Novel Status Update: It does not suck

So I actually had a rare evening to work on the novel tonight. This is not to say that I didn't have other work to do, it's just that I couldn't cope with the other work and I decided I deserved some time to work on a "me" project.

I would love to say, "well I got x number of words done" or "I wrote y chapters" but I actually just sat here and read through the first 6 chapters.

Would it have been nice to get some more new writing or rewriting done? For sure. But I changed a few plot points and a

I can't tell. . .

I can't tell if I am just surrounded by really annoying people or if I am just intolerant/impatient.

I can't tell if you are monopolizing the conversation with talk of yourself or if I just think you are because you aren't letting me talk about myself.

I can't tell if I talk about myself too much.

I can't tell if the reason no one else has told you off is because they are scared to or if it's because they don't think you are as big of a bitch as I do.

I can't tell if my husband is too giving or i

My bank is giving me an identity crisis

Whenever I go to my bank it says,

"Welcome, Hillary!" Then, under this is a link that says, "Not Hillary? Click here."

Now. . . I am Hillary. I think we can all agree on this. But when I get to this page, I have to click the "Not Hillary" link.

This is giving me something of a complex. I am Hillary, damn it!

The problem is that I have two accounts. These accounts are different types, different usernames, different everything but they insist on using the main account administration as the "Hello" p

Inspiring the next generation of writers. . . to commit manslaughter

My 13 year old cousin is a budding writer and we were talking shop one day when she mused, "I am totally stuck in this one story. I don't know what should happen next."

"Kill someone," I said.

"Really?" she replied.

"Yeah," I said, "I read a book on writing once that recommended killing someone if you are stuck."

She looked down at the ground for a moment and then looked up and shyly asked, completely serious, "But. . . won't I go to jail?"

"In the story! Kill a character in the story!" I clarified

Inspirational Writing Quote of the Week

"It is never too late to be what you might have been." -George Elliot

Nothing puts a fire under me better than when I am helping an older person with publishing their book and they are racing to get all their ideas published because they are afraid they are going to die. I am all about the NaNoWriMo philosophy: why wait to write a book someday, make today that someday.

I don't want to be one of those people that puts off what they want in life until it's too late. I would to jump out there and d

Inspirational Writing Quote of the Week

"Opportunity dances with those who are already on the dance floor." -H. Jackson Brown Jr.

That is one thing I have always noticed. There is not one "overnight success" that didn't work their butts off for years to get there. Every thing you do has the opportunity to become something bigger and better but you have to do those little things to get there.
