Today, Dianne is sharing another incredible Season 4 Lovefest author with all of you. In this episode, Dianne chats with international bestselling historical fiction author, Karen Essex.
Karen has a variety of published works that all focus on the accomplishments of her strong female characters. The woman discuss many of the titles Karen has available but the focus on her Kleopatra duology, Kleopatra, Book I: The Early Years and Pharaoh, Book II of Kleopatra . While the first book, focuses on Kleopatra's early life, Pharaoh tells the about this incredible woman's life as a diplomat, leader, and her involvement with Marc Anthony, one of the greatest love stories in history.
Besides writing Kleopatra and Pharaoh , she has also adapted both into screenplays for Warner Bros. Lionsgate Entertainment. Recently she adapted both for Netflix with Essex co-writing a pilot. Script adaptations is something Karen is quite experienced in, having adapted Anne Rice’s novel The Mummy or Ramses the Damned into a screenplay for director James Cameron and 20th Century Fox, as well as many other notable projects and continues to develop a variety of film and television projects.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Karen graduated from Tulane University, attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University, and received an MFA in Writing from Goddard College. Besides her writing career, Karen had worked as a model and costume designer. She has lived in London and divides her time between NOLA, Los Angeles, and Europe. Hello My Happy People!
Today I am sharing my interview with the incredible Allie McCormack. Allie is the award-winning romance author of Wishes in a Bottle , part of her Wishes & Dreams series. Just one of many romance series she has written.
Allie is a disabled Vietnam-era veteran. She served in the 9th Division stationed in Washington for many years and had a temporary assignment with NATO in Europe working for a 4-star General. After her service, Allie went to college and became an exchange student in Cairo, Egypt. Her world travels were not limited to Egypt and we talk about all the amazing places she has lived and visited and how these experiences infused her writing with realism and vibrance.
While Allie admits she has always been a writer and storyteller, it wasn't until later in life when she finally pushed herself to try writing her first romance. She discusses her process and how a first chapter contest led to her current writing career.
Allie (and her two rescue cats) currently lives with her daughter and her family in Southern California, where she happily provides on-demand babysitter services for her adorable granddaughter. Go listen now to find our more about this incredible author.

Today Dianne shares her interview with the USA Today and Amazon Bestselling author, Rochelle B. Weinstein. The women had a fantastic discussion covering just about every aspect of Rochelle's professional journey.
Rochelle was born and raised in Miami, Florida, but she ended up launching her career on the other coast. After college, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked for the LA Weekly , in their advertising and promotions department covering film studios and record labels.
It was an ad in the Miami Herald that would bring her back home to Miami. For the next ten years, she managed the advertising, marketing, and promotions for every record label in the country at The Box Music Network .

Today we kick off two months of author interviews featuring books where love is at the center of the stories. We talked to authors who write tradition romance tropes as well as authors who write more outside of the "romance" box to show that love can play a big part of any story, even mainstream thrillers. So mark your calendars every Wednesday and join us February 5th to March 26th for some amazing romance reads!
Today we kick things off for our Season 4 Lovefest with award-winning romance author, Lori Matthews. Books were an important element in Lori's life for as long as she can remember. Growing up in Nova Scotia, Lori remembers her home always being filled with books and the family often made time to sit and read together.
It is not surprising to learn her love of books influenced her career path, choosing to become a librarian. She started her career in the New York City Public Library and later chose to work more closely with children as a high school librarian. Lori even made a slight detour into the corporate world as a librarian for a major publishing house, but eventually Lori chose to change her path again.
When her children went off to school, Lori finally took the time to pursue a new path, becoming an author. Lori has won numerous writing awards including two Daphne Du Maurier awards. She currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, two children, her crazy dog, and her grumpy cat.

Welcome to our holiday hiatus episodes between our regular podcast seasons. Normally we play "The Best of" shows from the season that is ending, but this year we are bringing you interviews we recorded live at the Frankfurter Buchmesse in Frankfurt, Germany. This Buchmesse is the world's largest publishing convention and with these interviews we barely scratched the surface of the incredible vendors attending this conference.
In today's show you will hear Dianne Burckhardt conducting an interview on the convention floor with author Kasey Rogers and then Dianne and Pedro share their parting observations of their first visit to the Frankfurter Buchmesse.
Kasey Rogers, Author and Domestic Abuse Prevention Activist
Kasey spent much of her earlier career working in the commercial film industry in New York City by day and writing a musical in between film projects. After the birth of her twins, she switched gears to follow another passion, cooking. That passion led her and her late husband to turn a vacation property in Alexandria, Ontario, into a restaurant. Kasey is an outspoken advocate for women and speaks about the connection between domestic and financial abuse.

Pedro and I share our closing thoughts about our first visit to the Frankfurter Buchmesse and our plans for future attendance. It is safe to say, we will be back!

With everything from activity books to illustrated classics, they provide something to engage just about any child and reading level. According to Ciara, they cover everything from board books and nursery age titles all the way up to young adult fiction and unabridged classics.

Cosplayer Hannah Gässler (no link)
Walking around the Frankfurter Buchmesse you are greeted with a sea of literary fans many of whom are cosplayers, bringing their favorite literary characters to life. One such fan, Hannah Gässler (24), was dressed as Ashoka from Star Wars. Dianne has see many woman wearing this costume over years , but Hannah’s had the best headpiece she had seen. Dianne had to stop her and speak with her.
Pedro met with Joerg Osarek founder of Climate Hackerz, a Think- and Action-Tank focused on transforming civilization into a climate positive state.Joerg not only has a passion for educating people on climate change, but he is also an expert in IT and business transformation, working as an independent management consultant and co-founder of the its-people group. In 2019, he founded ClimateHackerz. Joerg also shares his knowledge through workshops, customer projects, and as a keynote speaker.

We will still be publishing all the magazines in print format on Amazon.
