Finishing Up Projects
“Frank Cho, Real Heroes variant cover preliminary. With Bryan Hitch”
One of my main goals this year is to finish up various projects that I’ve started over the years. This weekend, I’m finishing up couple of cover gigs that I started last month and got sidetracked by the holidays. The one you see is the variant cover (work-in-progress) for Bryan Hitch’s superhero book called “Real Heroes”. From what I’ve seen, Bryan is pulling out all the stops. It looks fantastic. The first issue comes out in the Spring.
The second project that I’m trying to make a dent is a creator-owned project called “Ghost Dog”. This is the secret project that I’m doing with my buddy the famed novelist, Tom Sniegoski. I’ve finished 10 out of 30 illustrations on this, and my plan is to finish the rest within the next 2 months. (Inch by inch, it’s a cinch.)
So this weekend has been a full one for me and I’m hoping to keep this work pace going until I’ve finished all of my neglected projects.
Now, it’s time for coffee.

Jungle Queen Work-In-Progress

It’s freezing out there. With the polar vortex putting half the country in deep freeze, today is one of those days where you just want to stay inside and draw. And that’s just what I did.
I realized that I’ve been neglecting my creator-owned Jungle Queen character all winter. So I decided to dust off the pages and start working on them again. Here’s the double page spread that I was working on all afternoon.
It’s amazing how quickly one can get back into the story. In no time, I was going over the entire story in my head and translating it onto paper. I know that I have a lot on my plate right now but I hope to have a short Jungle Queen story book out this year. Knock on wood.
Stay warm, everyone!

Bright New Year
Frank Cho: Judge Anderson and the the Dark Judges. Colors by Nei Ruffino
First, a huge thank you for making “Drawing Beautiful Women: The Frank Cho Method” Kickstarter campaign a smashing success!
You guys are simply awesome.
We raised over $152,000 in 35 days and made this Kickstarter campaign one of the most successful projects of the year. It also allows us to make this, my first art instructional book, one of the best and unique books in the field since I don’t have to worry about the finances and concentrate on the book’s content.
Thank you all. I won’t let you down.
Second, the spring convention season is just around the corner. London Super Comic Con (March 15-16) is the first one out of the gate. http://londonsupercomicconvention.com
Here’s the special promo art that I drew for the show, “Judge Anderson and the Dark Judges”, and wonderfully colored by Nei Ruffino. I will make more announcements about the show as things firm up. Until then, stay warm, everyone.
