Let It Be Sunday, 126!
Hello sweet friends.
This might find some of you enjoying an all-American holiday weekend, and if that is the case… I hope you’re feeling relaxed and easy and certainly not following the man in the White House on Twitter. May your watermelon be chilled. May your pool be heated. May your fireworks display have free parking. May we all enjoy this weekend in America despite the 24-hour news cycle.
I’ve been in a self-imposed friend craft-camp this week.

Notes on Homemade Ice Cream: Make it!
We’re staring lovingly at a holiday weekend and I hope that means you have some time to rest and play. I been crafting and making batch after batch of ice cream this week. Two things, not necessarily on my Summer Bucket List, but rather summery and fulfilling nonetheless. At some point I’ll show you all of the linens I’ve shibori dyed (some with more success that others), and all of the book I’ve bound.

Saltine Cracker-Brownie Ice Cream Sandwiches
I just bought a car with seat heaters.
I don’t know. It’s the middle of summer and I found myself up again the ‘you need to buy a car now’ wall and so I’m working it out, flexing my adult muscles, and troubling every car salesman deeply concerned that I’m approaching car buying without a husband by my side. It’s ok… I bought a car with seat heaters. No one talked me into it… but my future self who loves a toasty ass reminded me to get the damn seat heaters.

Let It Be Sunday, 125!
Hello sweet friends.
I’m glad you’re here. I feel lucky that you allow me to be part of your Sunday routine. We’ve got a good thing going.
Here’s a list of articles that resonated with me this week along with a photograph of a climbing vine and an old screen door. Sunday is a good day to remember that there’s beauty in the most simple of scenes.
Here we are:
• If you don’t have your head under a pillow (and I don’t blame you if you do) you might have heard that a couple of dudes hid away in a room and drafted a health care bill to replace the Affordable Care Act.

Party Time; Excellent! Snack Mix
I want you to know that I know that this is aggressive. We’re taking humble Chex Mix and kicking it into high gear… and then we’re naming it after Wayne’s World. (And then we’re buying a gun rack) (That’s a Wayne’s World joke. I don’t own a gun let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack.) (That was another Wayne’s World joke OK I’M DONE NOW MAYBE.)
I’m pretty low-maintenance in life (I bet that’s not true), but I’m pretty fancy high-maintenance when it comes to snacking.

Let It Be Sunday, 124!
Hello my friends!
Welcome to Sunday. It’s Father’s Day and I hope that means you’re spending quality time with your people. My dad is easy to laugh, the best pie maker, and he’s got a small plastic bag full of colored pens that he uses to take notes, write bills, and organize his life. That little bag of pens alone helps me feel a sense of calm and consistency in the world.

Kombucha Grapefruit Cocktail
Here I am, sidling up to your weekend with a cocktail.
We’re adding kombucha to our weekend cocktail because my girl Whitney made these Kombucha Mimosas and I thought we should all share in the splendor of Saturday cocktails + probiotics.
Juice + booch + champagne. Fine, totally fine weekend decisions, don’y you think? You can skip the juice all together and just combine kombucha and champagne (Whitney-style).

Laid Back Summer Salad with roasted tomatoes and bacon
This salad lives in that sweet spot between kitchen laziness and sincere artistic expression. Consider summer salads your opportunity to play around on a plate with vegetables et al. without having to turn on the oven or fuss over the stove. It’s food art, and really… the more croutons the better.
This salad is a play on a layered cob. Romaine lettuce leaves are washed well and left whole- saving on chopping and making this layered salad actually part taco.

Let It Be Sunday, 123!
Hello my friends,
Remember when we didn’t have a 24-hour news cycle? It wasn’t all that long ago. We had a little more time to breathe and process. There was, of course, breaking news and Peter Jennings would come on and tell us what was up in the world- we trusted it, most all of us trusted the same thing. Seems like we’re in a different cycle these days where news in constant and deafening and very two sided.

16 Of My Favorite Food and New Orleans Folk on Instagram
Hello friends!
Let’s just face it… we’re all on Instagram just scrolling and scrolling. Past weekend brunches, bachelorette parties, new puppies, lattes, sunsets… we’re seeing what all of our dear friends and strangers (we think are friends) are up to, being lightly nosey about people we don’t know, and definitely not casting an judgement at all. It’s compelling and infinite and so easy to get sucked into.
Here are a few of my favorites folks lately- the people that I’m happy to see when they pop up in my feed.
