Caramelized Banana Oatmeal Breakfast
There’s an alarming trend in food these days. It’s as though we’ve run out of things to put a fried egg on because now trendy breakfast places are putting fried eggs on their oatmeal.
Are you into this?
I’ve always used a bowl of breakfast oatmeal as an excuse for brown sugar… essentially as an excuse to make dessert out of breakfast. For this reason, I simply cannot accept a friend egg and a sauteed green on my oatmeal.

Let It Be Sunday!
I’ve got my head down these days prepping recipes and making plans. I’ve popped my head up just enough to realize that New Orleans is in full on party mode with Mardi Gras, and Facebook is still aflame with politics chaos. I’ve focusing on what is directly in front of me… mostly so I don’t crash and burn or drop the doughnuts. What’s directly in front of me is a lot of brunch and many many dirty dishes.

This Week: Finding Inspiration
Hello friends,
Can I talk to you about something?
I have a cookbook coming out soon. It’s about Brunch and don’t worry… starting next week (or sometime around then), I’ll shamelessly and relentlessly ask you to buy it and come see me as I’m traveling around. This is not that conversation, but that’s soon and won’t stop and I apologize (half-heartedly) in advance.
Over Easy will be my third book and I suppose by now I’m accustomed to the cycle of it.

Let It Be Sunday!
Hello dear friends,
This week in things… Tron has found this unwavering and unapologetic placement in the middle of the kitchen rug, I’m watching a new television show called Taboo, we’re exercising our Constitutional rights, Elizabeth Warren is holding it down, and we’re celebrating love because we can and we need to.
Here is some of the Internet this week, just some:
• Last week Tuesday, I was sitting at my computer and noticed some big gusty winds outside.

Galentine’s Day: Chocolate Waffles, Cream, and Chocolate Sauce
If your weekend plans include breakfast of any variety, please consider: chocolate.
If your weekend plans include a gathering large or small, please consider: inviting over your best gals.
If your weekend plans include a lazy meal + time well spent away from work and computer and news nonsense, please consider: brunch.
If your weekend plans include a TREAT (and good golly all mighty it should-it really should), please consider: busting out the waffle iron.

Galentine’s Day: Caesar Salad Pepperoni Pizza
Galentine’s Day: noun, an annual (not) nationally recognized holiday celebrated by human females on February 13th, the day before the over commercialized, bummer-of-a-holiday-for-single-women traditionally known as Valentine’s Day. Galentine’s Day was made popular by Leslie Knope, a fictional character portrayed by Amy Poehler on American television comedy Parks and Recreation. Galentine’s Day is known as a day when lady friends gather, wear comfortable pants, and eat as many waffles (among other things) as they’d like.

Let It Be Sunday!
Hello my friends.
Welcome to this, the first Sunday in February- sign already that the days run away like wild horses over the hills. How are you this week? Worn in and worn out? Firm, fiery, emboldened? What’s your adjective? I feel like I’m a cat crouching, ready to pounce, afraid I’ll be one of those cat-fail videos on YouTube when they don’t stick the landing and slide off the icy fence.

Red Beans and Rice Nachos
A few weeks back, someone (on Twitter) called me a GOAT. Because Twitter seems to be the place these days where everyone calls each other every name under the sun and otherwise, I thought, hm…. do I want to know what this means or not? Likely not. I’m just going to leave it at GOAT and decide whether I one of those fainting goats or one of those baby goats in pajamas I remember seeing on Facebook before we all yelled at each other about politics there.
I’m definitely a fainting goat. Those poor guys… listen, life comes atcha fast.

Let It Be Sunday!
If you’ve been here for any short amount of time, you’ve likely noticed that Sunday posts are a bit different than most of my mid-week food posts. I use this Sunday space to link to articles I’ve read throughout the week that I’ve found interesting or insightful… sometimes validating feelings that mingle in my guts, other times helping me see a different side of things. Sometimes spicy, pointed, and opinionated in tone. It’s a space for me to be a thinking, feeling, human and share some real-world things that are important to me.

Warm Molasses Milk
For your consideration.
I don’t have all the answers. I don’t even have a majority of them. I can’t decide which color to pain my office. My clean laundry is in a heap on my bedroom chair and I’m likely just going to wash it again in the hopes that it comes out of the dryer already folded.
I merely come here today with the suggestion, the offering, the inspiration of Warm Molasses Milk.
