Wolverine Weekend

Wolverine Savage FRANK CHO

FRANK CHO - Savage Wolverine #1 art - click to view full image

Hurricane Sandy came and went, and things have settled down for the most art. The tree that landed on house during the hurricane was removed from my house and carpenters are coming in this week to start the repair. Luckily, the damage to the house was moderate. The gutters are completely destroyed, some holes on the roof top and the entire sidings need to be replaced, but all things considered, it could have been worse.

So now, all I can do is sit tight, wait for the repairs to be done, and focus on Wolverine.

I just finished the massive double page spread of Wolverine and Shanna battling the cannibal horde. I’ve been picking at it for about 3 weeks, on and off. Unfortunately, I can’t show you the double page spread in its entirety but I can show you a small part of it.

The original art is 22.5″ x 28.5″ on Bristol board, vellum surface. Inked with Micron Pigma pens, sizes 08 and 01 with some brush work.

Enjoy.

Enjoy.

Hurricane Sandy Kicks Frank Cho’s Ass

Hurricane Sandy at FRANK CHO

Well, my worst fear came true during Hurricane Sandy. Two of the giant trees in my backyard fell on my house last night.

No one was hurt, although, the second tree came close to hitting the window near where we were sleeping in the basement. Now, we’re surveying the damages and trying to figure out how to get the tree off the house with light machines since they can’t get the giant crane truck into our yard.

It’s gonna be a long week.

Here are some pictures of the aftermath damage of Hurricane Sandy… and here’s me taking picture of Sandy.

Michelle Ryan In Dragon Lines

Michelle-Ryan color sketch FRANK CHO

FRANK CHO - Michelle Ryan - click to view full image

I’ve been grinding away on Wolverine non-stop for awhile now. I decided to do something fun and non-Wolverine related today just to cleanse my mental palate. I revisited my creator-owned project, Dragon Lines, which had been gathering dust in my drawer.

There are three main characters in Dragon Lines story. One of the main characters is loosely based on the British actress, Michelle Ryan. I fell in love with Michelle Ryan when I first saw her in that uneven Bionic Woman remake few years back and recently in “Mister Eleven” and “Cockneys Versus Zombies”. I knew right away that she would be perfect as the Vatican sponsored female assassin, who’s dealing with a suicidal brother.

As I worked on this watercolor, the more and more I wanted to finish Wolverine and jump on Dragon Lines. And I’ve found myself writing several new pages of script for Dragon Lines.

But first thing first, I have to finish Wolverine…
