Friday Funnies: Spring Fever

Hello My Happy People,

I hope you all had a fabulous week and are looking forward to an even better weekend! With the weather slowly starting to climb up toward warmer temperatures, I thought some Spring jokes would be in order.

This week I had an amazing interview with psychological thriller author, Val Collins. Her new book, ,Dying to Tell, is on pre-order now and will be available February 28th. Be sure to check out the podcast by clicking the purple microphone below in all of my blogs to hear the latest episode. I got to read an advance copy and I give this 5 stars. Her characters are incredibly relatable and her world she has created is engaging. I honestly did not have the killer figured out until the reveal.

March 1st I will be joined by my friend visual storyteller/artist Kirstie Page of Remember When Art. We had so much fun chatting for this interview. We just jumped right in and forgot to introduce her to the audience until late in the interview, so I will be doing a bit of editing on our chat. It is a bad habit I have when interviewing personal friends.

After Kirstie, I have a two part interview with another good friend,

author, playwright, director, and jack of all trades, Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen. I am going to try to divide our interview into mostly his book information for his Diamonds in the Sky series in part one and his published scripts such as his new Paratrooper series in part two. He has a vast and varied career and there is a lot of fascinating information to cover.

I have been working on the website and getting D.S. Stephens' pages set up. More information will be coming later this year as we get her settled into Burckhardt Books and prepare to publish her first romance book. We did get a logo designed for her. Let us know what you think.

I have been trying to finish my own book, Into the West: Family Ties. I was all set to spend most of the day writing yesterday and ended up with a head injury that left me a little loopier than normal for most of the day. I went to clean the bathroom and bent over to grab a brush and ran my forehead into a water valve that has been sticking out of the bathroom wall in the same spot the entire 8 years we have lived here. I think the moral of this story is that it is just too dangerous for me to clean the bathroom so I need to leave that for someone else. I can dream.

Into the West: Family Ties will be the 7th and final book in the Into the West Saga Serial and I will move on to finishing me crime thriller The Touch which I will be publishing as Dianne Burckhardt. I am starting to add Burckhardt Books as a co-author on all of the titles coming out of Burckhardt Books so the entire catalog will be easier to find where ever books are sold.

I also spent some time this week updating all of your social media to be more SEO compliant. Now you can seach for @BurckhardtBooks on all social media to find all things from us. If you have a bookmarked you might need to update the link. To make it easier for everyone we have also created a Linkedtr.ee account. Find all our links at at My goal in life as an author is to one day make enough of a living at this that I can hire someone to all of this behind the scenes work for me so I can just write. Friday Funnies: Sports Funnies

Hello My Happy People,

I hope you are having a wonderful Friday and are looking forward to some great weather this weekend. I am very sleep deprived today so please forgive me if there are some typos in this post. My poor dog, Shaggy, gave me a very rude awakening at 5:45 this morning.

The batteries in a few of our smoke detectors decided to die at the same time this morning, causing them to chirp periodically. This sound always terrifies our dog, so he jumped on me for comfort. It took about an hour to get him to calm down after I gutted the smoke alarms to get them to stop making the noise.

After some cuddles, assurances the monsters were dead, and quick walk outside to sniff some plants (Shaggy not me), he finally calmed down but I could not get back to sleep. I have been a bit scatterbrained (more than my usual) since then.

I did some "just for fun" videos on TikTok and one book recommendation video just to try to wake up, did not help. Neither did the half a pot of coffee. I am not a nap person. If I fall asleep now, I will just be out for the count and then be up all night again. I will just drag it out until bedtime tonight and crash then.

Now on to a little bit of business. I just had an amazing interview with psychological thriller author, Val Collins last night. Her interview will be on next Wednesday's Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt podcast. I wish I could claim sleep deprivations last night, but I guess I will just have to go with Murphy's Law was in rare form!

After a wonderful interview, I went to turn off the recording so we could just have a bit of a private chat before saying goodbye ending the interview session. What actually happened was I clicked the wrong button and just ended up hanging up on Val.

I opened the room back up and waited a bit to see if she might log back on but she did not. I sent an email straight away to explain what happened and that I am never that intentionally rude to guest authors, but I got a error message back so I am not sure if she got the email at all ... which is odd because that was the same email we had used to go back and forth to set up the interview. It did show up in my sent folder so ... fingers crossed she got it and doesn't think I that rude.

Coming up in March we will have visual storyteller/artist Kirstie Page visiting Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt. She uses art to bring her hidden stories to life. Her work can be found for sale as original art pieces, prints, on greeting cards, housewares and is just incredible!

Following Kirstie, we will have a two part interview with my friend, one of the few men I know who has almost as many legal names as I do, author, screenwriter, director, playwrite, and man about town, Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen. In part one, we will talk about his sci-fi book series and in part two we will focus on his screenwriting and the scripts he has been publishing in book formats. I have enjoyed working with him on a few of his book cover layout.

As far as my own books, I have just finished another chapter in Family Ties, part seven of the Into the West Saga Serial. This is the final book in this serial. I have been working on research for my next book I will be writing as Dianne Burckhardt, The Touch.

Today is going to be a short and sweet blog. You can tell I am already late posting this, I have had a long day. I was up last night having a great interview with amazing women's fiction author, C. D 'Angelo. We had a great time chatting and I can't wait to share the next podcast with you.

Our current podcast with historical fiction/western author LeRoy A. Peters is our second highest downloaded show and the week isn't even over yet. His new book, The Hunter's Dawn: A Mountain Man Adventure (Saga of the Armstrong Brothers Mountain Man Series Book 4), was released on Amazon on Wednesday right after the podcast aired. Later in February, I will be interviewing my friend and incredible artist Kirstie Page. Kirstie is the creative force behind Remember When Art. Where most of my guests are traditional storytellers using words, Kirstie uses art to tell he stories.

Hello My Happy People,

Things have been so busy this week. I have finally started getting up and around here and getting back to normal daily activities. P.R. is still shadowing me and making sure I do not over do it (Who? Me?!).

I have been back at work finishing up the seventh and final book in the Into the West Saga Serial, Into the West: Family Ties. I just finished adding in a few chapters this week and have just about reached the halfway point on this book. It is finally flowing like the first books did. I was beginning to worry that would not happen, but thankfully it did. I am hoping to wrap this one up soon so I can focus on other projects we have planned. Later, we will be doing another historical fiction serial in another US territory.

I am also working on my research for the new thriller that is in progress, The Touch. As I started to get more into the actual police procedure descriptions, I realized my education was about 20 years old and decided I needed to check out the things that changed in that time.

I bought a bunch of reference books and am making notes. P.R. even bought me the Crime Classification Manual written by the team who created the Behavioral Science Unit for the FBI. These people developed the science/art of profiling. If this doesn't make my work accurate, nothing will.
