Will you be near Charlotte, NC Saturday?

Out doing some shopping Saturday?  Going to be near Charlotte NC?  More specifically, Rock Hill, SC?  Me too!  (laugh)

This Saturday, I will be signing with fellow urban fantasy writer Faith Hunter from noon to two where I'll be pushing the Hollows and Madison, and she'll be pushing . . . uh . . .  See, Faith has got more books on the shelf than me, so she'll be pushing everything, but mostly her latest series, Jane Yellowrock starting with SKINWALKER, I think.  (grin)  I'll have the BLACK...

Black Magic Sanction Tour T-s

It's that time of year again!  The Tour T-s are here at last!  As you can see, we're going with the Alcatraz theme again.  (grin)   This is original artwork, and I really like it.  Wearing one to a signing gets you into a "family photo" at the bookstore and bragging rights.  (grin)  We only make these available until the tour, and then they are gone, which makes them extremely limited.  And they are pretty cool conversation starters at the office, too.  The dates listed are not confirmed, so...

Happy News

I've got some wonderful news today!  WHITE WITCH, BLACK CURSE was awarded the second place spot for B&N's bookclub list for best urban fantasy of the year.  Whoo-hoo!  I am so pleased!  And what's even better is I like/enjoy/recommend the book that beat WWBC.

Here's the link to check them out.  I've been a guest at this site before, and really enjoyed myself.

The Black Magic Sanction tour T-s are almost ready.  We're trying to find a cheaper shipping.  More tomorrow.

P.S.  There is a site...

NaNoWriMo. How did you do?

I guess the real question is, did you enjoy yourself?  I had fun sharing progress with some of you, and I hope that maybe we encouraged each other just a little.  I know the official NaNoWriMo site is chock full of ways to interact and encourage, and I hope more of you participate next year.

My totals?  I did not make it.  (laugh)  At the end of yesterday, I had taken my last batch of dialog (8 pages) and turned it into 19 pages of prose, which was about six thousand words, bringing my...

Weird morning

I think there is a front coming through this morning.  I could feel it when I went outside with the dogs.  It's sunny right now, but I'm going to guess it's going to rain shortly after noon today.  Just a guess.  ;-)   It feels like things are shifting in a smooth pattern, not a jerky jump.

For those of you who are participating in NaNoWriMo, this is the last day to try to meet the 50,000-words-in-a-month goal.  I'm not going to make it unless I have a cracker-jack day.  Friday I pulled in a...

Putting in for a day off next month

That's what I'm doing today, and I hope I get it because the boss here is a fruitcake and stickler for making deadlines.  She's so freaking organized and driven to make some deadline 14 months from now that she's making me work the day after Thanksgiving.  But I suppose she's right.  If I had today off, I'd simply waste it by NOT going to the mall, and the deadline she's working on isn't the only one she has in the next 14 months.   I'd much rather have a day off next month when I can go...

Happy Thanksgiving!

I will be taking a break from the Drama Box tomorrow, so happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate.  I plan on enjoying some time in the kitchen starving myself so I can then stuff myself on chicken, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, and pie.  Not sure what kind of pie.  Maybe I'll make pretzels instead.  (laugh)  Or Guy's favorite volcano cookies . . .  Mmmm.  This has possibilities.

I won't be taking part in Friday's shopping, but I'll probably get out Saturday or...

Progress

This week is going to be an odd one with Thanksgiving in there, but since I'm parking my little butt at home and not going anywhere, I will be tightening my determination to the sticking point and am planning on working both tomorrow and Friday.  I'm finally starting to get some momentum behind the story, and I want to keep it going.  Unlike a train, progress on a rough draft can stop on a dime and yet require a full head of steam to get it going again.

Friday I got about twelve pages done...

Kim Harrison December Signing

I try very hard to keep my December clear of obligations, but when I have the chance to sign with fellow author Faith Hunter at our local store, The BookRack, I usually take it.  (grin)  We will be taking part in their Author Fest weekend, and our times are from noon to two, on December 5th.

The BookRack's signings are usually _very_  low-key, with small lines and lots more time for one-on-one, so if you are out shopping and in the Rock Hill/Charlotte NC area on December 5th, bring your books...
