Urban Fantasy "Unbound" Video
To help celebrate the upcoming anthology release, Harper has made available a video that we made at Comic Con NY, last year. I have the one of Jocelynn Drake and myself here, but if I can snag it, I'll put up the one that Vicki Pettersson and Jeaniene Frost made as well. Melissa Marr couldn't make it to the convention, or she'd be in here too! Enjoy!
(Kim doing the happy dance for figuring out how to embed the video here)
Unbound is due out August 25th. My novella is from Jenks's point of

No Drama . . .
. . . but I'm working on it. Yes. It's true. It might be a no-drama day today. I'm working very intently on the graphic novel rough draft. I want a couple of weeks to play with it before I turn it in, so I'm crunching on the hard stuff.
What that means for me is I've no time for drama. Save your drama for your mama, put your issues in your tissues, and send your bother to your father. I'm too busy right now. (grin) My only other goal right now besides my twenty pages is to get suet in

Busy Weekend
I went into this weekend with a vague idea of going to see a movie, and pretty much a clean slate beyond that. The one we saw was . . . disappointing. I thought it was going to have a thicker story than it did, so all the bang and flash I usually like kind of fell flat. Oh, and the kicker? Ice floats. It does not sink down and crash onto the bottom of the ocean floor. Clearly this movie was not made for me.
But beyond that, I worked at tidying a few areas I've been trying to get into this

Eos and Brom original sketch contest
To celebrate the upcoming release of CHILD THIEF, Eos and Brom are giving away 3 original sketches or a signed print from THE CHILD THIEF.
You might not have heard of him, but I bet you've seen his work before, Brom is a celebrated fantasy artist, and he's illustrating his own work of literary fiction, a retelling of Peter Pan.
I read this in manuscript form, and LOVED it. CHILD THIEF goes on sale August 25th, (same as the anthology UNBOUND) More info at the Eos Blog.

Dog Days of Summer

Xander and Aleix, chillin
There is absolutely nothing going on at the Harrison household, and I love it. Puppies are content watching me work, and the summer has fallen back into a pleasant pattern after having returned from vacation. You can almost hear the Om sound rising up from the woods like a collective meditation, washing over the house. Balance. It feels good.
And then someone comes and pushes you over. (grin) Wait for it . . . wait for it! You know it's coming! ;-) But I'm enjoyin

Stretching New Literary Muscles
So I've been working on the new graphic novel this week, and I've noticed a few things. First, I'm sitting differently at my desk. I'm aching in different places than usual by the end of the day. Second, I still feel like I'm fumbling around–sort of like when I first started writing and didn't quite feel comfortable in where to make the paragraph breaks. Now, I don't think about it, but back before I had put in enough hours, I sweated over that. It's getting better, and I'm loving each litt

There's something in the air
And it's not what you think. (grin) No, really, this morning when I took the puppies out, there was a breath, a hint, a whisper of cooler temps, less humidity, and the tang of leaf decay. Summer isn't over, but I tasted it's death this morning. If you can't tell, I do like fall. It's not my favorite season, but I'm usually ready for it when it gets here.
Okay, so what does that have to do with the drama box? Well, my thoughts turned to fall, and one last promotional fling before the end of

You Tell Me.
Monday, and it's kind of soggy outside, which is really weird for late July, early August. I did make some time to play in the dirt this weekend, mostly pulling weeds since I'd not been in the yard for about three weeks, but it felt good to be putting things to rights. I try hard not to work on the weekends , but I made an exception and put in about ten hours of work in over the two days. Now I'm kind of tired, though, and not that enthused about working today. Blahhh. I know as soon as I t

Something I forgot about . . .
. . . but one of my astute readers found.
I you by chance like vampire romance, and if you by chance pick up the latest MAMMOTH BOOK OF VAMPIRE ROMANCE 2 edited by Trisha Telep (Due out September 2nd) there is a short story in there by me under the Dawn Cook name. (grin) This will also be released in the UK under the title LOVE BITES, MAMMOTH BOOK OF VAMPIRE ROMANCE 2. (Due August 27th) There's kind of a funny story about how it came about because the person collecting submissions came t

Is it Friday yet?
Not that it really matters much this week. I will be breaking my rule and working this weekend, which really sucks, but if you take a day off, you have to make it up somewhere. Yesterday wasn't really taken off, but I was out of the office for about four hours, and working until ten didn't get me where I wanted to be. Maybe I should have titled this Waiting for the Wahbulance. (grin) I was all set until something unexpected landed on my desk with a seven-day turn around. (Where the heck is
