Happy Equinox!!

Today, at 5:18 pm EST, the day and night are balanced equally, which I think is pretty cool.  It's also why my trees are starting to go yellow and my humming birds are starting to go scarce.  I have already taken one of my feeders down and put the thistle seed feeder in its place for the goldfinches, but the hummer feeders won't come down until late November.

VampireRomance2It is also the 22nd, which means that the Dawn Cook short vampire story is officially out in the US in the anthology VAMPIRE ROMANCE...

MMMMMMonday!

And am I glad it's here.  I could use some sit-down time.  My feet hurt.  This weekend was a doozie.  Guy and I went to the nursery.  (October is a very good month to plant bushes and trees where I live.)  I could go on for pages about how much I love plant nurseries, but we managed to get out of there with only two trees.  One we brought home to plant ourselves, and the other we left for them to do.

So we bring our new baby home.  (A maple.  The guy said it will color to red, pinks, oranges...

TGIF. Really, TGIF. I'm sooo tired.

Big news today is of course the radio show yesterday!  Here's a link to go listen.  listen here  (grin)  We went over our time a little, there were so many people who called in.  It was wonderful, and I really enjoyed it!  I got to talk to Jemmea and Vampy and Mud from the board here, and A.N. was in the chat room.  (I thought they might choose your question about Jumoke to ask on air, so I didn't answer it then, but the reason he is dark when all other pixies are light is a good question. ...

Set your clock

I know I will be.  (grin)  Today is the day that I will be on live internet radio talking with the authors of the UNBOUND anthology.  Jocelynn Drake, Vicki Pettersson, Jeaniene Frost, and Melissa Marr.  And hopefully, some of you as well!  Now's your chance to grill us on our work, be it about the characters on the page or the way that we get our thoughts onto the page itself.  I love doing these shows because someone from the post page usually calls in, and it's always nice to put a voice...

Darn it, I cried again.

As some of you know, I'm doing a mad-dash read through of the entire series, taking notes for the world book and generally brushing up on the Hollows before I start the next one later this year.  Yesterday I read through FOR A FEW DEMONS MORE,  finding myself not quite able to bring myself to read the ending.  At about eleven at night, I got to the part where Rachel had gotten the focus out of her, and everything was happy.  I closed the book, not wanting to go to bed with her misery on me. ...

Up next, For A Few Demons More . . .

. . . because I finished A FISTFUL OF CHARMS.  Whoa, my eyes are just about going buggy, so I'm sorry about any typos.  I'm actually writing this the night before it gets posted because I've got another full day tomorrow and I need every scrap of the clock on Tuesday.  This read-a-book-a-day schedule is hard to keep up with as I read a book and nibble at my copy edit.  Both are going well, and I've already found something in my FOC re-read that contradicts something in BLACK MAGIC SANCTION...

Busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend, and I'm ready to sit in front of my keyboard for a couple of hours . . . if my fingers could remember how to type.  (grin)  I finally decided that a rock pile in the corner of my lot wasn't working as a rock garden, (too dry, not enough sun, typical understory desert) so I pulled out about a dozen of the best-shaped rocks and moved them to the front yard where they finished off an edging project I'd been nibbling away at.  It looks much better.  Then Guy and I played...

Today, I'm reading . . .

Every Which Way but Dead;-)   And I'm loving it.  In preparation to writing the world book, I decided to do something I've not done in years.  Read–worldbook notesactually read–my own work.  For the most part, by the time I'm doing copy edit, I'm ready to drop what ever it is and move on to the next, but there is so much history, so many little things that I've forgotten, that I am going to take a week and read them all, making notes all the way.  I've already read Dead Witch Walking and The Good, the Bad...

Young Adult Author Kaleb Nation . . .

Bran Hambric Farfield Curse

. . . has his debut this week, and if you have kids that are resisting reading, this might be the one to yank them into the fold.  (grin)  I read this ages ago in manuscript form, loved it, and it's finally out!

Bran Hambric and the Farfield Curse is a fun, fast, quirky read, that has a tension-filled ending, so don't think you're getting fluff because of the light start.  I'm not sure if a sequel is planned, but I hope so.

If you're curious, there's more at my agent's blog E-reads, or you...
