Friday Funnies: Dad Jokes Part 500 ...
Hello My Happy People!
I am finally starting to feel more like myself again. I still have a cough that is driving me crazy, but I feel so much better. My bruises are almost gone from the medical procedure I had last week too so life is good.
I have started doing some indepth research for my thriller, The Touch. I will be writing on Into the West: Family Ties later today and this weekend. I am laying out a cover for another friend's book, Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen (check out his work on Amazon). This will be the second cover I have done for him. The first was Pegasus Bridge.
I have also started interviews for season two of our podcast, Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt. We start off the new season with Australian bestselling romance author LM Wilson. Writing is a real family affair in her home. You should check out this interview!
This first podcast of season two just goes to prove how Murphy's Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong) keeps plaguing my existence. At the end of the last rebroadcast of our holiday break, I mentioned I planned to bring better sound quality in season two. So of course, the very first episode of season two we had sound issues!
There was something about our connection that was giving us feedback whenever Wilson would speak. We tried several things to get rid of it, but nothing worked. We think it might have been due to the kind of internet connection she uses. I'm trying to get rid of it in post, or at least make it less annoying, but it just figures this would happen. I tell you, Murphy hates me!
The interview was great though and we found out we have a LOT in common. It was so much fun and I know if we lived anywhere near each other, we would be meeting up for coffee and talking about books on a regular basis. She has a new book on pre-sale for a February 1st release. Check out A Vow to Break on Amazon (< click underlined text to go). I do have one change I am going to be making with my Manic Monday blogs going forward. Manic Mondays are changing from a regular blog to a vlog. I will be posting a video on TikTok on Mondays and I will share it here in a blog post so my regular followers can easily find them and just watch them on my site instead of searching TikTok. Manic Monday: Ready for Season 2!
Hello My Happy People,
I hope everything is going great with all of you. I am finally off of bed rest and hope to be getting some interviews in the can for season 2 of Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt starting tonight with author LM Wilson. You can check out her links listed below at the bottom of this blog.
I also have some plans for new TikTok videos, blog changes, and of course writing books. I am looking to publish two and maybe even three books this year. Considering I published exactly zero books last year I feel like I need to play a little catch up. Last year I was more focused on getting the podcast up and running, but now that it is all set, it's time to get back to focusing on my books.
In keeping with focusing on my books, I'm off to finish up a few things today so I can get to work this week on finishing up part seven, Into the West: Family Ties. The final book in the Into the West Saga Serial. I think it is best to finish this serial before I move on to finish my new thriller, The Touch.
I have more research I want to do before I write too much of The Touch. I want to make sure the story is correct as far as the techniques described in the police investigation and criminal profiling. While I actually have a degree in forensic criminology and specialized in profiling, it has been a good 20 years since I earned that degree and I have not worked in that field so I thought it was a good idea to do some research and brush up on those skills. New developments can happen fast at times in this field so I am sure there have been a lot of improvements since I graduated. I have really been enjoying the research.
The first video I have planned for TikTok is actually an unboxing video and sharing all the research books I bought for my thriller. I bought quite a few because my fantastic husband, P.R., actually matched what I was planning to spend so I could get a few technical manuals written by FBI profilers for forensic investigators. I was geeking out so hard about the books. I'm weird ... I own it!
I hope to have more information next week about the blog changes that are coming. I'm doing a bit of restructuring to free up more actual book writing time.

Friday Funnies: Happy 2023!
Hello My Happy People,
I'm sorry I missed the first few Friday Funnies of this year. I have been fighting a horrible lung infection and got over it enough just in time to have a heart catheter check up I had scheduled back in September. I'm feeling better but a bit beat up at the moment. They were only able to do half the exam through my wrist so they had to go in my leg too. I'm a tad bruised. From what I understand, I was having a lot of muscle spasms that were causing the problems.
The good news is my heart is in great shape. The bad news is, being in bed the past few weeks has really messed up my plans. Whenever I get a lot of grand ideas of all the things I plan to accomplish, Murphy always has to step up and say, "Nope, not happenin'!"
It doesn't stop me from continuing to try though. I want to schedule a few interviews in the coming weeks. The start of season two of Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt starts February 1st. I hope to be able to tell you about my plans for season two soon, because if they all come through ... they are going to be amazing! Cross your fingers!
For now, I'm still worn out, moving slowly, trying not to cough, and mostly sleeping. I'm supposed to be on bed rest until Sunday so I'm going to get right to the jokes so I can go back to sleep. Chat more with you soon!

Manic Monday: Murphy Hates Me!

Hello My Happy People,
I am sure at least some of you noticed that there was not a Friday Funnies blog last week. Well, there was a very good reason for that (not just me being lazy). We are having issues with our fuse box in the apartment again and this time the requests for an electrician went ignored until today. We have still not see an electrician and God only knows when we will see one in here, but at least we have hope that one will show up soon.
In the meantime, we are having to use a flashlight to navigate half of the apartment (which includes the kitchen, my office, and the bathroom) and we've had to move all the appliances, like the microwave and coffee maker, into the living room to be able use them. I guess that is the silver lining, some of the fuses still work.
After asking nicely, pleading, and then giving the landlord a formal request in writing with a copy being sent to our lawyer, we did finally get a day and time for an electrician to come to the apartment. Unfortunately, it was the exact day and time I am scheduled for a medical procedure I have been waiting to take care of since last September. I asked to put it off until after the holidays since it was not a life threatening issue at the time, but now it has to be done so of course that is the day and time the electrician chose.
I swear, I think I must have wronged Murphy in another life because it seems like his "law" pops up in my life an awful lot. I'm writing this blog on my old laptop because the desktop computer can't be used right now in my office. I may have to see about moving it to the bedroom tomorrow so I can upload my podcast. I may have to get creative to get that accomplished.
I will be in the hospital all day Wednesday so there will be no chance to do any work on my blog or podcast that day ... if I even get to come home that night. Odds are I will come home Wednesday night, but there is a chance I will have to stay one night in the hospital, something I do not want to do. I am not fond of hospitals (who is, right?), but add to it that I am in Germany and my German is not great. It is a huge fear of mine to have to be in a hospital where I cannot communicate well with the medical staff. Granted, most of the medical staff I have met at this hospital speak English better than I speak German, but the fear is still there.
I was worried that the respiratory infection I brought back from Amsterdam would postpone the procedure, but it looks like it cleared up enough just in time. Which is good, I want to get this over with.
So in the last few weeks, I have been sick in bed, the fuse box has been sparking and spreading fumes in the apartment again (even worse than when it did this in December) and I have been trying to get healthy enough to have this medical procedure done ... no stress here ...
So I think you can understand why I have missed a few Friday Funnies blogs. The last time I tried to use the desktop computer it started flashing and shut off a few times. I was worried it would get a surge and kill my computer. I would have a mental breakdown if that happened. That computer is backed up, but it has everything for all of my books, podcasts, and just everything I need to function on it. I take no chances with that computer!
So cross your fingers that I can either move the desktop in the bedroom or can do the podcast set up from this laptop or I might have to skip one podcast rebroadcast during this break.
So that is my Monday, I hope yours is much better. Here is hoping that next week will be the actual start of an amazing new year for me ... I am determined to be an eternal optimist!
