Still dark 5th of January -- I mean really dark, like there's nothing but a black bowl surrounding the house -- no stars, no hint that there is still life in the sky.
Today is lots of stuff -- you know the kind of thing you have to do, no choice, so it isn't worth it to whine or try to make excuses to get out of it (no way) -- and you're dependent on other people to make things happen -- don't you hate not being in control?

NewYear's Eve: Even when I was young and stupid and ready to try anything, you name it, I never really liked big parties with lots of booze and the countdown to midnight and the new year. Although all the dancing was fun.l Hmm, maybe I need to rethink my memories.
These year-changing nights, it's still more or less the same, only now, watching the ball drop in New York, yawning, a glass of pro-forma champagne and off to dream in the new year.
Whatever you do tonight, do it with enthusiasm, joy, and enjoy the sharing with those you love. Don't get drunk, you want to enjoy all the bowl games tomorrow and the good food.

30th of December, Wednesday -- when it hits the 30th, your primal self knows the end is near -- it changes how you think, somehow, don't you agree? If you're not sure, stop a moment and think about the difference between how you felt about yesterday the 29th and how you feel today the 30th. It's like a low rumble and your body knows something's coming and it's nearly here. No, not scary, but it's still a bit unsettling. Do you know what I mean or do you think I'm psychologically challenged?
Don't you hate calendars that don't have at least January of the next year?
The winner of the football pool for the 2015 season: Usually, the winner gets his/her pick of books but I'm thinking instead of a 2016 cat calendar -- I've done cat calendars for 15 years now. This one is particularly cute -- what do you guys think?

Beginning of the final week of 2015 -- amazing -- December 28th: -- The gorgeous design below is Bobbette (forget that final "r" that slipped in there when I wasn't looking) I hope you enjoy looking at it -- I will enjoy wearing it, thank you, Bobbette.
FOOTBALL yesterday: I should have been 4-0 but both the Patriots and the Panthers fell. As my dad used to say when I was a little girl, "Any team can win on any given Sunday" -- he's right. so I ended up 2-2 with a score to date of: 41-23. Not great, but not sucky. Did all of you who picked the Patriots and Panthers expect that?
Can you imagine, it was 75 degrees on Christmas in New Jersey. To see people running around in flip flops and shorts and others in boots and jackets, sweating off their eye brows, it was amazing.

17th of December, huge wonderful Thursday, a day you start humming, whistling, singing Christmas carols while you're driving, while you're watching floor numbers in the elevator, while you're walking down the street -- don't do it when you're running or pumping iron or doing squats, you'll collapse by the third verse.
Eliminate the stress. This is how: When the alarm goes off, simply lie there for a few minutes (in the dark, alas) and plan out your day, -- one thing at a time, in the proper order -- it's like walking, one foot in front of the other, one step at a time. And when you begin that first thing on your list -- have a light bulb go off in your head that yells ENJOY -- you're alive, you're going to see family, eat wonderful food and drink champagne. And you have a full week to enjoy the prep, get presents together, and stand in front of your Christmas tree and feel blessed and grateful. Can't get much better than that -- again, simply one thing at a time and ENJOY doing each thing.

Christmas is getting closer and closer and the parties -- oh goodness, the parties, another one tomorrow night and one Saturday night --
Mailed the final three gifts yesterday priority mail, just to make sure, to Kay Hooper, Iris Johansen and Linda Howard -- All three gifts are guaranteed to HIT THE SPOT (Iris and Kay picked theirs out, and in a way, so did Linda, only she didn't realize it at the time).
Kitters are happy and running around, but they don't get into the trees or the gifts or any decorations -- is this amazing, or what?

15th of December, Tuesday, the day after I finished my edit on Insidious -- that sucker ended up being 575 pages -- Let me tell you that's a whole lot of words. So, here's the big question -- What am I going to do today? I know, I know, that's pretty pathetic, and actually I already know -- I'm going to toss around ideas (that is, write them down) for the new novella with Grayson Sherbrooke and his otherworldly mysteries -- such fun.
Gorgeous day today, lots of sun, which means everything can dry out before the next rain comes through. There's lots of snow in the Sierra, things are looking up drought-wise. But the Central Valley -- what's the situation there?
If you always want to know what your weather is and who your football team is playing on Sunday, get ALEXA on your Christmas list, that's the "Siri" like device from Amazon. You call out Alexa, then ask your question. It is very cool. Alexa's answer to What is the meaning of life? 42, of course.

Amazing Friday here again. I have a treat for you. All the wonderful authors who were here for the party on Wednesday sent me their own personal favorite book they've written to date, so if by any wild chance you haven't yet read them, you don't have to fumble around about what to read first. These are their favorites and they represent every genre:
Allison Brennan - Notorious
Tracy Grant - The Mayfair Affair
Brenda Novak - This Heart of Mine
Barbara Freethy - Don't Say A Word
Nyree Belleville - The Look of Love
Anne Mallory - Three Nights of Sin
Veronica Wolff - Blood Fever
Catherine Coulter - Beyond Eden
Monica McCarty - The Raider
Deborah Coonts - Lucky Break
Carol Grace - The Billionaire's Bride
(I went around the table so you can compare to the faces in the photo)
Party here today -- BIG HUGE FUN! Chinese plus 5 different desserts -- and presents, scads of presents, going to take a long time to open, so I'm thinking, maybe a different dessert every once in a while to prevent hand strain from unwrapping --
The Cardinals beat the Vikings last night -- actually, the Vikings did an excellent job of beating themselves -- three -- count them -- three turnovers plus one at the end so no chance to tie the game and go to overtime. Sorry, I don't know where I got the Browns were playing last night -- synapse collapse. The Cardinals are now in the play-offs --
All of you, I want you to celebrate Friday -- you don't have to sample 5 different desserts, all you have to do is every little while, look at all your work buddies, your family, your kids, grandkids, friends, and tell them how great they are and you are so lucky they're in your life -- what's even better? It's true. It's nice to say it and nice to hear it every once in a while, right?

December 10th -- Thursday -- Great Christmas Party yesterday -- here's the deal. All the photos I took were sucky, the lighting made everything too dark, so you see the people, but not their faces very well. I've asked the authors to post here any photos they took, the only stipulation is that you have to be able to tell who's who. Great fun -- Such bright, beautiful, talented folk -- If I can't get a photo to tag for you, I'll simply list out all their names tomorrow and what a Christmas treat for you -- if by any wild chance you haven't read one of them, you can now and I guarantee you'll enjoy yourselves.
Work today, then another Christmas party tomorrow -- lots of food, lots of gifts, lots of laughter -- what more could you ask for?
Today is, for me, cardio during the football game tonight since the day is filled to the brim with stuff. You know, the infamous stuff that's always there, waiting to suck you in, make you feel guilty if you don't do it -- so conquer all your stuff, then FOOTBALL. I do know the Browns are playing tonight, but who are they playing? I've blocked it out and if I minimize this page to go check, the chances are very good I'll lose everything, and that would suck as much as some "stuff" that's lurking.

Thursday -- we're supposed to have a HUGE storm today, but nada so far, sky is maybe tinged with a bit of black, but not all that impressive. Glad you like the photos and that you've really got things wired and ready to go for Christmas.
Tonight, I'm betting the Lions beat the Packers. But who knows who will show up for the game?
Selecting photos for my yearly cat calendar -- I'm thinking I might have this as the grand prize for whoever wins the Pro Football Pool at the end of the year --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
