dark designs

MLR has released the print version of Dark Designs!
To celebrate the release, here's a snippet. When Aspen Mountain Press releases the e-book version, I'll hold a contest for both a print and e version of the book.
He celebrated his decision by leaving his townhouse and driving downtown to pick up a few things. San Jose had grown since he'd lived there as a teenager. The lush orchards that had once dotted the landscape were gone, replaced by a foliage of glass and steel.

rhune
In a few minutes, I'm going to post something really awesome. In the meantime, please enjoy this peek at Rhune.
When not stalking Kyler, Rhune likes to hang out.
Rhune: I also like long walks on the beach and chocolate.
A servant of Darkness, Rhune creates magical tattoos.
Rhune: snakes and bugs and magic, oh my.
She was inspired to create tattoos long ago, when a knight of Darkness drew his shadow on her back.
Rhune: *sigh* if only I was his type.

plague
This is a really interesting zombie short. My only question is, is the ending "happy" or bleak? Jen and I watched this last night and we're still debating it (I say it's "happy" because the guy is kind of going to get what he wanted, and Jen says it's bleak).

pins and needles: part three
Confession: Whenever any of my stories comes out, I get nervous.
Usually it only happens on the day the book is released. I'll visit the publisher's site every couple hours, staring at the book, wondering if anyone other than my friends and brother are buying copies (to friends and brother: thanks!). Dark Designs has been something of passion of mine, though, so the nervousness is happening even before DD is unleashed on the world.

now I want to go to Starbucks
You Are Flexible

During your downtime, you like to think about the world around you and develop theories.
You secretly wish that you could be a more successful person. Being rich is a dream of yours.
You are realistic about the world. You may have challenges that come your way, but you can overcome them.
You are inspired by your own thoughts and observations. You don't need much outside influence in order to feel inspired.
The Cafe Test
Admittedly, I always want to go to Starbucks ;)

movie memories
One of the neighbors is using a chainsaw. The sharp, shrill sounds reminded me of the first time I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I was sixteen or seventeen and was at my best friend's house. We'd rented the movie, bought a bunch of tacos at Taco Bell, and then settled down to watch the horror classic.
Oh, how we laughed.
Leatherface looked goofy, we couldn't believe the kids just walked into the house of death, and man, could that one girl scream. This was a scary movie? Hah! We'd seen all o...

snicker
I begin every morning with a little procrastination-I mean, checking up on the writing world. Here's what I found today:
The TBR Lists
I have to admit, buying an F or A review would tempt me. As a writer, A reviews are the thing to shoot for. As a reader, F reviews are pretty informative. I've occasionally bought books based on F reviews just to see if I agreed.

pins and needles, part two
Kyler's done!
And I didn't stab myself once with the needle! (it's the little things, you know?)
Overall, I think he turned out wonderfully. His hair's a bit longer than it is in the novel, but it looks better this way when I tie it back (I'm tempted to have him grow his hair out a little in book two, just so the action figure's hair length will be official ;).
And so, without further ado,
Of him simply hanging out.
Kyler: at no time during the story do I do this. Pity, I look pretty awesome.

dark designs snippets
I've begun posting some Dark Designs snippets on my yahoo group (which, ironically, shares the same name with the book).
The snippets are from a story that one of the characters in DD wrote, detailing struggles between the Darkness, its knights, and the mages that have opposed them throughout time. The snippets were originally in the novel but I took them out during the Great Revision.
I'm going to post the snippets on my web site after DD comes out (soon ...). In the meantime, here's a peek:
