Thursday, 25th of June -- The quote from NEMESIS -- many of you freaked because you believed Sherlock was dead. Upon rereading it, I can see how you could reach that conclusion. Let me state: SHE IS NOT DEAD -- she just made it through something very scary -- Never will I kill either of them, NEVER -- so stop worrying -- some of you asked when NEMESIS is out -- 7th of July --
Do you know tomorrow there's going to be a party for me celebrating my 75th book? Isn't that grand! But, it's not really 75 books yet, I said, because the 75th is the new Grayson Sherbrooke novella and that's only 20% of a book. But no, these wonderful people say the novella is a plot so the length doesn't matter. There'll be Chinese plus my favorite sour cream spice cake -- be still my heart. 75 books -- that is, indeed, oodles of words. Isn't it good that you can repeat words in books?
All of you acted yesterday, I hope, if you had a problem with family, with work, whatever -- You had a good outcome -- tell me about it.

Wednesday, the 24th -- big huge gorgeous sun shining right into my eyes and there's no shade. Now, this is a challenge.
Thank you for all the positive feedback on Anametha -- I'll ask my editor to read what you've said (although I don't know her opinion on the title yet) -- Duh --
Is everyone able to enter the custom-made-for-you candle? If you have problems, holler.
Today is a day to see what you're made of. I'm not talking about sweating your eyebrows off working out, nope, this is about how you earn your living -- There is always something going on at work -- always a problem nibbling at your ear, sending your shoulders to your neck with stress -- so stop a moment and examine the problem, either a product or another person. Today, you're going to examine the problem/strife and figure out a solution. Don't be defeatist or defensive or anything else at all negative -- consider the problem, the strife, and come up with three solutions, AND ACT -- remember, life is too short to be destroyed with crap you could handle, if you set your brilliant brain to it--

About these wonderful custom made candles -- remember in NEMESIS we have a big Wiccan element and that's why we selected them. Now, if you don't happen to be one of the three people to win, you can order a candle from the occult store in NYC -- isn't this cool? Fits in perfectly with the deep caca in which Savich finds himself. So when the winners are selected, I'll post where you could get your own candle.
I still haven't read all your replies about the contest or about my post yesterday -- but I will.
Now, about the title ANATHEMA -- one of you said not enough people would be drawn in because they're not that familiar with the word and what it means, thus no impact, and a definition wouldn't cut it. I think this is a good point. I mean, if you see a title, say "BONAGBOO" and in the Pourti language is means terror, it doesn't touch you at all since you're not familiar with it. (yes, I made up the word and the language to make the point). A definition of BONAGBOO wouldn't help. So, given this, how do you react? Dump it?

Happy Summer Solstice:
Isn't it grand? We're all playing volleyball outside at ten o'clock at night. I love the summer solstice, but the very next day, I swear you can feel it in your bones that the day is shorter. So enjoy the glorious long days before the 21st. And don't forget your wild and unbridled pagan solstice dance. Consider not doing it solo.
The Outer Banks, North Carolina (OBX -- and isn't that sexy?):Thirty-five family with more and more kids appearing out of the blue. We even have a rented house called the Baby House because of all the rampant procreation. Lots of laughter and fun and shopping and the food -- be still my heart. From BBQ ribs to Pork tenderloin to a crab feast that had people lying on the floor groaning with pleasure, to the amazing desserts every single night (ten birthdays) -- You get the idea. Bottom line: When you weren't talking to yourself or family or sleeping, you were eating a meal or snacking from the huge pile of junk food. Bliss.
Thursday night was theme night: this year was Favorite Musicals. Hubby and I performed a medley of South Pacific songs and yes, we wore sailor costumes, and I wore a blond wig and hubby had sexy sailor tats on his forearms. Amazingly, we didn't make a single mistake. I didn't hear anything while performing, except my own heartbeat. Since we were first, there was lots of applause and hooting and hollering. Some of the other performances included Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago, Damn Yankees and Jungle Book (My Own Home, beautifully sung by my niece, Carol. Yeah, she's got the voice, nailed it.) Next year, the theme will be Favorite Singers.
On the 30th, the paperback POWER PLAY will be on the shelves. The 7th of July, it's the new hardcover FBI thriller -- #19 -- NEMESIS. Isn't that a great title? And guess what -- Sherlock is the Nemesis, not Savich. So gear yourself up for an FBI summer.
I'm going to ThrillerFest in NYC on July 7th and will be signing at Otto Penzler's The Mysterious Bookshop on Warren Street in Tribeca, Wednesday, July 8th, at 6:30pm. Yes, there will be wine and edibles to reward you for your long drive into the city. (Don't forget the 200 mile rule, so two glasses.) I look forward to seeing all of you there.
GO WARRIORS!

Today, the HCF, and you know what that means -- making deals with my thighs not to start pulsing after that first bite of caramel pecan cheesecake (or something like that). Forget the whipped cream, the chocolate, the crust, nope, the cheesecake itself, so Ms. Thighs, it's all a good thing and I swear you won't suffer.
And the avocado egg rolls with that yummy green whatever sauce you dip them into. Is everyone salivating yet? Then the hamburger sliders with lots of dill pickles and French's mustard -- is there a food nirvana? You bet --
One of you asked about how I determined character names -- and the story about John Sandford getting Del Capstock's name off the keyboard. I can't top that. Sorry. Sometimes the names are simply there, don't even have to think about it, then others I change upwards to three times, trying to find the right one. It's usually up to the character to accept/reject their name. I had Camilla at the beginning of the 20th FBI and that was sure a no-go. She looked at me and said, "Look, I kick butt, I'm tough, I'm dangerous, I CANNOT be Camilla." Okay, she's very happy with Cam. So it always depends.

Friday, 12th of June -- GIVEAWAY: 2 ARCs of NEMESIS: You've all seen the quote I posted yesterday on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/catherinecoulterbooks) on the cover of NEMESIS from the character Louisa Alcott -- she talks about how her mother loved her classical romances and if only the characters knew some witchcraft they wouldn't be so stupid -- Okay, to win, you'll tell me your favorite classical romance and the name of the main character who'd make fewer stupid mistakes if only he/she knew some witchcraft -- I'll pick two names. However, since I'm sure all of your entries will be clever, it will probably be more or less random -- I'll announce the two winners MONDAY -- go get to it now -- email me (readmoi@gmail.com) or post your reply on my Facebook page.
Finishing up the novella copy edits today, and that's off into publication. They sent me 5 possible covers -- I picked one, pointed out necessary tweaks. It will be exactly what I envisioned (once tweaks are done) -- and that type of cover will hallmark the series -- all is good.

Thursday, the 11th of June -- Sorry about the Brooklyn BRIDGE (as opposed to Bridge) -- that's another story entirely --
Finishing copy edit on THE END GAME today, which should make the publisher dance and sing since I had the gall to go on vacation and they had to push back the dates which always screws everything up for the pipeline assembly line in book publishing. So they're getting it a day early -- am I a team player or what? I wonder if I'll get a reward. Speaking of the copy editor wondering about whether lime trees grow in the U.K, seeJ.T. Ellison's comment on the lime tree. There's even a photo -- pretty blossom -- At this moment, J.T. is playing golf in Colorado with her dad -- yes, she kicks big butt -- beats daddy and his friends? You bet --
I'm going to have a giveaway in a week or so -- Sorry, I'm not going to tell you what it is, but cool. Think very cool, so stay tuned.
THE STRANGE VISITATION AT WOLFFE HALL, first novella in the Grayson Sherbrooke series, will be out early August. I just got the copy edited manuscript back and will dive in when I finish The End Game. There'll also be an audio of the novella -- isn't this fun?!

10th of June -- rainy Wednesday -- yep, that's right, there's some rain going outside my window -- the cats don't like it because it means their walkabouts are put off until it stops, but the trees and plants and yards are all singing and raising their vines, flowers, leaves, and grass arms heavenward, chanting, keep going, keep going --
More copy editing on THE END GAME -- it's going well, and I have to admit it, I do enjoy it -- the copy editor is very good and I do get a kick out of some of his/her queries like do lime trees grow in the UK and can you really get over the Brooklyn Bride in 10 minutes? Always fun --
I got the covers for the paperback POWER PLAY -- just like the hardcover -- It's on sale the 24th -- I'll be sending you a hopefully very cute and very short notice.

The excitement is overwhelming, I mean, so much work to do, like all that swimming in the heated pool, being tossed around in the ocean, once you get used to the zero temperature, lying on a chaise, occasionally applying suntan lotion, then there's so little food, have to go scavenging every day --
Oh yes, I believe today is somewhere around the middle of the week, maybe the 3rd of, what. June.

The 29th -- yet another Friday, but this one is the Friday before the Outer Banks, out early manana -- what fun that will be. Expecting upwards to 35 family (kid count is variable, so who knows?) Alas, some can't come for various reasons and that's always sad.
We have three houses: the Big House (I think it's the largest house on the island and gorgeous), the Dog House (for those who bring pets) and the Baby House (for those who insist on procreating) -- everyone congregates at the big house for dinner, and well, usually, everyone is in and out of the big house most of the time since we're right on the beach, gorgeous swimming pool, volleyball court, big cookout deal and bar -- I'll send photos and say hi if I can get the wifi to smile upon me, which it doesn't like to do usually. Every night a different family prepares dinner -- so you only have to umph yourself one night during the week. Yummy food. 12 birthdays, and I always ask what the birthday guy/gal/kid wants and provide it. Presents, singing, such fun --
Today, it's finish getting stuff together, working out like a demon since it'll be only walks on the beach for a week, and all that blasted little stuff that must be done before you go anywhere or you'll be doomed. And a rule that I always try to follow: You lay out all the clothes you want to take THEN you remove 40% -- it always works when you manage to force yourself to do it. This applies to guys as well --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
