Family Research Council – FRC – Book Release Event with Virginia Prodan, author of Saving My Assassin

Family Research Council – FRC – EVENT

Book Release Event with Virginia Prodan, author of Saving My Assassin

As a young attorney, Virginia Prodan searched for the truth. When she finally found it in the most forbidden book in all of Romania, she accepted the divine call to defend fellow followers of Jesus Christ against unjust persecution in an ungodly land. For this act of treason, Virginia was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, and placed under house arrest, even coming within seconds of being executed under the orders of Ceausescu himself. How Virginia not only managed to defeat her enemies time and time again but also help expose the appalling secret that would lead to the demise of Ceausescu’s empire is an extraordinary story of human courage, one woman’s search for truth, and her defiance in the face of evil.

On Tuesday, June 7th at 10 a.m., author and international human rights attorney Virginia Prodan will speak about her experience as a human rights lawyer in Romania during the rise and rule of Communist Dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu. She will also comment on the disturbing parallels she sees regarding religious liberty in Romania during the ’80s and what is happening in America today.

This event will mark the official release of Virginia’s new book, Saving My Assassin (Tyndale House). Reading like a novel and filled with intrigue and surprises, Virginia’s book communicates well the spirit of her surroundings while she daily risked her life in Romania.

FRC President Tony Perkins wrote, “Virginia Prodan stood fearlessly against an oppressive communist regime and the lawless leadership of Nicolae Ceausescu. She chose to obey God rather than man and changed the course of history! Virginia mastered her fear of earthly consequences for the glory of God and now inspires her readers. Beyond inspiration, Saving My Assassin is a call to action: to live above fear — and to witness the miraculous. I believe this is the message for this generation of Believers, we must rise above the fear of man to see a miraculous move of God.”

Riveting and Courageous Story of Life as a Christian in Romania Under Ceausescu

Riveting and Courageous Story of Life as a Christian in Romania Under Ceausescu

5.0 out of 5 stars

By Pamela A. Ecrementon May 23, 2016

“As a member of this church, how would you respond if you were asked to make that choice? Would you remain with Christ or become a Communist? Would you judge or forgive your brothers and sisters if they betrayed Christ, Virginia? How would you prepare yourself for a day like that?”

Such were the questions posed to Virginia Prodan after she made the critical decision to accept Christ. These were asked of her by Constantin, pastor of a Christian church, under persecution during the brutal Communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania.

Her account is the heartbreaking and courageous true story of her life and the lives of many Christians during the evil empire of Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania that lasted nearly 20 years until his execution in 1989.

It unfolds in one suspenseful page after another of her newly released book, Saving My Assassin.

Epic. Emotional. Riveting. Inspiring. Exhilarating.

Epic. Emotional. Riveting. Inspiring. Exhilarating.

5 out of 5 starts review

By Chuck Tateon May 19, 2016

With my wife out of town and my kids at school, my day off presented the opportunity for me to get in an hour of reading before knocking out some miscellaneous projects. I was instantly captivated by “Saving My Assassin” and didn’t get up from the couch until it was time to pick up my kids from school several hours later. In fact, I finished by the next day. That’s how good this book is! To date, I have read eighteen books this year and “Saving My Assassin” is the first book that I absolutely could not put down!

My heart hurt while reading about Virginia Prodan’s childhood upbringing.

My heart raced while reading about her encounters with communist agents.

My heart swelled while reading about her courage in the courtroom.

My heart pounded while reading about her interrogations by assassins.

My heart expanded while reading about her genuine love for her enemies.

My heart rejoiced while reading about her unshakable faith and ultimate victory.

This epic story will feed your soul, fuel our faith, and flat-out fire you up to live what you believe.

A memoir worth reading – Everyone should dig into.

A memoir worth reading –  Everyone should dig into.

5.0 out of 5 stars – A Memoir Worth Reading

By Danion,  May 22, 2016

Saving My Assassin – http://www.amazon.com/dp/1496411838 – is Virginia Prodan’s story of working as a Christian attorney in Communist Romania and in America.

Growing up, Virginia endured extreme mistreatment from her mother, but this paled in comparison to the trials she would face as an adult.

When Virginia was young, she had a close encounter with the Securitate, Nicolae Ceausescu’s brutal Communist police officers, as she was entering a church. This experience left her fearful of the Communists, and she rarely returned to church after it.

Upon graduating high school, Virginia took and passed all of the necessary exams to enter law school. Facing many struggles, Virginia pressed on and managed to graduate and get a job learning under another attorney.

During this time, Virginia found faith in Christ and began to regularly attend church and read the Bible with her two young daughters at home.

After becoming a Christian, Virginia began to take on cases defending Christians who have been unfairly arrested by the Securitate.

Virginia won many cases, upsetting the Securitate and Ceausescu himself. Virginia is interrogated, beaten and ultimately, Ceausecu assigns a man to assassinate her.  As the title suggests, Virginia shares the gospel with her assassin and leads him to Christ. Her struggles did not end after that night, however.

Virginia faced many more months of persecution before she had a chance to escape it all.

Saving My Assassin is a story of resilience and deeply strengthened faith in Christ. Virginia faced evil head on at the hands of wicked men, and she relied fully on Christ to give her strength.

Regarding her struggles, Virginia writes:

I suppose none of us know how high we can jump until a skyscraper obstructs our way, how fast we can run until a lion chases us, the value of our freedom until confinement restricts our movements, or how precious hope is until someone shatters our dreams.

Saving My Assassin will encourage Christians to keep growing in Christ, and to rely on Him through every trial and triumph. Virginia endured unrelenting evil, yet she clung to Christ in the midst of it all.

This is a memoir everyone should dig into.   Saving My Assassinhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/1496411838

One of the most gripping testimonies I have ever read.

One of the most gripping testimonies I have ever read.

5 out of 5 Stars Review – Saving My Assassin

By Bumblebee on May 22, 2016

WOW!    What a powerful and inspiring testimony!

This book – Saving My Assassin – should be required reading for every person, teenager or Christian teenager in this country as an example of how God can use each of us to change the world we live in if we let Him.

Who knows how God will continue to use this amazing testimony in our own country as now Virginia fights for freedom and truth here.

The eternal consequences of her willingness to follow Jesus no matter what will be endless, I am sure.

Saving My Assassin – 5 stars review

Saving My Assassin – 5 stars review

I am honored to present to you Rebekah Love Dorris’s 5 stars review of my book Saving My Assassinhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/1496411838 :

“I suppose none of us know how high we can jump until a skyscraper obstructs our way…how fast we can run until a lion chases us…the value of our freedom until confinement restricts our movements…or how precious hope is until someone shatters our dreams.” – Virginia Prodan in Saving My Assassin – http://www.amazon.com/dp/1496411838

If Saving My Assassin were a suspense novel, it would be too farfetched to read.

As a true story, it’s electrifying.

From the time she was a little girl, Virginia Prodan understood the value of hope. As she watched her family drive away for vacation, leaving her to keep the house like an unloved ten-year-old Cinderella, she’d experienced enough broken dreams to make her either incurably bitter or inexplicably hopeful.

Thanks to the grace of God, Virginia became hopeful.

Even as she heard whispered tales of the secret police’s ruthless silencing of the truth, Virginia’s hope only grew. As she paced outside in the cold predawn Romanian street, tenaciously studying for school because her mother didn’t want her wasting electricity to study in the house, Virginia clung to hope – the hope that she could make a difference. Hope that her voice could be strong enough to speak the truth in a land where deceit ruled with an iron fist.

The true story of Virginia Prodan in Saving My Assassin is as hard to put down as any thriller.

While Mrs. Prodan’s memoir is superbly written – intriguing, clear, and uplifting – it’s the plot that caught me by the throat and refused to let go. To think that the true Author and Finisher of Mrs. Prodan’s story allowed His heroine to face such pain as a child, knowing the glorious ending He had for her, fills me with such hope.

To think that He allowed such darkness, knowing how much more welcome the light would be after the fall of the dictator Ceaușescu, reminds me that He is in control of every headline that fills me with dismay.

I was so thankful to receive this book free from Tyndale in return for my honest review. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a new author, but having read this book, I must say that it is a treasure that deserves an honored place on my *special* bookshelf next to Corrie ten Boom’s The Hiding Place and Richard Wurmbrand’s Tortured for Christ.

I honestly believe this book is the same caliber as those classics – written for such a time as this. May God bless this author, her would-be assassin, and all those whose lives were touched by this one woman who refused to say no to hope.

“…And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment…being destitute, afflicted, tormented…

Of whom the world was not worthy…”

from Hebrews 11″
