Elements Of Twitter Style

Elements Of Twitter Style:

This is actually a really well-written piece on Twitter etiquette. Whether you're an advanced or novice user, chances are you'll take something away from it, especially beginning with "Write For The Medium".

The $0.69 iPad Stand

The $0.69 iPad Stand:

Fashioned from an Office Depot business card holder. Hard to beat that.

Transmit 4

Transmit 4:

Now available, Transmit 4 has a slew of new features, including the new Transmit Disk feature allowing you to mount any of your favorites in the Finder itself (similar to Dropbox, I believe). The UI has been revised quite a bit, too.

Forcing HTML5 'details' Support Using jQuery

Forcing HTML5 'details' Support Using jQuery:

The details element, as explained by the W3C, is designed to be a "disclosure widget from which the user can obtain additional information or controls." Think of the +/- control in Windows or the right/down arrows in Mac OS. (Check the demo page and you'll see what I mean.)

This script by Mathias Bynens allows you to use the element with jQuery forcing support for those browsers that don't yet natively support details. According to Mathias...

ABtests.com

ABtests.com:

See examples and statistics from actual A/B tests, and upload your own to share with others. What a killer idea.

jQuery Masonry

jQuery Masonry:

I can't explain it any better than its creator, David Desandro:

Whereas floating arranges elements horizontally then vertically, Masonry arranges elements vertically then horizontally according to a grid. The result minimizes vertical gaps between elements of varying height, just like a mason fitting stones in a wall.

If TypeNeu were still up, you'd see a fantastic example of this kind of...

Trans-Poser

Trans-Poser:

Phil Coffman:

Taking cues from Dieter Rams and other vintage electronics I designed this 'face-transplanting device'. All of the buttons, dials, and UI elements were created from scratch in Photoshop using vector shapes and layer styles almost exclusively.

Really fine UI work, Phil.

TrackThePack Commercial Tracking

TrackThePack Commercial Tracking:

It helps that they've got a nice iPhone app for tracking packages from just about any shipping service, but what I find really appealing is their Commercial Tracking service for small business sales. For a low monthly fee, add tracking info and progress maps to your site/store with a few lines of JavaScript. Of course, this competes with the convenience of automated tracking emails sent from PayPal or your fulfillment software, which may be a tough sell.
