Check Out My Tricks, Fashion and Fun in My August Compilation!

I had a very active and fashionable August! So you’ll see lots of both in my latest compilation.
I had a triple trick challenge! Plus a lot of other fun activities, with and without dressing up.
And of course I had a cat show, and you can see the highlights from that.
And although I saw the peach kitty a few times, my human only put together video for one of our visits, and of course you’ll find it included.
You can see the compilation below. As always, it’s divided into chapters so you can flip back and forth to the videos you want to see most.

Caturday Photo Fails

It’s time for this week’s photo flubs, and I think you will agree that none of these bad examples of photography are my fault! And that the blame is totally on my human and her phone or camera.
Let’s face it, this was totally bad timing on the part of the photographer.
And yeah, maybe I did move out of my spot. But she was the one who moved the camera and made it blurry.
And why did she take a photo of me when I wasn’t even facing the camera?
I couldn’t even figure out why she took this photo until I realized the blur in the lower right hand corner is my tiara falling off.
I wonder if she got the hint that I was done with this session, or if she just gave up on her own.
And lastly, I have to admit that sometimes even with outtakes, she can nail it. For example, this perfectly-in-focus tongue out shot.
I hope you enjoyed these! If you have a favorite, let me know in the comments.

The Most Random Therapy Cat Visit Ever

Normally when I visit the big hospital, it’s pretty routine. I have specific areas that I visit. And I did go to those. But it turned out to be pretty random!
The afternoon began at the Cancer Center, where one younger woman was getting an infusion. Usually the patients there are older middle aged or even seniors, but she was probably in her 30s. While I hung out on the pillow on her lap, another woman showed up who looked a lot like her! My human asked if they were sisters, but they were friends. Longtime friends from high school, in fact!
Then we headed to Pediatrics, and on the way, a young woman with a walker saw us and started chatting. She wanted to know all about me and the therapy pet program. My human really enjoyed explaining it all to her.
Then, when the elevator doors to Pediatrics opened, a big group of staff in scrubs came out! And they were all so happy to see me! So I visited with them for a little while before going to Peds. Unfortunately, the only patient there was an infant who was in isolation. So my human stopped by the Residents Workroom, and they were overjoyed to have some kitty company.
After a brief stop at Labor and Delivery, we headed for Behavioral Medicine. This visit is required on Thursdays, whereas we just cover as much of the other wings as we can. I had a full activity room of patients this time — a woman in a wheelchair, a pretty but sad looking girl who cheered up a little during the visit, a very talkative guy who liked me a lot, and a middle-aged woman who couldn’t stop petting me. It was a nice visit.
Except for Behavioral Medicine, nothing about this visit was all that routine!

Watch Me Pick the Cat Toy the Peach Kitty Stole!

Remember my shopping day, where I found the toy that the peach kitty ran off with? There was video of my shopping trip, and I thought I’d share it you in a very fun way!
You get to see me shopping and visiting with people.
And all the usual stuff like checking out the toys.
But you also get to see the exact moment when I found his toy! I think you’ll enjoy it.

Light Play Turret Photos

The turret has three windows that create some interesting light effects in the afternoon. So my human decided to do some photos that took advantage of that. She’s done it before, but this time she planned it out a little bit more.
Here’s what the light looked like before my human started adjusting the camera settings and moving me to specific parts of the turret. She darkened it a little for dramatic effect, but as you can see, there’s nothing particularly unusual about it.
All it took to change up the look completely was have me face a different direction and adjust the camera settings.
Now here comes the cool part. The windows have leaded glass that create these unusual light patterns. So my human wanted to have me pose to show off both me and the patterns.
By placing me a little closer to the camera, she was able to capture the pattern and even have some of the effects land on me too.
Here’s a photo from farther back.
Then we had to wait a while for the light pattern to crawl farther up the wall. This shot was actually harder to do than you’d think. My human had to balance exposing me and the light pattern so you could see us both equally.
And here is the turret window that cast the light!
So did you like these? Let me know what you thought in the comments.

Which Dress Best Matches My Necklace?

I’ve had this crystal heart necklace for several months now and never figured out which dress to pair it with. So I’m going to do that now.
This is one of my simpler princess dresses, and I think it works really nicely.
It goes well with this pink and tulle dress too.
Even though this is a princess dress, the ringers around the neck and arm holes give it a casual feel. So I don’t think it goes well with a crystal necklace.
I thought this princess dress, on the other hand, was too fancy! And too busy. It kind of overwhelmed the necklace, which is sort of dainty.
In the end, my human and I agreed that the first dress was the best, so along with the necklace, I matched it with a tiara too!
So what do you think? Was this the best choice, or did you like one of the others better? Let me know in the comments!

What the Peach Kitty Did With His New Cat Toy

You won’t believe what happened when my human brought out the new cat toy that we got the peach kitty.
It took a while for him to show up. It’s been really hot here, and all the feral cats take cover and only come out at night when the temperature’s lower.
At first he was kind of scared of it. He even ran away when my human tried to entice him to play.
So my human got him to come back with some treats. Then she tried it again.
He was still sort of scared of it…and then you won’t believe what happened!
I will just say I was pretty annoyed! You can see the whole thing in the video below (make sure you stay til the end).
Do you think my human should continue getting him toys? Let me know in the comments!

This Week’s Funny Photo Flubs

It’s time for photo flubs! And I do have some very funny ones for you this week.
I think the hat for this costume had a mind of its own.
I told you it was hard to stay in character for this goth photo session.
A therapy cat always looks forward to those after visit treats!
It’s never a real outtake post without at least one really unflattering photo of me.
And that’s it for this week’s outtakes! If you have a favorite, let me know in the comments.

Astro Kitty on Video!

You remember my astro kitty costume, right? Well, you know there had to be video…and there was!
My human shot photos around the video, and sometimes both at the same time (there’s apparently a camera function for that). She wanted to inconvenience me as little as possible.
It all went pretty quicky!
I hope you enjoy the video below. In spite of the silly costume, it still was pretty fun!

Broken Bones and Warm Hearts on This Therapy Cat Visit

I had a therapy visit at the children’s hospital, but the first patients I saw weren’t kids — it was staff! I enjoyed visiting with them at the front desk, and then my human and I headed to the exam rooms.
The rooms were pretty busy this time! Lots of kids were getting casts looked at. It seemed like there were a bunch of broken wrists and arms on this visit. I had lots of fun giving out high fives and paw shakes, although usually with the non-injured hand.
There is one small corridor in the exam area containing four rooms where the cast techs do their magic. I saw teen boys in two of the rooms and a girl in the third. My human is always a little surprised and happy when the older boys want to see me. That’s actually more common than you would think.
A cast tech was busy working on the second boy’s arm, and it was obvious that it was kind of painful. One of my big jobs is actually pain management — I sort of help take the patient’s mind off unpleasant procedures. I think I did help this one a little.
Another thing I do is keep young patients occupied when things are going on that don’t concern them. In one room, two boys surrounded me, wanting to see my tricks. Meanwhile, their mother discussed some complicated insurance paperwork with one of the hospital’s staff.
Not everybody was getting a cast. One little girl I saw had two artificial legs, and the sockets had Disney kitties printed on them. So of course she was totally delighted to see me. I think she and the boy getting the painful cast were my favorite patients of the day.
Of course not every moment of my visits are delightful! One mom couldn’t help picking me up and cuddling me, even though my human warned her I’d get a little squirmy. And on the way back through the lobby, some kids were playing and being a bit loud and rowdy. That made it hard to visit a shy little girl in the princess dress we saw. But it was still a good visit with so many nice moments.
