Book Banter S3 EP 140: D.G. McCool Jr. Interview
Hello My Happy People,
I am so thrilled to bring this author interview to you today. D.G. McCool Jr. (Del) is a self-professed lifelong fan of science fiction and fantasy and a fellow midwesterner. He is a devoted SciFi/Fantasy enthusiast of more than just the usual main stream authors of the genre, but has also branched out into role playing games as well.
In his youth, Del took comfort in creating his own worlds in short stories. Eventually these early works would become the groundwork for his first novel, but it would be years before the dream of becoming an author would come to pass.
Del’s career path began with 10 years of service in the US Army. After leaving that service, Del went down another avenue where he could protect and serve his community with 14 years in law enforcement.
It wasn’t until Del moved into the corporate world that he was able to take time to start writing as a sideline to his day job. In 2021, Del finally published his first book.
Del was able to publish a few more books over the next few years but it wasn’t until her retired in 2024 that he was able to finally devote full time to his writing career.

Today I get to share with all of you my chat with the amazing romantic suspense author, Kristie Wolf. Kristie knew from a young age she wanted to be an author. Delving into her mother’s Harlequin Romance book collection as a teenager, Kristie found herself inspired.
While it took a while for her to fulfill her dream, Kristie finally achieved her goal in 2023 with the publication of her book, Too Dangerous to Love , book one in her Project Viper Series. It was followed in 2024 with Knife to the Heart , her new Blood Snow Series.
Kristie’s books stand out in the romance genre for more than just their unique story lines, fearless heroes, and badass heroines. Her cover art variants give her books a unique edge that many romance readers might find very attractive. Each book comes with two different covers from which readers can choose what best suits their needs.
Like many authors, Kristie’s career path did not lead directly to becoming an author. She initially went to college to study marketing. After graduation, she eventually landed a job in advertising and later transitioned into public relations.

Book Banter S3 EP 138: Refe Tuma Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today I share my chat with the incredible children's book author, Refe Tuma. Refe (pronounced Reef) not only has a unique name, but he and his wife Susan have built a fun and decidedly unique literary brand for themselves. As the creators of Dinovember and the What the Dinosaurs Did Series, they entertain their followers with their dino-antics while also inspiring families to come together and create their own dino-adventures at home.
According to Wikipedia, there are approximately 200,000 Dinovember followers, but there is a smaller group who go the extra mile to join in on the fun themselves. This month-long event has solidified a strong fanbase for the Tumas’ book series and secured them a place in American pop culture history.
The Tumas are currently working on their next book, What the Dinosaurs Did on Halloween . Their dinosaur series is not the only publishing endeavor that Refe has to his credit. Refe also branched out with a solo creation, a new middle-grade line of storybooks called the Frances Stenzel Series.
Inspired by popular stop-motion films like Coraline , Refe imagined a story about a child whose parents are workaholic scientists. They are so wrapped up in their work, they neglect to spend time with their child. Frustration leads the child to take drastic steps to get their parent’s attention.
As Refe thought about this story over the years, it evolved and changed until Frances Stenzel was a fully fleshed out character with a captivating story to tell. A number of reviewers have compared Frances and the Monster to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein . Others describe it as “colorful,” “captivating,” and even Kirkus Reviews called it a “remarkably original tale.”
In 2023, Frances and the Monster was followed by the highly anticipated second installment, Frances and the Werewolves of the Black Forest . This current installment has already earned a Bram Stoker Awards Nomination and is a 2024 Page Turner Awards Finalist. With two successful children’s book series in publication, it will be interesting to see what Refe will create next.

Book Banter S3 EP 137: Mary P. Fisher Interview

Today Dianne brings you her fascinating conversation with author, Mary P. Fisher.
Mary Paula Fisher has had an extensive career in healthcare as a registered nurse. While her career was mainly focused on critical care and ICU nursing, Mary also worked with visiting nurses, hospice, and end-of-life care. These experiences led her to broaden her skill set beyond the basic medical training provided through mainstream programs. She was able to explore the benefits of more holistic healing techniques.
Mary became an Usui Reiki Master Teacher after attending the Four Winds Society, School of Energy Healing. Since 2013, Mary has been able to utilize her new mastery to provide health education and healing programs, teaching various health and well-being techniques to corporate clients, healthcare employees, and interested individuals. Throughout her nursing career, Mary has had many memorable encounters with the patients in her care.
Mary started her book project around 2015 while she was still working as a nurse. Due to her demanding career, she was not able to devote significant time to her writing. Once she retired from nursing in May of 2023, she shifted her focus to her writing career and to finishing her memoir.
Mary credits advice she got from individuals she met through the Cape Cod Writers Groups for influencing her decision to go the independent publishing route instead of seeking a traditional publisher. Besides providing her with beneficial career advice, the group hosted a five-day writers conference where Mary connected with another member of the group who became her mentor and great friend.

Book Banter S3 EP 136: Jeanne McWilliams Blasberg Interview
Hello My Happy People,
I am thrilled to bring you another amazing literary fiction author today. Jeanne McWilliams Blasberg may be best known as a bestselling and award-winning author, but she is also proud to add more to her credits, having recently become the steward of a 420-acre regenerative farm in Wisconsin.
Her farming venture aside, Jeanne has been working hard for several years to build a solid base for her writing career. Her first book, Eden , was published in 2017 and earned her a prestigious Benjamin Franklin Silver Award for Best New Voice in Fiction. She was also a finalist for the Sarton Women’s Book Award for Historical Fiction.
Jeanne followed up that successful publication in 2019 with The Nine . As with the first book, her second novel added more awards to her growing list of accolades. I am thrilled to bring you another amazing literary fiction author today. Jeanne McWilliams Blasberg may be best known as a bestselling and award-winning author, but she is also proud to add more to her credits, having recently become the steward of a 420-acre regenerative farm in Wisconsin.
Her farming venture aside, Jeanne has been working hard for several years to build a solid base for her writing career. Her first book, Eden , was published in 2017 and earned her a prestigious Benjamin Franklin Silver Award for Best New Voice in Fiction. She was also a finalist for the Sarton Women’s Book Award for Historical Fiction.
Jeanne followed up that successful publication in 2019 with The Nine . As with the first book, her second novel added more awards to her growing list of accolades. Book Banter S3 EP 135: David Weill, MD Interview
Hello My Happy People,
Today, before we get on with our interview information, we would be remiss not to acknowledge the events that happened on September 11th, 2001. We send love and prayers to every person affected by this devastating attack on American's. We will never forget!
In this episode, Dianne get to shares her wonderful conversation with David Weill, MD. They had a fantastic discussion about books, medicine, and the best flavor of ice cream. You will not want to miss out on this chat with the incredibly intelligent, talented, and charming David Weill, MD.
Being the only son of a doctor and a nurse, David, seemed destined to become a physician himself. His entry into the medical field began when he was just a teenager. He was very comfortable in the hospital environments from the start.
His comfort was clearly an asset to David’s career path — choosing to specialize in pulmonary medicine, specifically with lung transplants. Taking a job with Stanford University Medical Center, David would eventually work his way to becoming the hospital’s Director of the Center for Advanced Lung Disease and Lung and Heart-Lung Transplant Program.
However, after spending decades on the frontlines of such a demanding job, David decided it was time to take a step back to refocus his life. In 2016, David moved back to New Orleans, where he established the Weill Consulting Group. He is the driving force behind this group that focuses on improving pulmonary, ICU, and transplant care.
This new direction in David’s life also led him to more creative outlets. In 2021, David wrote his memoir, Exhale: Hope, Healing, and a Life in Transplant. This book focused on the emotional roller coaster of working in transplant medicine. In 2024, he followed his memoir with a fiction novel called, All That Really Matters .
Both books have received high praise in online reviews, proving David to not only be a talented doctor, but also quite adept at translating the medical world into a written form with books that are both engaging and entertaining for readers of all levels.

Hello My Happy People,
Jelaine Lombardi has lived a life with which very few can identify. Her list of identifiers include being a wife and a mother. She was a Newborn ICU nurse for thirty-two years. She is a passionate horsewoman and has been so her entire life. She is a First Mate, an artist, and a writer, but one thing that truly makes Jelaine unique is the fact she was raised as a nudist.
This began as a weekend family activity when she was just 15 months old until her parents bought their own South Florida nudist park when she was seven. She lived as a nudist until she was eighteen. In her book, Running Around Naked, A Memoir, Jelaine shares stories from her childhood that cover an array of situations and stories that range from hysterically funny to somewhat disturbing.
Jelaine is quick to point out that she does not speak for all nudists and emphasizes that she did not write her book to persuade or deter anyone from being a nudist. She just wanted to share her story.
Having retired from healthcare, Jelaine is now focusing on her writing career. She is revisiting her childhood and sharing her memories through various creative outlets of poetry, short stories, and books. She also wrote a memoir for one of her rescue horses, Abby’s Tale: Memoir of a Rescued Horse, with plans to write memoirs for more of her horses. Through her business, she creates and sells high-quality, small-batch foods inspired by family recipes. Kausar is passionate about sharing the delectable foods and flavors that are unique to Pakistani cuisine.
According to Kausar, The Karachi Kitchen was written to be a culinary commemoration, celebrating both classic and contemporary flavors of Pakistan.
