Peace in America
The 2016 election is over!
But, many are still trying to understand why Donald Trump won.
Everyone is offering same explanations.
Franklin Graham gave this explanation:
“Prayer groups were started. Families prayed. Churches prayed. Then Christians went to the polls, and God showed up.”

According to The Hill, Minnesota Republican Michele Bachmann said on “Right Wing Watch News” that the GOP nominee’s victory was “proof positive of what the Lord did.” http://www.newsiosity.com/articles/politics/bachmann-calls-trump%E2s-win-%E2what-lord-did%E2
I believe too, that God gave America a second chance.
The day after election we have heard the most unifying messages from President-Elect Donald Trump, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and President Barack Obama.
But soon after that everything changed.
Several universities and colleges including Harvard, Columbia, Yale, American University, offered counseling to their students for “distress from election”.
Professors postponed exams, and even gave away play-dough to cope with the “emotional distress.” At Tufts University, leaders even offered therapy dogs to comfort Clinton fans. http://www.weeklystandard.com/schools-offer-counseling-professors-postpone-exams-after-trump-win/article/2005314
Next, thousands of angry young people took over the streets in major cities, burning flags, looting, vandalizing property, and setting things on fire.
At American University, Old Glory went up in flames.
Critics believe that universities are not doing those “kids” any favors; questioning those students’ ability to cope with real basic world situations like : being fired from a job, divorced, dog or mom dies, losing a child, best friend dies, car get stolen, house burns down, or getting seriously injured, etc.
Others argue that those students cry, destroy things or are violent hoping to intimidate us.
Some, consider that for too long we accepted universities and colleges to offer students pity parties instead of teaching them the way to maturity and training them for leadership.
Instead of maturing for adulthood they are busy throwing tantrums.
Many argue that those students have accepted or created, and now are living in an artificial, dangerous, and destructive “politically correct environment.” An environment where if a person offends, opposes or wins against them, they have the right to hurt or destroy that person. Or an environment where as soon as their fear starts the rights of others end; where if they don’t get their own way, they cry and riot!
Bill O’Reilly believes those young protestors are manipulated by others. He had some strong words for left-wing “agitators” who refuse to accept Donald J. Trump’s victory in a fair and honest election. http://bit.ly/2enctxV
If we agree or not with those critics or young protestors, we all can surely agree that no hope, big fear or no peace are very often part of their conversations or arguments.
While their lost of hope and peace are viewed by many coming from different sources or reasons, it reminds us that their problems are first spiritual problems.
Confused, crying, rebelling those young protestors are looking for peace. As their presidential candidate lost this election, they lost their peace too.
From the beginning their peace was misplaced. Their hope or peace as ours should not be in a presidential candidate or a person but in the only one who can settle the unrest in our lives and communities — the Prince of Peace – Jesus Christ.
Faith in him keeps us from loosing hope, peace, and helps us resist fear.
“In the Lord I take refuge, How can you say to me: ” Flee like a bird to your mountain.” Psalm 11:1
Knowing that Christ is in control of all our circumstances we can have peace, and wisely accept or deal with those new tests or circumstances.
We all are tested in life. For some, those tests become a refining fire, while for others, they become an incinerator of destruction. None of us should ignore or defry the tests and challanges that come our way. But use them as opportunities to grow.
Moreover, with Christ we are more than conquerors in all of them. ” In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” – Romans 8:37
Is Christ the source of your peace?
How do you help those young protestors to find the peace they need ?
Yes, God gave America and all of us a second chance.
But, why a second chance?
So, we might bring His peace to others.
This is our time to reach out to those young protestors to help them know the Prince of Peace who will take away their fears too.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Save America from Socialism!
Socialism is Against Gold, Guns, and God

Twenty-eight years ago, I was a political refugee exiled from communist Romania to freedom in America. But today, America is in need of freedom. Socialism is spreading in America like a horrible sickness. It is time for those of us who experienced socialism to speak up and for the American people to understand before is too late.
Socialism is a false ideology and is contrary to the American capitalism system. American capitalism promotes free-market and individual freedom, while the Socialist system replaces the free market with government control and eradicates private property, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, religious rights, and national self-determination.
Romania was once a rich capitalist country, with a free-market economy, good health care, and a great school system. Bucharest, the capital, was called “Little Paris.” But soon after Nicolae Ceausescu was elected president in 1965, everything changed.
Socialism is against our wealth. It confiscates private property, distributes its citizens’ wealth, destroying productivity and individual self-worth. In the name of promoting “fair share,” “justice,” and “equality,” socialism turns most of its people equally into poor people, while the elite leaders enjoy a lavish lifestyle.
Ceausescu governed Romania with an iron fist. He nationalized big areas of our economy, eliminating the free-market economy with new laws that suffocated many corporations. Government-controlled businesses had to abide by the government’s request, rules, and regulations and had to produce low-quality products that we, the customers, were forced to buy at a price established by the government.
In short, Ceausescu ruined our economy. We experienced the end of competition and choices.
Under Ceausescu’s strict Socialist control system, Romania quickly experienced a drastic shortage of food, fuel, energy, medicine, and all the other necessities. Soon many stores had empty shelves, or next to nothing. Many times people formed long lines waiting for hours in front of the empty stores, hoping the stores would be replenished soon. When the stores did have something on the shelves, the purchase process was frustrating and time-consuming.
Socialism will do the same to America !
Ceausescu turned our schools into a state-owned system. The teacher’s role was to indoctrinate the students in socialist ideology and report parents who dared to complain. Parents had no voice in their kids’ education. Parent-teacher relationships were gone, replaced with total government control.
Even now in America, our kids and college students are thought lies about socialism and forced to accept them.
Presented as a “humanitarian program,” our health care system was changed into a national health care system. The patient-doctor relationship vanished, as did the freedom to chose your own doctor. The government ran hospitals, and medications were rationed.
Obama care is ruining our health and limits our choices for doctors and hospitals. Time to change it before is too late.
Socialism is against our guns. Again citing a “humanitarian” purpose (too many people or kids killed or hurt by guns), the Socialists in power immediately established gun control in Romania. A special police system called the Securitate controlled and silenced everyone, including the media. The Securitate was the dictator’s elite special forces, his loyalists, and a very privileged and powerful group. They were his eyes and ears and above the law. Any honest question or skepticism would be considered an anti-government statement, punishable by everything from loss of employment to execution.
So we lived in a constant state of anxiety and mistrust, where one could be denounced for anti-government statements by anyone: a neighbor, a classmate, even a family member. The only way to avoid punishment (usually jail or death) was to remain silent or blend in.
No free election was held in Romania during Ceaususcu’s reign. Dissidents were killed, exiled, or put under house arrest. I was declared a dissident, as I defended freedom in Romania.
America will be destroyed by Socialism; as government and media will control even more our lives.
Finally, socialism is against our God. According to the socialism system, there is no God and therefore no Bible. God was replaced with our socialist leader, the Bible with the Communist Manifesto. There was no sin; there were no morals or virtues with eternal values. Whatever advanced the Socialist philosophy was deemed and declared morally right.
By the time I graduated from a law school in Bucharest and was licensed as an attorney, Ceausescu had declared himself god, starting to jail Christians for having Bibles in their homes or going to church, and began to demolish churches in order to make room for his palace.
During my legal struggles as an attorney to stop Ceausescu and protect churches and Christians, many of my cases were the subject of broadcasts on Radio Free Europe and Voice of America. They were part of U.S. State Department reports and United Nations reports on human and religious rights violations in Ceausescu’s Romania. Because my work was considered “dissident activity,” the Securitate sought to silence me by intimidation, house arrest, interrogation, and daily searches of my home and office. They even threatened to kill my family and me.
But by the grace of God, I am here, alive!
Those of us who have experienced Socialism and believe in freedom would rather die on our feet than live under any dictator’s lies and chains.
America’s future is on the line on this November 2016 election. Now is the time to speak up, stand up and act (vote) for freedom and free market – Vote for Donald Trump to save America!

And then I shared it with the man the government sent to kill me.

Like most people, I was born with a hunger for truth and freedom. Unfortunately, I was born in Communist Romania under the brutal totalitarian regime of Nicolae Ceausescu. Ceausescu’s Romania was a land of lies, where simply questioning a government directive could lead to imprisonment, physical torture, and—in some cases—death.
Needless to say, we lived in a constant state of anxiety and mistrust. Anyone could arbitrarily denounce a neighbor, classmate, or family member for making “anti-government” statements. The government even had spies planted in the churches. The best way to avoid trouble was to remain silent, question nothing, and try to blend in.
For years, I watched my parents and relatives play the part of “good citizens” while privately whispering their contempt for the government. I wondered, Why do people always speak in whispers? Why are they so afraid to speak the truth?
‘Do you go to church?’
The more fear battered those around me into silence, the more obsessed I became with finding the truth. After graduation, I went to law school and became an attorney. But my job—assigned by the government—consisted of little more than rubber-stamping newly-created communist rules and regulations. It was demoralizing.
One evening a client came in to discuss some paperwork related to a property settlement. We had been meeting for months now, and frankly, I was exhausted. But this particular client never seemed to get discouraged. He always smiled, and he had a sense of contentment unlike anything I had ever seen. It was as though he were somehow oblivious to all of the misery that surrounded him. He radiated joy and peace, and for some reason, it troubled me.
Without thinking, I confessed, “I wish I had what you have in your life. I wish I had your sense of peace and happiness.”
“Do you go to church?” he asked.
“Yes,” I replied. “On Christmas and Easter. Why?”
“Would you like to come with me to my church this Sunday?”
My first instinct was to decline. After all, the communist government was notoriously anti-church. Under Ceausescu’s rule, Christians were frequently arrested, beaten, and imprisoned. Church buildings were bulldozed, their land confiscated to make room for Ceausescu’s palace. Anyone who questioned his anti-God stance was either thrown in jail or “disappeared.” For all I knew, this could be a trick to test my loyalty. I paused briefly to consider my next move. Then I saw once again that look of peace and contentment. I wanted that—so much so that I decided it was worth the risk.
The next Sunday I visited his church. As soon as the choir finished the opening song, the pastor read John 14:6—“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” I could not believe what I heard. Someone was claiming to be the truth?
As the pastor continued to describe the truth of Jesus Christ, I felt as though the verses he shared were written specifically for me. Looking across the aisle, I saw my client. He smiled, nodded, and gently patted his Bible as if to say, “Now do you understand?”
I did. Without realizing it, I was beaming back at him. For the first time in my life, everything made sense. I had spent years searching for the truth, but I had been looking in the wrong places—law school, the government, the justice system. I suddenly realized that truth was something that came not from law books, but from God himself: the Creator of the universe—my Creator, the source of all life, peace, and happiness.
Barely able to contain my excitement, I accepted the pastor’s invitation to trust in Christ as Lord and Savior. From that moment on, I would dedicate my life to pursuing and speaking the truth, no matter the cost.
My Greatest Test
Shortly after I was baptized, I began defending fellow Christians facing imprisonment for transporting Bibles across the Romanian border, sharing their faith, or worshiping privately in their own homes.
This quickly made me a target. Many days I awoke to find my tires slashed. Clients and friends—even my children—were threatened. My daughters and I were held under house arrest for almost a month. I was kidnapped, bullied, pushed into moving traffic, and beaten by the secret police. For their own protection, friends and coworkers began keeping their distance. My faith was tested daily. My greatest test, however, was yet to come.
Late at night, after a long day in court, Miruna, my legal assistant, peeked into my doorway: “A big man in the waiting room says he wants to discuss a case.” She shrugged. “That’s all he will tell me.”
I was taken aback at how enormous he was. As he sat down in front of my desk, his eyes seemed to bore a hole straight through me, and a sneer formed at the corner of his mouth. Slowly, he pulled back his coat and reached into a shoulder holster, withdrawing a gun.
“You have failed to heed the warnings you’ve been given,” he said, aiming at me. “I’ve come here to finish the matter once and for all.” He flexed his fingers, and I heard a distinctive click.
“I am here to kill you.”
My hands shook. Fight-or-flight instincts pinged in my brain. My chin trembled. An image flashed through my mind: my assistant arriving in the morning and finding my lifeless body on the office floor.
I was alone with my killer. And yet, I was not. I began silent, fervent prayers, recalling God’s promises. His Spirit breathed peace into my panicked heart. Then I sensed his message: Share the gospel.
I considered the man before me. Behind those hate-filled eyes was a creation of God. He had an immortal soul, and he needed to know about the love God has shown in Jesus Christ. At once emboldened, I met my killer’s eyes. “Have you ever asked yourself: ‘Why do I exist?’ or ‘Why am I here?’ or ‘What is the meaning of my life?’ I once asked myself those questions.” My voice stayed calm and did not waver.
He slid his gun back into the holster. I leaned forward. “You are here because God put you here, and he has put you to a test. Will you abide in God or in the will of a man—your boss, President Ceausescu, who requires you to worship him? God has given you free will to choose.”
His eyes softened. My heart thumped even faster, and my confidence rose.
“The truth is that we have all been corrupted and gone away from God.” He nodded. “We all are sinners, and our sin has determined our future. Hebrews 9:27 says, ‘People are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.’ ”
His mouth fell slightly open, and his hands relaxed.
“But the good news is that God has prepared a way out for every one of us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross: ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ ”
As I continued to talk with him, he appeared smaller and more peaceful.
Finally, he brought his hand to his forehead and said, “You are right. The people who sent me here are crazy. I do need Christ.” He promised, “I will come to your church as a secret brother in Christ. I will worship your powerful God.”
And with that, my killer walked away saved—a brother in Christ. He went on to enroll in seminary, and we have even kept in touch. He, like me, had found the Truth. And neither of us will be afraid to speak it ever again.

I just finished reading “Saving My Assassin” by Virginia Prodan, and I’m awestruck. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1496411838
YOU GUYS… I couldn’t put it down! Seriously, this is one of the best memoirs I have read in ages, and it struck so close to home, since I could hear my own parents’ story of persecution under the Communist regime in Romania as I read Virginia’s words.
I’ve promised myself since I was a little girl that I would write their story, and hopefully some day I will, but until then, you’ve got to get your hands on this book.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting the writing to be very good since it’s written in her second language (and I’ve read my fair share of foreign memoirs that have left me feel meh), but the storytelling was gripping, the character development was rich, and the suspense was thrilling.
But most of all, this book led me to deeper worship of a God who knows all and sees all and still works miracles today.

I am in awe of your story and the presence of God’s hand in your life.
There are two reasons why your story touched me to the core of my being:
1. My husband, Uwe, grew up in an orphanage in West Germany and was separated from his brother who grew up in Communist East Germany. We were able to meet his brother for the first time in 1990 when the Wall opened.
2. My sister and her husband (Bob was an officer in the US Army) were stationed in Germany for a time and during that time Lois flew to Bucharest to adopt a “Ceausescu baby” (my own term) from one of the orphanages. After I heard you on the radio, I asked her if she had heard of you or your book. She bought it immediately and couldn’t put it down. She and her family live in San Antonio and I hope she will be able to hear you speak in person some day.

Mustang Olympians !
Mustang Olympians !
As an SMU Law School graduate, I am very proud to announce !
Nine SMU Mustangs participated in the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, earlier this month!
Among them, six swimmers, one track athlete, a martial artist and a coach made everyone SO proud during the games in South America.

Those students, who proudly represented the U.S.A., originally from Bermuda, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Croatia and Sweden, are not only changing the world – in the pool, on the track and on the mat, but also in the SMU classroom and after graduation around the world. Way to go!!!
