Yo-Yo Ma He's got it.

I don't get out much, but last night, Guy took me to the Charlotte Symphony to hear Yo-Yo Ma.  Right up front, four rows back, I could see him sweat.  More important, I could see his passion.  Some of it was stage presence, which I recognized as I do it myself, but when he played, you could see the passion, and it felt good to see it there.

There was a violinist, not the first chair, but the second.  She had it too.  It probably helped that the piece of music was in my opinion, romantic. ...

Yep. It's another contest . . .

(grin)  Actually, it's a continuation of one that started last month.  Bitten by Books is trying to find their reader's favorite paranormal author of 2009.  Last month was the preliminaries, and now we are in the final voting.  I made the cut!  (yay!)  Voting runs from now to this Saturday 10/31/09 at or around 11:59 am CDT.  The authors that made the cut are, in no particular order:

Kim Harrison
Charlaine Harris
Candace Havens
Tonya Hurley
Richelle Mead
Karen Marie Moning
Stephenie Meyer

Not that bad. . .

It's Monday, and it's not that bad, even though I'm up way before the sun.  (grin)  I did end up working Saturday after a call Friday had me thinking that I might have an unexpected down-time mid week, but as it turned out, commitments were moved to next weekend, so I got my Sunday back, at least, and I used it to the fullest!  Wee bit of shopping at the grocery store, made a pumpkin pie from scratch, (actually boiled a pumpkin, if you can believe it) did some laundry, and watched about...

Happy Friday!

Yay!  We made it to another one!  I don't have much planned for this weekend, but that in itself is a good thing.  The leaves are starting to look good here, so I think a walk with the dogs is in order, but otherwise . . . it stretches like a mini vacation.  Ahhhh. . .     I think I'm going to bake something.

But that's tomorrow.  Today is bunches of work.

Dude, it's a pre-industrial babe!

If you've not heard, my annual Halloween Costume Contest is now running, and I'm taking submissions.  Just a few so far, but it's early yet.  pictures

This week I'm sandwiching in the page proofs for BLACK MAGIC SANCTION between the graphic novel rewrite and the last chapter of book nine (which I'm still working on.  I finished it, but had an idea last night which I need to try out.)  Long story short, if I'm working on the page proofs, then the ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) will be printed...

Kim Harrison's Halloween Contest 09

Halloween09

It's that time of year again, and I'm hosting my 3rd annual on-line Halloween costume contest.  If you've entered before, the submission guidelines will be familiar, but even so, please take a moment to check them out so Guy won't have to try to track you down to find out little details like how you want to be identified, and as always, don't send me a picture unless everyone in the shot agrees that I can post it online with an identifying name. You can send me pictures from previous...

Home Again . . .

And am I tired!  ;-)   The flight back was wonderfully bland and unexciting with no bad weather, no canceled flights, no crying babies, and no VIPs messing everyone's schedule up.  (grr)

AARCANA1I had a great time at ARCANA this year, and I have the pictures to prove it, but as usual, I'm glad to be home and back at my desk.  The forced inactivity for the last five days has given me the time to think about how I want to handle the last chapter in book nine, and there will be some adjustments.  They...

ARCANA

I generally don't update the blog on the weekend, but since it's a workday for me, I thought I'd go ahead and bring you all up to speed.  ;-)

For those of you who don't know, I'm spending the weekend in Minneapolis at a small convention called ARCANA, and I'm having a great time.  Yesterday was busy with panels, Q&A sessions, readings, pizza and a movie, and an auction.  (Where Guy and I gave up one of those signed, limited edition mugs and the last of the Outlaw Tour shirts.) I've got a shot...
