Congratulations to the winners of my Birthday Book Giveaway!

Huge thanks to anyone who took the time to enter the book giveaway I was running in partnership with GoodReads! I was really pleased in how much interest there was in this contest so I definitely plan on hosting another giveaway in the future (maybe for Christmas?) so please let me know below what you'd like to see in a future giveaway so that I can make it better.

There were a total of 983 people who entered the contest which is a good 980 more people than I was expecting so, again, thanks f...

Some progress on the Mistress Novel

So I am desperately trying to finish my Mistress Novel in advance of NaNoWriMo so that I can start a fresh book for National Novel Writing Month which is why I am frantically writing on a Friday night before I go to socialize, sad as that is.

Anyway, I managed to eek out a few more words today bringing the total up to….

(Pretend the guy above is holding a Wii Remote instead of a TV remote because that is what I am going to go do.)

God that total seems so small and it feels like I have written s...

Cousin pride: adorable beyond all reason

I have only one first cousin but 90% of the time when I refer to "my cousins" on this blog I am referring to her two children which I guess, technically are second cousins or something. The older of those cousins is the writer I sometimes mention. The younger is not a writer (yet, at least) but is none the less, awesome in her own right.

So I was looking over my Facebook fan page and saw that the younger cousin had posted this:

hillary!!!people in my school dont belive that ur my cousin and...

Operation Stuff Together

Ok, so the operation is actually called Sh- Together but it's not classy to swear in blog titles and, besides, I think part of getting my sh-…stuff…uh…let's use shiz (like the university in Wicked!) together is swearing less so it's all good.

Sidebar: Why does that phrase not work without the expletive?

Anyway, there is this Garfield comic I have memorized for reasons I would prefer not to discuss that I cannot find to just post so I'll have to describe. Garfield is rooting through the fridge ...

OMG, my friend Grace is either totally psychic or FROM THE FUTURE!!

So my husband and I are obsessed with the LEGO games for the Wii and, when our obsession was new, I was telling my friend Grace about them in the conversation as follows:

Me: We have been playing a lot of the Lego Star Wars recently. Have you played any of the Lego games?
Grace: I've played Lego Harry Potter, it's awesome!
Me: There's a Lego Harry Potter? We have to get that, we only have Star Wars.
Grace: Wait, maybe it wasn't Lego Harry Potter. Maybe it was just a regular Harry Potter game.

Want a free copy of The Love of Three Oranges?

Maybe you want to preview a copy to see if your school or group can produce it or maybe you just are curious to see what it is like. Whatever your reason, you just want a copy without paying for it, I get it. :-)

Well a free copy is up for grabs right now at GoodReads. To enter, just follow this link and then click the big Enter To Win button. They are doing a drawing for it that ends on October 16th (my birthday, who'd a thunk it) so get your name in the hat now before it's too late.

If you...
