Are You Free in America?

In preparation for my new book  I had done some research.   Among other questions, I asked many people this question:  “Are You Free in America? ”     Many responded immediately: “We live in a free country, America !”     I know, I heard that before!   But, as Americans – how free are we?   What exactly does “freedom” means to us?

The Oxford dictionary defines freedom as: “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.”

Over the years we revised and revised again our definition of freedom.  Tomorrow we might have another definition.  Now several people consider freedom as simple as :  “Don’t fence me in!” or  “I did it my way” or  “Just do it.”

 

The question is “ where do we find the universal definition of freedom?”

The great new is – God had provided the universal definition of freedom, the true freedom. God gave his universal definition of true freedom to the first humans he created, Adam and Eve.   He told them : ”You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat”  Gen. 2:16-17.

I can hear your reaction: “How is that freedom?”

Freedom with limitations is not freedom at all to many of us.

But, let me introduce you to Martin Luther.     The Reformer, put it into prospective for us as, the definition of freedom in his 1520 treatise, On Christian Liberty – also known as the Freedom of a Christian  :   “A Christian man is the most free lord of all, and subject to none; a Christian man is the most dutiful servant of all, and subject to everyone.”

Yes, we were created to be: the most free lord of all; the subject to none; and the most dutiful servants of all!

Take a minute and think.   That is our true freedom.

Now, let me point you to John Howard Yoder, the theologian, who described the true freedom in The Politics of Jesus, as

“our freedom is not insisting on one’s own rights, but in freely giving them up by being a servant to Jesus Christ first and the people of God second.”

Still not sure?

I have a question for you :

When do you think were Adam and Eve most free?

In the Garden of Eden, as they had “limited freedom” to eat of all the trees except one?

Or after gaining so called their “full freedom” to wanter around and eat whatever they wanted?

Apostle Paul testified so clearly that his true freedom was found in giving up his rights to God : “For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might win more of them” 1 Corinthians 9:19.

Only as we understand and accept that our true freedom is found in God,  we can experience that true freedom.    People say  “Real freedom lies in the wilderness, not in our civilization.”    Others asked:   ”Why do we need freedom?”   My simple answer is: “we need freedom to be what we were created to be.”

In Christ, God already gave us the true freedom. “You will know the truth and the truth shall set you free” John 8:32 .

I   WAS   SET   FREE !

What about you?   You can be set free too.    

Simple – you must accept Christ’s death on the cross for your sins.

But, unlike salvation that is free in Christ, the true freedom is a process.   It requires our work to exercise our true freedom daily.    We have to experience true freedom, and let it grow in our lives daily.   God and we are coworkers in this process.

Still, for many of us the true freedom in God sounds like a paradox.

Why?

Because we have a strong tendency to control everything in our lives.   It is hard for us to give up control even when we recognized that is for our good.    Fear and past hurts are blocking us from experiencing the true freedom.

We are good actors.    We are not comfortable with our so called “full freedom” but we keep pretending we are.   Unfortunately, we wait and hope to discover another way to find our true freedom.    We are paralyzed, afraid of the unknown or the new horizons.    And, we settle for less.

But, the good news is that we can let go of control or fear.

William Faulkner was right: “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”

Trust God and embrace his true freedom in Christ for you!

I assure you that what awaits ahead of you with God is amazingly greater than anything you can think or imagine.   This adventure with God in your true freedom – is like nothing you have ever experienced before.   Your true freedom is just a prayer away. Have the courage to trust God with his true freedom.    He created you, loves you unconditionally, and wants the best for you.

We want President Trump and his administration to defend our freedom.  

But, a Free America can be rebuild only by Free People!

You  – Can Be Free indeed with God!     Next, Your true freedom will Rebuild a Free America !

Stop Complaining ! Find Solutions ! Be Victorious !

Everyone wants a Victorious Life!

But, how many of us are experiencing that?    Have you noticed that we have become a society too quick to complain?   We all do it at least occasionally, but do we really need to?

Last week at our monthly breakfast, as friends, we shared among us many happy or sad  times or events of last year. Few shared some hard times they are experiencing now in 2017.  Suddenly, we agreed that hard times often taught us the most precious lessons in life.

Have you ever heard someone saying something you knew very well, but still so profound that forced you to stop and think again?

I certainly have.

“Well, surely that should make us embrace those hard times and not complain so often.” I contemplated.   But, have you noticed that we have become a society too quick to complain?     We all do it at least occasionally, but do we really need to?

“I had no shoes and complained, until I met a man who had no feet.” – Indian proverb

Life is beautiful and precious but not perfect. It never has been and never will be. This is not bad or hush news but the reality.

“You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.” —Tom Wilson.

Just look around you and hear how loud and often we complain.  We complain about the weather, the traffic, about our jobs or our lack of jobs.  Or about our tight clothing, misplaced keys, late airplanes, and the price of gasoline. We complain about crying babies, ungrateful teenagers, nosy neighbors, crazy drivers, lazy coworkers, or our government.

Without noticing complaining creates a victim mentality in us. We focus on us or on the negative – not the solutions or the lesson to be learned.  Complaining robs us of the joys of life, destroys our gratitude and even create an “energy drain”.   Complaining is contagious and damaging to all of us.

But to let go of complaining is indeed a hard process.

Only when we stop complaining and focus on the solution or the lesson to be learned, we finally become victorious in life!  We all can try stop complaining at least for 24 hours and see how life changes for us and around us.

I had tried the 24 hours experiment and here are few encouraging ideas that had helped me in this process to become victorious in life.

Encourage instead of complaining!

When Complaining  –  I look for faults!

When I stopped complaining  – I look for solutions!

When life does not meet my expectations, I count my blessings!

Counting my blessings, I had learned in:

Difficult Time – To Seek God

Joyful Time – To Praise God

Quiet Time – To Worship God

Painful Time – To Trust God

Waiting Time – To Hear God

Stormy Time – To Walk with God on Water

At All Times – To Thank God

“Today, Governor Greg Abbott will give his State of the State Address at the Texas Capitol. While Governor Abbott will no doubt address many important issues facing our state, one of the most important issues being discussed statewide is the Texas Privacy Act (SB 6).

SB 6 protects a common sense Texas value — men shouldn’t be allowed in restrooms or locker rooms with little girls. Please contact Governor Abbott and your State Senator today and tell them you support the Texas Privacy Act that will protect the privacy, safety and dignity of Texans in bathrooms, locker rooms, and other intimate facilities.

Governor Abbott has stood with the Texas people on this issue before when he supported Houston voters voting down a dangerous bathroom ordinance that would have allowed men into women’s bathrooms, 61% – 39%. Now with the opportunity to pass SB 6 and protect every woman and child in Texas, tell Governor Abbott you boldly support the Texas Privacy Act.

Congress – YOU have a Problem !

President Trump had fulfilled so far several promises to the American people.  

President Trump  consistently has been declaring that the Obama care must be repealed and replaced more or less at the same time.

“The Congress can’t get cold feet because the people will not let that happen,” President Trump.

But the Republican leaders are moving very slow.  It looks like some Republicans nervous about the potential political fallout of moving too fast on Obamacare repeal,  are now cautioning restraint.

Congress – YOU have a Problem !

Congress must deal fast and correctly with the Obamacare.

We must keep our representatives accountable and encourage them to do their job and promises.  Now, it is the right time to fulfill their years of campaign promises. No time to  betray those who have worked hard to provide Republicans congressional majorities and the Presidency.

The Heritage Action released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

“More than two weeks ago, congressional Republicans took an important first step toward delivering on a longstanding campaign priority: the repeal of Obamacare. That was only the first step though, and now they must move quickly to put Obamacare repeal on President Trump’s desk. Michael A. Needham continued :

“Congress cannot allow the timeline to continue to slip. Not only does it delay work on other legislative priorities, but millions of Americans are suffering from the harmful side effects of Obamacare. The Heritage Foundation’s American Perceptions Initiative found that 70 percent of Americans agree that

“The longer Congress waits to fulfill promises to repeal Obamacare, the less likely they are to be successful.”

Equally notable, 72 percent agreed that “If Congress wait to fulfill promises to repeal Obamacare, Americans who voted for them are going to take their promises less seriously.”

Please contact this week at least once a day your member of Congress and keep them accountable on their promises to repeal Obamacare.

Our Time Is Now!

The world is full of uncertainty and fear, and we must return to The Truth.

We need to remember who we really are – Americans and a Judeo – Christian nation.

Our Time Is Now!

God created us to be: Christ’s fragrance, the light of Christ and his instruments of change in our culture.  Unfortunately America is experiencing a divided and a complacence church.

According to American Bible Society – More than half of Americans think the Bible has too little influence on our culture.  They see America in moral decline, yet only one in five Americans read the Bible on a regular basis, according to this survey.

Moreover, young people seem to be moving away from the Bible.  Only 57 percent of those ages 18-28 read their Bibles less than three times a year, if at all.  Just 26 percent of Americans said they read their Bible on a regular basis – four or more times a week.

It is time for us in America to be in fire and alive for Christ again!  Because a divided nation needs strong Christians and a united church.

Our moment to change America in God’s power is Now!

In his grace, God gave us another chance on November 2016.  It is so hopeful to see America slowly changing from a culture of Death into a culture of Life!

Still there is so much work to be done!

We are still a very divided nation.

It is time for us to turn to God and to his guidance to accomplish our unity;

 

because God gave us clear directions about the role and/or the relationship between Christians and the government.

God’s established role for our government  is to protect us from all domestic and foreign enemies.

Every government that exists has been established by God. Romans 13:1–2 .

Those in authority are considered as “the servants of God” Rom. 13:4 and “God’s agents of justice ”. Romans 13:6 .

The Government is to act on behalf of the good of all people. Romans 13:4

Therefore, those who reject governmental authority reject God’s authority. Romans 13:2 Because even when the government does not perform its role, we are still asked to trust God and live up to our role.

The only exception provided for us is: when the government is asking us to disobey God,  we shall remain obedient to God, support the consequences of our actions, and in faithful confidence wait and see God protecting us.

On the other hand, God’s established role for Christians is to know Him,  study his world,  act on his word, and love everyone by point them to Christ as their Savior !

We as Christians are called to turned the other cheek. Matthew 5:39-42.  God never called a government to turn the other cheek but to protect its people.

We must not confuse those very specific and different roles!

Therefore every support should be given to our government to track down our domestic and foreign enemies and those who support them.  We cannot continue to be naive. Islamic terrorism is very real and western countries are its target.  We can and must faithfully fulfill our responsibilities as citizens both to our government and to God.  Philippians  3:20

God even established specific entry conditions for the Kingdom of Heaven – by repentance and accepting His son’s – Jesus Christ – sacrifice on the cross.

Following God’s directions we can protect and preserve America as a Judeo – Christian nation.

Therefore, only by following God’s directions all the political discordance and division that are even among us as Christians will stop.  Moreover, it will help and stop the discordance and division in the country.

God is calling us today to:

Know Him and Remember who we are! – JOHN 8:32

Value our Freedom in Christ and Act on it! – James 1:22

If we ignore God’s call, our next call might be to Die for Our Faith so others among us might be pointed to Christ.

Such suffering – persecution or martyrdom – is to be expected. John 15:18-21.

Do we hear God’s call ?

Our Time Is Now!

We can be the answer to Jesus’ prayer !  JOHN 17: 20-26

Our united actions in God’s power will protect and preserve America !

What an amazing call to all of us!

The bill, H.R. 7, co-sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Dan Lipinski (D-IL) was introduced on January 24, 2017.

During the debate, pro-life congressmen Smith focused on the humanity of pre-born children. “We treat them as tumors, warts to be exorcised.”

The U.S. House of Representatives voted 238 to 183 to permanently ban taxpayer funding of abortion

This legislation would also prohibit federal subsidies in the form of Obamacare tax credits for those ACA health plans that include abortion, and require full transparency of abortion coverage in Obamacare plans so that Americans who object to abortion can make informed decisions about their choice of healthcare plan.

This makes permanent the so-called Hyde Amendment permanent. Thus far the amendment, whch prohibits federal money from being used to fund abortions through Medicaid, has been subject to annual renewal.

Family Research Council (FRC) president Tony Perkins also urged the Senate to take up the bill and said, “Following an election in which voters chose a pro-life president and a pro-life Congress, our nation is moving toward a new era where all human beings, born and unborn, are protected under the law.”

“Abortion is not healthcare, and should not be funded since we know government funding of abortion increases it,” Perkins continued. “Passage of this bill is a victory not just for taxpayers but women, and their unborn children.”

The White House released a statement saying, “the Administration strongly supports H.R. 7…if the President were presented with H.R. 7 in its present form, he would sign the bill.”

Please call your Senators and Senator Majority Leader and ask them to do the same.

How You can Live Victoriously in this world !

Our world could be hostile, cold, dark, bitter or even frightening.  

But here is how you can live v ictoriously in this world.  

May you hear the caring, loving and quiet words of God’s wisdom preparing you to walk victoriously in this world.

    His wisdom is better than weapons of war.

From His temple He will hear you !    He will reach down to take hold of you.

May He protect you because you acknowledge Him.

    Because He lives, you also will live.

May He give you victory and help you look in triumph on your enemies.

    He will shot his arrows and scatter your enemies.

With great bolts of lightening he will route them!

He is your rock, your shield, your fortress and your deliverer.                            

He made you to rule in the mist of your hostile, cold, dark, bitter or even frightening world!

 

May you truly be His servant.

   He is with you.

He delights in you.

   He will provide a broad path for your feet.

May you live not die and proclaim what He has done for you.

  He is at your right hand.

   He is your God!   

 

May He give you long life and show you His salvation.   May He cause you and your children to flourish.

  He is full of compassion to you.

He blesses you as you fear Him.

May you live The Victorious Life designed for you by The Creator of Life.

 He made you great.    He will turn your darkness into light.
