DreamHaven
OMGosh, I could have flown to the West Coast yesterday with the time I spent in airports yesterday! I spent the day with Guy, so it was a good day, but between canciled flights and circling the airport because of VIPs needing the entire airport to take off, I didn't get to my room until almost eleven that night. Man, it was a long day. I felt so bad for the people who were waitng for me at DreamHaven. They looked so tired when I finally walked in and spent some time with them.
Thank...

No post today. I'm in transit!
And tomorrow's post might be late, but I'll try to get pictures up of the signing on Thursday at DreamHaven as soon as possible.

ARCANA
Today after waking up from a _very_ odd dream about being a vampire in high school . . .
(which is another post entirely in itself. There was no blood, there was no serious light restriction, and there was no outward sign you were a vamp besides wearing black. It was almost exactly like my real highschool experience. Ha, ha. What's the point of being a vampire if you are ordinary? )
. . . I'm prepping for ARCANA this weekend. I'm heading out a little early to do a signing at DreamHaven...

Scary rides
I got a lot done yesterday in my semi-enforced holiday from the Internet. (Ha! Like I could really stay away completely!) I've got the conference out in Minneapolis at the end of the week, and since I'm going out early for a signing at DreamHaven, my schedule is a little scrunched. My rewrite for book nine is almost done, and I want it finished before I leave.
Not meant to be a teaser, but . . . I finally got to the end of it yesterday, and was surprised at how I ended it. (Yes, I do...

They tell me it's Columbus day.
So I'm taking the day off from the post page. Whoo-hoo! Back on Tuesday.
If you're a long-time poster and want to trade out your colorful folk-art avatar for one of your own, here's the link. Just be sure to use the same email that you use when you post here!

And somedays, it all falls into place
If you read yesterday's post, you will know that I was having a bit of motivational trouble with something Al wanted to do. I think I spent about twenty hours on this chapter, trying a few things until I pulled an element from each "version" and melded it into something I liked. Al is Al. Rachel is Rachel. It's all good. It was an unexpected slowdown that I tend to get impatient with myself with. I'm getting better at taking them in stride and playing with them to see what happens.
And...

Some days are slower than others
As some of you know, I've been working the last week on turning my rough draft of book nine into my first copy of book nine. (There will likely be four to five versions of this before it's done and we move to copy edit. Three of them before my editor sees it, and one or sometimes two versions to take in her suggested changes.)
I'm trying not to be to anal about this version because I know there will be at least one more, but I like to turn in something that is as perfect as I can get it. ...

Polish Edition just out
This morning, I found this little gem in my mailbox thanks to my Polish translator. (Thank you, thank you!) I don't think she was impressed with the short hair that the cover artists gave Rachel, but I kind of like it. (grin) This came out in about two weeks ago, and the reviews are good, but mixed as usual. Rachel is a different kind of girl, and she takes a little getting used to. (laugh) I'm told they went with the title, BRING ME THE WITCH'S HEAD, that goes with the movie "A Man...

Because you've seen enough spiders
Enough with the spiders, right? Here's a picture of my two dogs, Aleix and Xander in the sun. Something fuzzy and warm to make up for the snakes and crawlies. (grin)
It's raining again today, which I like. It seems to dampen my pace and slow me down a little, not depressing me, but just giving my work pace a well-needed downshift. unfortunately it's a little too chill outside to have my window open too, or I would listen to it as well.
I also passed a milestone this weekend, though it...
