Book Banter EP 58: Dr. David J Gibson

Hello My Happy People,

In today's episode, I get to chat with Dr. David J Gibson. He is a professor of botany at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and holds a PhD in Plant Biology and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB).

David has spent years doing field research in botany and has written a number of articles and books, mostly focusing grasslands and ecology. However, his most recent work focuses on the forensic study of plants as a means to murder and an aid in investigating crimes in fiction and actual criminal cases.

I got to talk to David about his new book, ,Planting Clues: How Plants Solve Crimes, which is available now at booksellers. He is an incredible wealth of knowledge about forensic botany and where to find a decent pint in Illinois.

Friday Funnies: Tech Support & Tears!

Hello My Happy People,

This will be a very short blog today. I am so far behind. I have been having some fantastic interviews this week for my Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt podcast and I have more next week. I have updated my graphics for the podcast as well and have seen engagement going up daily and so of COURSE this is the time that my all professional email accounts would choose to go haywire.

It took 4 connections with various tech support entities, a lot of work from my IT architect husband (THANK YOU SWEETIE!), and a guess on my part for the right code I had to plug in to reconnect my domain MX file. No sooner had I hit save when an email came through again. You cannot imagine the level of frustration I have had the these last two weeks trying to fix this issue. Somehow my website was getting tagged as spam by Google. **sigh** Technology can be great and it can be SO frustrating!

Anyway, I don't know about you but I could use a few laughs so let's get to the jokes!!

Book Banter EP 57: Lance SA Nielsen part 2 of 2

Hello My Happy People!

In today's episode, I finish my chat with my good friend, Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen. Between the common jokes, we attempt to focus today's chat more on Lance's screenplays and theater work.

A bit about Lance, he was born in South Africa and adopted at a young age by an English mother and Danish father. Raised in Kingston-upon-Thames in the United Kingdom, it was here, according to his website, "... he spent much of his time engaged in designing fictional worlds for role-playing games, rolling dice, renting videos, going to the cinema and forgetting to tell his mother what time he would be home when he went out. While under the influence of many pints JRR Tolkien, he made his first attempts at writing a book series, The Prophecy of the Witch-King."

Since then, Lance has written many amazing works for stage, screen, and print. He chats about them all with Dianne in episodes 56 & 57, be sure to catch them both. I may do an extended version of his interviews over the holidays in our between seasons holiday break. Friday Funnies: Lost in Thought ...

Hello my happy people,

I hope the weather is getting warmer wherever you are. I am freezing my bits off here in Germany. I am about to the point where I would be shocked if I saw the sun again. I have been so busy lately, I'm worn out. I am behind on a few things, shocking ... I know. We have dinner out with friends tomorrow night and I have to get laundry done then too. I still have a lot to write on Family Ties to finish that up and I have three interviews coming up to prep for including reading some of their work, not to mention I want to write two more books this year after family ties and we are going to Italy next month so P.R. can become a Godfather again (that sounds more ominous that intended lol ) ... I feel tired just thinking about it all. So let's get to the jokes.

The best way to make holy water is to boil the hell out of it! A dung beetle walks into a bar and asks, ‘Is this stool taken?’ If you are ever in a fight with a bunch of clowns, go for the juggler. I heard the man who invented Velcro just died, may he R I P! The Earth's rotation really makes my day. Look, I'd like to be Frank with you, but to do that I’d have to change my name. Are people born with photographic memories, or does that take time to develop? Jokes about Communism aren’t funny unless everyone gets them. I love science ... Geology rocks, but Geography’s where it’s really at. My brother's bakery burned down last night, his business is toast now. A Latin magician tells the audience he will disappear on the count of three. He says, ‘Uno, dos…” and then he was gone! He disappeared without a tres.

Book Banter: Lance SA Nielsen Interview!

Hello My Happy People!Have I got a show for you today (and next Wednesday actually)! In today's episode, I get to chat with my good friend, Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen. I always look forward to chatting with Lance for several reasons. Besides the fact that he is multi-talented, working as an author, a playwright, an acting coach, and a director, but Lance really knows how to make me laugh too. We bonded over brain damage and memory loss and it tends to be a running joke with us. A bit about Lance, he was born in South Africa and adopted at a young age by an English mother and Danish father. Raised in Kingston-upon-Thames in the United Kingdom, it was here, according to his website, "... he spent much of his time engaged in designing fictional worlds for role-playing games, rolling dice, renting videos, going to the cinema and forgetting to tell his mother what time he would be home when he went out. While under the influence of many pints JRR Tolkien, he made his first attempts at writing a book series, The Prophecy of the Witch-King."

Since then, Lance has written many amazing works for stage, screen, and print. He chats about them all with Dianne in episodes 56 & 57, be sure to catch them both. We had so much fun and talked forever. I had to cut out so much just to fit our interview into two shows. I may do an extended version of his interviews over the holidays in our between seasons holiday break. Hello My Happy People!

Did you catch my interview on The Outcasts Creative YouTube Channel March 1st on their Industry Interview webshow? If not, you can still go and watch the recorded show on their channel. Host, Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen, interviewed me and bestselling, psychological thriller author, Val Collins. You might remember Val was a guest on my own podcast, Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt, last week. While you are there be sure to check out this week's guest visual storyteller/ artist Kirstie Page. Her work is amazing and it was a total delight to speak with her.

Lance will be a guest on my show later in March, episode 56 on March 8th and episode 57 on March 15th. He is so involved in creative arts, I had to break him up into two shows to really cover his work in a decent manor. He is primarily a playwright and director but also writes the sci-fi series Diamonds in the Sky. Two books are currently in print on Amazon with more to come.

Now, I still have loads of things to get done so I'm off to do them so I can have some time to still write on my books and have date night with the husband. We are ordering in and watching the Mandalorian because we are both huge Star Wars fans like that.

Today, I get to chat with my good friend, visual storyteller and mixed media artist, Kirstie Page. We chat about what it was like for Kirstie to go from being a virtually unknown artist with a dream of creating a business, to having her work in collections around the world and seeing her designs on everything from greeting cards to housewares.

Kirstie shares what it has been like to push her own comfort boundaries to begin attending art shows and sharing the hidden stories behind all of her creations with the public, face to face. I do want to let you know that I will be interviewed on a live stream on The Outcasts Creative channel on YouTube this Wednesday March 1st at 9 PM GMT (That is 3 PM Central Standard Time in the US) I will be joining best selling author Val Collins,who was just on my podcast Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt last Wednesday and is still streaming now.
