Five to Ten Seconds
I remember one day when I was going to the gym, a lady stopped me on the way out to say, “Hello.” I haven’t seen her before and she must have been new at the front desk. We briefly chatted and the conversation lasted about 5 to 10 seconds or so.
About 15 minutes later I was driving on the freeway about to pass this eighteen - wheeler truck… when all of a sudden, something happened. The driver of the truck slammed on his breaks, and smoke shot out everywhere as he side swiped a small car to th

The Good And The Bad
Can a company keep "good" employees if they have "bad" employees?
I think that is a really important question we need to ask in business. If you consider yourself a "good" employee how long have you lasted at a particular job that has "bad" employees?
For instance, lets say that you know you do a great job and no one notices it... how long before you say, "I'm done." What if you were passed over for a raise knowing you did a great job... how long before you say, "I'm going to another place that ca

You Are Always Right
My mom always used to say, "I'm always right." Then I thought about it... Does anyone ever say anything knowing they are 100% wrong?
And by the way, don't try to DISagree with me (I think you know why). :)[image error]

Does "Thank You" Really Work?
As someone who tries to follow as best as he can, what he writes about, I had written a short thank you note to someone who I was really impressed with as I was in the process of updating my health insurance. What did they do that was so special? They helped me get much better insurance coverage, but in a way that really went above and beyond (I thought).
Now I'm not sure how powerful comments like these are to someone, until I get a response like this back:
"Wow! Thank you very much! I have been

A $25/hr Job
This was forwarded to me, and thought I should share it. The pay is $25/hr. What would you do if you saw this ad on Craig's List (where it was REALLY posted)?
MY WIFE CHEATED ON ME AND MY THREE CHILDREN, SHE HAS REPENTED AND HAS AGREED TO BE FOLLOWED AROUND BY SOME ONE TO SHOW THAT SHE IS NOT CHEATING ANY MORE. YOU NEED A CAR AND A CELL PHONE. HOURS ARE 10-2 AND WILL BE PAID $100 CASH PER DAY FOR FOUR HOURS OF WORK. MOSTLY JUST DRIVING AROUND FOLLOWING HER AROUND AND TELLING ME WHAT SHE IS DOING.

Yes And No
I still wonder what each individual would be able to accomplish in this world if we were told "yes" instead of "no" over 148,000 by the time we hit eighteen? I'm still fascinated by the fact that I read that in a book printed in 1990.
What do you think that number is up to now almost 20 years later? I'm curious to see if that number includes the "no's" we tell ourselves.[image error]

Are You "Successful?"
Someone had asked me the other day (as I'm booking speaking engagements) if I was "successful." I knew what I wanted to say, but I honestly had to think long and hard about this, to which I responded, "Well doesn't that depend on who I compare myself to?"
I was reminded of this when I was on the treadmill a few days back and saw a gentleman wearing a 6 inch lift on his left shoe so that it was even with his right. I thought, "You know I guess I am pretty ‘successful' if I can run on this treadmi

Why Should I Care
Someone close to me who is a "Claims Examiner" had just gotten a call from a "claimant" whose doctor pulled them out of work. Why? Because the "claimant" says, "My new job duties are too much right now." Want to know what he does? The actual claim says (and this is 100% true), "Employee stands there and feeds mail into a machine."
Do you think that is the real reason why the employee doesn't want to go to work? Do you think he cares about this company? Do you think the company cared about him?[image error]

Quotes That Changed My Life
I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes that helped to TRULY change my life. Here are just a few:
1 - "People can be so blinded by what they want IT to be, that whatever reality they perceive it SHOULD be, they lose." This is from my book "The Poet and the Billionaire." It had to be hammered into my head to realize that I was MORE in love with how things WERE GOING to be, that I lost the reality of the situation in the current moment. Lets just say I had to change MAJOR things in my lif

The Power of One Compliment
I was sitting at my "Surival Job" thinking, "I REALLY don't belong here! I just don't get how I'm still working here! Is this going to get any better?" Sound familiar?
So I got up to go to the bathroom and I walked into the manager of the department (as I often dreaded). Could you believe he didn't say one word to me EVEN after I said, "good morning." Then I thought, "I wonder how common something like this is, that people base whether or not they need to be nice to you depending on the posit
