Word of Mouth Advertising
I can mention the name of a company right in this space here ___________ and a lot of people's name, email and phone number right here _____________ and right here _____________ and on and on and on.
It's pretty scary if you REALLY think about it huh?
The reason I say that, is because all those companies, managers and CEO's out there (from the people that mop your floors to the people that answer the phone) people are talking about you (believe it or not). Give them a reason to talk badly about

How to Deal With "Annoying" People
Someone had recently asked me to write about "How you deal with annoying people at work. You know, like, the kind of people who smile at you and give you a compliment then turn around and do really vicious or at least really annoying things for no apparent reason other than they are crazy and there to make your life difficult."
Here are a few quick insights and tips on how to make this "work" in your business or personal life:
1 - Understand that people make other people's life "difficult" becaus

Unconventional Ways to Bring About Change in an Organization
Someone had recently asked me, "What is your personal approach to bringing change in an organization?" I replied, "Got a few weeks?" :)
But honestly, I think there is a lot to it, so I wanted to expand on my thoughts about this (because I think it's really important to share). So here are a few of my insights:
1 – Give a compliment and a smile. To start off, I think it is best to take a look at the results to my year long survey so far (on my blog's home page). It asks people, "What is the smalles

What Does "Made In America" Really Mean?
In our business and personal life, I think that we should bring back our sense of values into doing what we feel is right or wrong. You don't have to tell me whether you agree with me or not, but you do have to follow through on what you FEEL is right or wrong. After all, if you buy something from somewhere you are supporting their company, their country AND their values (whether you believe in them or not).
To illustrate this, I want to tell you about how I spent the fourth of July back on the

A Different Way To Motivate
Recently, someone asked me a great question. They said, "How do you continue to motivate yourself?"
Here is a portion of my response that I wanted to expand on:
When I used to be a certified personal trainer I had so many people give me many more reasons for not working out than working out. In short, write down and give yourself many more reason for doing it than not doing it.
In this instance people would say, "Well I don't work out because I don't have time, the gym is too far from my house, my

"I Want"
I cringe every single time I hear someone say, "I want to be an actor." My first response to that would be, "What do you HAVE TO do?"
It reminds me of that quote I read from a famous musician that said, "If you want to be a musician, your not."
So the next time you say, "I want to _____" you might want to see where other people are who use that same terminology. Once you do, compare it to those that says, "I HAVE TO _____."
Who makes more things happen? Hint: I'm not writing this because I want to.

When Someone Goes Out of Their Way
When someone goes out of their way to thank you, it says a lot about them. When someone goes out of their way to hurt you, it also says a lot about them. What do you go out of your way to do?

The Story of a Hug
Not too long ago, a coworker proceeded to talk to me when I was busy doing something. She seemed to be offended that I wasn’t listening, and I didn’t understand why. Regardless, I felt bad because she didn’t say a word to me all day.
So before I left I went over to her and said, “Please don’t be mad at me” (and gave her a hug). Evidently it really didn’t have anything to do with me, but it felt like the right thing to do anyway (and she really appreciated it).
How many other people do you know tha

We Don't Pay You to Think
I never lasted at any "job" that required me to think much (as an "entry level" employee of an organization). I know it sounds a bit weird, but I wouldn't be able to inspire those in my own business if I did. Real meaningful thought requires a lot of work and energy and I have yet to see any meaningful rewards given from businesses to individuals for this.
What is someone to think when they are told "we don't pay you to think" anyways?

"Nothing Ever Gets Done Around Here"
I remember working at this job where the head of the department screamed, "Nothing ever gets done around here." I remember thinking to myself, "Probably because no one likes you."
Then I thought about all of the people in my life that I consider a really good friend, and how I would do anything for them.
I think businesses nowadays should really pay attention to this.[image error]
