WOMEN BOOK 2 Cover Art in Progress
FRANK CHO - Women Vol. 2 art book cover art - click to view
Well, I’m putting the finishing touches on my latest art book, Women Book 2. Here’s the cover art. It’s a mixed medium piece, mostly oil paint and colored ink.
I’m waiting for the oil paint to dry so that I can go in, tweak the hair and add some more detail. I’m having a blast with this cover, playing around with color and design.
I’ll post the final cover image when everything is done and dried.
WOMEN BOOK 2 is a collection of my female illustrations, ballpoint pen art, pin-ups and cover art from the last 4 years. It’s being published by Image Comics in the fall. You can order your copy at your local comic shop from this month’s Diamond Preview for books shipping in November.

When Frank Cho Met Paolo Serpieri
FRANK CHO with PAOLO SERPIERI in Montreal September 2012 - click to view
I’ve met one of my favorite artists of all time, Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri, at Montreal Comic-Con this past weekend. Serperi was one of the artists who helped shaped my artistic vision of the female form. (And well, guided me through puberty.)
And he drew me a sketch of Druuna in my first edition copy of Morbus Gravis.
My mind was blown.
All hail Serpieri, the grand master of beauty!

King Kong Painting Progress
FRANK CHO - KONG oil painting progress 2012 - click to view
I’m currently at the Montreal Comic-Con and having a blast. As matter of fact, I’m having so much fun that I’m exhausted. I’ll try to report what I did later, after I get some sleep.
Although I’m in midst of 4 projects, I sometimes need to take a breather and cleanse my mind by doing something completely different and for fun. I’ve been working on this giant King Kong painting for about 3 years now. Working on and off whenever time permits, mostly off. The painting stands at 48″ x 60″.
Well, I got the painting bug and decided to have another whack at it recently. At this point, I really want to nail down the features and anatomy before I start fussing with the color. This is the fourth time I’ve changed Kong’s head, and I think I’ve almost nailed it. At this point, I just want to keep working on it. But alas, Marvel deadline beckons and I have to put my brushes down and head on down to the salt mine.
More updates on the Kong painting whenever I have another go at it.
