Results of Ancient DNA Research Dead Sea Scrolls

Scientists question the accuracy of ancient DNA taken from archaeological sites since it is contaminated by decay and elements like bacteria. But researchers recently decided to test the skins on which some Dead Sea Scrolls are written to try to identify their source of origin. The results may help to piece together their mystery.

One of the samples resulted in a match for cattle hide. Cattle remains have been found in archaeological sites at Jericho and Gezer. Josephus wrote that the re...

Coin Found in Jerusalem Promoting Israel's Freedom

Recently a 2,000 year old coin found in Jerusalem from the Bar Kochba revolt era has been revealed to the public. The inscription on the coin is interesting. On its face it reads "Year Two of the Freedom of Israel” and has a cluster of grapes.

The back side depicts a palm tree and says Jerusalem. The coin is unique because it is the only coin found so far that is connected to the revolt and has "Jerusalem" on it. Of course it is important that it was discovered...

America and China: Is God Essential?

Here in America many ministries have actually increased their influence during the quarantine through the internet. China appears to be afraid of the same thing happening in their country.

They shut down Zoom services for Easter and went as far as turning off electricity to church members' homes. The Chinese government requires all churches to register with a bureau that has ties to the police. The church that was shut down did not register and suffers persecution because of their...

We Are More Closely Related Than First Thought

Have you had your DNA tested to find out your ancestry?

I have and there were a couple surprises- like Middle Eastern traces in the mix. Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson is a creation scientist studying the human genome. His research has led him to conclude we are more closely related than we think and the world is a lot smaller than we thought.

You can listen to his first lecture here on the Answers in Genesis channel. I highly recommend his lectures along with our book Noah which talks about the Uruk...

Ancient Pigs Point to Noah

Noah is thought to be a man of myth and his life story concerning the flood a bogus creation story. But discoveries in anthropology, archaeology and zooarchaeology have produced some interesting evidence for Christian believers.

A recent article on the American Schools of Oriental Research website discussed the origin of ancient pigs. The article supports evolution but take a look where they've found the earliest pigs. It is in the region of Turkey and near the Syrian border, the area...

How Misunderstanding God's Sovereignty Can Keep You Sick

Recently I read a discussion on the verbs used in Exodus 15:26. The discussion was between those holding an extreme sovereignty view and others wondering if the Hebrew language has a permissive tense for verbs. Dr. Robert Young the author of Young's Literal Translation of the Holy Bible claimed there was such a tense in the Hebrew and others have insisted there isn't.

The root of the topic, perhaps thorn is a better word, concerned the idea of God's sovereignty and His...

Assyrian Rock Carvings Discovered

Last fall, 3,000 year old Assyrian rock carvings were unearthed in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The discovery is an important one and a long awaited triumph. The stones were first seen in 1970, surveyed in 2012, but then were hidden before ISIS moved in. After Mosul was cleared, archaeologists got back to work.

They believe Sargon is depicted on the relief with the gods and goddesses of Assyria.

Sargon is mentioned in Isaiah 20:1. Why just once? The real question is why was he...

Why Your Church Needs Apologetics

Many Christians shy away from sharing their faith because the person they talk to may reject them. It's a possibility, even for those experienced in evangelism. Just ask Todd White. The waitress he talked to reprimanded him and walked away. It is her God given privilege to make that choice.

It is a choice we may be seeing more of here in the US. In the last post, we talked about the rising numbers of atheists, but in this one I want to talk about another growing demographic called...

Egyptian Mummy DNA Supports Biblical History

A recent study has solved a 200 year old mystery. Well, only one mystery which then led to another the experts will probably never solve.

The mummy of an Egyptian woman named Takabuti from the 25th Dynasty shows evidence she was murdered. Stabbed in the back to be more precise. Among the many unique aspects of Takabuti's mummy is her proposed DNA. It seems she is genetically related to Europeans.

This discovery only adds to previous findings that ancient Egyptians were...
