Tuesday Tongues

If you remember this week’s outtakes, you may have noticed there were no tongue-out photos. There was a reason for that — I had so many tongue out photos that I decided to feature them in their own blog post! So here you go.

Is it just me, or do I look a little cross eyed in this photo?

I look like I’m giving my human a raspberry in this one.

What’s the secret my human uses to put me instantly at ease when I arrive for a pro photo session? She gives me a treat of course!

To be honest, she doesn’t really need to give me treats. But don’t tell her that.

And finally, here’s a tiny tongue out shot, courtesy of my princess crown photo session!

My New Princess Crown

Check out my new princess cat crown! My human found it at a cute vintage store called Catnip Coalition. So far they’ve helped over 60 kitties get adopted! They had a small section with cat outfits, and my human found this crown. You know she couldn’t resist getting it.

Here’s a close up so you can see more detail.

The big project was finding a princess dress to match! As you know, I have a bunch, but not all of them match this crown. Some are more suited for a tiara.

We finally settled on this dress. I think it’s the perfect one for this crown.

It’s got kind of a Snow White feel, doesn’t it?

Silly Sunday Photos

It’s time for outtakes! And we had a bunch to choose from this week.

This was right after I arrived for my Goth photo session. Maybe I was looking at that amazing chair!

I wanted to look my best for the photos!

I’m not sure if I was reaching for more treats or telling my human no more photos. Maybe both!

If you think my human got lucky catching me winking…

She did it twice in one session! This time I was wearing a different dress.

My human remembers the exact moment when she took this photo. Not that it matters.

Fun Cat Game…Only in a Dress!

Did you see the video with me trying out the concrete slab trend? If you stuck around til the end, you may remember that my human threw a treat for me to chase…while I had my dress on.

Those who did see it found it so funny that my human decided to do a whole video just of me chasing treats in dresses! Can I tell you how much fun that was?

My human picked out some of my fluffiest dresses to add to the effect.

The best part is, you can play this game with your own cat at home! Well, probably except for the dress part. You can see all the fun I had in the video below.

Afternoon Tongue-Out Photos

I love lying in the living room sun patches in the afternoon. So there I was, rolling around and taking a bath when my human started taking photos. She got a bunch of me in all sorts of crazy poses with my tongue out. You can see the best ones below. No secret messages necessary!

Finally I wanted to nap so I let her know the session was over.

New Catnip Toy = Ruined Date!

If it looks like I have complaints, it’s because I do!

The peach kitty came by for a visit. It had barely gotten started when my human decided to give him the last of the catnip toys we got a couple of months ago from a TikTok seller.

Well, that was the last I saw of him!

At least one of us was happy.

Okay, I’ll admit that I got to have lots of treats while he was busy! But I think my human could have waited a little longer before giving him that toy. You can see how crazy he went over it in the video below.

Small Therapy Cat Miracles

I got to have a therapy cat visit with my assisted living pals this week. It was a noisy day because there was a lot of remodeling going on in parts of the residence. But fortunately it was mostly far enough away to keep from disturbing me too much.

One of my regulars was on the sofa in the big room that was right by the entrance. So I visited with her first. We spent lots of quality time so she could pet and talk to me. It’s funny, one of my regulars is always on that sofa when I come in, but it’s always a different one.

The high five lady was also around (she wasn’t the last time we were there). So I spent lots of time with her, giving out high fives. She handed her phone to my human so she could take photos. I think she got some good ones.

The nonverbal woman with heavy hands was walking around and finally sat down in the dining room. So my human brought me over in my sling. (Since it was the dining room, she didn’t want me walking on the tables, even though I’m allowed to at home.) And she petted me with surprisingly soft and gentle hands. Not at all heavy like she usually does.

One man we saw was very young. Maybe in his 30s. Maybe even younger. I don’t know why people his age wind up in a facility like this, for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s. It could be an accident or some sort of disease or illness. Or maybe something they were born with. It always makes my human a little sad when we encounter a younger resident. But he was happy to see me and even gave the staff member a thumbs up when she took his photo with me.

I saw a few more people. Another sweet lady in the dining room I’d never seen before. The elderly regular who always tells me she loves me. A couple of wheelchair bound residents who weren’t completely asleep.

Then as we were getting ready to leave a resident came up to us. I was in my sling and she petted me a couple of times and asked if I was a Somali. My human said yes and the lady wandered off. It was amazing. People hardly ever know what breed I am, and how surprising that one of the few who knew lived in a memory care facility.

It was just one of several small miracles that day.

Goth Cat Shoot Behind the Scenes

Someone contacted me on my Instagram account about modeling some Goth collars for a photo shoot. Of course my human said yes! And it wasn’t long before we headed down to the photo studio for the session. The moment we walked in, it looked totally familiar, even though I’d never been there before. I knew what all the lights and the big backdrop meant.

My human got me fluffed up and ready and I was in front of the camera right away!

There were a couple different lighting set ups. One of them was really red, as you can see.

And I also got to pose on this amazing chair! My human wants a chair like that for her living room.

I Tried the Concrete Slab Cat Trend…My Way!

Have you heard about the concrete slab trend? People are buying their cats concrete slabs, and charging them in the sun. That way the cats can have the experience of lying on concrete, only inside. Well, you know my human — she had to get me to try it. Plus a concrete slab costs less than two dollars.

So she brought home this slab and set it outside in the middle of the day, then took it back inside for me to try out. And you know what happened?

The only way she could get me interested in it was by putting a dress on me!

And we made it even better with a tiara.

This trend has gotten so popular that some behaviorists, including Purina’s Dr. Annie Valeska, have chimed in about it. For the cats that enjoy it, it’s a combination of texture, and the concrete’s ability to retain warmth. And also, concrete is porous, so it’s an easy surface for a cat to leave their scent and claim ownership.

For an indoor cat, this is probably pretty novel. But even though I’m mostly indoors, I guess I’m just too jaded for this type of thing! You can see my whole reaction in the video below.
