Sorry for the late blog today. Things are hectic here, dealing with my upcoming convention appearances and working on multiple books. Pretty much a normal spring schedule for me.
Here’s a quick peek of one of the projects that I’m working on. I’ll try to post more as things move along.
Quick note: I’ll be sitting at the giant Flesk booth at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live in Kansas City. (May 9-11) Joining with me at the Flesk Booth are some of the best artists in the business: Mark Schultz, Iain McCaig, Steve Rude, Bill Carmen, Jackson Robinson, David Palumbo, Craig Elliott, Android Jones and Terry Dodson. Spectrum Fantastic Art Live 2014

There are two upcoming shows that I’m very excited about – Spectrum Fantastic Art Live in Kansas City, Missouri (May 9-11) and Big Wow Comic Fest in San Jose, California (May 17 -18). Both shows are near and dear to me. Both are run by close friends of mine. Big Wow Comic fest is about comic book art and cos-play, while Spectrum Fantastic Art Live is about popular intellectual entertainment art.
Today, I’m going to focus on Spectrum Fantastic Art Live. It’s operated by my friends, Arnie Fenner, Cathy Fenner and John Fleskes. It’s one of the most unique and underrated art convention in the nation. It’s the only show that focuses on book, movie, video game, comic book and sculpture art – the art that touches everyone on the planet one way or another.
I’m lucky enough to attend this show as a guest this year. To state that I’ll be surrounded by my betters is an understatement. I’m simply in awe by the sheer talent and brilliance of the artists and creators gathered in this show. [NEW PARAGRAPH] So if you’re in the Midwest and want your mind blown by the beauty of true art, not that modern abstract art crap, I highly recommend attending Spectrum Fantastic Art Live show in Kansas City, Missouri. May Work Overload

I can’t believe that May is just around the corner. It seems like winter was just last week. The comic book convention season is full upon us, and the comic book deadline crunch time is here
I’ve been busy churning out various covers for Marvel these last few months. Case in point, my Avengers #29 cover – part of the “Original Sin” storyline. But my cover days are over for now, I’m neck deep working on “Guardians of the Galaxy” annual #1.
It’s weird switching gears from drawing covers to drawing interiors but it’s been fun so far. Once I finish “Guardians of the Galaxy”, I’ll take a break and work my creator-owned projects. Few of those, I’ll announce after San Diego Comic Con. Busy, busy year.
