Let It Be Sunday!
Hello dear friends. Happy Spring weekend! I hope your flower pots are blooming and your Easter eggs (if you’re into that sort of thing) are filled with jelly beans and very well hidden.
I’m headed from New Orleans to New York this Easter Sunday with my mom. We’re going to church service at St Patrick’s Cathedral (very serious) and rehearsing for my segment on the Today Show on Monday morning- I’m talking about brunch of course… it’s all I talk about.

Weeknight Chicken Chili
I’ve just now made it home from a few weeks of traveling for Over Easy and lemme tell you what’s in the refrigerator: sriracha that needs to be shaken, chicken stock paste (it’s supposed to be a paste so that’s cool), an empty ceramic egg holder, and a 6-few corn tortillas that must have the durability of cockroaches because they look perfectly fine (for lack of a better comparison).
This does not a promising dinner make.

Let It Be Sunday!
Hello dear hearts! I hope this finds you taking your Sunday slow and easy. I’m in Philadelphia spending some time and looking forward to a few days back in New Orleans soon. I’ll be making biscuits, investigating all the surfaces that Tron has turned into a scratching post in my absence, and watering the garden. These Spring days are fine, indeed. Wouldn’t you say? Sending you my love… and also these articles from around the internet:
• I feel like I’m still trying to catch up with all that is happening in Syria right now.

Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler with Cornmeal Biscuits and Honeyed Cream
I swear… as soon as we wind our clocks forward and tack that extra hour of daylight to our evenings, I’m sure it’s summer. I’m sure it’s time for a new pair of (now age appropriate) jean shorts, time for pink wine and pink sunsets, time for me to start chasing the sound of summer waves crashing on summer beaches.
Time, really… for me to hold my horses.
Because spring.

Let It Be Sunday!
Good morning Good morning! Happy Sunday!
This week found me in Seattle, all up in my sister’s ice cream kitchen. In Portland, eating some of the best pasta I’ve had in a great while. In San Francisco taking a bike tour around the Mission District and hanging with my MAJ Tracy. And… in Los Angeles, sleeping in my high school bed. It’s been filling and fun, exhausting, and I can’t seem to leave an Airbnb or city without accidentally leaving something behind.

Simple Lemon and Sage Tisane
I feel like I’ve been chasing cold, spitty early Spring rain around the country these past few weeks. From New York to Boston to Chicago and Seattle it’s been one chilly and bone-damp adventure. I’m not complaining… but I will thoroughly enjoy and enthusiastically welcome the big bright sunny days that are surely in our future.
In the meantime, while Spring gathers its momentum and gets itself sorted… we still need the comforts of warm mugs and gentle tonics.

Creamed Spinach Pasta with Sausage and Pine Nuts
Other people’s pasta.
Making other people’s pasta is not like wearing someone else’s clogs, or using someone else’s hair brush. It’s not about fitting your form into someone else’s, but sometimes it does feel similarly intimate. Like making other people’s pasta teaches you about the comfort places they retreat into in rainstorms (in the world and in the mind).
Making other people’s pasta is more about taking someone else’s comfort and making it yours.

Let It Be Sunday
Hello my friends,
How have you hustled through the week? Likely with strong legs and a brave face because that’s just how we do things. This week I released my third cookbook which… honestly and truly blows my little baker mind. It’s called Over Easy. It’s about brunch. It’s full of cocktails and coffee, egg techniques, sandwiches and salads, so much bacon and a good amount of biscuits, gravy and french toast (separate not together).

Jalapeno Queso Dip with Spiced Homemade Chips
I’ve been walking around the Los Angeles International Airport (a place that feels like a city unto itself) in a sweatshirt that reads Tacos, Tequila, and Tan Lines. It’s not generally my style to wear clothing with written messages on them, mostly because I don’t want strangers looking at my body long enough to read and comprehend a message. That’s my own weird thing and I’ll just own it.
But this sweatshirt… well it’s comfortable, and it’s cute, and it’s swag (I struggle with that word) from my friend Whitney’s bachelorette party (I also struggle with these two words, too) this past weekend.

Let It Be Sunday!
Hello my friends!
Please accept this shorter offering of Sunday reads this week. Please also accept my relentless requests that you cook from my new cookbook Over Easy and join me out in the world for cooking demos and book signings in the next few weeks. Tomorrow (that’s MONDAY March 20th!!) I’ll be chatting with Deb from Smitten Kitchen at Rizzoli Bookstore. I hope you’ll join us because if you don’t, Deb and I will have to drink all the wine spritzers ourselves sitting atop a stack of my cookbook.
