The Empty Vase

Have you ever looked for a vase or purchased one?

What do you do with it when you get home from the store? It sits in the cub bard and/or the side (until you buy something to put in it). Right? I mean, who notices an empty vase?

And what about you? Are you an "empty vase?" If so, today is the day you must put something inside of it, or replace the wilting flowers someone else might of put there accidentally (without you even knowing it).

Why? Someone needs to see them, before they wilt away.[image error]

"Now Hiring." Really?

Have you ever seen the words "Now Hiring" painted on a car or store window? The fact that it is permanently PAINTED on really scares me.

I remember having one experience a few years back, where I saw one of those "Now Hiring" painted on signs, but when I asked the manager for an application... do you know what they said? After sizing me up, the manager replied, "Oh we aren't hiring now."

Although I knew a tremendous amount about the products they sold, I never went in their again.

Lesson?

No Live Person?

I used to work at a "Call Center" a while back and the management set up a particular system, where we were instructed to give out an email address for any type of "Customer Service" inquiry (which didn't make too much sense to me). When I advised the callers of this email address, they responded, "There is no live person to talk to?" I then replied, "What do you mean... there are 'live' people at the end of that email."

Then the callers usually say, "Oh I meant no one to talk with over the phone

The Power in Disaster's

I remember sitting across from a lady at this "Survival Job" I was working at. She recently got back from her brother's funeral. I listened as people inquired about her days off. One by one, she repeated the same thing to everyone, "We have to make the most out of each day, because we just don't know when will be our last."

To my amazement, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months... and it seems as if she had forgotten about this sage advice she gave to all of her coworkers (until

The Bucket and a Frog

Recently I had heard one of the most powerful stories I’ve come across in a long time, and decided to share it with as many people as I can.

The story is this:

There were two frogs who jumped into a bucket of fresh milk by accident. Trying to do everything within their power to get out, they swam and swam and swam but the sides of the bucket were too slippery, so they kept falling back down into it.

Frustrated beyond belief, the larger of the two frogs, eventually gave up and said to the smaller o

Winning After Losing 75% of the Time

I was a telemarketer a number of years ago at a company called, "Investors Business Daily." The best thing about that job, was when the founder Mr. William J. O' Neil headed our sales meetings. For those that don't know him, he is the author of a number of best selling books on investing and is probably one of the greatest investors of our time.

With that said, the one thing that stood out in my mind was when he said one thing that stuck with me since working there (close to ten years ago). He sa

What A Swarm Of Bees Taught Me

A few weeks ago, I was on my motorcycle riding down Central Ave. in Glendale, California. It was a nice day out and decided to go write at one of my favorite cafe's down the street.

With my laptop secured into my backpak and my motorcycle checked out and ready to go, I was looking forward to the usual trip there (wearing my typical t-shirt and jeans).

However, as I waited for the light to turn green, I noticed something wasn't right. Although it looked like flying little debri in the distance, up

Experience Versus Results

I honestly think resumes are a joke (like the SAT’s – but that is a whole different story). For one, resumes only tell you information about what someone wants to share with you they don’t measure the RESULTS someone can get for you. Big difference.

Next is the interview process. The employer sits at their desk grilling you with questions they think are important to know about your “experience” (not so much having anything to do with the job at hand or your NATURAL gifts/talents, but more abou

Can Kids Rule the Country?

Since unknowingly starting "The Poet and the Billionaire" in 1999, there is no way I could do anything outside of the ordinary if I didn't remind myself every single day(sometimes 3 times a day), of who I really am and what I feel I'm here to do.

When I think back to all I ever wanted in life, I still have to go back to when I was a kid. As an adult, my vision always seems to be so clouded in what marketers, jobs, and people's expectations sold to me (so I feel I kind of have to).

With that said,

Cutting Jobs? HOW BORING!

I had recently gotten an email from a company that is "shedding jobs because of the economy." How boring and uncreative!

Idea: hire an independent musician as a top level executive who is forced to come up with creative ways in making money for their business and yours (or anyone else in the "creative field" for that matter). Sure they may not wear a shirt and tie to work, but what one wears and how they look has NO impact on what one KNOWS.

Einstein said it best when he said, "An individual canno
