I really hope this isn't what I'm doing.
I feel like there is a difference between wanting to put your best foot forward and having the best version of the story possible together before you send it out and being obsessive for the sake of delaying rejection.

My mother shows her love by giving me food
My mother has this weird correlation between love and food. Any conversation about stress usually ends in an invitation to dinner. Weirdly, when my mother fights with my brother, this also ends in an invitation to a meal for me (I assume because I start to look like a better child in comparison). But it has reached a bit of a silly point where I have to keep reminder her that I don't need to be given food every time anything doesn't work out perfectly.

A change in strategy: my novel and I now have an open marriage
Long time readers (and real life friends) know that I have been working on a novel for so long that I usually just refer to it as, The Novel, and people know what I mean. I want to finish it. I have been working on it for far too long. It is also my epic masterpiece work so I am spending ages perfecting it. I am still very committed to finishing it but I decided to try a different strategy for a while.
