Focus Meditation 17: Chakra #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Chakra for Energy

Technique: When it comes to chakra balancing, you should be able to focus on each particular chakra and its color in order to clear, activate, or use that chakra energy. In the video example below, it will give you a solid idea/visual on what to focus on.

My Meditation: I am going to do 5 minutes on each of the 7 main chakras – clearing and activation.

Meditation Resources: I will sometimes use this particular video for chakra balancing if I have little ti...

Focus Meditation 16: Guides #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Guided Meditation

Technique: Sometimes you don’t want to have to drag yourself through a meditation. Instead, you want someone else to take you on a journey. To just relax your mind and allow whoever (or whatever) is guiding you, to show you something. There are a lot of methods for this, but the most common is to listed to a Guided Meditation recorded specifically to help you through the meditation process.

There are a lot of prepared meditations out there and available fr...

Focus Meditation 15: Flame #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Flame Focus

Technique: This is a focus meditation where you immerse yourself fully in the experience of observation. You can add to this some energy work, and see what happens.

So first, get a candle and light it. Sit comfortably in front of the candle and draw in a deep breath. Exhale slowly. Focus on the flame of the candle. Watch it. Then, try to anticipate it’s movement. Observe it. How does it react to the air, your breath, your movement.

Build an energy ball between yo...

Focus Meditation 14: Breath #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Bellows Breath

Technique: Yes – MORE Pranayama! I know. I’m on a roll this week with the breathing meditations. Just one more though… This one is called Bellows Breath. It’s very similar to breath of fire, except you exhale through your nose! You also don’t do it as quickly. This is an energizing pranayama exercise.

Sit tall, breathe in through your nose, extending your abdomen, then exhale forcefully through your nose. Push the breath out with your abdomen for one second pe...

Focus Meditation 13: Breath #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Breath of Fire

Technique: This is a cleansing pranyama practice. Before we start, just know that if you’re pregnant or have high blood pressure, you might want to skip this one and try a more gentle breathing exercise. This one will make you feel light headed if you don’t practice it regularly, and we don’t want anyone passing out!

There are a lot of alleged health benefits of this particular breathing exercise, most notably – pain relief. So if you suffer chronic pain, try...

Focus Meditation 12: Breath #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Lion’s Breath

Technique: Pranayama is a practice of how one breathes. It’s part of a formal yoga practice for a lot of yogis. Different breathing techniques can actually do everything from promote relaxation to energy.

Usually, this is done sitting on your heels. If this is too difficult for you, try it sitting cross-legged, or on all fours. Whichever is most comfortable for you. Remember, with yoga you should never be in pain. Feeling a stretch is fine, but if it becomes pa...

Focus Meditation 11: Tarot #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Tarot Meditation (or any oracle deck)

Technique: You can use a tarot, Lenormand, or any oracle deck for this. There are two methods for doing this meditation. One is for learning tarot or a new oracle, the other is for divination. I’ll describe both.

TO LEARN A NEW DECK: Sit in silence for about two minutes, focusing on your breath. Pull out your deck of cards, shuffle them, then randomly pull one to three cards from the deck and place them before you. (Pull one at a time if...

Focus Meditation 10: Freewriting #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Freewriting

Technique: Ever since completing The Artists Way Workshop, I have found morning pages (basically a daily freewriting practice) to be an extra beneficial type of meditation that I’ve added to my daily practice. I usually spend thirty minutes on it. The idea behind it is you put pen to paper and just write streaming consciousness type thoughts. You can do this in a more directed manner, by picking a topic or keyword, or any other type of prompt, and using that to w...

Focus Meditation 9: Qigong #DoMagick

Meditation Title: Qigong

Technique: Qigong is similar to Tai Chi, except, IMHO, it’s a LOT easier to learn. Tai Chi, to me, is like trying to learn to dance because, it seems, the sequences move incredibly fast and there’s a LOT of choreography. Qigong, however, puts more emphasis on the rhythmic breathing, energy movement, relaxation, calm mind, and being able to do all of this while gently moving and stretching the body. Gently! That’s the key word for me.

Now, there is a lot about qigong...
