Book Banter S3 EP 109: Sonya Moore Interview
Hello My Happy People,
I had so much fun editing this episode recently. It took me right back to the day we recorded this interview. We had such a fantastic conversation. I have so much admiration for Sonya Moore, author of Some Kind of Magic, A True Story Of Love Life And Wanderlust for everything she has accomplished in her life and career.
I personally know how hard it can be to just chuck the life you have always known and just pick up and move to a foreign country where you don't have family, don't know if you will be able to find a job or even just speak the language, or if you will have a hard time making new friends. Sonya didn't let any challenges stand in the way of her getting the life she wanted.
Traveling the world had always been something Sonya loved about her job, but she often did not have time to enjoy the local culture and sites. Most often, she was off to her next destination almost as soon as her work was concluded. Sonya was good at her job, but it came with a high level of stress that just didn't balance out with what her heart truly desired. The day finally came when she had enough.
In 2017, while sitting at her computer, alone in a hotel room in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sonya reached her limit. She suddenly and without warning, she found herself shouting to universe, "I don't want this anymore!" This epiphany was the beginning of her new life.
While it would take a few month to bring her life to a place where she could actually start living the life as she wanted, she wasted no time getting the wheels in motion to take her on her new path of self love, deeper discovery, and travel she was able to thoroughly enjoy. Her book, Some Kind of Magic, A True Story Of Love Life And Wanderlust details the magical transformation that has led her to a new peaceful life in Papua New Guinea. Hello My Happy People,
Today on Book Banter with Dianne Burckhardt, Dianne brings another romance author to kick off the second month of our Season Three Love Fest Opener. Joining Dianne to talk about her fantasy romance trilogy is Nadine Abrahams, author of the Stars Fallen Series.
Nadine has been an avid read for as long as she can remember. When life was complicated, books, nature, role playing, and gaming were things which provided distraction as well as entertainment. Using her personal challenges as fodder for her fantasy novels, Nadine creates strong characters who, while inherently flawed, are still powerful forces in the worlds she lovingly crafts for her readers. Her own past has taught her that a person's flaws can actually be a strength as long as they stay true to themselves and their values.
Nadine likes to explore the darker side of humanity in her writing, exploring the good and the bad within all of us and in the world around us. She uses her characters to show that even when someone is at their lowest, feeling worthless and without purpose, they can still dig deep and find the strength and the will to change their destiny and possibly even save their world in the process.

Hello My Happy People,
When you talk to La Toya Bond, it is difficult to image she has faced heartbreaking loss of a great love in her life. She has a bubbly personality, is easy to laugh, and has dedicated her life to spreading love wherever she can. This mission in her life was born out of great loss. Just four years ago, her family was shocked and devastated to learn her beloved father had died by his own hands after first taking the life of his wife. The couple had only been married nine months.
Herman McKalpain Jr. had, by all accounts, an amazing life. He was one of the first people in his family to go to college. He was considered a very intelligent and talented person with a quick wit who always had a ready joke. According to La Toya, her father had a decorated career as a radio/TV broadcast engineer for thirty years and was a local celebrity. His life seemed blessed, but behind closed doors he suffered with depression and other internal battles that eventually overpowered him.
Looking back, La Toya questions conversations she and her father had in the final years of his life. She is left wondering if she knew then what she knows now, would she have picked up on the subtle signs he was giving and been able to change his fate and prevent the horrible loss of life that befell their family.

Book Banter S3 EP 106: Terreece M. Clarke Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today I am sharing my conversation with Terreece M. Clarke. It is impossible to spend time speaking with Terreece and not come away in a better mood than when you started the conversation. With a ready smile and a kind word for everyone she meets, it is easy to see how her personality plays into her ability to connect so well with her followers.
Terreece's Courageous Love Series is more proof of her ability to connect with others. At the time of this writing, her first book in the series, Heartbeat, is sitting at number one and number two on two similar Amazon bestseller lists. While this book was released in 2022, it is still gaining traction in the romance reading community. It continues to be mentioned on various romance review book sites as being one of the best books on the market today.
According to several reviews listed on Amazon.com, Heartbeat is a well rounded story that makes the readers laugh out loud, cry, and delivers engaging, sexy characters who readers love. From Terreece's website, she is "passionate about representation, amplifying voices that are often muted, championing small businesses, highlighting workers who make a big business great, and taking on society’s tough topics. We have to model the change we want and share the megaphone so everyone is included."
It is obvious from her stellar reviews and her placement on bestseller lists that her readers appreciate her work and her storytelling. Which makes it all the more amazing that she was not always focused on becoming an author. Terreece started out her college career with the intention to be a broadcast journalist, but quickly found out that the stories she wanted to tell were not the ones she would be assigned. She is an incredible person who just radiates love and positivity.

Book Banter S3 EP 105: Elizabeth Teets Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today I am sharing my chat with Elizabeth Teets. In January 2024, Elizabeth released her first book, an anthology, Isn't She Great: Writers on Women-Led Comedies from 9 to 5 to Booksmart. Editing the selection of articles for this book was a project for which she was well prepared.
Elizabeth started out her career in comedy. For years she wrote her own sets and performed stand up, honing her comedy chops in front of live audiences. She soon expanded her writing portfolio as she began crafting articles for the punk rock satire site, The Hard Times. She would go on to expand her portfolio, publishing articles for various publications including Bunny Ears, Repeller, Hobart, Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times.
One of her more popular articles appeared in Catapult, "How to Write About Your Ex". This was not the first time Elizabeth had written about her exes. Before her "ex" articles were published, she had been planning to write a book of essays. Early in the process, she noticed that a bulk of her essays were focusing on past relationships that had gone awry for one reason or another.
Reviewing her work she decided to refocus the project and began to edit out many of the ex essays. But as they were already written, she decided to make good use of the work and submitted them for publication with various outlets. They were a hit with her readers.

Book Banter Season 3 Opener: Susan Horsnell Interview
Hello My Happy People.
I was scrambling to get ready for season three. I was doing good and had time to relax and then as always happens, Murphy's Law had to rear his ugly head and mess up my plans by giving me the flu.
I am recovering, but I am scrambling to get everything set up for the beginning of our season three episodes. For the next eight weeks we have some amazing authors who have published books on all aspect of love: self-love, love for life, love for female-led comedies, how to get over the loss of a loved one, and of course romantic love. We have romance authors from sweet, no heat to hot and spicy!
Today I am sharing my chat with Susan Horsnell. Susan is a USA Today Bestselling author from Queensland, Australia whose book catalog includes a selection of sub-genre romance themes. The sub-genres she likes to write include a wide variety from sweet westerns with Christian themes, to historical, gay, shape shifter, mafia, and contemporary romance. She has even written non-fiction and a few children's books to keep the mix truly diverse.
With more than sixty published works, traditionally and indie published, including novels and novellas, Susan has built a solid reputation for herself in the romance community and a loyal following of devoted readers. She is proof that an author can dabble in various sub-genres and not lose their market.

She a cookbook author, food writer, menu and recipe developer, professional chef, culinary consultant, a budding food photographer, and just a truly fantastic person. Somehow she managed to find time in her busy career to talk with Dianne about her cookbook, SOUPified. Michele began her professional career in a much different field. After graduating college, Michele didn't head to the kitchen but instead started working in finance as a Certified Public Accountant with a top firm in NYC. However, her life was meant to take a different path.
After leaving the financial world behind, Michele graduated culinary school and created a new career path for herself in what would turn out to be a deeply satisfying move. Michele spent years working for others in the food industry as a cook, recipe and menu developer and eventually becoming a culinary director for one of the world’s largest natural foods retailers. It wasn't long before Michele decided to take the next natural step and start her own business, It’s All About The Food LLC.
As her professional success continued, Michele expanded with the creation of Mangia With Michele in 2017. As you know, I am always on the lookout for people and programs to share with all of you which I think are fantastic author resources.
