Why is Visual Tracking Important for Reading and Writing? We use visual tracking during reading and writing to help us determine our place.
Without proper visual tracking, we could skip lines and words, which could reduce reading comprehension.
Other signs of decreased visual tracking could include difficulty in catching or throwing a ball on target.
A Few Ways to Improve Visual Tracking Skills Practice catching and throwing balls of various sizes and shapes Practice kicking a stationary ball, then progress to kicking a moving ball Play tag to visually track a moving person Use a flashlight in a dark room to follow the light around the room to find different objects Obstacle courses where kids have to locate various objects along the way Use crossword puzzles or visual tracking worksheets like the ones below:Visual Tracking Letter Recognition Occupational Therapy *

How to Teach Your Kids What to do if They Get Lost
Would your kids know what to do if they got lost?
Please do not assume they would know what to do! Take THESE important steps!

*Posts may contain affiliate links.
What if your kids get lost?First, kids need to know they should not panic.
You need to make sure you teach your kids their full name, phone number, and address.
Another important step is teaching your kids YOUR full name. They may not even know your real name from calling you Mommy or Daddy since they were born.
A really fun way to teach kids what to do if they get lost is to read Liam Lion Lost at the Bloomsburg Fair. * (affiliate link for purchasing the book)
In the beginning of the story, Liam overheard Eric's mom telling him what to do at the fair in case he got lost.
Well, as it turned out, Eric was not the one who got lost. The little toy lion is the one who got lost!
Liam's adventure can be a great way to teach your kids what to do in case they get lost!
There is a very important lesson inside the book you do not want to miss teaching to your kids!
The illustrations are beautifully done by my teen daughter, Janelle!
She also created this awesome coloring page just for your kids! Stay up to date with our free eBook promotions and get a free coloring page here:

Favorite Childhood BooksThe Berenstain Bears Books have always been my favorite books to read.
When I was in elementary school, I would frequently check them out from the school library.
While growing up, I didn't get a chance to own too many of the books.
The two that I was able to purchase from school book fairs were:
The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Birthday *affiliate link
The Berenstain Bears Trouble with Friends *affiliate link
I loved the books and read them over and over again.
I never even realized that there were good valuable life lessons in the books!
They were fun to read and that's all that mattered to me.
It's interesting that I decided to publish my own children's books which sort of remind me of the lessons learned in the Berenstain Bear books.
From sharing, to giving, to helping others, there are so many great lessons in the Berenstain Bear books that kids love to read!
Who wouldn't love reading about bears?
So it's easy to sneak in the life lessons while kids are enjoying reading about their favorite characters.
Did you read The Berenstain Bears when you were younger?
Have you read them to your kids?
Did you know you can get awesome used or new copies of The Berenstain Bears as well as other great books?
Check out Better World Books * to stock up on great books that will get your kids reading and learning good lessons along the way!
While you're there, shop for some books for yourself too!

Power Outage Hacks
With technology seemingly ruling our lives these days, what are some hacks we can use to prepare for a power outage?
Will you be prepared when you or your kids can't get on their electronics?
Or, do you need some ideas to get them off of their electronics for a while?

What to do when bored at homeRemember the good old days when your family would get out the candles and some playing cards and wait for the power to come back on?
Those days seem to have gone away.
We lost power at my house the other day and my kids almost had a meltdown.
They both rely on their laptops to create YouTube videos.*
They were pretty much lost without their electronics.
Since it was hot in the house without the air conditioner, we went outside on the porch.
I began to tell a campfire story with our little Dorcy Lantern* for light. We have had this little light for years and it works great! We even used it as a nightlight while the power was still out.
My mom taught me how to tell campfire stories.
When we went camping, we would sit around the campfire and someone would begin a story.
Then, the story starter would pick another person to continue with the story.
So in my case, I started the story and turned to my older daughter and said, "Janiece's turn!"
Since she is a teenager and we haven't done a campfire story in years, she was caught off guard when I tagged her to continue the story.
It didn't take her long to add to my story and then tag her younger sister, Janelle.
Janelle needed a little encouragement to continue the story but quickly thought of ideas and tagged me to finish the story.
It was so much fun!
Did you know that telling campfire stories is how ,The Underground Toy Society Helps Ellie Elephant* came to be?
I had recently published The Underground Toy Society Helps Beary Bear* which is a story about Janelle losing her favorite teddy bear.
So naturally I had it in the back of my mind to write a story about Janiece's favorite toy, Ellie Elephant.
On one camping trip, the kids didn't want to take turns telling campfire stories, so I came up with the entire story of Ellie's adventure.
I wrote it down when we got home and the girls helped me with the illustrations.
Coming up with stories on the spot can be tough for some people, especially kids.
That's why I created some Roll-A-Story Dice Games.*
There are 36 different characters, 36 different conflicts, and 36 different settings in the set.
So anytime your kids are bored at home you can pull out your lantern and story dice and tell campfire stories!
It's so much fun and you will create family memories to last a lifetime!
Who knows, maybe you'll even publish some of your stories!
Let us know if you will write any campfire stories in the comments below!

How I Solved Our Toy Clutter Problem
Are you frustrated with your kids because they won't clean up their toys?
I know how you feel!
Keep reading to find out how I solved our toy clutter problem in a fun and easy way!

Affiliate link* for books that will inspire your kids to clean up! *Posts may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I may earn from qualifying purchases*
Memory of my FrustrationWhen my kids were small, I made a social media post about how frustrated I was with all the toy clutter in my home.
Some of my friends suggested toy rotation, but in a small house sometimes that is not an option.
Some recommended that I ask my kids to donate some toys, but my kids were so attached to their toys that they could barely part with any.
When I tried to hide some toys to see if they noticed they were missing, they'd always somehow realize that toy was gone and I'd end up giving it back.
What did I do to turn things around to save my sanity?
I wrote a book about how toys don't like to be left alone and uncared for all over the floor!
If they toys felt unloved, they would leave and find help at The Underground Toy Society where lost, lonely, and forgotten toys go to find new homes.
After I wrote the book and read it to my two daughters, they began to realize that their toys wanted to be loved and not forgotten.
The story inspired them to donate a few of their toys to kids who did not have as many.
They started to clean up a lot better once they realized their toys might leave in hopes of a better home where they wouldn't be thrown all over the floor and forgotten!
