Unsuccessful Two-Cat Photo Session

I got to visit with the peach kitty over the weekend. It was a pleasant afternoon and perfect for some photos. At least that’s what my human thought.

But the peach kitty had other ideas.

My human doesn’t expect him to pose like I do. I mean, not only is he a normal cat, he’s mostly feral on top of that. But he went about being as random as possible.

I have no idea what he was looking at here!

If my human thought she was going to get a good couples shot of us, she was totally mistaken!

She even tried bribing us with treats.

She wound up with one nice, but not particularly exciting photo.

Tongues and Other Funny Outtakes

Once again my human has a bumper crop of outtakes featuring me with my tongue out!

Yes, I have an almost identical facial expression to the first photo. Which kind of makes it even funnier.

No tongues out in this photo — just my mouth open in amazement!

I’ll admit…it is hard for my human to hold a treat in one hand and her phone in the other.

Is it just me, or does the flower crown make this tongue out photo look extra sassy?

There is something about the flower crown that seems to inspire mouth open photos.

And I’m ending this week’s funny outtakes with a tongue out photo on the new rug. I had to break it in, you know!

The Peach Kitty Goes Feral Over Cat Toy!

I had a very unsatisfactory visit with the peach kitty! And I blame my human.

It started off promising. He was waiting for us, and we got some treats.

Then my human pulled out this package of cat toys she found hidden at the back of the treat cabinet. I used to love these toys! And my human thought the peach kitty might like them too.

He wasn’t too sure about the new toy at first.

Finally curiosity got the better of him, and it looked like he might start playing with it…

Then he picked it up and ran off with it like it was prey!

And that was the last I saw of him. Next time, my human needs to leave the cat toys behind.

Finally! We Got a New Living Room Rug

It’s an exciting day around here!

My human got a new living room rug! And it was about time. The old one was here longer than I’ve been here.

Here’s proof — Sparkle relaxing on the old rug when it was new.

My human got the old rug in July 2014. She usually switches them out every seven or so years because she wears them out from her cardio workout routines. Since they don’t last that long in rug years, she tries to achieve a balance between nice looking and not too expensive.

When I got here, the rug was only a little over a month old.

So this is really the only living room rug I’ve ever known here. It’s a familiar sight in all my photo and video sessions in this room.

But this rug had really worn out its welcome! Its bare spots have been a problem for several years, and even though my human turned it several times, there was no hiding them.

She had to get creative to mask the worn out spots. She had been thinking about getting a new rug for a long time. Finally she saw online that a rug company was having a half off sale, so she figured that was her signal to finally replace it.

She got one that fit the vintage look of the room, but she also got a neutral color to make it easy to do photo sessions here. It may not be the best rug ever, but it’s the perfect rug for us! I’m pretty happy with it.

Flower Crown Portraits

Remember the post where I matched different dresses with my flower crown? It was such a nice day that my human took me around to different parts of the front yard for some photos au naturel. Here are some of the nicer ones we got. No secret messages…although I probably could have added a few!

Of course, I let my human know when I was done posing!

A Few Therapy Cat Surprises at Assisted Living

I got to visit my assisted living friends today, which I always love but wow! It was noisy today. Construction people were banging around in the lobby area. Loud noises aren’t scary to me, but they do hurt my sensitive kitty ears, so my human covered them up until the banging was far behind us.

Just as we were entering the big room, we saw one of our regulars. He used to be more present, but he’s been slowly fading. He still recognized me, though, and happily petted me.

The next person I saw was the high five lady. She had a blanket in her lap, and I always love that, so I settled in and laid down for a while. That surprised her because I’d never done that before…but she’d never had a blanket on her lap before either! While I was visiting her, someone tapped my human from behind, and said hi, and it was the nonverbal woman! Or at least we thought she was nonverbal because this was the first time my human and I had ever heard her speak.

I visited lots of familiar faces. One woman was crying a little. I don’t know why, but I sat next to her for a while. Then another of our regulars waved us over and gave me a couple of pets (that’s all she ever does). And I saw my elderly friend who tells me she loves me. She was sitting with her friend who she’s often with.

Finally my human took me over to visit my nonverbal friend, and I spent a long time with her while she heavily rested her hand on me and petted me. She’s a very nice lady, if a bit of a mystery, and it was a nice way to end the visit.

Dressing Up My Flower Crown

Everybody loves my flower crown! And I have several dresses that go with it. So I thought I’d try them all on to see which one works the best. You be the judge!

First up is my 60s hippie dress. I had this one before the flower crown. In fact, this dress is the reason my human got it for me.

This tie-dye hippie dress, I think, has more of a 70s feel. Like post-Woodstock. Maybe someone who remembers those days can tell me for sure.

This one isn’t a hippie dress, but it works really well with the flower crown. I bet you could imagine me dancing around a May pole in it!

Watch Me Chase Treats in Party Dresses!

Remember the video where I got to chase treats in my fluffy dresses? I loved it so much, we did it again, only this time I wore some party dresses! Here’s a sneak preview of what I wore:

My pink hand-me-down party dress that I got from Coco the Couture Cat.

I wore this dress one New Year’s Eve.

I wore this 1980s party dress for 2020’s Cat World Domination Day celebration!

And I finished up with this fancy party dress! It weighed more than the other dresses did.

Mostly Tongue-Out Outtakes

Yes, I have quite a few tongue-out photos in this week’s selection of outtakes!

Here’s a tiny tongue peeking out.

I don’t know why I look so unenthused about posing with this gift bag from the event at Crumbs and Whiskers cat cafe!

And why I’m sticking my tongue out at the mini fan is another mystery.

When we were shooting the video and photos for this post, my human tried to get some shots from the other side of my wardrobe rack. Unfortunately none of them worked out, and this was the only one that was remotely presentable.

And I’m ending on a sour note with this photo of me grimacing while eating a treat!

Morning Visit With the Peach Kitty

I a morning visit with the peach kitty. It’s been pretty hot here this week, and even though it was early, it was already starting to get warm. My human thought it would be a nice day to wear the dress I picked out to model the other day.

He was already close by so it didn’t take long for him to come over.

He always spends a few moments hanging out with me.

And yes, he did check out my dress!

It was nice, just hanging out outside.

And of course the peach kitty got treats.

It really was a pretty morning! But we weren’t alone.

His mom was there too! Can you see her on the wall behind him?

She’s very suspicious of my human, so she never gets very close.

It was time to go back inside, but I didn’t mind. I like being inside on hot days. The peach kitty napped in the enclosed patio for most of the afternoon. Even though it’s not air conditioned, I think it gave him a bit of shelter.
