Currently reading – The Stone Angel, by Margaret Laurence. Born in 1926, Laurence was a Canadian novelist and a prominent figure in Canadian literature. This novel is about a ninety-year-old woman reflecting on her life. Laurence died in 1987.

Currently reading – The Book of Salt, by Monique Truong. Truong is a Vietnamese American writer born in 1968. This novel is about a Vietnamese cook who works for famous Modernist writer Gertrude Stein and her lover, Alice B. Toklas.

Currently reading – Labyrinths by Jorge Luis Borges. Born in 1899, Borges was an Argentine writer best well known for his mythical, mind blowing short stories. I read this book before, about fifteen years ago, but I decided to read it again. Borges died in 1986.

Currently reading – Three Lives by Gertrude Stein. Born in Pittsburgh in 1874, Stein was a Modernist poet, playwright, and novelist who spent most of her life in France with her partner, Alice B. Toklas. A big influence on Hemingway, she died in 1946.

Currently reading – The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro. Sir Kazuo Ishiguro is a British writer and winner of the Nobel Prize. Born in Japan in 1954, he moved to The U.K. when he was five. This novel is a sort of fairytale.
