Here’s the finished cover to the special Baltimore Comic-Con exclusive art book celebrating the 15th anniversary of Liberty Meadows. The deadline was super tight on this but I got it under the wire. Big thanks to Brandon Peterson for taking time off his busy schedule to color and layout the logo on it. And big thanks also to Thomas Zahler for putting the whole book together.
Included in the book are pin-ups by talented artists such as: Frank Quitely, Brandon Peterson, Gene Ha, David Petersen, Bernard Chang, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Tom Raney, Billy Tucci, Steve Conley, etc.
This Liberty Meadows hard cover art book is super limited to about 1000 copies(?), and will be sold exclusively at the Baltimore Comic-Con on September 8 - 9

Cheerleader Brandy - Sketching the Cover

I’m working on the cover to the special Baltimore Comic-Con exclusive art book celebrating the 15th anniversary of Liberty Meadows. Various talented artists are doing their take on my Liberty Meadows characters, including Frank Quitely, Brandon Peterson, Gene Ha, David Petersen, Bernard Chang, Steve Conley, etc. It’s always interesting and exciting to see their interpretation of the characters.
I had a short time to do the cover to this book. One of the original visual ideas of the book was to make the book look like a high school yearbook. With time limited, I decided to put Brandy in a cheerleader outfit, partly for the yearbook theme and partly for the celebration of Liberty Meadows anniversary.
I thought it would be a very simple task drawing this cover but it wasn’t. As you can see from the multiple sketches, the evolution of this cover was far from easy. I guess it’s the perfectionist streak in
me, I didn’t like any of the my cover drawings. On this very last day of the deadline, I’m still trying to figure out the final image.
It’s gonna be a long night.
