Wrede on Writing
Pat Wrede's new e-book on writing tips, the best of her blog boiled down, is just now out from Diversion Books:
http://www.diversionbooks.com/ebooks/...
Highly recommended for writers on all levels, those who live with them, and people such as teachers simply interested in the writing process.

Uncle Hugo's has signed stock
Just a reminder, with the holiday shopping season coming up, Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction Bookstore here in Minneapolis has most of my books signed, and does mail-order. With a little more lead-time, you can also get personalizations -- I will certainly get over there more than once before the end of the year.

They have a lot more signed editions in stock than just mine, depending on which writers have been through for signings lately, so by all means look around the website.

Finnish interview
Not, happily for me, in Finnish for the most part -- this was recorded during my GoH gig in Tampere for FinnCon a while back (summer before last, one can tell by my still-long hair, which I cut back this past spring). I hadn't thought I would get a look at it, but I see it has turned up on YouTube, here:

Great trip.

Horizon in Japan!
The fourth volume of The Sharing Knife, Horizon, is just now out in Japan from Tokyo Sogensha. My long-time Japanese translator, Ms. Ayako Ogiso, was kind enough to forward me an advance peek, which I can now share with you.
As is common, the volume is divided into two little paperbacks, making the series there run eight volumes in all. I hope I have scanned them in the correct order, here.

and the back, for those who can read it:

Interesting take on the bat-malices...

Birthday greetings from Russian fandom!
Will you still read me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?
Evidently!
The Russian fans just sent me this delightful e-birthday card. See if you can identify everyone represented -- I think I can.

(Any Russian fans picking this up are invited to chime in with art credits, links to more fan art, etc.)

Bujold e-book link recap
My books, I have noted before, can be a little hard to find in the iTunes store. Here's a handy link rounding them up (including, naturally because it's iTunes, the audiobooks):
https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/lo...
And for the UK likewise:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/lo...
And Nook USA. I had heard that Nook was trying to expand into the UK, but I have no idea how it's going for them. Has anyone had direct sightings or experience?

The Warrior's Apprentice in Korean
This came in today, from my Korean publisher SIAT to New York to me...

And the back...

No, I have no idea what this all says, but I see it is clearly marked "3" in my newly numbered series.
My literary agent came back from her annual pilgrimage to the Frankfurt Book Fair with a list of Korean SF bestsellers by the hand of her Korean subagent -- two of the newly published Vorkosigan books were on it, which I take to be a good sign.
SIAT has bought the first 12 VK books altogether, now, so they seem to be putting a lot of support behind the series. They seem to be going for a unified series look with the covers so far. (I posted cover scans of the first two books here a bit ago.) I hopes it goes well for them!

The 2013 Forry Award
I am very pleased to report that the Los Angeles Science Fiction Society has kindly voted me their 2013 Forry Award. Founded in 1934, LASFS may be the longest-running SF fan group in the world.
http://www.lasfsinc.info/index.php?op...
The award is named after Forrest J. Ackerman, long-time fan and collector from the L.A. area. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times at WorldCons, late in his career and early in mine, and found him a most entertaining raconteur.
This is something of a career award, much like the Skylark that NESFA (the New England Science Fiction Society) bestowed on me a few years ago. So I would seem to have covered both coasts, here.
There's lots of fannish history embedded in this. I once remarked that the ultimate meaning of any award is created by the books that have won it; I'll have to amend that to, "by the books and people who have won it", because the list of prior winners is pretty darned impressive, and I am grateful to be added to it.
More information at the link and its links.
