Couples...

Wife: "I go out all day and come home late, working six days a week, making hard-earned money, and here you are spending it all."

Husband: "Darling, there are earners and there are spenders. That's how we get an economy."

Most of the house was destroyed that day, though the police are yet to verify who broke what. At some point, both the wife and husband decided it was time they took a break. They are currently somewhere in Budapest on a couples trip.

Husband [grinning]: "You know how much we spent to get here?"

Wife [glowering]: "Don't you start that again."

Stand-Up...

The Stand-Up Comedian: "Depression and I have been together for twenty-five and more years. We're practically married. Every now and again, we tend to celebrate our anniversaries. Remember the time when you made me feel so bad for losing that job I was passionate about? Ah, good times."
The Audience: weren't laughing.

Tigers...

There was a time when the world was bathed in chaos.
It lived and died so quickly that nothing of order or beauty lingered to give its existence meaning.
And so it was that when the first Forests coated the land, the Earth birthed Tigers to help the land sustain the Forests.
So was power bottled in the bodies of striped magnificence.
Thus was order forged out of chaos.
And so did beauty, grace, ferocity, and divinity manifest in flesh and fang, claw and cunning.
Tis an irony that a beast so symbolic of swift death is responsible for the continued life of entire ecosystems.
In The eyes of Tigers reside the destiny of worlds.

The Call...

An old-fashioned telephone sits within an older-fashioned summoning pentacle. The ring goes through, the call is picked up.

"Your wish to receive this call has been granted. How may I be of service?" said a voice that sounded neither female nor male, but eager to help regardless.

"I'd like to talk to the Devil, please."

"She isn't in at the moment. In Her Majesty's absence, I am more than qualified to help. What would you like to know, Human?"

A momentary hesitation. "I would like to know...if I will ever be useful in this life."

A fleeting pause. "Everything a human does has purpose. From someone washing a plate in the kitchen to another getting their photograph taken for a magazine. The energies created from both instances become part of the grander weave. The parts maketh the whole."

"How can I know this to be true, for a fact?"

"Greater Humans than you have hunted for that answer and found only madness. I strongly advise against pursuing this line of thought. What's that thing you people often say, 'it's the little things that matter.'"

"Well, thank you for being of so little help."

A demonic sigh. "Thank you for dialing Hell's Helpline. We hope we have been of service to you this full-moon. No rating required, we know we're the best." the person expected the line to disconnect, but then, a secret share, "And human…? You are like a cat on the wall, and on your last life. Let's hope you land on your feet, and on the side you desire."

"What if I don't?"

"The little things, Human. Remember the little things."

"Thanks...I guess..."

Another sigh. "with this call, You have used up your Hell-Wish, Human from Earth-T6. Please do not summon this number again lest you incur serious galactic fines. Trust me when I say, Her Majesty always collects."

The line went silent. One might even say, the connection died.

Acting & Writing...

Acting and Writing are not about 'letting go', they are about 'reaching out'. Writers and Actors, both women and men, are well aware of the similarities they share. Writers see the story, scene, and character in their imaginations, and write down what they observe and feel. Actors see the story, scene, and character on their scripts, remake them in their own imaginations, and perform what they observe and feel. In essence, writers are recreating, and actors are reacting. There are distinct actions involved, not a passive let-go-and-hope-it-finds-me. There is craft, technique, study, and practice involved, which some people downgrade by saying, "it's a gift, I donno how I do it." Even they quietly know how much practice and work goes into creating a 'gifted' performance. Additionally, both writers and artists must know precisely what they are writing or enacting. Both reach into the abyss and feel their characters reaching back. If neither knows what they're seeking, then anything can come out of that creative realm… From mediocrity to madness… Anything…

Difference...

To be impulsive is to be reckless.
To be spontaneous is to be creative.
Some of us are doomed to learn the difference the hard way.

Dreams...

It is both comforting and unnerving to realize that there is no reasonably solid proof or genuine scientific study to prove that Dreams are not a parallel reality.
So much knowledge has been hidden or destroyed over the course of millennia that what we call 'human civilization' today is at best a mystery riddled with islands of truth, and at worst a joke missing a punchline.

The Land...

With some types of people, the land prospers and entire ecosystems thrive.
With no types of people, the land prospers and entire ecosystems thrive.

Punchline...

All of creation is a comedy. In a world that breathes life into everything, everything is gradually heading toward death. Now there's a punchline!
