The Peach Kitty Got His New Catnip Toy! And…

Somali cat sitting in the enclosed patio

We’ve been pretty busy here for the past couple of weeks! But my human did manage to give the peach kitty the catnip toy we bought him last time we visited the pet shop.

Just to refresh your memory, it was this one!

Feral peach cat coming into enclosed patio to greet Somali cat

First he came into the enclosed patio and visited with me for a few minutes.

And then my human presented him with the toy. He wasn’t too sure about it at first!

So my human let me have it for a few minutes to show him there was nothing suspicious about it.

After that, he slowly approached it, and…you’ll have to see the video! Make sure to stick around til the end. It’s a good thing my human is relatively limber!

The Cutest Halloween Cat Decor Picks from Etsy!

Summer shares some of the cutest Halloween cat decor picks from Etsy - everything from wall hangings and prints to pillows to cat beds.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure I was going to do a roundup of Etsy Halloween decor this year. But then my human took a look at what they had to offer — and she was totally enchanted! And I think you will be too when you see these picks.

Note: I am an Etsy affiliate, and if you make a purchase using these links below, I will get a small commission. Thank you for your support!

I don’t know about you, but my human has a soft spot for these suncatchers, and she especially liked this Halloween themed black cat on a pumpkin. It comes in sizes from 3″ to 12″ and is made by hand of high quality stained glass. The colors are embedded in the glass, not painted.

Spooky Cute Halloween Throw Blanket

Halloween Model Mishaps

Summer has another Halloween model session...but this one resulted in a number of mishaps during the photo shoot.

My human wanted to do a Halloween session where we played around with a few different props and looks. But not all of them worked out that well!

Somali cat in black cauldron looking at skull cat toy

The first magical mishaps were these skull toys. We never could figure out a fun and creative way for me to model with them.

Somali cat looking at another skull toy

These are supposed to be toys, not modeling props, after all.

Somali cat wearing a witch had and sitting in a cauldron

So instead of the skull toys, we just used the cauldron and different looks.

Somali cat wearing orange witch hat and sitting in cauldron

This hat was fun and witchy so we tried that.

Somali cat in witch hat emerging from cauldron

Keeping me in the cauldron was another thing altogether.

Somali cat wearing black witch hat and cape in cauldron

My human wanted some shots of me wearing the hat and cape because they looked like they went together.

It turned out to be a good look with the cauldron, but by then we weren’t feeling creative anymore! So we will just have to play around with different lighting and poses another day.

Posing For Fall Portraits…With Supervision!

Summer does some posing outside for fall portraits...but she also has some supervision while she's doing it.

Since we just had the autumn equinox, my human took me outside for some fall portraits.

Somali cat sitting on a concrete wall and looking up

But we weren’t alone! I had a supervisor!

Feral peach cat in backyard

Of course it was him. He came up for some treats a couple of times, but mostly he hung back and kept an eye on us from a distance.

Occasionally he’d look out over his domain.

Eventually we came back up, over to the bridge steps for some more photos.

It was kind of overcast, so my human brought out a small cordless light to add a little bit of a kick.

It’s not much, but it did brighten up the photos.

Here’s a profile shot.

The peach kitty didn’t seem that impressed with the light set up!

Healing Purrs…and a Little Magic

On her latest therapy cat visit to the children's hospital, Summer offers up healing purrs, and a little magic, to a variety of kids.

My therapy cat visits are always special. But sometimes they are truly extraordinary, and this visit to the children’s hospital was one of them.

It started early on as my human and I walked through the lobby. A little girl with her arm in a sling was sitting next to her mom, and they both wanted to see me. So my human set me on a table and had me ring a bell and do a high five. Both the girl and mom were really delighted, and the little girl was excited to be able to pet me. So I gave her a headbutt too, which is something I don’t do often. The mom told my human that their apartment doesn’t allow pets so seeing me was a real treat.

I had lots of great visits in the exam rooms too. One of the girls was sitting on the couch with her legs stretched out, covered by a blanket. A wheelchair sat off to the side. At first her mother didn’t know what we wanted (English wasn’t her first language). But once she understood, my human brought me over and set me on the couch next to the girl. So I snuggled down on the blanket next to her legs and started purring really loudly and making happy paws. Then I started rubbing my face on her shoes. The girl told my human that she really wanted a cat but her mom didn’t really like them and was kind of allergic. So we were really glad to spend time with her.

We had quite a few more patients, including a girl in the Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services. We might have missed her, but a nurse hunted us down to let us know she had requested to see me. She sat on an exam table, with her prosthetic leg off to the side. So I sat next to her and gave her high fives.

We had a few more minutes so we went up to the surgery area. After I said hello to the nurse staff (they love me!), I visited with a teenage boy. He was post op but conscious and awake enough to enjoy me. I rarely sit with these patients, since they are just on gurney beds, but I got the okay for him. His mom joked that his cat at home might get jealous. I hung out with the boy while his mom and my human chatted. Eventually his mom started showing photos of their two cats at home. Then one of the anesthesiologists showed up and wanted to see me too! It was like a kitty party in the post op room.

It’s so nice to know that you are brightening everyone’s day. It makes yours better too.

Cat Cam Surprise!

When a brand sent Summer a cat cam, her human set it up in the enclosed patio to capture the peach kitty...and got a big surprise!

I had the opportunity to do a short video for this cat cam on one of my social media accounts. So it was a big deal when it arrived.

Somai cat with her paw on freshly opened cat cam

As you can see, there wasn’t much to it. It just needed to be plugged in and hooked up to the wifi. But of course we weren’t going to use it to spy on me. I mean, my human is almost always here, and a lot of times when she goes out, I go with her.

Somali cat sitting on counter of enclosed patio

Nope! We set it up on the enclosed patio so we could spy on the peach kitty! And it’s been pretty cool seeing him come and go when we’re not out there.

Strange cat on enclosed patio

But we also have had a couple of surprises! Like, we have no idea who this cat is. You can see some recordings in the video below.

Outtakes Where I Lost the Vibe

Summer shares some funny outtakes this week, where she was meant to reflect one sort of vibe but totally missed the mark.

Welcome to this week’s outtakes! And they show how, sometimes in spite of my best modeling efforts, I just lose the vibe.

Somali cat with glamorous hat set awkwardly on her head

This hat looked super cool in the original photos, but it took a while to figure out how to set it right on my head.

Somali cat with paw on resin book decor and making a face

I don’t exactly look cool and mysterious here, do I?

Somali cat with paw in the air and looking at human hand

My human wanted me to wave my paw in the air like I was casting a spell. But I just look like I want a treat.

Somali cat in her cat show enclosure, with her tongue out

In spite of the raspberry, I really did enjoy myself at the show!

Somali cat with tongue out, with feral peach cat in the background

Funny enough, here I am with the peach kitty, and my tongue is in nearly the same position!

And that’s the end of this week’s outtakes! I hope you enjoyed them. If you have a favorite, let me know in the comments.

Matching My Necklace With Princess Dresses (Video!)

A while back, Summer paired her pretty crystal necklace with princess dresses. There was also a charming video, and she is sharing it now.

Do you recall a few weeks ago, I paired several princess dresses with this necklace? My human also shot video, but she only got around to editing it now! I was beginning to think she’d forgotten about it…and maybe she had!

Somali cat wearing a pink and tulle princess dress with necklace

You actually don’t get to see me modeling all the dresses you saw in the previous blog post. One wound up on the cutting room floor. (Not this one!)

Close up of Somali cat with princess dress and necklace

Actually, after looking at the video of all the outfits, it only confirmed my choice of the best dress and necklace combo.

There may have been a tiara snafu, but you’ll have to see the video to find out.

Halloween Cat Portraits

Summer and her human return to the turret to create some moody - and cute! - Halloween cat photos with better lighting.

My human really liked the photos she did of me for yesterday’s Halloween decor picks. But she knew she could do better with just a little more preparation. When we do round ups like the previous post, a lot of times the session for the photo to accompany it is just thrown together. So it actually didn’t take much more preparation to make a big difference!

Somali cat in Halloween outfit with her head tilted slightly to the left

I tried a few different poses.

Somali cat in Halloween setting with paw raised

My human wanted me to touch the book but we never quite got it right. We still got some interesting shots.

Somali cat with Halloween book decor and witch hat over one eye.

We also did some vertically oriented shots. The best ones had the witch hat tilted on my head so it mostly covered one eye.

Somali cat posing in Halloween setting with her head slightly tilted

This photo and the next one are really, really similar and my human couldn’t decide which one she liked better. At first she preferred the above photo, but the one below started to grow on her. It’s something about the direction I’m looking.

So what do you think? Did you think this session worked out? Let me know your favorites out of the bunch — I’m really curious to know!

Decorate for Halloween With Cat-Themed Decor from Wayfair

Summer shares her Halloween cat themed decor picks from Wayfair - including a couple of items especially for the family feline.

I just recently became a Wayfair affiliate (so if you click on any links below I will get a small commission)! And they have some fun Halloween decor, so I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.

Black Cat and Moon Battery-Operated Lighted Wall Banner
Black Cat and Moon Battery-Operated Lighted Wall Banner

This festive and spooky cloth banner is adored with amber led lights to add ambiance. It’s a nice sized 15″x25″ so it will fit in a variety of places in your home.

Cosmos Gifts Vampire and Dracula Cat Salt and Pepper Shaker Set

These 3.38″ high cat bat and catula shakers are way more cute than scary! In fact, they’ll be pretty adorable on your dining table.

Cute Trick or Treat Costumed Cat Figurines (Set of 3)
Cute Trick or Treat Costumed Cat Figurines (Set of 3)

Maybe Catula and BatCat can make room for these three 5″ cuties! They’re made of polyresin and probably won’t bring any mischievous tricks to your table or counter.

Black Cat With Ouija Board Figurine

Maybe you want a kitty that’s a little more mystical? Here’s one that’s ready to summon some spirits for you! Hand painted and made of resin, this guy is 7.5″H x 7″ L x 6″ deep.

Vintage Halloween Cat Framed Wooden Print

Here’s a vintage look piece of wall art that’s sweet at the same time! This whimsical black kitty is on a solid piece of wood with a walnut frame. It comes in four sizes, from 8″H x 5″W all the way up to 36″H x 24W.

Black Cats and Bats Throw Pillow

Here’s an 18″ x 18″ decorative throw pillow that adds a playful touch to your comfy chair or sofa. These bright eyed black cats will brighten up any room!

Cat Sitting in Pumpkin Inflatable

There were a couple different Halloween cat inflatables, but this one was the cutest! It’s 5’H x 4’W x 3.5′ D, so it’s a good size without being overwhelmingly huge. If you’re having a party or expecting to greet trick or treaters, you’ll love having this kitty in your yard.

And of course, I had to include a couple of Halloween items for your cat! Here’s the best of what I saw:

Pumpkin Cat Scratcher Bed With Toy Mouse
Pumpkin Cat Scratcher Bed With Toy Mouse

Here’s a pumpkin your cat can carve on their own — or at least sharpen their claws on! At 16″ wide, it’s a cozy size for small and medium sized cats and will give them a place to hide from all the Halloween bustle.

44.5'' Black and Red Gothic Halloween Cat Tree
44.5″ Black Red Gothic Halloween Cat Tree

Here’s a cat tree that celebrates the Halloween spirit, but if you enjoy all things mysterious and goth, you and your cat will want it as a year round play area!

So did you like my picks? Tell me in the comments and let me know your favorites!
