SMM Basics: 17 Tips to Achieve the Best Social Media Marketing Results

While social platforms are continuously evolving with new features and functions, the “must-do” steps remain the same. While you may be tempted to focus on the new features, it’s the basics that will help you provide a solid social media experience for your followers and steadily improve your results.

Grab your pen and notepad and take note of our 17 tips to achieve the best results for your social media marketing.

1. Caption This…

While a large part of social media is reliant on visuals, don’t forget to put time and thought into your captions. A caption shouldn’t be too long, but it helps set the tone of your brand and gives context to an image or video.

2. The Power of Fame

A social media account takeover from an influencer, or celebrity is an excellent way to grow your audience and generate buzz. This way, you can tap into an influencer’s extensive network of followers and gain recognition and credibility by association.

3. #Savvy

Hashtags are a powerful tool to use in improving social media reach. However, your caption can lose emphasis and impact when 20+ hashtags are following the message. Opt for placing hashtags in your first comment and grow your network, while maintaining a streamlined appearance.

4. Pay it Forward

With algorithms in place on Facebook and Instagram newsfeeds, organic reach is becoming more and more difficult to achieve. Set aside a budget for social media marketing and give significant posts a boost. There is no set price, so you are in control of how much to spend on promoting posts or running ads.

5. It Takes a Village

The best way to build a social media community around your brand is to get your customers/followers involved. Ask your customers to share photos of themselves using your product and then repost their images on your accounts. Customers will appreciate the recognition and exposure, and in turn, your brand will have free user-generated content.

6. Video Content on the Rise

Video content is growing quickly across all social networks. It is an important element to incorporate into your content calendar. In addition, producing videos of product demonstrations, or behind-the-scenes clips is also a helpful method for brands with products, and/or messages that are best expressed in action. Peter Kowalkowski, CEO of SEO Advise, said on Forbes, “Cheap copy that’s riddled with grammatical flaws only attracts traffic that never engages or converts.”

7. Tweet Tweet

X (formerly Twitter) might not be a large part of your regular social media content calendar, but it is an excellent tool to use for building engagement at large events, conferences and trade shows. Since there are specific hashtags in place for these occasions and newsfeeds are live, these types of events offer the perfect opportunity to build your Twitter presence and take part in conversations and retweets.

8. Team Effort

If you have a large company, your employees are an incredible resource for building your brand’s social presence. While the accounting team doesn’t have to be posting photos on to your Instagram account, getting staff to like and share your content is a great way to increase reach and engagement organically.

Well, everyone’s actually competing for pageviews, hits, numbers, share of attention, RTs, shares, pins, love, kisses, etc. Whatever your metric, it’s a dog eat blog world out there. When I work on content strategy with my clients, we start with upcoming five content essentials:

9. Solve People’s Problems

Can you solve a problem that is common to many people?

“Step by Step” or “how-to” posts get bookmarked, saved, re-read, and shared. Don’t forget to include a title that describes said problem, and a teaser of one of your solutions in the subtitle.
A significant amount of search engine queries begin with a question. It makes sense to structure your content in a way that provides answers to the questions that people ask. Think backwards from problem to solution. People also like to share things that will also solve their friends’ problems – it raises their social capital!

That’s the kind of content that really makes the rounds. Ask yourself:

“If I came across this post on Facebook (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc), would I stop to read it or reshare it?”

10. Use Keywords, Sparingly

The adage is true: “Write for humans, not for search engines.”

That being said, tailoring your language to your targeted readers only makes sense, but in all the ways that are natural to good writing.

The sneaky practice of keyword stuffing does nothing for the other metrics that also mean a lot to search engines, including relevancy to the search performed (see #1), the time spent on site reading your content (establishing the site as trusted – which Google LOVES!), and the likelihood that other sites will want to link in.

A headline that speaks to the emotions will draw more readers (and sharing) than one that is purely descriptive. You don’t have to go full-Upworthy…but maybe half.
Providing images that can be meta-tagged is a great way to incorporate keywords without making a mess of your wonderful words.

11. Spread the Content

Social networks are like large firehoses spewing information, but there are some tips you can try to help your content cut through the chatter.

Pin a post to the top of your profile, especially on Twitter and LinkedIn. This is a great spot for “calling card” posts that show off your writing chops.

It might feel like overload, but posting 3 times a day on the day your content is published can really boost the numbers. Use a scheduler like HootSuite or Buffer to cover all the time zones. Vary your descriptions and sneak a little testing into your posts. You’ll appreciate the insights when you learn what resonates with your audience.

Tag those who are mentioned in your post. Tell ‘em personally via DM or Messenger. They’ll appreciate the PR and you’ll appreciate the RTs.

12. Email

Email – delivered from one person to another – is an awesome place to ask for the share. Even if you don’t have a formal list, sending your most recent content to your most beloved contacts is highly likely to result in a share. Asking for feedback and reactions is a great way to position this ask.

This tip comes with a caveat, however. “Your most beloved” contacts refers to people you actually know…your friends. We don’t mean every person you met at that social media conference last summer, unless they have actually opted in to receive such communications from you. Give yourself a CASL refresher if you’re still not sure. Mailchimp provides an awesome rundown of the legal stuff. Learn it.

13. Chunk It Out

Reading online (and usually on teensy weensie phones) requires particular structural practices to keep the eyeballs on the content. Headlines, sub-headlines, and bullet points (see #2) are all more easily digestible than big hulking paragraphs that strain the eyes.

Chunking your content into manageable paragraphs will lead to more time spent with the piece, and more impact to the reader, which increases your chance of getting shared. See how that works?

If your website is not responsive to mobile devices, the reading experience may be keeping your visitors away, and no amount of fancy formatting work is going to help. Use one of the Mobile Friendly tests and see how you fare.

So there you have it. Before you fret about your lacklustre numbers, set the intention to go through this list of the last five content strategy tips before publishing your next piece. In the information-firehose world we live in, all good ideas need a little help to be found when they’re bobbing around at sea.

14. Responsiveness

The responsiveness of your social communications tells your customers a lot about your business. Your customers are watching to see how you react to suggestions, questions, complaints and kudos from other people. They are looking for a quick response and a personal touch. Stagnant feeds and unreliable postings can have a negative impact on your social reputation.

Tip – Just like your email, define a time period in which social comments must be responded to.

15. Originality

Is the content you’re creating original and thought-provoking, or are you reiterating information that is already available?

Your audience isn’t looking for carbon-copy news, they are looking for authenticity, your own thoughts and insights. They will then use this to compare you to your competitors and see what they agree with.

Use mentions of your business or industry to share on your feed. It is your way of proving that you’re in the know. Also, if it is in your field of expertise, don’t be afraid to question, argue against, support or advocate for the topic.

16. Relevance

Do you know your audience? Do you know what is affecting them right now, this very minute? If the answer is a NO in this case, then it’s time to ACT on social listening.
Visit your followers and view your customer profiles. See what they’re talking about. If you’re not listening and asking the right questions, you may as well not be talking at all.

Spend a day looking into your social audience and make a profile or three to focus on. Then go back regularly to make sure your information is up to date and if there have been any changes.17. Character

What do you want your business brand’s character and personality to be like? Your online character must reflect your brand personality. If you are a super bubbly and friendly person, then let that translate to your social channels. If you are someone who likes to be supported by facts and present in a structured format, then let your online character become that. It may not be appealing to everyone but it is authentic, and will help you communicate with the types of customers you want to work with.

Finally, Remember – Consistency is Key

How you act, share and respond to your customers on social media is the key to creating your social ID. Providing consistent and great customer service will turn your followers into advocates for your brand, who tell all they know about your business.

A brand is what a business does. An online reputation is what people recall and presume about your products. So, deliver a friendly, positive customer experience and you can’t go wrong.

3 Ways to Optimise Your Marketing & See Better Results

Every business owner knows they need to invest in marketing, but it can often be a confusing area for them. You could be in a position where you need to optimize your marketing so you can see better results. This is often easier said than done.

That doesn’t mean it has to be overwhelmingly hard. Focusing on the right areas from the start could be more than enough to help with this. You’ll still need to put time and effort into it, but you shouldn’t have a problem seeing better results with your marketing.

Invest in Marketing Tools

With how much is involved in marketing, it’s always worth investing in marketing tools. These can help you a lot more than you’d think. They’ll make creating, implementing, and adjusting your marketing strategies much easier. They could even help you avoid more than a few headaches as time goes on.

It’s just a matter of finding the right tools for your needs. While these will often come at a cost, they’ll be more than worth it in time. Putting together your marketing strategies could be much easier, and you could even create better marketing strategies because of it.

Outsource to Experts

There are quite a few tasks involved in marketing, ranging from posting on social media to search engine optimization (SEO). This can often be why many people struggle with them. You don’t need to get them all done yourself, though. You could outsource many of your marketing tasks to experts. This can help you optimize your marketing and see better results.

It’s even more cost-effective than hiring full-time employees. If you want to outsource your SEO efforts, for example, you can check out here: https://tonimarino.co.uk. Focus on finding the right experts for you, and you shouldn’t have a problem seeing the results in time.

Establish Yourself as an Authority

The more of an authority potential customers see you as, the better. It helps you generate more sales and revenue, as potential customers will be more likely to trust you. You’ll need to spend a decent bit of time and effort into establishing this industry authority, though. Make it a priority.

There are countless ways you can do this. Being a guest on a podcast, publishing guest posts on industry websites, and similar steps can all be great. It takes time and effort to do, but it’ll be more than worth it once potential customers see you as an industry expert.

Trying to optimize your marketing can be tricky. More than a few factors can play a role in this. That doesn’t mean it has to be as difficult as you might think. While it takes time and work, you shouldn’t have a problem seeing better and better results in time.

Some strategies could help more than others, which is why they’re worth focusing on. As time goes on, your marketing should lead to more sales and revenue for your business. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t get there in time.

Top Lawn Care Tips for A Lush, Green Lawn

Are you struggling to ensure your lawn looks good and is thriving?

No one wants a patchy lawn, and lawn care can be tricky to get right, especially if you don’t know what you are doing, or you aren’t as green-fingered as you need or want to be.

Rest assured, lawn care doesn’t need to be a daunting task. With the right tips and knowledge, such as regular mowing, proper watering, weed control, dealing with compacted grass, and using grass seed, you can easily transform a lacklustre lawn into a vibrant landscape you can take pride in.

So, if you want your lawn to be the talk of the neighborhood for all the right reasons, check out these tips for a healthy green lawn that all your neighbors will envy.

Regular Mowing

It’s not just about how often you mow your lawn; it’s about mowing it right at the right time of the year. Ideally, you should mow your lawn at least once a week in the summer and every two weeks in the winter, spring, and autumn.

Regular mowing is not just a chore; it’s a proactive strategy for a healthy lawn. It encourages root spread, which is crucial for filling in gaps and keeping weeds at bay. By mowing regularly, you’re taking control of your lawn’s health and appearance.

Another great lawn mowing tip is that you need to leave the lawn longer in the summer, so adjust your lawn mower cutting height to around 5-10 cm. This will help it stop going brown in dry weather. Also, avoid mowing with blunt blades, as this will damage the grass, too.

Remember to use an edger on your lawn to help keep the edges nice, neat, and straight. This will not only give your lawn a more manicured look but also help with weed control. Neat edges prevent grass from encroaching on flower beds and vice versa, reducing the need for constant weeding. Use a lawn edger for neat lines to keep your lawn contained and defined.

Water Correctly

Young lawns need frequent watering, but you must also be careful not to overwater them. Overwatering can lead to shallow root growth, disease, and weed growth. New lawns in the first four weeks need watering daily, more so if you’re in a dry climate, to help keep the top inches of soil moist. From the four-week mark, you can reduce how frequently you water to every other day.

By watering your lawn early in the morning or late in the evening, you’re taking a proactive step to minimize evaporation and ensure your lawn gets the maximum benefit from each watering session.

Weed Your Lawn

Weeds are the bane of every gardener’s life, and when it comes to cultivating a healthy lawn, you can’t just liberally spray weed killer, as you risk damaging the grass. You need to remove weeds using a flat hand trowel, and it’s a good idea to rake your lawn before mowing to help you lift up weeds, such as buttercups and clovers. These are common lawn weeds that can be easily identified. This action helps the lawnmower pick up weeds more easily and kill them off over time, too.

Deal with Compacted Soil

Compacted soil prevents healthy lawn growth, which can result in bare patches in the summer and nasty mud baths in the winter.

Use a garden fork to push into compacted soil to about 10cm down and every 10 cm across the area that needs relieving. Put the fork into the ground and gently rock back and forth on the fork handle. This action opens up the soil, allowing it to breathe so you can encourage healthy, even growth.

If you have heavier ground, such as clay soil, it’s a good idea to brush sharp sand or really fine horticultural grit into holes. Doing so improves drainage and can help prevent future compaction.

Use Grass Seed

Applying grass seed in the spring or autumn can yield much better results. It helps you cultivate a thick lawn and cover any bare patches or thin areas to encourage even lawn growth. You should also aim to apply grass seed over your entire lawn every couple of years to help you avoid it thinning.

Lawn care doesn’t need to be overcomplicated. But you do need to be consistent, follow best practices, and give your lawn some regular TLC to help you create a vibrant lawn that looks good and captures everyone’s attention as they pass by your house.

12 Must-know Pinterest SEO Tips For Everyone

What comes to your mind when someone asks you about social media? It’s usually one of the three biggest players, Facebook, X, and Instagram

Something that has gone unnoticed and still offers significant benefits is Pinterest. You might be surprised to hear that Pinterest still commands over half a billion monthly users.

And with more users piling in, that number is only expected to grow higher. That said, as a business owner, you need to work on your Pinterest SEO. If you’re here, you’re probably looking for the best way to start.

We will take you through the right way to get your Pinterest SEO framework up and running!

12 Powerful Pinterest SEO Tips (That Actually Work!)1. Researching the Right Keywords

As with all types of SEO, it’s always best to start with a strong foundation of keywords. These keywords should be related to your niche and trends in the market. The quickest way to get effective suggestions is from the Pinterest search bar. It can generate useful keywords that can help you get started.

Once you have a preliminary list, plug that into more advanced keyword analytics tools like Google Analytics or Ahrefs to get a more comprehensive keyword profile. It also helps to keep an eye out for what keywords your competitors are using.

You may also want to tailor your keywords depending on specific sub-niches in your own business.

2. Optimizing Your Profile

The Pinterest bio is a vital place to include several SEO-related contents including keywords and links. Not just that, it is important to ensure that your bio helps to captivate audience interest and gain massive traffic

Ensure that the links you add aren’t broken and are live. Add a profile picture that is relevant to your business. If you’re using a photo, ensure that the lighting is good so people can see you.

A tip for the more advanced user is to have a specific landing page for users from Pinterest. This way you can track their numbers and gauge how effective your Pinterest bio is. Remember that this is the first thing visitors are going to see about you on this platform!

3. Writing Optimal Descriptions

While it is true that Pinterest is primarily an image-based social media platform, descriptions contribute significantly to both SEO and the understanding of your audience.

Ensure that you don’t force-fit keywords into your descriptions, it should come naturally. Writing detailed descriptions for your pins might take time, but is worth it in the long run.

Since you can also add links to your description, use them but don’t spam links which can lead to people not clicking them anymore. You must use CTAs to encourage people to take action. The optimal length for pin descriptions is anywhere between 400 to 500 characters.

4. Creating Captivating Pins

Now we come to the proverbial meat and potatoes of the blog – creating captivating pins! Pins are what differentiates this social media platform from its competitors.

Pinterest SEO Tips (1)

Ensure that you always use high-quality, professionally taken images as your pins. Adding overlay text where necessary is also a great way to attract engagement.

But never take the focus away from the image with text that is too big or visually distracting. Be mindful of your brand palette when creating images. Vertical pins should be created with an image aspect ratio of 2:3. Testing and experimenting with different image sizes and layouts is a great idea.

5. Adding in Long-Tail Keywords

We did touch on choosing the right keywords earlier in this article. Another step in the right direction is to opt for long-tailed keywords for your Pinterest profile.

Pinterest SEO Tips (3)

Finding longer keywords that relate to your niche while also being low competition can be tough but well worth the effort. It is important to focus on user intent when choosing long-tail keywords.

Once you have a list of these long-tail keywords, use them in various places on your Pinterest like titles, board names, and descriptions for best effect. Combining these long-tail keywords with matching visuals can deliver great results even in a short period.

6. Choosing the Best Performing Hashtags

Hashtags are one of the best ways to highlight keywords and also improve searches for your Pinterest. Like X and Facebook, users can use different hashtags related to their posts to get the most out of them.

As with the other social media platforms using hashtags, remember to not overload your post with hashtags.

Using 2 or 5 hashtags can cover most of your use cases without feeling very salesy. Doing some research to find the best hashtags in your niche is a great idea. Hashtags are trends that shift regularly, so keep ahead of the trends to attract the right customers.

7. Using Trending Pinterest Content

If you’ve been on social media even for a short time, you already know that trends can change quickly. When you’re using a platform like Pinterest for SEO, you must keep ahead of the trends. It helps to have a regular schedule where you read about different upcoming trends and try to stick to them.

Creating content around these trending content styles can give you a leg up over your competition. Remember that people are always looking for the latest style of images or designs that attract them. You can even repurpose trending content on your website to images on Pinterest.

When you regularly start pinning trending content to your Pinterest, you will accumulate more followers over time.

Pinterest SEO Tips (2)

8. Enabling Rich Pins on Your Profile

One of the standout features of Pinterest is the rich pin option. Just like Google’s Rich Snippets, rich pins have a lot of useful information embedded in them for ease of use.

There are three main types of rich pins including recipe pins, article pins, and product pins. Based on your niche and the type of pinned post, you can choose the one that best suits your content.

To enable rich pins on your Pinterest profile, you need to connect your CMS to your Pinterest profile. The WordPress dashboard’s Yoast SEO category has a simple option that can help you do this. All you need to do is ‘claim’ your Pinterest account and you are done.

9. Organizing Your Boards

An important aspect of your Pinterest that most people fail to remember is to organize your Pinterest board. When a person visits your profile, they should be able to choose from different categories and products.

Having all your pins strewn around your profile looks messy and can be a turnoff for your visitors. The simplest way to do this is to organize your boards with keyword-focused names.

This ensures that they will show up on searches and be useful to people as well. Ensure that cover images have high-quality images as this can impact their appeal. Ensure that you categorize your boards logically to get people clicking through all of them. Finally, ensure that you clean your boards and update them regularly.

10. Focusing On Vertical Pins

When it comes to optimizing the pins on your profile, vertical images are the most optimal. Why, you ask? Simple – because on Pinterest, the width is limited, so having taller images increases coverage and helps you get more ‘content’ to your users.

The best recommended size is 2:3 where it is width: height.

This holds for both image and video pins, so you can use the same pipeline for creating them. However, when it comes to video, there are also 1:2 for long video and 9:16 for vertical video.

While these are the baselines, you could A/B test different vertical pin designs to find what performs best for your niche.

11. Following a Pinning Schedule

The one aspect of social media where most people falter is probably following a set schedule.

A fact that bears repeating when it comes to success on social media is that consistency is what wins over people. Having high-quality posts scattered all over your timeline is not going to get you the best results for your business.

Have specific periods during the day or week where you pin on your profile. It makes it easy for people who are following your account to see what you post. It is good to err on the side of caution when it comes to pins. Don’t ‘over-pin’ which can be overwhelming to your users and is just as bad as not pinning.

12. Analyze Pinterest Analytics

One of the most productive features of Pinterest is its Analytics section where you can learn about how your account is performing. It gives users valuable insights into their audience, posts, and schedules.

Using this, you can choose a specific pin that you want to keep track of or highlight the best-performing pins on your profile.

Pinterest Analytics is great for SEO because you don’t have to rely on another third-party tool for most cases. It can help you adjust several variables like the type of content to post, posting frequency, and other aspects.

Pinterest SEO FAQsCan Pinterest Improve Your SEO Scores?

Yes, Pinterest has a sizable following of more than 500 million monthly users. It compares well to other social media platforms and businesses use it to build their brand.

Is Pinterest SEO Expensive?

The correct answer to this question is – it depends. But Pinterest SEO is a lot less expensive than other types of social media platforms to get started. As like with all social media platforms, it can get expensive for larger campaigns.

What Are Some Tools Used for Pinterest SEO?

Pinterest has a considerable built-in toolkit that SEO teams can use to get a lot of insights. Pinterest Analytics has a bunch of these tools and you can also opt for third-party tools like Google Analytics, Tailwind

Some Common Mistakes to Avoid?

Ensure that all the images that you upload are of the best quality you can manage. Carefully research your keywords and hashtags before you upload them. Stick to a schedule when you pin images to your profile and ensure that they are high quality as well.

Key TakeawaysChoose the right keywords that are aligned with your brand and your budget.Work on creating a captivating profile appealing to both humans and search engines.Create descriptions that talk in detail about the pin you posted. Pin images that are relevant to your audience and captivate them. Limit your hashtags to 2 or 5 per post based on your research.Enable rich pins on your Pinterest to improve user experience and engagement. Add long-tail keywords to your post, titles, and descriptions. Opt for vertical pins because they have more coverage on your feed.Stay ahead of trends on Pinterest to get the most out of your SEO.Follow a consistent schedule when pinning posts to your profile.Analyze your account with built-in tools and third-party tools for best results.

I Got a $200/Month Client on Medium – Here’s How

My Medium Partner Program income dropped, but I’m earning much more now thanks to Medium.

I’m not writing regularly on Medium for two reasons:

First,

I came to Kolkata to join my friend Rahaman to work on our businesses and grow Artiphik.com, our video editing and podcast post-production agency, so that we can travel the world as digital nomads.

Second,

I got a client from Medium who pays me over $200 per month.

Remember the article where I mentioned getting a consulting client from Medium?

Now I’m working on building her personal brand on social media. I’ve also made some changes to her two existing websites and manage Meta ads to promote her services on Facebook and Instagram.

I’m also thinking about sending cold emails to potential customers for her.

Now, we’re discussing a complete website redesign or creating a completely new website.

I’ll manage her YouTube channel too. For that, we need to edit videos, and our video editing agency, Artiphik.com, will handle that.

How You Can Get Clients on Medium

If you’re already looking for clients, I’m sure you already have skills too.

If not, please learn at least one skill, practice, build a portfolio, and get ready to work.

So, if you already have some skills, now you can use Medium to get clients too, just the way we use other social media, such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram to get clients.

Inu-Etc-–-Medium

Optimize Your Profile

Make your profile look professional.

Instead of using a random photo from Google or a picture of a cartoon or flower, use your own photo. Your face should be clearly visible.

Write a short, simple bio.

Mention your skills, email address, social media username, or contact page link so potential customers can reach you easily.

Write High-Quality, Valuable Articles.

Write helpful articles that add value to your readers’ lives.

My top-performing articles are from the Ultimate Guide Series, which are just pure value – no unnecessary noise at all.

If you read The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Digital Nomad, you won’t need to read another article or watch a YouTube video. That single article covers everything you need to know about becoming a digital nomad.

People will remember you, follow you, connect with you, and eventually purchase your services if you add value to their lives.

Promote Your Services

You can mention your skills and services in your bio, at the end of your article, or you can write full articles on Medium to talk about your services.

Just remember,

Too much promotion can irritate people and drive potential customers away.

That’s why you should focus on adding value first – write something helpful and work on building your brand.

Once you start working on your personal brand, people will eventually know about you and your services, and they’ll reach out if they need what you offer – no need to constantly share and shout about it.

I sometimes write highly valuable ultimate guides, but mostly, I just share my experiences.

For example,

The article that you’re reading now is just my experience but after reading this article you’ll get to know that I can design websites, I can run Meta ads, I can manage social media, etc.

It’s better if the promotion is also relevant to the article. Otherwise, you can always add a CTA at the end, you can add a link to your ‘Work With Me’ page or your portfolio with contact details.

Final Thoughts – I Got a $200/Month Client on Medium – Here’s How

It takes time to get results on platforms like Medium if you’re a complete beginner.

Follow these techniques to optimize your profile, articles, and overall personal brand on Medium.

I’ve been writing on Medium since 2018, and I’ve only gotten three clients and one sponsorship deal here as of now.

So, write here if you really love to write, don’t just write for money.

I never thought I’d get clients from Medium.

Even when the Medium Partner Program wasn’t available, I still wrote hundreds of high-quality articles here for free because I love to write.

Keep writing on Medium, work on your personal brand across social media channels, your website, and freelancing platforms.

Stay active everywhere, and be open to new opportunities.

Hobbies You Can Try Getting Into To Help You Relax

If you’re finding yourself constantly stressed out and nothing is working to help you relieve this, it can be a stressful time for you. It might seem as though nothing you do is going to work, and that can lead to more stress building which is the very last thing that you want.

The good news is that if you’ve not already tried them, there are some hobbies that are great for helping you with this. Everyone is different, so it’s not like we can recommend one singular hobby and that’s going to be guaranteed to work.

Instead, you’re going to have to find the one that’s right for you, which can sometimes be a little tricky. If you’re not sure where to start with this, you’ve come to the right place.

Down below, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the options we’ve come up with, so keep reading down below if you would like to find out more.

A woman engrossed in reading a book by a sunlit window creates a serene atmosphere.

Reading

The first option that we’ve got for you is reading. Some people will have immediately been put off when they read that because they think that it isn’t for them, and they might be right.

But, when was the last time that you gave it a go and read a book that might actually be of interest to you? Maybe your tastes have changed a little since you last gave it a try, so it’s important to try it out again.

Reading transports you to so many places that you would never be able to experience otherwise. It allows you to live between the pages in different worlds, with different lives and so much more.

If you can get into it, lots of people find that it helps them massively by offering them this escape for a little while. But, as we said, it’s not for everyone, and it’s okay if you can’t get into this.

Baking

Another thing that you can consider is baking. Baking is one of those things that people typically associate with housewives and people who have nothing else to do, but baking can actually be great for you.

It gives you something to focus on, it gives you something that you can perfect and master, allowing you to make delicious treats at the same time.

While the art of baking is very precise, once you get the hang of it, you will be able to substitute and change things as needed when you’re trying out new recipes, which should lead you to a feeling of success and accomplishment.

You’re going to need to buy a few different things to get started with baking such as tins, utensils, ingredients and more. As such, it helps if you know where to start with your baking journey, whether you want to start with cakes, bread or whatever else.

This way, you know what to buy, and you won’t waste your money on a whole load of things just in case you decide that it’s not for you.

Gaming

Gaming is another thing that you can look into if you want to relax at the end of a long day. Now, we know that gaming gets a bad reputation for a whole load of reasons, but that’s just one side of an argument that you are considering.

There are actually a lot of good elements that gaming has, such as helping with socialization if you’re playing online games with others (adults only), and assisting with problem-solving, helping your brain to develop critical thinking skills and so much more.

But, more related to the topic that we’re talking about, a lot of people find that it helps them to relax. Games like solitaire, other card games, and even video games can have a calming impact on people because they are doing something that they enjoy.

Also, it helps them to release their stress and frustration from the day which is super helpful.

We’re not saying that you should spend all of your time on games, but there’s nothing wrong with pursuing it as a hobby in the way that the media makes out.

Yoga

We’re sure that you’ve heard before that yoga is incredible for your health and for your mental health, including helping you relax. It’s one form of exercise that is supposed to release all of that pent-up aggression, energy, tension and stress, helping you to feel calmer and generally better.

The thing with yoga is that if you’re not used to moving your body in a certain way, then it can be hard to get used to it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. It might feel a little strange and as though you will never get the hang of it when you first try, but if you find that you enjoy the feeling it leaves you with, perseverance is the best option.

It might turn out that it’s not for you, but it’s still worth trying, because who knows, it could turn out to be something that you absolutely adore. It’s also great for your physical health, can help to keep you in shape, and make you feel generally better than you have felt for a long time.

A young girl tending to plants in a summer garden, capturing joy and nature.

Gardening

This one is something that is typically associated with old people and housewives, but that’s just because they have the time to tend to their garden properly. A lot of people don’t have this time because they’re so busy doing other things such as going out to work or trying to keep on top of everything and that’s okay.

The thing with gardening though is that you don’t have to start off big, you can do small bits to keep your garden looking lovely, and then you can work your way up from there.

When you’ve got time and the season is right, you can then start planting things and growing them if this is something that appeals to you. We’re not sure what it is, but there is definitely something soothing and calming about tending to your garden, so it might be worth a try if you’re looking for something you can do by yourself but isn’t too strenuous.

Writing

Have you ever given writing a chance? You might be under the impression that you can’t write to save your life, but we’re sure that you can. It doesn’t have to be the next big work of art or the next hit novel, it just has to be honest.

The point of writing is to express what is going on inside you that you are struggling to say, or that you don’t want to say to anyone, and that’s completely fine.

If you can write them out in whatever form you want, stories, poems, letters, blogging or whatever else, you may feel that stress melting away and relaxation take its place. You should find that it’s a huge weight off of your shoulders.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the hobbies that you can try getting into in order to help you relax. It’s not always easy to find something that you enjoy doing that also helps you to feel calm, but we know that you can do it if you put your mind to it.

It might be the case that the first hobby you try isn’t for you, and you don’t like it that much at all, which is completely okay and relatively normal. When this happens, you just have to move forward, pick another hobby, and hope that this one goes a little better than the last.

Thanks for reading this article. 💚

How To Make A Statement Whenever Your Business Puts On A Sale

Whenever your business runs a sale, the main aim should be to make it as conspicuous as possible; you want everyone to notice it and what you’re doing.

But how do you do that? What works in today’s world where there’s so much noise and drive to grab attention?

That’s where this article can help. It looks at some of the ways you can make a statement whenever you host a sale at your business, whether in real life or online.

Here’s what to do:

Create A Sense Of Urgency

The first thing you’ll want to do is tap into psychology and create a sense of urgency. If you can make people believe that stock is scarce, they are far more likely to want to come and spend with you.

Yes, this trick is just about as old as it gets. But, surprisingly, it still works. Most people believe that sales are always time-limited because you’re taking a loss (even if that isn’t true), and so it encourages more spending than at any other point in the year.

For example, you could advertise “while stocks last” or “limited supply” remains. You know the drill.

Introduce A Bold, Eye-Catching Theme

You also want to ensure your sale has a bold and eye-catching theme. This is something that worked well in the 1980s and 1900s but could also benefit your brand today.

For example, you could use foam board printing to get your message across. These posters are ideal for outdoor areas and brick-and-mortar locations that need to pull in passing traffic with visually interesting marketing

You could also add a general theme for the event that transcends physical and digital spaces, bringing them both together. For example, you could have a “great winter sale” or a “beach body sale.” Again, this type of thing should be quite intuitive to the majority of marketers.

Use Surprise Flash Deals

Another approach is to jumpstart your customers into action with surprise flash deals. These should pop up in their inboxes when they least expect it and encourage them to take action immediately.

Surprise flash deals can be a lifesaver for many companies because they encourage so much on-the-spot spending. You might be having a tight month, but a flash deal could turn the situation around. Discounts on some products may encourage shoppers to buy other high-margin items you sell, providing you with a healthy balance at the end of the sales event.

If you can time flash sales with periods where people are likely to spend more, like in the run-up to Valentine’s Day or their summer vacations, that can also help. This way, you can double your results without having to do much extra work

Tell A Story

Another way to make a statement when your business puts on a sale is to tell a story. Combining it with a narrative can be a highly effective way to engage people, especially on social media.

For example, a lot of businesses put on sales when they have been operating for a long time and have reached a milestone. As such, you might advertise your discount period as being your “10-year sale” to celebrate ten years of being in business.

If you can tie your story into something emotional, that can also help. For example, you might offer a sale to help certain people in the community or use it as a way to foster progress in your area. Whatever it is, if you can make it about the people in your area, they are much more likely to respond to it in the way you want.

Offer Personalization

If you can make personalized offers, that’s even better. People are often looking for deals that suit them personally and aren’t necessarily interested in discounts on bulk items.

The best way to personalize offers is to use digital tools. These help you segment your audience and send them ads that speak to them directly, showing them money-off products they actually want.

This approach often encourages impulse buying. Sometimes, consumers will see money-off products that they’ve had their eyes on for a while and simply decide that the time has come to take the plunge and actually buy them. What’s more, the amount of the discount doesn’t usually have to be that high. Even as little as 5% is often enough to push prospective customers in the direction you want them to go.

Follow Up

You can also make more of a statement when you put on a sale by following up with customers. Celebrating their results and posting their reviews and testimonials can also help.

Another approach is to simply cover the action on the day and tell the story of what happened. Posting photos and behind-the-scenes images on social media is a highly effective approach that delivers proven results in many circumstances.

Offer VIP Access

You could also try rewarding your customers by offering VIP access. This tactic plugs into human psychology and makes your buyers believe that you have a special relationship with them.

VIP access is one of the most coveted parts of being a member of a brand because it often means that customers get discounts earlier than everyone else, allowing them to have the pick of the stock. What’s more, they are often willing to pay for this privilege, allowing you to essentially charge them money for nothing.

Launch With Something Big

Finally, when setting up your sale, you’ll want to launch it with something big. Don’t hold back. The more of a splash you can generate, the better.

For example, you could start by teasing your sale on social media beforehand, suggesting some of the massive discounts that your audience could enjoy. Then, you could build on this by blitzing the local media and internet once the sale gets underway. Then you could follow shoppers around and show anyone still sitting at home the discounts that they could grab if they show up.

So, there you have it: some of the ways to make a statement whenever your business puts on a sale.

How to Build a Career as an SEO Freelancer in 2025

Every newbie and student must be aware of this. SEO, copywriting, and digital marketing are some of the most sought-after skills.

As per LinkedIn’s 2020 Workplace Learning Report: analytics reasoning, affiliate marketing, and video production were among the top 10 most in-demand hard skills. And SEO – well, it remained one of the top professional skills employers sought after.

Undoubtedly, SEO is one of the hottest, most alluring, and trending industries, and it´s a true opportunity for the creative guy and research buddy who adores continuously increasing his knowledge and keeping himself updated. Some SEO consultants like mine didn’t plan to commit their careers to SEO but started completely by accident.

So today, I’m going to share with you some tips and strategies that will support an awesome SEO career and add lots of value to growing your SEO career in the industry.

A Successful SEO Freelancing Journey Requires Consistency

We get to a remarkable discovery that had significant impacts and influences on many gurus who started their SEO freelancer or consulting business. You´ve probably heard about it or read about it many times before – it is the notion of consistency.

Every business is adapting to a digital transformation, and their owners want to strengthen their SEO, social media marketing, and branding efforts. Indeed, they want a digital marketing freelancer or consultant to drive the campaign in the right direction.

As a freelance SEO, you simply need to show the right approach and skills on how to market your clients’ businesses.

Every profession demands the fullest commitment, passion, and heart to get success.

Right?

What’s more exciting about SEO is that it never gets boring, and there are always new things to test and more to discover.

At times, it can be a slow success in some client cases, taking months, if not years, to fluctuate (upwards) the traffic and rankings. Without passion and consistency, the freelancing journey can’t be that fun and game you thought it was.

Don’t be a freelancer who commits a misstep – neglects this critical aspect and starts to lose that passion pretty soon.

Skills are important, but passion will make you stand in front of competitors.

Think of SEO Career Route

When pursuing a career in SEO, you need to keep in mind that there are different career options for you to choose from.

While you’re thinking of building a career in SEO, do you want to act like a freelancer? Do you want to join an SEO agency for industry experience? What’s your mindset?

Working as a freelancer simply means you’re deciding to work for yourself from the luxury and comfort of your home. You’ve a complete choice of how you want to shape your career and what kind of clients you would want to work for.Another option is to work at an SEO agency and gain live SEO experience under the guidance of an SEO project manager. You’ll likely be assisting your project manager in building and managing SEO projects, link building, analytics reporting, and various other tasks for their numerous clients. The last option is – you can join in-house for an organization in the industry you are passionate about.Gain Enough Knowledge and Live Experience

To refine your SEO knowledge and expertise, read wide.

If you are really interested to build your specialties in technical SEO, look for blog posts, white papers, and research about website UI/UX, architecture, navigation, measuring website speed, SEO checklist, and everything else related to that, including structured data mark-up.

MOZ, HubSpot, SEO by the Sea, and Search Engine Land are all great resources to learn all things SEO.

Luckily, there are tons of materials available everywhere on the net, and there are places you can take free training.

Google Search Central Blog is the place where you can read official Google core algorithm updates, upcoming news about the latest Google search features, and the best recommendations for SEO.Search Engine Journal covers a wide range of news, insights, and guides for the SEOs and search marketers related to SEO, PPC, content marketing, and social media marketing.Backlinko – Brian Dean is the guy, and Backlinko is the blog to look for next-level SEO training and link-building strategies for beginners, marketers, and business owners.Yoast SEO Blog – Yoast SEO experts share the useful and actionable insights you need to know about WordPress and technical SEO.The SEMrush blog covers a bunch of topics related to keyword analysis, On-Page SEO, content marketing, and content audit.

What you should avoid doing is becoming a textbook case. Don’t just read. Practice what you read and learn from your mistakes or success.

Apart from Technical SEO, learn:

HTML and CSSCopywriting and blogging skillsDesign skills (at least, you should be PRO with design applications like Canva or Visme)Hands-on knowledge of Search AlgorithmsMust be PRO with using SEO tools like Ahrefs, SEMRush, and Majestic SEO.Data analysisGoogle penalties and recoveryKeyword researchAdvanced methods of link building, andReporting segment.

Generally speaking, there are two ways to acquire knowledge:

The first one is by paying how to learn it, by investing time and money in courses, training, programs, book, and systems. The second one is to learn everything by yourself through research, but I doubt that you´ll be able to figure out everything by yourself.

The latter option will cost you multiple times more time than the former one, more nerves, and more headaches, and I don´t think you´ll be able to learn everything through free content on the web.

Be Goal Focused

Always have a plan for performing SEO, and do not fall into the rut of having a common strategy for everything. You will need to plan according to what works best for a particular website. At the same time, do not divulge all your secrets to your potential employers, even if they really end up hiring you. Some tricks should not be let out into the open if you want to keep your significance.

While many business owners and brands would be willing to hire you to handle their SEO, many are still lacking knowledge of how SEO and search engines work. They don’t know about the priorities, and they just want results. Being able to prove ROI to companies or your clients is essential to an ongoing business relationship.

Therefore, your SEO strategy should cover visibility, traffic, and ROI as the essential goals of the campaign.

Include critical SEO KPIs into your SEO reports and help your manager/Client understand their impact on the overall growth and success of marketing. It can be difficult to make them understand the data, but using Google Analytics and Data Studio would allow you to visually represent the data so that they can monitor it easily.

Timely Execution

The website’s complexity of what’s doable should not degrade the focus of an SEO marketing program. A big part of an SEO consultant’s job is to analyze crawling and SEO issues, research competitors, extract insights, and present recommendations in a way that balances options with priorities.

Prioritization is the key factor in the overall success of any marketing campaign. The development team should take this as a positive note that SEO recommendations can have the most consequence (short and long term), and of course, are good guidelines to go by.

Keep Working on Your Strength

Even though it looks like there is a single discipline, there are tons of areas you can specialize if you are in the industry.

For example, let’s say you want to be a link builder, you may want to be an outreach specialist, or you may want to be a specialist in prospecting.

Once you know what you love doing, spend more time getting better at it. This does not mean you should not spend time improving your weaknesses. Hardly have I seen an SEO who doesn’t know how to do almost all the moving parts of the SEO process, but as you grow and probably join a bigger team, your strength will set you apart.

Keep Testing and Experimenting with Your SEO Knowledge

So you think you know ins-and-outs of SEO? Let’s go ahead and put that knowledge to the test.

SEO is no longer a traditional keyword-oriented model, and it takes so much to cover a full-blown SEO campaign as Google keeps altering its ranking algorithm.

If you have innovative approaches for SEO, you can do so by testing your ideas on a testing website before you execute them on your clients’ websites. SEO has always been about small experiments and taking the resulting data to better strategizes the next experiments.

Be your own first client. Run a blog and grow it using all the techniques you are learning.

Work on Your Personal Branding

Personal branding for freelancers is all about finding out who you are and crafting your career around the true you. It’s also about constantly improving your online reputation.

As I discussed above, run a blog or a portfolio website.

When applying to SEO jobs on Upwork, Fiverr, or Freelancer, it is a standard practice to add in your primary website if you have one, as well as include previous websites you have worked on or even current blogs and affiliates sites you might run at present.

Your experience is, of course, the key selling point so take your time over it. You want to clearly state your experience in each area of SEO in separate paragraphs. Be brief but include all relevant information such as “SEO campaign manager for two years.”

A portfolio is perhaps the single most important item to have in place when trying to apply for an SEO job. Your portfolio should show all your professional qualifications and all the sites you have done previous SEO work for, and the successes you have had. Given the nature of the SEO market, having this online is incredibly beneficial.

Your social media personal profiles should be a snapshot of your expertise. If you’re looking for the attention of top-notch SEO agencies and SAAS brands for new SEO collaboration and no one is contacting you, start editing your profile regularly until you’ve got success.

Final Thoughts – How to Build a Career as an SEO Freelancer in 2024

SEO as a freelancing career is one of the skills that are not likely to evaporate anytime soon. As long as search engines exist and people use them to find information online, their job role will continue to exist. Provided you produce a good ROI, communicate effectively, and meet timely delivery, you’ll find more freedom, better work-life balance, and no more 9-to-5.
