Do You Have Enough Faith to Walk Through Water?

When the Israelites stood watching Pharaoh's army advance, they melted in fear. Surrounded by desert and faced with the sea, they began to doubt. Freak out may be a better visual. But God already had a way of escape planned. They just needed to do what He said. Move on.

Years later when Joshua stood on the banks of the Jordan at flood stage, he told the priests carrying the ark to step into the water. Rushing water met their eyes and ears but faith in God's command moved them to put both fee...

3 Tips For A Successful Homeschool

Homeschool has begun. Learning is fresh, materials new and the promise of learning bright.
I feel the sighs of relief from harried moms. But I, as a retired homeschooling mom of five, want to help you last through the year ahead still confident when the learning and the schedule become a grind.

To begin, answer this question: why do you homeschool?

I would bet that most of your reasons are not rooted in academics but character development and worldview. Emphasizing academics will produce kno...

#Sneak Peek Is Jesus God?

Here is an excerpt from the study Is Jesus God?I hope to have it ready for publication early 2017.

Celebrities attract attention. So do the unconventional. When a man appears on the scene doing what Jesus did and teaching what Jesus taught, people naturally wanted to know more about Him. “Who are you?” was the question on their minds. Jesus was quick to answer, but His replies were met with more questions. Could He be saying what they thought He was saying?

This brings us to an interesting...

Socialism's Search for God

In Luke 12:31-32, Jesus tells us to “...seek the kingdom” and then encourages us further by saying, “Do not be afraid...your Father [is] pleased to give you the kingdom.” (NIV)

But what is the Kingdom?

It is a place of total reliance on God. Jesus said the Kingdom is at hand and set out to demonstrate how it worked. He taught, “Have faith in God,” (Mark 11:22 is one example) for health, for peace, for prosperity and for success. We are to ask, Jesus taught, because we will receive.

The s...

Did you know, according to research done by  James Chapman, the number one most read book in the world is the Bible? Some may argue it is the koran. But today is #NationalBookLover'sDay, and since I love the #Bible, I decided to celebrate with a Bible quiz. Hey, I am a teacher...

What Christians Can Learn From a Fisherman

Fishing poles line the shore, flashing in the setting sun. Tattooed dads, some young, some not, with sweating cans of pop at their side, hunker down by sons and daughters, casting and recasting, and patiently, some not, untangling the lines of their newbie offspring.

One mom, sporting a turquoise baby sling on her shoulders and a wine red ponytail wields her pole like a pro. But in vain it seems.

Fish are jumping beyond their casts, sending rings floating under the breasts of a family of Ca...

When Being Moderate Is Bad Taste

Concerning diet and exercise, moderation is the buzz word right now. What a relief. I can walk a mile with my dog and not feel guilty because I didn’t run it. I can enjoy a Coke on the weekend without fretting that I’ve poisoned my system for life.

Moderation is good when it comes to spending money too— and talking, and being on social media, and landscaping your yard. (The last one is for me.) Marriage is also an area where being moderate is handy, think easy-going, willing to compromise.

Black Lives Matter and the Cherokee Wolves

Hannah House Native Outreach recently shared a link about a Cherokee grandfather talking to his grandson. It is a conversation illustrating the liability of choice by feeding a good wolf or a bad wolf.

Clarence Thomas, speaking at Hillsdale College’s Commencement ceremony also relates a conversation that he had with his grandfather.

“I often wondered why my grandparents remained such model citizens, even when our country’s failures were so obvious. In the arrogance of my early adult life, I...
