written in blood reviews
While I was critting like mad at TNEO, my in-box overflowed with some awesome reviews. Here are the first batch:
Literary Nymphs
Luisa Prieto's Written In Blood takes us into the life of Collin Foster, a man who plays his cards closely guarded to his vest. His desire for men isn't something he can allow to surface, especially during this period. I understood why some stories left Collin torn. He could appreciate the lure of having another man in his bed. He wasn't biased about newsworthy events, e

home base
And now I'm home!
Ah, home. Where I have a mountain of pillows, a beloved cat, and a ton of mail to sort through. While I begin sorting, here's an awesome video a friend sent me (thanks Michelle :).

tneo: day . . . whatever day it is
I can finally access the internet in my room!
Today is a great day :) I've finally caught up with all of the crits I needed to do for the workshop, I got a cable so I can hook my laptop up to the internet, and I finally was able to check e-mail (mmm. E-mail). The last few days have felt like I was living in caveman days. There was weather I couldn't predict, no e-mail, and dinosaurs chased me around.
Well, okay, there aren't any dinosaurs, but I've heard that a bat flew into someone's dorm one nig

Crow PI
I'll be leaving in a bit for my trip but I haven't forgotten that I owed everyone a snippet. I hope you enjoy it (and if not, I can tweak it ;)
This is from Better Homes and Witchcraft. It's about Dominic's brother, Justin.
--
Justin studied the murder of crows crouched on top of the Lucky's. They were beautiful birds, with liquid black feathers, wicked sharp beaks, and graceful little legs. Several glanced in his direction, fixing dark eyes on him.
As a child, he'd wondered about the things they'd

ergot review
It's been a good weekend for reviews :)
Uniquely Pleasurable reviewed Cooking with Ergot. Here's one of my favorite parts:
Prieto has created a supernatural story which manages to be spooky, not cheesy, and sympathetic to believers in Wicca and paganism without excessive amounts of tedious woo-woo (my main reason for being bored witless by shows like Supernatural.) The humour is a big part of that creation, but so are her characters. Dominic is a great cook and a practicing witch – with a stuffed

resurfacing
All in all, June was a good month :) I wrote an additional 4,500 words and got further in both the WIP and the revision. As for July, I've written 2k and gotten a nice review for Written in Blood.
It's another vampire tale, but not your typical one. The canvas is historical fiction, taking place in London in the Victorian era, and the lead character is a gay investigative reporter who meets a handsome vampire and his life is changed forever. It's well written, well plotted, and a delight to read.

am I the only one who thinks this would be an interesting movie?

moar funny pictures
I mean, come on, they're playing chess. I don't know about you, but the juxtaposition of these two dangerous monsters sitting down in a cool library and playing a game intrigues me.

goofy quiz
You Are Nachos

You are outgoing and generous. You love to share you life with other people.
You are carefree and light-hearted. You try to always make the best of things.
While you enjoy being with other people, you also value your alone time.
You like to reflect, think, and pick things apart. You like to study everything carefully.

written in blood review
The first review is in! And it's educational (not bad. Not great, but something I can learn from).
The good: she liked the writing.
The bad: she doubted I mentioned the love interest's name. She also found a couple things I wished I'd tweaked.
The funny: I then had to go look and see if I had mentioned his name (I did. Twice. Yeah! And *giggle*. It was how that character thought, just as this is how the reviewer saw it. I respect both).
I didn't hate Written in Blood, and I definitely wanted it to b

the word count thing
I hit the 25k marker a few minutes ago :)
25670 / 25000 words. 103% done!
Since I still have a few days left to the month, I've decided to start over.
0 / 25000 words. 0% done!
I probably won't make it to 25k (again), but knowing there's a word bar waiting for me to update has really helped me this month. I'm tempted to keep it going and just start over every month.
