Hello My Happy People,
Today Dianne is joined by another expat author, Kezia Kos, a Brazilian expat living in Germany. She has an impressive educational background, with a degree in translation for French and English and a specialization course in psychoanalysis.
After moving to the other side of the planet from her family, Kezia began to get a new perspective on her own family relationships. While researching family characteristics, Kezia found very few stories about the “golden child,” one of the many possible roles within family dynamics depending on an individual’s personality traits.
When a family is headed by a narcissistic parent, there is a specific constellation of roles that other family members tend to take on around them: the flying monkey, the black sheep, the golden child, and others.
To better understand her own role in her family, Kezia turned to therapy which became a big part of her journey of self discovery. As she began watching videos online about narcissistic family systems, she began to recognize her own family in the descriptions. Kezia noticed there were very few stories that focused on "The GoldenChild," the one who stays and lives under the thumb of the narcissistic parent. This is the story Kezia wanted to tell.
Taking heavily from her own life, Kezia decided to write a series of books using the information she had learned in her studies and therapy to bring to light some of these seldom discussed family dynamics.

Book Banter S3 EP 116: N. Joseph Glass Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today I talk with the wonderful sci-fi author, N. Joseph Glass (Joseph). Like Dianne, Joseph is an American expat in Europe. He is an Italian American currently living in Milan, Italy. In recent years, he has devoted his time, along with his two grown sons, to helping the refugee community in Italy. When not focused on his humanitarian efforts, Joseph fills his free time reading and with his more recent exploration into creative writing.
Joseph has always been fascinated by stories that ignite his imagination. By his own admission, Joseph acknowledges that his move into creative writing was not planned, but rather just happened. What started off as a hobby, evolved into credible works in progress. In 2022, Joseph published Colony’s Dawn: Book One of the New Europa Trilogy . This series has received glowing reviews as well as a few accolades, including a Readers’ Favorite 5 Star Seal for Best Science Fiction audiobook of 2023.
With his first steps into publishing being so well received, it is not surprising to find his latest book, Overlap: The Lives of a Former Time Jumper had earned him another Readers’ Favorite 5 Star Seal as well as a Literary Titan Award.

Book Banter S3 EP 115: Nandita Godbole Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today I am thrilled to bring another amazing cookbook author to all of you. Nandita Godbole has reinvented herself many times. She has been a botanist and a landscape architect, but family influence finally won out as she followed in the footsteps of many others in her family and ventured into the kitchen with a new purpose.
Nowadays you can find Nandita either in the kitchen creating new and wonderful recipes or in her potter’s shed creating beautiful dishes to display her creations on. For many, being a personal chef and a potter would be enough to focus on, but Nandita found more creative outlets to explore.
To fulfill her creative side, she explores art in many forms including being an artist, a graphic designer, a poet, and an author with several published works which include fiction as well as several cookbooks. She also creates and sells spice blends from her website Curry Cravings™ Kitchen and according to her, she is an eternal dreamer.
Nandita writes books with the intention to bring greater awareness to the general public about traditional Indian food and show others just how easy it can be to create amazing, delicious, and healthy dishes. Just don’t let her website name fool you, you will not find a recipe for a “curry” in any of her cookbooks. What you will find is an amazing collection of recipes for kormas, stews, and saucy dishes which are often referred to as “curries” in many restaurants.

Book Banter S3 EP 114: A. J. Landau Team Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today I bring you my first ever writing team interview. While I have interviewed people who write with a partner, I have never interviewed both authors in the same interview. It was so much fun talking with Jeff Ayers and Jon Land that I may have to reconsider and do more of these multi-author interviews.
Both men were both accomplished writing professionals long before they joined forces to create the unique and masterfully crafted thriller, Leave No Trace , the first in a new series under their pseudonym, A. J. Landau. If you are blessed to spend any time at all speaking with this talented duo, it is easy to see how they complement each other in style, knowledge, and mutual admiration.
Jeff Ayers worked as a reference librarian for nearly 30 years while pursuing his own writing career as a freelance writer and reviewer, for which he earned honors such as Fiction Reviewer of the Year. During his career Jeff had the opportunity to interview such notable authors as Dan Brown and James Patterson, among others.
One of Jeff’s more notable solo works is Voyages of Imagination: The Star Trek Fiction Companion . To prepare to write this compendium, Jeff read more than 550 novels and interviewed more than 350 people connected to the Star Trek franchise, including William Shatner. Jeff also helps to promote other authors and the thriller genre as Co-Executive Director of ThrillerFest, an annual conference for the International Thriller Writers.
Jon Land has been a noted author since the 1980s with more than 60 books to his credit. While best known for his long and respected career as a thriller writer, Jon has produced a variety of work from award-winning nonfiction to a screenwriting credit for the film Dirty Deeds.
Besides his own well-established thrillers including his Caitlin Strong series and Blain McCracken series, Jon also took a turn writing several books in the Murder, She Wrote series based on the TV show of the same name.
While Jon has built an amazing and respected career as a solo author, he also has previous experience writing as part of a bestselling author team. In 2017, Jon published a sci-fi novel, The Rising , with co-author Heather Graham.
Listening to the men talk about their working relationship, it is easy to understand how this writing team works so well together. The mutual admiration the pair has for what the other brings to the process is obvious. Jon speaks in a more energetic voice that easily conveys his excitement when talking about their differing writing processes and inspirations. We had a very deep discussion about the introspective process behind writing books, fiction or nonfiction, that the author puts so much of themselves into the work and how it can affect not only the author but those around them.
It has been said that there are no more original stories, only retellings. Boo not only defies that notion with her book, The Daughter Ship , but completely blows it out of the water. Her story of a wife and mother struggling with mental illness gives an incredibly unique take on the way people cope with inner demons.
While it is often common practice for writers to describe characters such as Boo Trundle’s Katherine as using different methods to suppress disturbing thoughts and emotions, readers would be hard pressed to find another work where they were quite literally trapped in a submerged submarine.
While The Daughter Ship is Boo’s first published novel, with her creative past, it is easy to understand how she would have the skills and experience to craft such an imaginative and engaging book. Today I bring you an interview with the incredible interracial romance author, Khushi T. Saha. We talked about her writing process, all of her published works, and an upcoming event where fans could actually meet her. We did the usual five quick questions that turned out surprisingly quicker than normal.
Khushi is a first-generation Bangladeshi in America. While she was born and raised in the U.S., her connection to the motherland is fierce. It is easy to recognize South Asian references and representation purposely sprinkled throughout her novels.
Khushi has always been a notorious daydreamer, finding distraction in the creation of her own worlds. When you add this creative mindset to her tendency to be, in her words, a mushy person, it is easy to understand the appeal romance books held for her, both reading and writing.
Khushi credits her decision to write romance novels as an attempt at self-care. Writing became therapy to deal with past personal trauma. There was no way she could have predicted her chosen method of healing would eventually evolve into a full fledged romance writing career.
In her novels, Khushi strives to bring a voice to underrepresented people with her interracial romances. Her stories are full of angst and personal growth, with plenty of steamy passion, a touch of snarky humor, and love.

Hello My Happy People,
I am so glad I can finally get this email out to all of you. I have been having nothing be technical difficulties today and people messaging me left and right about different things, it has just been hectic.
The next issue of Book Banter Magazine is almost finished, but I was not able to touch it all all today with everything else going on. At least you all get to hear the incredible conversation I had with historical fiction/paranormal romance author J.R. Byers.
Janet is the last author in our regularly scheduled LoveFest author group, but next week you will get a bonus author. She had to drop out of the regular lineup but we managed to get her rescheduled in time to bring her in at the end.
But enough of my rambling, let's get on to the amazing J.R. Byers, paranormal romance author.
To say that J.R. Byers is a lifelong fan of romance novels is not much of an exaggeration. She fell in love with the genre at the tender age of twelve. Since then, her love of romance has only grown. When J.R. first felt the urge to pen her own fiction, romance was the obvious choice.
With so many sub-genres available to dabble in, J.R. has used her platform to explore more than just one theme for her storytelling. Writing contemporary, paranormal, and historical romance novels gave her a creative outlet that has been well received by her readers.

Hello My Happy People,
Today I get to share with you my interview with spicy romance author Eve Black. She has a great deal of experience writing various forms of romance from sweet and loving to her hot and spicy motorcycle club (MC) books we talked about in today's episode.
Many authors take on pen names for various reasons. Some take on these pseudonyms in an attempt to keep their personal and working lives separate. Others do it to keep an obvious separation in the various genres they write.
Whatever the reason, writing under a pen name can provide the writer a freedom that is not always possible otherwise. When Eve Black decided to expand her romance author offerings, a pen name seemed like a good option as she expanded her catalog of work from her sweet, historical romance books and her dark, sexy medieval romances to her hot and spicy MC Club books.
As Eve Black, she has been able to bring her readers edgier tales that are filled with characters who revel in their raw sexuality, but still seek out real romantic connections and acceptance in worlds where that is not always easy to find or trust.
Eve delivers strong, plus sized heroines who can stand on their own, toe to toe with their male counterparts. These independent female characters have not appealed to all of her readers. A scant few seem to prefer the demure, archetype that is often prevalent in mainstream romance, but Eve does not consider them her target market with this series.
If Amazon reviews are any indication, Eve seems to have found her market. With hundreds of glowing reviews on her Savage Raiders MC books, it is obvious that the vast majority of her readers love her characters and are waiting breathlessly for more offerings in this hot and spicy romance series.
