernaut they have become in this market.

That’s because it took a little time to educate and inform before the sales came. Launch dates allow you to provide this groundwork and make sure the excitement is there to have you.

Using Local Delivery Platforms

Global doesn’t mean uniform, and that insight in itself can help you alter how you approach your delivery systems or platforms. Moreover, delivery expectations vary wildly between countries.

In some markets, people expect next-day shipping. In others, they’re used to longer wait times. Local platforms understand these nuances.

They know the infrastructure, the customer expectations, and how to navigate local logistics in ways companies trying to build from the ground up can easily miss.

So you can use local eCommerce fulfilling centers or logistic packaging services to ensure you’re able to roll into the space with more clarity. You can always refine your own approach later when it’s most necessary.

With this approach, you’re not just expanding — you’re actually connecting. And that’s the real goal of going international.

I Got a Client for a 1:1 Consultation Call

Recently, I got a consulting client. Vaibhav Bhojak, a UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) aspirant, reached out to me to discuss starting his writing journey on Medium.

We also discussed online business possibilities, YouTube, SEO, and the potential opportunities and returns of writing high-quality articles.

It was a great experience talking to him, sharing my advice, getting to know him and his future plans, and learning from his knowledge and experience.

When I started writing professionally in 2018, I never dreamed of this day.

I never thought I would get a client who would find me because of my online work.

I never thought I would have the opportunity to guide a UPSC aspirant, being a school dropout myself.

The best part,

My client didn’t judge me (unlike many who might) for not being as formally educated as he is.

He values real education and understands that one can learn outside the traditional school system or without pursuing a degree.

He understands that I worked hard by learning through practical experience, taking action, and reading articles and books.

I loved talking to him; he inspired me to keep moving forward. It was a win-win situation for us. We both learned from each other and most importantly, we enjoyed talking to each other.

I felt deeply grateful and even emotional hearing a stranger praise my work.

I’ll always be available to talk to him, and if he wants, I’ll help him for free whenever I have the time. I know I’ll also learn a lot from him in return.

Why I Don’t Sell Courses

I always try to help people for free.

I don’t create and promote products like eBooks, planners, or similar online products. I’ve always created high-quality articles and shared them for free on Inuidea.com and Medium.

I’ve never joined a pre-recorded course or bought a premium product to learn a skill. These aren’t bad either, but if you can self-educate, you should try to find free resources to learn.

I’ve done paid consultations before, but they were mainly about website design, SEO, or other online business topics with existing clients.

This was the first time I got an inbound email from a client asking for my writing advice on a consulting call.

So, I’ve decided to continue offering 1:1 consultation and coaching. I can help you with writing, monetization, online business, blogging, SEO, freelancing, sponsorships, and website design.

You’ll get my undivided attention, which is obviously better than a pre-recorded course.

Why I Prefer Consultations to Courses

A few months ago I thought about starting a course too. But now I’ll stick to just paid consultations.

Even though my recent client, Vaibhav, suggested I create affordable and valuable courses and eBooks, I’m not planning to do that right now.

I may consider creating more affordable courses or free courses in the future.

I understand that many people are willing to pay for courses and products, but personally, I don’t buy them myself. Because of this, I don’t feel comfortable accepting payments for something I wouldn’t purchase.

On the other hand, undivided attention is incredibly valuable because it allows you to learn in real-time, receive immediate responses, and engage directly in a 1:1 setting.

Someone is giving you their time, knowledge, expertise, and experience, in real time. I think it’s worth paying for someone’s undivided attention, especially if you believe they can help you learn and grow.

That’s why I recommend choosing consultations with an industry expert rather than joining a boring pre-recorded course.

Talk, learn, and grow live.

Book a 1:1 Consultation Call

If you’d like to book a 1:1 consultation, feel free to contact me.

A minimum 1-hour consultation with undivided attention, where I can share practical, actionable insights about everything I know and anything you want to learn from me.

Feel free to explore my website, articles, and videos to learn more about me and my work before reaching out for a consultation call.

You can also visit this page for more information —  https://inuetc.com/book-a-call-with-inu-etc/

I’m not going to mention the price here. You can pay me whatever you want, and I’ll give you more details about the fee once we discuss it via email and during the consultation call.

Talk soon!

Why SEO Is the Critical Skill You Need To Learn as a Freelancer

As a freelancer, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) has become an absolutely pivotal skill. Navigating our journey, whether it’s starting a business or a website, can be quite an arduous process when we don’t know the tricks of the trade. SEO is a critical skill every freelancer needs to learn, but why is this?

Much Better Content

SEO skills ultimately enhance our abilities to create effective, targeted content. Understanding key SEO terms is crucial if we want to improve our visibility and rankings, particularly in our content through on-page SEO elements such as keywords, meta descriptions, and link building.

Links play a crucial role in SEO, such as an anchor text. If you are wondering what is anchor text or what a backlink is, now is the time to start schooling yourself in all of these critical terms because they will all make a huge difference.

Increased Visibility

Improving your online presence makes it easier for potential clients to find you. When you optimize your website, you can attract more leads and new clients.

We have to remember that it’s not just about Googling something and your page showing up in the results — you’ve got to develop that trust.

When you show up on the first page of Google, this is essentially Google vouching that you are a reliable website, so make yourself trustworthy.

A Better Understanding of Your Clients’ Needs

SEO research and implementation can give you valuable insights into whom you should be targeting your offerings for. This knowledge can improve the type of content you create for your clients, and when you refine your approaches, you become far more relevant and your quality improves as a result.

Many bloggers think that diversifying their offerings is more beneficial, but the fact is that when you start to understand who you should gear towards, this is the living embodiment of the 80/20 principle in action: 80% of the results come from 20% of the effort.

Rather than thinking you need to keep diversifying until you burn out, something like SEO helps you understand the relevancy of what you are offering.

A Competitive Advantage

In the freelance market, SEO skills can set you apart from your competitors, regardless of your practice. Having strong SEO skills is not just critical for a website; it can help you stand out as a professional.

Learning the key search terms people use when they’re looking for a freelancer like yourself can differentiate you in a crowded marketplace. What’s more, if you are a freelancer, you could even use these skills to move into the realm of SEO freelancing.

Ultimately, ensuring you learn SEO can help you engage in a dynamic field. SEO provides tangible and measurable outcomes, and therefore, SEO is a critical skill for freelancers because it doesn’t just enhance your own marketability, but it provides value to your clients.

As you can see, this simple knowledge set can help in so many ways, from offering more comprehensive services, to creating better content, and ultimately driving success, not just for you, but for your clients as well. It’s a win-win situation!

9 Proven Ways to Monetize Your Blog – Make Money Blogging in 2024

Are you looking for some proven blog monetization methods to monetize your blog to convert your ‘baby’ blog into a money making blog?

Today I’m going to show you some of the most profitable ways to monetize your blog to maximize your income.

In fact,

I’m using some of these monetization methods to monetize my blog and slowly I’m implementing other methods too.

Check out these monetization methods, implement them, and make money blogging in 2024.

Let’s dive right in.

1. Blog Advertisements

This is the most easiest and popular monetization method available on the blogosphere.

As a beginner blogger, Google AdSense is the #1 ad network you can use to monetize your blog.

Related Post: How to Get Google Adsense Approval Fast With a New Blog

To generate more revenue using Google Adsense, once you reach 25K sessions, apply to Mediavine.

If you cross 100K pageviews, you can directly apply to AdThrive.

Looking for a Google AdSense alternative?

Try PropellerAds or Media.net. They are reputable, they also have a large number of advertisers, and their payouts are good too.

Google AdSense is easy to set up, but the amount of money you can earn from AdSense is limited. So, directly selling banner ad space can be more profitable.

It takes more work to manage directly selling ads than Google AdSense. You’ll have to negotiate the pricing, come up with an agreement, and take care of invoicing.

However, using a WordPress ad management plugin such as Ad Inserter can make the process easier.

I recommend you use AdSanity, it allows you to manage Google AdSense as well as your own banner ads.

Many bloggers hate blog advertisements because they can make your site slow and ugly. It also distracts your visitors and affects your site design.

However, there are many profitable ways to monetize your blog without AdSense and blog advertisements that don’t affect your site design and don’t distract your visitors.

Keep reading to learn more about these blog monetization methods.

2. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a proven way to make passive income by monetizing your blog’s loyal audience.

I’m a big fan of affiliate marketing and I often write about the power of affiliate marketing on my blog.

If you’re a beginner blogger, instead of waiting for Google AdSense approval, you should try affiliate marketing to monetize your blog from day one. After all, it’s one of the best ways to monetize your blog without AdSense.

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s and companies products. You earn a commission for each sale that you make through your unique affiliate links.

To make money from affiliate marketing, all you need is a loyal and target audience.

Write high-quality content, use affiliate links, drive targeted traffic, build a loyal audience and see the magic.

This post contains affiliate links . I may receive a commission for purchases made through these links. This commission comes at no extra cost to you. Also, I don’t recommend anything that I don’t believe in.

3. Email Marketing

The money is on the list!

The line is so true!

Email marketing is vital if you want to start a money making blog in 2024.

One of the most powerful methods for making money from your blog and building a strong bond with your readers is directly through email marketing.

By using your engaging email list you can market your blog posts and market your own products and services along with affiliate offers directly through email. You can also monetize your newsletter through sponsored ads.

Top bloggers use an email list to market their blogs, monetize their blogs, and grow their online business.

I’m using Mailerlite, a beginner-friendly email marketing and automation tool that lets you create beautiful and professional email forms that fit with your branding.

Mailerlite’s free plan lets you have up to 1000 subscribers. It’s a great alternative to MailChimp because of its easy-to-customize features.

1000 targeted subscribers are enough to market and monetize your blog as a beginner blogger.

After that, you can go with their premium plan that offers more features, or you can use other email marketing services such as Convertkit, Substack, Aweber, etc.

4. Sponsored Blog Posts and Reviews

As you grow your blog and your brand, you can collaborate with individuals, brands, and companies. They can contact you to write a sponsored post or a review post for their products.

Write a good  ‘work with me‘ page or design a media kit for your business to let brands and potential clients know you’re available for collaborations and why they should collaborate with you.

Also, you can directly contact the individuals and companies you want to collaborate with. Tell them how you can help grow their business using your reach.

It becomes easier to get sponsorship when you are working on a specific niche and if you have a target and engaging audience.

From Stall to Success: A Guide to Running a Winning Market Stall

It’s not easy to run a successful market stall, but if it’s the first place you think of to start with your business adventure, then it’s going to be a challenge. If this is your first venture into the business world, then you know that the setup and the marketing of your market stall is going to be the first thing that your customers take note of. If you’re in a market among many other vendors, you want yours to stand out.

No matter what you do, a market stall is going to attract customers and hopefully get you some sales. Making it a success is all going to depend on certain things, and we’ve put together a list of how you can start running a successful market stall.

Consider the prices. When it comes to pricing your items in your market stall, especially if this is your first ever one, you need to think about how you’re going to draw your customers in. Not only do you need to price every item according to their actual worth, but you do need to think about how you plan for your customers to pay for those items. Choosing to go cash only could lock you out of the market seeing as most of the market is now going cashless. A smart POS system is going to help you to remain cashless and still be able to bring in what you need to bring in. If you’re new to the game, think about the prices that will appeal to your customers that don’t undercut what you spent on the items.Balance out your display. You don’t get much space on a market stall, which means you have to be very clever about what your products are going to look like. Try to make your stall or your kiosk as welcoming as possible. You can do this by having your display at eye level, below and above eye level so that no matter the height of the customer, they’re going to be able to see what you’ve got to give. If you have a table for your market stall, try to set your product so that it’s balanced in terms of height, display, and combination so that it looks attractive.Be unique with your signage. You need to get your business brand out there so that once people have left the market, they want to Google who you are and find you on social media. If you are unique, you can make a good impact on your potential customers. Look at other kiosks and other market stalls in your industry to be able to gain some. Inspiration on what you should be doing. The fun thing is that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to implement a few simple ways to get your market stall noticed. As long as you are able to show off your business branding and put your colors on it, you’re going to do well.

Your market stall may be your first foray into sales before you go for a whole store, but it’s a good first step!

Why Your Business Suffers Without the Human Touch

There are more than enough mistakes that businesses have made, and thankfully, nowadays, there are plenty of resources online, so businesses can learn before committing any mistakes, like forums, LinkedIn, articles on Forbes, and reading the news on bad choices so many other businesses have made.

But you might be surprised to hear that there’s one mistake that so many businesses, big and small, of all industries, are making that just doesn’t seem to be really getting any attention.

But what?

Well, the fact that businesses are losing that human touch.

Oh yes, from small online shops to global corporations, everyone seems to be hopping on the automation train. Chatbots, automated emails, and robotic phone menus are taking over, and while they’re convenient, something vital is getting lost.

Now, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have these things, hiring people is expensive, and nowadays, every business is expected to be reachable 24/7, even when it’s literally impossible.

But it’s when it’s overkill is when there’s really a problem.

So, here’s why businesses, regardless of size, need to bring back that human touch and make sure they’re not just another faceless, robotic service.

The Perils of Losing the Human Touch in Business

The rise of digital customer service has made it easy for businesses to lean on automation, but here’s the thing: without a real, human touch, companies risk frustrating customers, damaging their reputations, and even losing loyal clients. Again, that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be automation because, yes, there should be.

But do you really want to do what some businesses are doing to where they are literally unreachable? Look at, Klarna, they are famous for it (and they have no human staff running their customer service). As great as robots are, they can’t do everything, and sometimes, a human really needs to step in, and it’s like businesses forget this or something.

Frustrated and Unfulfilled Customers

Okay, so let’s just face it – no one wants to feel like they’re talking to a wall. When customers hit a digital-only wall with automated systems, they start feeling like the business just doesn’t care. Sure, a chatbot can answer questions, but people don’t just want answers; they want to be seen and heard.

Without a human on the other end, customers get frustrated with those generic, one-size-fits-all responses that don’t actually address their unique issues. Instead of feeling supported, they feel brushed off, as if their specific concerns don’t even matter. It’s like talking to someone who’s there but not really listening. Now, when it comes to simple questions, yes, they want answers, but if it’s a major problem, then a human needs to be reachable.

Declining Customer Loyalty

Loyalty is built on trust, and trust needs a real human connection to grow. When businesses rely solely on automated interactions, they risk stripping away that personal layer that makes customers feel truly valued. While yes, a bot might be great for quick answers, it’s never going to make a customer feel understood and appreciated in the same way a person can.

Just think about it: customers become loyal because they feel a genuine connection to a brand. Bots can’t create that. The lack of human interaction leaves customers feeling like they’re just another transaction. This detachment can easily lead them to consider switching to a competitor, especially if they think they’ll get a warmer, more personal experience elsewhere.

Damaging the Brand’s Reputation

Okay, so when a business starts to feel like a robot, it can take a serious hit to its reputation. It’s like the Klarna example mentioned earlier since they chose to wipe out any humans in their customer service. Sure, you save money, but there will be customers with specific issues that a bot really can’t help with (and only a human can).

So if your company doesn’t have any humans to step in and help, then it’s apparent that you’re coming off as distant and cold. So, with that all said, since these were the perils, it’s time to look at some other indicators when it comes to too little human touch in business.

Over-Automation is a Thing

Just like what’s been mentioned already, there’s nothing wrong with having bots, there’s nothing wrong with having AI, and there’s nothing wrong with automating customer service with things like a customer service chatbot maker either since this can reduce wait times and keep costs down. All of these are great; they’re great for the company, and technically, they’re great for employees because it means they have more time and energy for complex tasks.

The problem lies when there’s too much automation, since this makes customers feel like they’re talking to a machine (because, well, they are!). And while a bot can handle straightforward questions, it doesn’t take long for things to get awkward if a customer needs real help.

Bots Just Don’t Get It

Bots are amazing for routine questions – things like “What’s your return policy?” or “When will my order arrive?” But when it comes to the tricky stuff, bots fall flat. They don’t read between the lines, can’t catch a customer’s tone, and miss all those little signals that a real person would pick up on. Imagine a customer venting frustration over a delayed order, and the bot replies with, “Thank you for your patience!” It’s polite, but it’s not exactly comforting.

Now, most companies know to have some method to allow customers to talk to a human, but there are some businesses, who, again, want their customer service to solely be bots, and that is just a bad idea.

Trust isn’t Built by Machines

You have to remember that human interaction is the backbone of customer loyalty. When customers feel genuinely listened to and understood, they’re more likely to trust a business and stick around. Automation can handle some things, sure, but building trust? That’s an entirely different game.

Leaving a Real Impression

Now, just think about this for a moment, so every time a customer interacts with your business, it’s a chance to create a lasting impression. A chatbot can solve a problem, but it won’t make someone feel valued.

A friendly human, on the other hand, can make a customer feel like they’re part of something bigger than just a transaction. It’s that warm, personable touch that sticks in their mind – and it’s what brings them back.

Emotional Intelligence

Now, this one pretty much goes with what was being said above. However, one thing bots lack is the ability to be empathetic. Humans bring emotional intelligence to the table, and that’s something you just can’t program. Sure, bots might “say” they’re sorry, but there’s a world of difference between a scripted response and a person who actually listens.

The Importance of Real Empathy

Now, you’ll have to keep in mind that empathy isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a game-changer. When a customer feels heard and understood, they walk away satisfied, even if their issue wasn’t completely resolved. People remember that kind of experience.

They remember the employee who listened, the one who reassured them, and the one who took the time to make things right. It’s these little gestures of human kindness that turn a regular customer into a loyal one. Bots can’t give that, and yes, some tasks should be given to bots, but not complex ones.

Human Interaction is a Competitive Advantage

If you really think about it, having real people on the other end is a breath of fresh air. It’s crazy to think, but the human touch is becoming a rare commodity, and businesses that offer it are at a huge advantage. So, being one of the few businesses that prioritise genuine interaction can be a major selling point.

Standing Out in a Sea of Automation

You have to keep in mind that today’s consumers are savvy – they know the difference between genuine care and automated “customer service.” The companies that invest in people, the ones that make an effort to add that personal touch, are the ones that will leave a lasting impression. After all, nobody wants to feel like they’re just a ticket in the system. It really helps to still have that personal approach, and no, it doesn’t need to be all the time, either.

Knowing When to Use Tech and When to Get Personal

Okay, so the whole point of this blog post is about balance. Yes, by all means, you should embrace automation, and yes, you should get bots, and you should embrace AI. Those are all great choices, actually!.

But here’s the thing: businesses need to know when it’s time to switch from tech to a real person. Understanding that line is crucial, and it can make all the difference in a customer’s experience. This is where businesses mess up, too.

Balancing the Bot and the Human

There’s a time and place for everything. Bots are perfect for quick, straightforward answers and off-peak hours. But as soon as a situation gets complex, or when a customer needs more personalized attention, that’s when the human touch is essential.

Customers should always have the option to connect with a real person when needed. This balance is key to offering the best of both worlds – the efficiency of automation and the warmth of human interaction.

Say No to Useless Meetings and Unnecessary Professionalism: Welcome to Casual Work Culture

You don’t need to wear a suit and a fake smile to look professional or to attract clients.

Almost a year ago, someone messaged me on Instagram, telling me I needed to look ‘professional’ to grow my business. He saw my website and my photos there and recommended that I wear something like a suit instead of a T-shirt.

I told him I like the way it is—casual, friendly, authentic, no fakeness at all.

Nowadays, if you wear a suit with a fake smile, you’ll definitely look like a pyramid scheme guy or a scammer.

Most of my potential clients know me as a digital nomad; they know that I work while traveling. They know my lifestyle, they read my articles, they see my Instagram photos, they see my YouTube videos, they read my about page, and they realize I’m 100% real.

You don’t need a professional-looking photo with professional clothing to build trust and attract clients. Casual clothing with an honest or strong personal brand is enough.

Authenticity over formality.

You don’t need to wear a fake smile. Instead, you can share your most authentic self. Share your ups and downs. If you’re really happy and smiling, share that. If you’re crying, you can share your crying face photos or videos too.

On January 26, 2023, I was at my lowest and I wrote an article on Medium called — I’m messed up and I need a job. I received 176 comments on that article, and I also got a client. I designed multiple websites for that client, and I’m still connected with the client on Instagram.

Well, I’m not Mark Zuckerberg and I don’t wanna compare myself with him at all, but here I wanna talk about him.

Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t smile often. People on the internet often call him a robot or a lizard. (By the way, I saw a video where he talked about his wife, Priscilla Chan, and it was filled with all kinds of genuine emotions, no one can call him a robot after watching that video)

Mark Zuckerberg wears the same T-shirt every day; his businesses (Meta, Facebook) are growing.

Steve Jobs (former CEO of Apple) is known as a minimalist style icon.

Eric Zhu, the co-founder of Aviato, built the company in the bathroom of his high school and raised $2.3 million at the age of 17

Eric Zhu, the co-founder of Aviato, built the company in the bathroom of his high school and raised $2.3 million at the age of 17.

Dhruv Rathee wears the same T-shirt every day; his YouTube channel is growing like a wildfire.

The casual work culture.

Almost every young entrepreneur and freelancer nowadays loves working from their bedroom, wearing casual clothes. They’re building their agencies and startups. Their businesses are growing, making thousands of dollars from clients all over the world.

There is an entire book called Pyjama Profit, written by Indian entrepreneurs Varun Mayya and Abhinav Chhikara.

Nowadays, you can build a business from your bedroom, so wear what you wear at home. You don’t wear a suit in your bedroom, right?

You can attend meetings wearing whatever you want below (if you really want, lol) and a T-shirt above, and close a million-dollar deal from your bedroom, too.

The complexity of unnecessary professionalism.

English is not our first language; we’re more comfortable speaking in Hindi with friends. I don’t understand why, when both people understand Hindi, some choose to speak English during business discussions.

Why? I know they want to look professional. But why?

You can get the work done casually, too, with easy language and simple clothing. Most importantly, when your colleagues are your friends, there’s no need for unnecessary professionalism—it just makes simple things more complex.

As I collaborate a lot with my friends, some of them always want to discuss things in a meeting, even to explain something simple, when they could just send a quick WhatsApp message. Or if it’s hard to explain in text, they could send an audio message and share the information immediately.

But no, they need to set up a proper video meeting at a time that suits them, just to go over a few bullet points. I mean, what the f*ck?

The best ways to show your professionalism.

If you want to show your professionalism, do it like this:

Be on time: If you schedule a meeting for 10 AM, be there at exactly 10 AM. Value everyone’s time.Give your best effort: Always deliver high-quality work that shows your skills, expertise, and dedication.Engage with clients: Communicate in a friendly, polite, and engaging way with clients to build strong long term relationships. Listen to others during conversations to understand their perspectives and needs.Stay responsive: Never ghost anyone in your network, be it a potential client, an old client, or a work friend. Respond to messages and emails on time.Set clear expectations: Communicate deadlines and deliverables clearly to avoid misunderstandings.

There are more ways to show professionalism without wearing a fake smile or a suit, such as writing error-free, engaging emails, replying to messages as soon as possible, and showing your authentic self on social media.

Feel free to share your ideas in the comments below!

Avoid unnecessary meetings.

I’m a guy who doesn’t like unnecessary meetings at all.

I love to attend important meetings, especially those with clients, to understand their projects and get to know them better.

The main thing is communication.

When you can deliver information via WhatsApp or a voice call, why do you need to schedule a meeting? Why can’t you share the information as soon as possible using the easiest method available?

The worst part,

Most of us forget important details if we decide to share them later, and sometimes that information feels outdated and no longer exciting to share. That’s how I stopped collaborating on and executing some ideas with some people.

I believe in instant information exchange, as we have the technology to share important messages immediately.

I don’t like it when someone makes simple things complex for no reason. We’re not corporate guys; we’re freelancers, writers, and young entrepreneurs. We don’t have bosses or investors to impress, so why the unnecessary professionalism between friends?

Don’t behave like a robot.

You’re a human, right?

Enjoy the process and smile from your heart. Work casually, and don’t behave like a robot.

Say no to unnecessary meetings.

Say no to unnecessary professionalism.

Say yes to casual work and be authentic. Simplify your life and make it easier for your collaborators too.

Work smart,
Earn passively,
Do what you love.

Thanks for reading this article. 💚

How to Get 5-Star Ratings From Every Client

Wanna get 5-star ratings on Fiverr or Upwork?

Wanna get detailed testimonial videos from happy clients?

No matter where you work or where you get your clients from, in this article, I will show you exactly how to make your clients happy.

Check out my Fiverr profile to see all the 5-star ratings I’ve received from clients around the world. You can also visit my website — InuEtc.com, or visit my Instagram profile highlights to see more ratings and testimonials.

I also work outside Fiverr, and I always make sure all my clients are 100% happy.

There was only one time when I had an unhappy client from Fiverr. I worked with him for a month to build his e-commerce website, but after I completed the site, he suddenly wanted to make some big changes.

I didn’t have any issues making the changes and was ready to talk to him to better understand the project.

The problem was that he wasn’t exactly sure what changes he wanted to make on the website.

He was confused, so I gave him a full refund—$700!

Here, I’ll share my experiences and what I’ve learned.

I’m sure that you’ll be able to make your clients happy and earn 5-star ratings if you follow my actionable freelancing tips.

Let’s dive right in.

Communication matters.

I focus on communication a lot. It can make or break a deal.

Whenever I get a lead, I text for a while and then join a proper video call to discuss and clear up all doubts before I start working.

I make sure that I understand all the requirements, and then I start working on the project.

Whenever you get a lead, try to get on a video call or at least an audio call. If clients prefer to text only, then text with full interest. Try to stay active and respond as well as you can.

Pay attention to how the potential client communicates on video calls or in chat. Clients who are consistently unresponsive, unclear, or uncooperative make collaboration difficult and projects harder to complete.

Never work with confused clients.

Underpromise and overdeliver.

“Underpromise and overdeliver” is a customer service strategy that involves setting reasonable expectations and then exceeding them.

Before I take on a project, I make sure to understand the requirements properly, I clear up all the doubts, and then start working.

I always communicate with the client while working, and I deliver only when I’m sure that the client is happy with the work.

However, I still offer unlimited revisions, even if the client was satisfied with the initial delivery.

Recently, I designed a website for a client I found on Fiverr.

Even after delivering the project, I made significant changes based on the feedback the client received from her friends and colleagues.

I did that happily because I know that next time the client will come back with more work. I also don’t mind working in my free time because the more I work, the more I’ll learn.

The reward?

I received a 5-star review on Fiverr and a detailed video testimonial from the client.

You can watch the testimonial here:

Unclear expectations.

Never work with clients who have unclear expectations or doesn’t know exactly what they want. You can never make this kind of client happy, no matter how much you try.

I’ve already mentioned my unhappy client story from Fiverr in the introduction of this article.

If you realize that your potential client falls into this category during your initial meeting, don’t close the deal. And if you realize it later, like I did, just give a full refund as soon as possible.

Underpaying clients.

Don’t work with someone who wants to underpay you, unless the client wants to compensate you in another way — through a 5-star rating, review, testimonial, or referral.

A client can always negotiate a little, but you know how much you deserve.

There is a line, right?

Never close a deal below that line.

Don’t undervalue yourself.

You know your craft. You add value to your clients’ lives, and you help them grow their businesses.

You deserve clients who help you grow, too.

You deserve high paying clients.

You deserve better clients.

Negative reputation.

If you work on Fiverr, you can see reviews of the buyer, and you can decide whether the client is authentic. You can also make a decision based on the way they text and their profile photo.

If you see a client with no profile photo, low ratings and negative reviews, you can expect a bad client or a scammer. You can discuss for some time and decide whether you want to close the deal with the client or not.

If you’re working outside a freelancing platform, you can check social media accounts of the clients, such as LinkedIn or Instagram. You can discuss and try to learn more about the client as well.

Offer services in the field where you’re an expert and that you love to work in.

I’m a writer, web developer, graphic designer, SEO expert, online business consultant, and digital marketer.

I love creating stunning websites.

I love playing with new website layouts. I love to learn new things about website design every day.

I love writing articles. Writing heals me.

I really enjoy designing graphics, and I love experimenting with new design ideas every day.

When you’re passionate about your work, you automatically deliver the best, you communicate with your client happily.

And when you’re an expert, it shows that you’re confident, you can charge more, and you can build authority and a brand too.

If you know the service you’re offering, you’ll understand the information you need to get started with the project.

Always try to upgrade your skills and focus on learning new things every day.

Also, make sure you learn some other things that aren’t even related to your core skills.

For example,

Learn basic sales, basic design, and communication. I also suggest reading articles about your industry to stay updated with the latest trends.

You can also watch videos, follow your favorite online mentors, and connect with fellow freelancers on social media. Of course, over time, you’ll learn more about sales, advanced design, or anything else you want to learn.

Believe me,

It helps to build your

Personality,Authority,Confidence, andBrand.

As you communicate better, and learn and apply sales skills, you’ll convert more happy clients who will always give you 5 stars and refer you to their networks.

If you’re a freelancer, keep these actionable and proven freelancing tips in mind before closing a deal.

Thanks for reading this article. 💚

If you loved what you read, would you be able to buy me a cup of coffee? It’s okay if you can’t right now.

If you have any questions or if you wanna work with me, feel free to contact me. I’m always available to help young hustlers like you @InuEtc on Instagram.
